DAY ONE BUY!
|
I predict Fangel will buy the Xbox One and Ghosts on release day. Two weeks later when he has decided he hates the game he will sell both it and the system to gamestop. Then, after all his friends are playing it at christmas time he will go and repurchase the game, maybe by trading in some other game like GTA 5 that he has beaten and is no longer interested in. One week later he will once again realize that he doesn't like Ghosts, and he really misses GTA 5, so he will one last time return to game stop to sell the game and equipment for his original copy of GTA 5.
He will also keep us apprised of all of this. |
Don't forget the page of questions about whether it will be on the XBox 1 anyway.
|
Seeing as how I still play Black Ops 2 daily I am BALLS IN deep into this one.
I have like, I dunno, 90 hours of Black Ops 2 and only 3 hours of Battlefield 3 which is a sucky boring game for campers. GHOSTS cant get here fast enough |
If you're playing Black Ops 2 daily, why can't you wait for the new CoD?
|
It's confirmed: The dog is a playable character.
DAY ONE BUY. |

Or buy this for that matter. Now before I get the obvious "Why even bother with the thread" comment, I wantedto see what you guys thought so far/what they are hyping. |
As a Megaman fan, I am perfectly content to play "the same old shit" as long as it's still fun.
|
Fangerl doesn't know this is also coming out for current gen systems. Think of all the rage montages he won't be featured in this year. :'(

Now if you happen to have the ability to not be a total cunt for as long as it takes you to finish reading this post (I know it will be difficult but I think you have it in you.) you may notice that the next gen comment was in response to Miotch. I am aware it is available for current gen (or will be.) So I wouldn't have to purchase a new console to play it. I've moved on to PC gaming anywhere and there isn't a chance I'd ever play CoD on PC. I also find it incredibly ammusing how you bashed this game saying only drunken fratboys and kids play this but have gone quiet with such comments nowadays. |
After months of ignoring him, you just responded to one of his barbs, so he'll probably just keep on doing it.
You need to adapt like most of us have, and ignore the worthless posts like that one. |
If he had that kind of self-control, he wouldn't be the disc-snapping, RAM-frying sociopathic ball of stupidity that became so famous on TPWW.
|
Curious to know why he seemingly considers you a friend when you are always bluntly calling him stupid and whatnot.
|
He hasn't considered me a friend since his shitbag turn of opportunity a while back. Or if he still does, he's the kind of friend nobody needs.
Actually, I kind of buy that last one. Well, I could see it being true. You may be on to something, Fignuts. |

To belittle me further and state why I am an asshole for "siding" with Swiss. So, KK, why don't you do what i said in the message and list one person here who would call you a friend Actually, not even that. Someone that even enjoys your presence here. |
Post the messages, though.
|
Yeah post the messages. I'm always interested in Kane Knight's hidden grovelling and campaigns of hate.
|
Yes. Post them.
|
I wouldn't normally do this, because I have respect for most people. However, once you read my response (I have omitted something for his privacy reasons, I am not THAT much of a douchebag.)
I like this place and try to get along with most, so I offered to make amends. So I don't mind outing him as an asshole. Maybe he will sit back and realize who the true sociopath is. Quote:

The guy lives in a shitty, awful fantasy land. I remember him going berzerk at DttS at the time and there was no personal info whatsoever brought up. The man who manages to both be the world's biggest dickhole and also an enormous drama-queen with unfathomable depths of self-pity. He's well into his 30s, also. It's funny all the abuse he has given Rhiannon since she was a child and he's twice her age and doing exactly the same thing he seemingly hates her for.
Miserable bastard. |
Lol Internet friends.
|
I don't even want to be an asshole in this instance, but it seems necessary. Christ, he chased me around for three months after negging random posts, calling me a liar and a sociopath.
As for Rhiannon, I have sent PM's to her. I have apologized to her for being such a fucking to her in the past. That's the thing I find a bit ironic, he brings up things from years ago. I have since matured, it took a bit longer than most people but I like to think I am not the dickhole I was six years ago. This guy however has been like this since I joined and I suspect long before that. |

I'm so happy I don't have any serious drama with anybody here, particularly after taking friendships outside of TPWW. In fact they always improve outside of here. Once upon a time Fignuts wanted me banned, now I can't wait to lobby up with him again in SFxT.
You fuckers need to grow up. Bad enough you're in a thread dedicated to a dog. |
Don't think I've ever even feuded with anyone.
Also, in my defense, the crisis was pretty terrible. |

Highlights from today's live stream courtesy of Destructoid:
* Character customization is in, including playable female soldiers. There are some 20,000 possible combinations which are both cosmetic in nature and affect gameplay. * Maps have dynamic events and environmental destruction. * There are seven new game modes, thirty new weapons, the new Marksman Rifle class, 20 new killstreaks, and a new co-op mode. * The create-a-soldier system is similar to Treyarch's Pick Ten. You'll have a budget to spend, and perks have varying number values associated with them. * You can create a squad of up to ten soldiers, each with a unique loadout, appearance, and ability to prestige. * New animations and movement systems: there's contextual leaning, a mantling system that let's you jump over obstacles, and a knee slide to go from sprinting to crouch or prone. * Modes: Cranked, where a kill makes you faster but also starts a 30-second timer in which you must earn another kill; Search and Rescue, where your team can revive you by picking up your tag or enemies can deny the revive by doing the same; and Squads, in which your custom squad competes against AI or other players. * Infinity Ward has plans for eSports following Treyarch's work on Black Ops II but only mentioned the CoD Championship and Ghosts' inclusion in the 2014 MLG Pro Circuit. * The studio is reducing the number of air-based killstreaks; for instance, the UAV is now a ground-based device instead of a drone in the air. No more death streaks, either. * The Season Pass is back with another four map packs and the Team Leader digital pack, including an exclusive multiplayer character. You can transfer your stats, prestige level, and profile across console generations, and DLC from the pass carries over too. http://www.destructoid.com/call-of-d...e-260035.phtml Quote:

Some new COD:Ghosts MP mode called Blitz. In it, you must <s>hunt ghosts like prolific TPWW poster Blitz</s> attack and defend 2 key points. There's also going to be an XBone hardware bundle with COD: Ghosts packed in with some "exclusive content" for your "experience" and they announced dedicated servers.

Only £179.99 for current gen console. Bargain! |
I must assume I'm the only one who got this.
|
I've got it, not played yet.
|
Forgot this was even coming out this week, that's how little I care about CoD now. Think I'll start treating it like sports games, getting it every other year.
|
Honestly, it's not very good. Played for about an hour and I'm already thinking about trading it in for Assassin's Creed IV.
Multiplayer feels strange. Can't put my finger on why. Just something off. Not a fan of any of the maps at this point. They feel too chaotic, and it seems like they're more vertically focused than horizontally. Found myself getting shelled from all angles a lot. And the spawns are fucking garbage. I mean real straight up garbage. I have never had an issue with spawns in previous CODs, even when it seemed like everyone else did. But this is a joke. Spawning right in front of enemies with my back turned to them. Come on. |
Not a fan either so far. The game was giving me a headache. It feels like there's no heft to the game and the mini-map is bad so far. There's still definite latency but they've taken away the ability to see your connection strength.
Maybe I'll get used to it. Not a fan of being spawn killed repeatedly and the same old "shot before I come round the corner" routine as in Black Ops 2. |
Grabbed mine for PS4 today. It's the common game all my buddies agreed upon to get.
Hmph. Reviews aren't that great right now. Hopefully it'll get better in a week or so. |
Doesn't sound good. Battlefield 4 it is then.
|
Kalyx did say that. And if Blitz and ECG are complaining it must be bad...
Is there any redeeming quality? |
Riley.
|
From what I've read, only the 360 and Wii U versions have a relatively smooth framerate. The PS4 and XBone versions are jerky as fuck unless there's a day 1 patch and even the PC version is dropping frames no matter how powerful your machine is.
Maybe trying to rush 6 versions out wasn't the smartest idea ever. |
I'm quite pleased that people are starting to see through this franchise's bullshit. Many of the issues I'm reading are things I've pointed out for years since MW2 and it seems to have taken hold after a long while. Hopefully this forces Activision to rethink how they release the game, but it seems the current team(s) on it are not up to task. Better off making Treyarch the sole developer and rock a 2yr release cycle.
|
People have always seen through the franchise bullshit. They just ignored it because they still had a lot of fun with the games. That's how it was with me anyway. I tried MW2 and 3, and I didn't like them, so I didn't buy them. I liked the BLOPS games, so I did. Simple.
|
I'm waiting for Fangel's review of everyone else's reviews before I get this.
|
Fangel isn't getting it this year.
Until he does. |
IT'S OK GUYS, THEY'RE PATCHING THE PC VERSION. THIS SHOULD HELP THE FRAMERATE.

I got a picture of me on my turret from 2003! My weapon of choices: The .50 Cal and M240B
Kind of jealous I didn't have a dog and stuff |
By the sounds of it, they developed with the new consoles in mind so it's a struggle just to get the basic game up and running. Then this is downported to the current console generation so you're maybe getting a game that lacks a lot of the progress they made.
|
I am waiting on this one, I blew through Black Ops 2 too fast. I was going to turn heel on CoD and go BF4, but I'm having too much fun with WWE2k14
|
This game looks too much like BO2...so I think I will skip it. Same thing with Battlefield 4, its Battlefield 3 with better graphics...the only thing I like in BF4 is commander mode so I might get it for that cuz I would be a great commander
|
I played a bit more today, still not sold. I'm not a fan of all the urban maps, the colour schemes. I think it's the sound effects that are bothering me the most about the gameplay, however. A big issue with the urban maps is all the debris and architecture, it's too easy to get stuck on stuff like a fucking moron, or be running against something you can't see. This was always a big issue for me in Battlefield 3 too, why should your guy would get stuck running against stuff maybe knee-high. He should just step over it, or fucking trip, not run on the spot like a twat. But climbing up ladders, fucking hell. I don't understand why they make it possible to slide sideways off a ladder. In what way is this a thing that should happen? Every other game on the planet a ladder becomes something you attach to, not this slidey surface you can rotate all around. Trying to get up a ladder is a definite skill in this game of cluttered, urban multi-level maps.
The set-up is confusing, I don't know what the fuck this squad members thing is supposed to be about, what does it do? It's just different avatars? What is the point? The whole thing is very cluttered. I'd probably have been happy to keep playing Black Ops 2 if not for the awful connection issues. It was excellent in regards to gameplay and the set-up, this isn't grabbing me right now and the game latency is still a massive factor, you just can't see the quality of the connection. |
Quote:
I'm not sure I'm going to buy another round of the series, but if I do, I'm waiting for the next Black Ops/whatever Treyarch calls it. Although the recent fire sale is tempting. |
I don't know about that a lot of people liked the BLOPS games more than MW 3, myself included.
The IW games haven't been as good since those two head developers left. |
Yeah people are starting to feel the effects of the new IW since they launched two of the more subpar CoD games. Brand name can only take you so far, and unlike Madden riding on the brand name they have stiff competition against them - even from Treyarch themselves on the same series. IW's just a name that stuck at this point.

ECG is dead on. I think it's the maps. They're terrible. Nearly all urban and full of debris. Enemies are incredibly hard to make, made worse by the fact that there's a lot of difference outfits. But none of them seem to have any flow. All just square or semi square areas with a shit ton of buildings. So many firing angles, you need to look in 8 directions at once or die. On long range maps, if you aren't sniping, you are fucked.
Squad system is dumb and useless. Gotta use tokens to open more than 3 loadout slots, fuck off. There's so many satcoms (the new UAV) that you pretty much have to have stealth perks and silencers. Hating this so far. |
That sounds like the same issues I had with MW3s maps...big cluster fuck of gray city areas. May pass this year and give me fps time to Battlefield 4.
|
Same guys made it, so we see they learned very little.
I could use another squad mate, and you'd be interest to see how things work in Battlefield. You seem like a jet guy. |
H
M UP! .....next time im online. |
Maybe we can get a squad that actually talks. The one time i played BF3 with kalyx was the only time i ever heard anyone talk in that game. Even then he barely said anything.
If i get 4, you better speak up kalyx. Game has so much potential for coordinating different strategies with squadmates. |
I speak often, must have been a quiet time for me.
|
Battlefield 3 wasn't always a satisfying experience for me. It often took a long time to find a decent game with teams not camping for kills in Rush or Conquest, plus the ability to pay for advantages were pretty grim. I felt the air battling was pretty superfluous as well, it took way, way too long to level fighter jets unless you obsessively used them. I used a lot of tanks and I still hadn't got very far with them either by the time I stopped playing (and I had played it a lot). When it was a good game, it was fantastic, but Call of Duty provides a more immediate experience, something that you can pick up and play. I'll probably stick with Ghosts just because I know I'll be able to get a full team to play it, plus the maps will likely get better with experience, they normally do. Battlefield 4 looks like fun but the games used for demos and ads rarely resemble what you get in reality.
|
Quote:
|
You can not pay for advantages in Battlefield 3.
Battlefield 4's Premium stuff pushes it, though. A lot. |
You could pay to unlock higher level stuff in Battlefield 3.
|
Actually the weapons were not objectively better than others, they mostly had different handling. They really excel when you use add-ons that fit your playstyle, none of them could be unlocked with money. All add-ons had were a grind. The Short-Cut packs, as I discussed in a blog I wrote last year, were handled fairly well. It wasn't pay-to-win at all.
They faltered with the vehicle kit DLC, which was very much pay to win, since those items made vehicles very powerful. But even then it wasn't game breaking, since anti-vehicle weapons unlocked week-1 worked well against them. |
Maybe. I sort of lost interest in it when paying for stuff arrived, it always puts me off somewhat. I wasn't happy with Tiger Woods this year letting people pay for level-up points, since it took so long to actually level up, so EA annoy me with this sort of thing.
The time to kill/die in Ghosts is extremely quick, it's like Hardcore mode from other games. I don't really like it, it's exacerbating the map issues. There's too many angles and doorways, so while feasibly you should be able to run from people to find cover, it's impossible with the speed of death. It's making the game very stop-start for me, it's jarring to constantly just drop dead before even realising I am being shot at. I hope they patch this to make players a little more resistant to bullets. Might be more realistic or whatever but it's not as fun. Battlefield has a pretty quick time to kill/die speed but at least it was offset by aiming not being straightforward from range. |
ECG is absolutely right about one thing though. COD is pick up and play, and that's a big reason for its success. Anyone can pick up a controller and do OK, while battlefield definitely has a much larger learning curve. It's a big sell for the casual market, which is a driving force in the industry.
There's also the fact that battlefield on 360 and PS3 isn't how the game is originally designed to play. They didn't scale down the maps at all, despite losing over half the player count. It's still fun, but it does involve a lot of running around not finding anyone, where COD takes seconds to find an encounter. |
