Fantasy Football 2013
Hi,
Yahoo have put up fantasy football. Feel free to sign up League ID#: 5410 League Name: TPWW Custom League URL: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/tpww All comments about scoring, positions, etc welcome |
Cyberfunk Apocalypse is going to run this
Can we have a snake draft this time?
This league moved away from a snake draft a while ago, and I have no interest in going back to one.
Also, I checked my stats, and it looks like it will be my 9th year in this league, and 10th playing FFB. Pretty cool.
Just dont spent 70 bucks for one guy and you'll be fine NBT.
Does anyone want to be co/assist commish?
What would that entail, besides just ok-ing trades?
Not much really. Just making sure that everything is ticking over. It just means that if I am out of contact for a month for example then there is someone who can deal with things.
I'll be happy to.
Done. It is also useful because I don't check into the forums very often so I might miss something.
Do feel free to recruit more players. |
I am down..
Switch it to 12 teams, dickheads..
We had 16 last year, and as far as I know, and it gets changed based on amount of interest. I doubt we will have a 20 team league.
I'd say we're about as likely to change it to 12 just for you as you are to change your ellipsis to three dots. I like smaller leagues too, but I also prefer getting as many forum people in as possible (provide they actually end up playing instead of missing the draft and not playing with their shitty team). |
I don't want anybody to miss the draft. Seriously, it's booked long enough in advance that there's no reason to miss it.
Auto-drafts fuck up auction leagues. Usually the auto-drafting team will get screwed in the long run but it's a lock that they'll overbid for a few stars that nobody else in the league gets a chance at having. |

Anyway anyone who actually wants to have a relaxed fantasy football experience, holler at me around training camp cause im sure I'll have room in one of my 10 leagues I play in.. All are welcome, except boomer.. |

Yes nothing will change in anyones life in the next three monthes.. Jesus you guys are fuckng losers.. |
Says the guy who calls people dickheads for no reason! :)

I invited Kris P because I know he plays and won't disappear midseason like the 3 or 4 players in last year's league. |
The league is currently set to 20 teams. It doesn't need to be expanded, Krisp is asking to shut down spots.
Oh shit, my bad. I looked at the league page and thought it had been limited to the 10 that had signed up and was closed to new people since a quarter of the league stopped playing last year. My fault.

It's one thing if you've got some sort of important personal matter that pops up. Shit happens. But every year there are like 2-3 people that are just like "FUUUUUUCK TOTALLY FORGOT". |
How do I join?!?!?! I don't see the button that says sign up.

It has been set to 20 teams since Kris P started complaining. Nothing has changed. :)
20 teams :wtf:
There's not even 20 good QBs. Just make sure a passing touchdown is 6 points. Fuck this pussy Yahoo 4 point shit. |
The chance of us making 20 teams is slim. I presume Moonax just put an open number there for keeping it open-ended.
And I completely disagree with changing passing TDs to 6. The top 5 point-scorers in the league were at QB last year (9 of the top 10 as well); I'm not for the rich getting richer. |

The league is always set to allow the maximum number of people to participate.
It is not intended to be a narrow elitist league but one which is open to new players. A larger league does make players more valuable. In a small league everyone can have a stud RB, a star WR and a star QB. There is very little skill or thought needed in constructing a roster. You can dip into the FA pool and pull out a decent replacement without having to think about it. A larger league means that there are more people drinking from the same pool. It means that you actually have to give some thought to constructing your roster. Scoring is set the same as last year. Passing Yards 25 yards per point Passing Touchdowns 6 Interceptions -2 Sacks -1 Rushing Yards 10 yards per point Rushing Touchdowns 6 Receptions 0.5 Reception Yards 10 yards per point Reception Touchdowns 6 Return Yards 20 yards per point Return Touchdowns 6 2-Point Conversions 2 Fumbles -1 Fumbles Lost -2 Offensive Fumble Return TD 6 Kickers Field Goals 0-19 Yards 3 Field Goals 20-29 Yards 3 Field Goals 30-39 Yards 3 Field Goals 40-49 Yards 4 Field Goals 50+ Yards 5 Point After Attempt Made 1 Defensive Players Tackle Solo 1 Tackle Assist 0.5 Sack 3 Interception 3 Fumble Force 2 Fumble Recovery 2 Defensive Touchdown 6 Safety 2 Pass Defended 1 Block Kick 3 2 Tackles for Loss 1 Turnover Return Yards 10 yards per point One requirement of the league is a developed set of social skills in which you can articulate your thoughts rationally, intelligently and coherently. |
Oh shit I totally thought we had passing TDs as 4 instead of 6. Maybe we had it set that way in the past? Can't remember. No wonder QBs dominated last year though. Just from a minor check of stats, Drew Brees would still have had the second most points in the league instead of first with 4 points per TD instead of 6 (Since AP is the only non-QB in the top 10). I might argue that we change it to 4, but I don't think it would get a lot of traction, so its not a big deal. Guess it just makes playing with a mid-tier QB more viable.
It's been 6 points across the board as long as I can recall.
I'd argue that with IDP in particular, investing all your money in a stud QB is not necessarily the way to go. Several times last year it was my D, or a solid performance from WR3 or my flex player that saved me. Every player is a hit away from being out for the season, so personally I'd always try to avoid doing my nuts on one player. This however, is just my personal point of view. |
Defense is a big deal in our league mostly because some people just don't understand how IDP works and the difference can be like 30+ points between those who plan for it and those who don't. But those QB numbers are crazier than I expected them to be.
 IDP
How does IDP effect the "percent started" stat? Does it take into effect the leagues that don't even have IDP at all?

You should have a join link from there. |
don't hold that dummy's hand

Plus almost everyone has a game (usually an important game) where their QB throws 3 ints gets sack 5 times and fumbles twice giving them -5 for the game. |
It certainly is a far change from when I had to guarantee myself to pick RBs with my first two picks in a snake draft.

Seriously, I click "Choose a League" and it just gives me a list of leagues open. I do not see a place where I put in our info to have it pulled up.
take it as a sign
NO! Team Gorm is suppose to have each others back! :(
did Hulk Hogan ever run in to help Big Bubba Rogers win a match?
He put him over in a promo though!
Plus I am Road Dogg! Silly goose.
I had to accept the invite on the main fantasy page. The other league needs to be started too
I don't wish to seem cruel, however, I am. If you can not follow a series of links to join up then I suspect that potentially fantasy football is beyond you.
Consider it to be a test - if you pass it then you have proved that you are able to play. If you can't pass it then FF is not for you. |
FUTBOL.

You aren't really doing a very good of making me want to help you.
I don't want to be in your inactive league anyways.
Somehow I don't think we'll lose anything by you not participating.

I'm sorry, I'll see myself out. |
we now are going to be playing without Boomer and Ruien
I'm thinking 'Aaron Hernandez's prison daddy' for a team name?
Too soon? |
That's a brilliant name. Really thinking of going outside the box with some of my picks this season. I think there are some sleepers out there.
your REAL 2011 champion looking to reclaim his title this year
Hey, anyone want to join a(nother) fantasy league? my league has 3 spots open this year. The draft is in a couple weeks. I think I have to send you an invite, so holler at me with an email address and I'll get you in.
Still 2 spots left. Draft is next Sunday (the 25th)
hollaaaaaaaa |
how the hell is there not enough people yet, Wadding?
Id like to join, Dave. How many teams and what are the specs on it?
we have 12 teams max. the only really special thing is you get a half point per reception oh, and 6 points per passing TD, because why is a TD worth 4 points to a QB, but 6 to a receiver/rb?. auction style draft
Quote:
Damn, auction style? Not well versed in auctions.
yeah. you have a budget of like 260$ or something and you have to fill your team. So if Jay Cutler comes up, everyone bids on him and the highest bid wins and drafts him to their team. Way more fair / conducive to having a "draft strategy"
Yeah, I get how it works. Just hard to nail down a strategy.
thru yahoo or other?
Yahoo
Im in, sure why not
Auction drafts are the best, although for IDP they are a horrible long taking nightmare
This is why my league is non IDP
I actually like the IDP league, the draft just takes 13 hours
IDP is fun when it's actually in the season though |
Just as a heads up the league drafts next sunday.
So if anyone still wants to join there is plenty of room. |
Is there a way to make the fantasy team page look like it normally does and not this green backscreen stuff?
Oh god...we actively tried to bait Krispy's autodraft into picking a bad team, and instead Yahoo rated that he had the best draft of anybody.
yeah, but wait until Lynch is a disappointment, Marshall can't do shit, and DeMarco Murray tears out his knee 3 weeks in a row.
He has like every injury risk possible.
...and i have his boy Drew Breese. Make an offer Kris P. :D
Kris is not ever going to look at his team.
Yeah I know, but I thought i'd try to tempt him with the horrible knowledge that I've got his QB.
So outside of Krispy, nobody else gets draft grades. Apparently Yahoo's new draft grades feature is only for conventional drafts. Gay. :(
Seems like yahoo is having some sort of chat in 10 minutes. Might want to go there to tear them a new asshole for the stats in the draft thing being difficult to read and the entire new interface in general.

Sadly Yahoo for every good innovation, Yahoo introduces 5 shit innovations. |
Goddamn Yahoo, I have been shit-talking ESPN's fantasy platform on the forum here for weeks and then Yahoo goes and makes theirs worse. Assholes.
Anyway. Draft is at 1:00 or so right? I might have to duck out early, have a pickup softball game around 4:00. By then should be down to the nitty gritty anyway and hopefully I'll have most of my team picked out. crossrine |
Probably only able to make the first half hour of the draft now. Can't wait to see what ridiculous team autodraft comes up with.
Just blow most of your auction money on 3-4 stud players so the autodraft won't fuck you too much
crossrine |

Oh yeah? Haven't done any auctions this year yet so I've yet to see that. Usually Yahoo lists the "Projected price" (their price, basically), then the "Average price" (what has actually been happening), and AFAIK they would always autobid you up to the projected price. That's why if you're with autodrafters it's hilarious to nominate kickers early on because the autodrafters would instantly bid up to the projected price of like $6-7 for a kicker. Excellent.
If it goes off the "average price" now, that makes a little more sense. Gives a more accurate representation of player value. That being said, if you do need to leave early, it is wise to spend money fast and early on guys you want on your team, to ensure you have your team mostly sorted how you'd like it. Better to blow $150 on 5 players you know are going to be studs than have the engine spend that money on 7-8 guys who you didn't want. crossrine |
Yeah. I had the first nomination in last Sunday's draft so I nominated Gostkowski hoping to start a bidding war but the AI didn't budge. Didn't care though as it got me my kicker for a buck. Will probably do the same thing in the next draft just to get the kicker spot out of the way.
Legatron or bust
crossrine |
I want to screw over an autodraft team so badly. Just drafting shitty players who the autodraft will bid on. Totally fill up a guys roster with crap.
We did it with Krispy, but he still wound up with like Arian Foster, Brandon Marshall, etc. only surefire way to pull it off is to have everybody nominate shitty/mediocre players early on. And it's rare to get everybody to cooperate. |
Yeah, but then at that point the draft kind of loses its fun. :-\ Just becomes a spitefest for the one or two people who may have had legit reasons for not being there
crossrine |
I get that an all, but I dunno. Seem to remember a baseball auction league a few months back where autopick spent a guys entire budget on like the 4 best players in the league and he wound up winning the league by a mile.
I guess in the NFL it's not as sure of a thing because of injuries and stuff, but it's still annoying knowing that so many good players will be out of reach unless you decide to match autopick's mental retardation. |
I want to know what the autodraft will do if someone picks Aaron Hernandez. I'm assuming that they have some way of 'training' autopick not to pick those and injured players.

My real problem is that the autopicker bids like an asshole and always waits until the last second to make the bid higher. Can't get any good value picks with people autopicking. |
