The June 6th TNA iMPACT Thread
TNA iMPACT for June 6th
Slammiversary was this past Sunday, shit happened. Also, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will be appearing tonight. http://www.impactwrestling.com/image...s/rampage5.jpg ^Image courtesy of Heisenberg. :-\ |
Since I'm going to be watching I figured I'd go ahead and post in case anyone wants to join.
I might watch it, but I'll probably watch it tomorrow. So I can skip commercials, and any time Hulk Hogan is on screen.
:shifty: nWo shirt sighting :shifty:
I want what just happened gif'ed yo, Bully Ray and bearded midget stare down to kick off Impact!
Shit, I missed that.
As cheesy as it is I enjoy Bully Ray's current gimmick.
Oh. I thought this started at 8 and figured there were no live streams at my usual locations only because it was TNA.
I enjoy the nostalgia of Hulk Hogan being on my TV in 2013.
He's weird as fuck on the mic nowadays though. lol |
I enjoy the BFG series.

So I feel like the smart thing to do would be to have AJ Styles win the BFG series and challenge Bully Ray for the title as a "lone wolf" who isn't doing it for TNA but for himself.
AJ needs it. |

Not .gif form, but here is the stare down to kick off the show. Kind of looks like Paul Bearer is in spirit form photobombing this moment |
I'm watching TNA live for the first time in quite a while and I feel like this thread is gonna resemble that Destination X PPV thread where it was just St. Jimmy talking to himself for 5 pages.
But yeah. From what I've seen from AJ Styles' current character, he is loner Sting at the moment. Not affiliated with TNA or Aces and 8's. It's literally the exact same story of Sting with the NWO/WCW angle but it seems like a good way to get AJ over for good. The next logical step is for AJ to be the man to win the BFG series and for TNA as a company to want to bring him back to their side so that he can bring the title back.

A.J. also has the anti-WWE aura to him as well, similar to Sting's stance.

It's time for them to make their #1 homegrown guy look above the WWE talent and push him for more than a couple months as THE guy. |

Hernandez is a brick shithouse, moves real well for a big guy too.
lol. Chavo "angrily" kicking the ropes right there was a ridiculous attempt at acting mad.

And they'll continue to do that. |
My satellite signal has gone down, no bad weather. :(
I never said it was a problem with AJ. It's COMPLETELY a TNA booking problem. And pushing AJ in the way I described would be a good way to take big strides toward fixing that. Have him be the savior to take the title from Aces and 8's while TNA is trying to bring him back to their side.
And don't push him back down to the TV Title picture 6 months later. |

Joseph Park appearance?
Yep!
Fuck DirecTV do you have a stream?
I feel like Joseph Park/Abyss doesn't get enough credit for how good he is.
Probably because he does it in TNA where no one gets noticed for anything... But still. |

I enjoy this Joseph Park/Abyss thing.
It's nice to see a wrestling company try and not sit down and pull names out of hats for 10 minutes, put them in matches and collect a paycheck. |
For some reason, Robbie E reminds me of a mix between Lex Luger and Zack Ryder. I expected him to say "Superbrawl Saturday!?" at some point during that promo.
Samoa Joe is another guy that has been handled horribly. I remember when the guy was being booked as almost unbeatable. Another guy they fucked up royally when they got distracted by guys with names WWE made.
I was happy to see Shark Boy back for that brief moment for the James Storm storyline. Another TNA original
Quote:
But yea I feel like they have, creative wise, fucked over much of their earlier talent in favor of WWE guys. |
Rampage vs Angle could be awesome...
Wow, Noid called this kind of
lol. Jesus, Mike Tenay is awful sometimes. He just made Angle walking out seem completely unsurprising. Like he knew it was happening all along. How about a little excitement? Damn.
lol. That was weird. They could have milked that segment a little...
DirecTV went all 8bit for their handshake moment, damn them
I just watched the Joker's Wild One Night Only PPV the other day where Gunner and Crimson were discussing forming a tag team because they were getting ignored.
Now Gunner and James Storm are tag champs. |
Aww. I miss Mr. Kennedy.
It's a simple thing but I love it when champions win matches in non-title situations. I hate the whole thing where a champion loses when the title isn't on the line to make it seem like he might lose when it is on the line. It's fucking retarded. Your champions should look strong as fuck.
Hmm. That tweet from Sting has me thinking he's gonna say "Fuck you, TNA for leaving me to fight Aces & Eights on my own" and mentor AJ Styles to win the TNA title since he can't do it himself now.
Brooke thwarts her father's attempt at murder.
just checked Rampage's debut, pretty perfect way to go about it really. He looked comfortable promo wise/will only get better and if he has any kind of natural inkling for pro wrestling in terms of in-ring and picks up/is taught how to work a TV match/segment, he could do really well

it was yeah but at the same time, I doubt he'll be back on TV anytime soon, he'll be off to OVW or doing something with Bellator. I'd guess it was more of a "taster"
naturally now I've said that he'll be on TV every week from here on out |
As much as I've been against TNA shitting on their homegrown stars in the long run and relying on guys who made a name elsewhere, if Rampage can go in the ring, him as champion down the road would do AMAZING things for TNA.
TNA is moving in the right direction.
Yup. They'll be beating Saturday Morning Slam in the ratings by 2016.
You're just upset that your draft and destroy game was a fail
Might give TNA a watch. They haven't really done anything that has made me really want to, but there seems to be a decently positive buzz about them on here these days.
I agree with fan when he says that AJ Styles should be the one who wins the BFG Series and goes on to challenge Bully Ray for the TNA World Title at Bound For Glory. It's a simple storyline, but simple works in wrestling. When Styles lost that match last year (I think it may have been at Final Resolution) that meant he would not be able to challenge for the World Title until Bound For Glory, I always assumed that it would mean that would be the way they went. Until then, I sort of hoped that Styles would enjoy a nice reign as Television Champion, since it's the only singles championship he'd be able to win (if he were allowed to be X-Division Champion, he'd be able to get a World Title shot at Destination X). Styles would have made the TV Title mean a fair bit, having matches with Samoa Joe and the like.
It seems weird that they put Angle over Styles at Slammiversary, though. Long term, it makes sense. If Styles wins the World Title at BFG, it means he'll have an opponent all set up for him in Kurt Angle. Since Angle will almost definitely be in the BFG Series, he should be one wrestler who gets a win against Styles in the Series, further setting that match up. |
I am going to finally be watching this show now. As part of my new attempt to give TNA a third/fourth/fifth chance.
Jeff Hardy looks like he has no idea where he is. Just casually wandered onto the ramp and into the ring.
Just notice Hogan is wearing one plastic glove. Really weird.
Hernandez seems to have gone and got some real ugly tats
Good to see Chavo actually wrestle again. Forgot how good he was. Terrible frogsplash he attempted, though.
Literally have no idea what is up with this Joseph Park thing. Why is he still around? Is it building to them revealing that he is actually the same guy as Abyss?
Also, Abyss has terrible new music. Loved his old theme. |
Hahaha. Rampage Jackson enterting.
Tazz: "This is a very dangerous man, this is a bad man." *As Rampage starts slapping hands with little children* |
Kurt Angle seems to have one single strand of hair on the side of his head. Really distracting.
I see Gunner is still around, and is a good guy, and a champion. Is he still terrible?
Brooke Hogan scares me
Mickie James seems to have lost weight.
I will also watch TNA maybe since Chris Sabin is back and wrestling and he is the best
unless they're doing that referee cam thing they were doing last time I watched still |
Terrible ending to the show. Other then that, pretty good. I liked how everything on the show seemed to have a point to it. No filler or pointless matches.
I thought the ending was fine. Brooke's basically admitting that she cares for Bully, which was a pretty big plot point.
I like that Chavo Guerrero is in TNA. There seems to be a lot of hate for him because he's "Eddie's nephew," but he really is a good worker, and it's not like they're trying to pass him off as a World Title contender. Yet. He may end up with a spot in the Bound For Glory Series or something, but I don't think that would be terrible.
Well, when he debuted in TNA they hyped him up by talking about how great Eddie was.
Yeah, I saw that. They passed him off as being part of the legendary Guerrero family. That's probably the best way to sell Chavo. Then let his ring skills do the rest.
Quote:
Now they just need to learn how to push guys in the long term and they may have something going.
Quote:
I agree. But that's fine and that's pretty much where Chavo is -- he's tearing it up in the tag team division, which isn't exactly the World Title program.
Watching the latest episode now. What the hell has gone on with Matt Morgan? Seems like he hasn't shaved since the last time I watched TNA, and now he is wearing a yellow cape to the ring.
Apparently, he stole that robe from Hogan.
Also, when did AJ Styles become an "emo"?
AJ "I just want my kids back" Styles
That all started where he lost the fall in a match where the loser of the fall was not allowed to get a shot at the World title until the next Bound For Glory. After busting his ass for the company since day one, the thanks he got was the ridicule of being accused of impregnating a drug addict and being put in that position at all. Aces and Eights tried to recruit him, but he realizes that they are dicks too. Now, he wrestles for no one but himself.
It all makes a lot of sense, really. |
I love AJ's gimmick and the story line they are doing. It is Sting 96-97 all over again, but its different enough to enjoy the ride.
I have to admit I kinda love this Joseph Park stuff. The guy is doing a great job and it's cool that they've made what seemed like ti was gonna just be a short-lived storyline into just keeping both characters around.
I don't get the Joseph Park thing. Unless the idea is to build to revealing Joseph and Abyss as one and the same, I don't see the point of it.
I'm guessing that is probably the endgame. As it stands now it's just one guy playing two very different characters. It doesn't really need a "point" at the moment.
