Rank Stone Cold Steve Austin as an overall wrestler/superstar (in a 1-10 scale)

How would you rate Stone Cold Steve Austin, as an overall wrestling superstar? give him a mark between 1-10.

Stone Cold was a piece of Americana like Hulk Hogan was, and like The Rock will probably become, if he hasn't already. Plus he was one half of probably the greatest feud in WWE history, Austin vs McMahon. Responsible for the top Wrestlemania, PPV, and Raw moments, as well as a long career with great matches.

10/10

There is no bald spot. My hair is still currently glorious. Much like Kliq members Triple h and Kevin Nash #K4L

Austin, much as I hate him, is one of the best of all time. He could work, he could brawl, he could talk, he could pretty much do it all. However, I'm deducting a point since I just don't like him.

9/10

Pretty much this. Only time I personally enjoyed Austin was when he was a heel..... but I recognize how "good" he was.

Innovator 04-06-2013 02:15 PM

10. The best overall star.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is the single greatest attraction in the history of professional wrestling. When he was at his peak, there was nobody close to him (Hogan included).

Emperor Smeat 04-06-2013 02:51 PM

9.5/10

One of the very few guys worthy of being in the mega star tier.

Injuries did limit what he could do in the ring after a while but still managed to create a lot of great matches and moments in WWF/WWE history.

Joesgonnakillyou 04-06-2013 02:52 PM

He's the GOAT.

dronepool 04-06-2013 03:17 PM

He's the reason I started sort of caring about WWE and watching it in the 90's. But yeah, my 9 still stands because I don't know about perfects scores, but yeah I agree with all the positive opinions.

Bad News Gertner 04-06-2013 03:19 PM

Hogan>Austin

Shisen Kopf 04-06-2013 05:33 PM

Bret Hart>Hogan

Bobo 04-06-2013 07:53 PM

8 or 9 out of 10. One of the all time greats but not the greatest. Bobo's top ten of all time:

1) Hulk Hogan / The Rock. Arguably the two greatest of all time who transcend the sport.

2) The Undertaker.

3) Ric Flair.

4) Shawn Michaels.

5) Macho Man Randy Savage.

6) Bret Hart.

7) John Cena.

8) Mick Foley.

9) Sting.

10) Goldberg.

Shisen Kopf 04-06-2013 07:54 PM

Where's Bret Hart?? Dunno about that list

Bobo 04-06-2013 07:56 PM

Those who deserve an honorable mention: Ultimate Warrior, Goldberg, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerero, Chris Jericho, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Bruno Sammartino, Edge, British Bulldog.

I put him instead of Sammartino. In all fairness I base Sammartino on what I've read about him as I'm not old enough to remember watching him on TV.

Was tempted to put Goldberg in the top ten. His WCW run for me was probably WCW's finest moment, not the NWO. Only problem is that his WWE run wasn't rather spectacular and didn't last long but more to do with Goldberg's ego rather than anything else.

I feel perhaps I've been too generous putting Sting so highly. No doubt he's a legend but without a WWE appearance and not having stepped in the ring with some of the finest of all time: Rock, Cena, Undertaker, Triple H etc. I struggle to really rank him much higher.

Shisen Kopf 04-06-2013 08:00 PM

Bret Hart should be second to no-one except maybe savage or crash holly

Shisen Kopf 04-06-2013 08:02 PM

Auto correct changes Sammartino to spam martini!

Bret Hart is the 54th greatest canadian rassler

Hart did it all except step in the ring against Hogan.....I don't recall them ever having a match......right?

Savage I've never really been a fan of but I can't deny he wasn't a big star and at his peak was second only to Hogan in terms of popularity/star-power etc.

Frankly for me Austin never quite had that aura stars like Hogan, Savage, Rock and dare I say it even Cena had/have. Austin's career was too short but technically he wasn't a fantastic wrestler imo, he was simply a great, down-to-earth character rather than the larger than life straight out of a comic book characters of Hogan, Sting or even Rock.

Bobo 04-06-2013 08:06 PM

Also I'm tempted not to rank Eddie Guerero and Edge so highly. The former whilst undoubtedly one of the finest of all time at both the cruiserweight and heavyweight level and in both WCW and WWE, I feel he's only really lauded as a 'legend' because of his tragic passing. Edge similarly except his career was cut short by injury otherwise I don't think either wrestler would have been inducted into the HoF so soon if at all.

Bobo 04-06-2013 08:09 PM

BTW what channel is HoF on in the US?

Corporate CockSnogger 04-06-2013 08:13 PM

Bret Hart ranks just above Benoit and just below coma-inducing boredom.

He is the greatest Canadian of all time, then it's my great great uncle, he was a drunk in Aurora, ON.

Bobo 04-06-2013 08:18 PM

Ok I reditted the list and Goldberg made my top ten.

Now let's rank the Divas :D

Road Warrior 04-06-2013 08:30 PM

10/10, Either number 1 or 2 all time.

Curd 04-06-2013 09:08 PM

9.2/10

Others have described his strengths, so I'll give reasons why I rated him less than a perfect 10:

- He hasn't wrestled in Japanese promotions.

- He could have remained on-camera to promote and build future stars during his recovery from a Nov. 1999 neck srugery, at least after WrestleMania 2000 by giving moral support in promos to certain stars (whoever he saw potential in and Vince agreed with) and then build towards a post-SummerSlam 2000 match with whoever for when he's healed. Instead, Stonecold remained off camera because how he could continue to dominate people without being cleared to wrestle?

- His 2001 heel character derailed some of the badassery he's known for, but that was more Vince's fault than anything. At least it provided a reason as to why part-time Rock was finally able to beat him at WrestleMania 19!

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-06-2013 10:09 PM

Huh? How about when he was in The Rock's corner at Backlash 2000? He helped him win the title.

Austin didn't want to appear on camera that much because he was hell bent on recovering as fast as possible to come back to the WWF at close to 100 percent. Didn't really want to be there if he couldn't attack or be attacked. That wouldn't have done him or anybody else any favors. They tried that when Austin was the Co-GM/Sheriff and it was pretty terrible.

He wrestled in Japan for WCW and he got injured there. I think that might have soured him on the country.

That was actually a good rebuttal, and I'll let it stand at that. :)
