NXT / FCW fans chime in and educate the TPWW faithful on the Wyatt Family.

CSL 05-28-2013 04:39 PM

it's a fun, heavily produced gimmick that Wyatt excels as the leader in. About it really. We'll see how it translates to TV. The (parts of the) internet (that doesn't already) is going to love it.

Keith 05-28-2013 04:39 PM

Shades of Waylon Mercy.

Should be good.

Extreme Angle 05-28-2013 04:39 PM

I don't really watch that much wrestling anymore, but that was pretty awesome...

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-28-2013 04:40 PM

It's about damn time.

Heisenberg 05-28-2013 04:40 PM

Hope he brings the rocking chair to the main roster with him

Here is Bray talkin' to Jericho at NXT, probably about books or shit.

Swiss Ultimate 05-28-2013 04:53 PM

Gertner, just curious. Would you be cool with a Wyatts VS. Shield feud if the Wyatts went over?

Droford 05-28-2013 04:59 PM

Hillbilly Shield

Volare 05-28-2013 04:59 PM

Two times I marked out hard last night. That promo, and the Perfectplex.

It wouldn't make sense, but yes a billion times. Fucking love The Wyatt's.

Lock Jaw 05-28-2013 05:22 PM

I watched NXT for the first couple weeks, and saw Bray Wyatt's debut on that show. I was enjoying him a lot. Then he got injured and went away, and I stopped watching NXT before he came back with his "family".

Are the two dudes who are with him any good?

Bad News Gertner 05-28-2013 05:26 PM

Luke Harper (black beard) is fantastic. Rowan (red beard) isn't as good as Harper, but is still good.

Just your average Vanilla Giants :shifty:

#1-norm-fan 05-28-2013 06:20 PM

Wyatts vs Shield would make sense in a power struggle kinda way but it would have to be heel vs heel so it would be no good.

The Wyatt Family should be getting the kind of push The Shield has been getting. I just worry that the gimmick will be "too much" for the campy, simplistic style of WWE right now and they'll end up getting watered down and eventually jobbed out.

#1-norm-fan 05-28-2013 06:22 PM

On a side note, anyone else find it funny that we're getting to a point where there are more legitimate trios on the roster than tag teams? Soon it's gonna make more sense to have 6 man tag team titles than tag titles.

What Would Kevin Do? 05-28-2013 06:25 PM

I loved that it was reported on the front page that the gimmick is based on The Duck Dynasty... Yeah, no.

For those not in the know, Bray, for all intents and purposes, is like a cult leader.

What Would Kevin Do? 05-28-2013 06:26 PM

Also, the Wyatt family needs to be heels I feel, so if they ever feud with the Shield, the Wyatt family needs to be an unstoppable force too, so they can book the whole "Only The Shield can stop them" type feud.

Next Big Thing 05-28-2013 06:33 PM

I'd watch that.

Lock Jaw 05-28-2013 06:36 PM

Only 3MB can stop them

Swiss Ultimate 05-28-2013 06:38 PM

Edge, Christian and Rhino could stop them.

Wishbone 05-28-2013 06:47 PM

The sheep mask thing was pretty... weird, but it did serve to make them seem fucking bat shit insane scary. Looking forward to these guys debuts.

Vastardikai 05-28-2013 07:04 PM

"Send someone, but don't send anyone that you want back."

Perhaps the most chilling line of the whole promo.

Bad News Gertner 05-28-2013 07:54 PM

Kaientai!

The CHT 05-28-2013 08:37 PM

I cannot tell a lie, I would mark out like a virgin in a whorehouse if after having run through the roster for a few months the Wyatt Family was in the ring calling out new challengers and the SHIELD theme hit and they came through the crowd and started brawling.

#1-norm-fan 05-28-2013 08:39 PM

The Shield would have to turn face for it to work as a feud.

The CHT 05-28-2013 08:44 PM

I could see it happening eventually and what better way to turn them than against the creepy rednecks.

The CHT 05-28-2013 08:46 PM

With the shitty WWE writers, it will probably end up being a team of Kofi Kingston, Alex Reilly and Evan Bourne trying to stop them.

#1-norm-fan 05-28-2013 08:51 PM

You know what I miss? Tag feuds that don't revolve around the titles.

Was just thinking how a tag feud between The Wyatt Family and Team Hell No while The Shield are doing their own thing defending the tag titles would pick up the tag division a little.

Make something like The Usos and 3MB have a feud that's mostly featured on Main Event and Smackdown with sporadic matches on Raw and you've suddenly got some depth in the tag division.

Lock Jaw 05-28-2013 08:56 PM

Tonnes of Funk had that feud with the Rhodes Scholars going on.

#1-norm-fan 05-28-2013 09:02 PM

Oh yeah. That thing.

That was... something.

#1-norm-fan 05-28-2013 09:06 PM

Bryan's got the creepy redneck beard going on. The Wyatt Family should try to take advantage of the rift between Kane and Bryan and Bryan's lack of confidence in himself by trying to recruit him. Kane tries talking him out of it, it leads to a big "will he or won't he" thing before he teases joining the family but ultimately "NO! NO! NO!". There's your feud.

Vastardikai 05-28-2013 09:26 PM

And if he's willing, even let the Family cut DB's beard.

dronepool 05-28-2013 09:39 PM

Looks awesome.

#1-norm-fan 05-28-2013 09:52 PM

I hope they let him talk about Jesus like he did on NXT. Made it all even more creepy.

dingdongyo 05-28-2013 10:53 PM

i'm into it. it also seems like the start of an interesting formula: giving big new personalities/interesting new characters some supporting role players as opposed to letting them drown in the crowded singles competition scene.

Bad News Gertner 05-28-2013 11:21 PM

The only thing I didn't like was letting Harper and Rowan talk.

#1-norm-fan 05-28-2013 11:38 PM

John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt w/ The Wyatt Family for the WWE Title at some point.

I haven't followed nxt, and really didn't know too much about the Wyatt family.. That being said, I can not remember the last time I was this excited for a debut.. It's fresh, different, and creepy as all hell.. I can just imagine them stalking different people like a murder movie, finally capturing them, with segments every week on how they are torturing that person.. Can't wait to see how they play out

Let's also not forget about how The Shield is a takeoff on Dog the Bounty Hunter and Chris Jericho is a takeoff of Bon Jovi.

Seriously, if you wanna make wrestling seem less corny and more like a legit form of entertainment, you show them those Bray Wyatt videos. It's like a preview for a TV show that everyone is gonna be raving about.

I seriously feel like this. If I wanna show non-wrestling fans why I enjoy wrestling I'd explain to them it's because I know something like this is gonna come around every once in a while and I'm gonna root heavily for it to succeed. I may shit on the writers and be terrified that they're gonna fuck this up royally but I still have faith that the company is gonna get the right people in there at some point to build stories like professional writers and they're gonna roll with something like this to the point where people will wanna pay $40 for a PPV to see what's gonna happen to this character.

He brainwashes Damien to his side, who believes that the Wyatt way is the way to truly help the unwashed masses.

Good point. I'd argue that Harper fits the WWE mold a bit more than most of the guys with the "Independent Background" up to this point. I'd even argue that he is probably the most likely to be a breakout star out this batch, excepting Big E. Langston.

Pretty much. I don't have a problem with "insert wrestler". I do when people place unrealistic expectations on them. Every has a certain role.
