Based on early impressions and the move guide shown for the demo, Killer Instinct is getting the "Mortal Kombat" treatment for rebooting the controls.
Less focus on the traditional dial-a-combo string system and more towards a simpler button-based system. |

Before a certain time I didn't have 'mains', just characters I picked a lot because I liked their design as characters. I still do pick characters I like as characters, but now I do have mains that I play better than the rest of the roster. All's I'm saying; Orchid was one of those characters. Happy to see her new look.

Arcade mode won't arrive until both Fulgore and Spinal are released, Dojo Mode is full of depth, and Survival Mode takes some inspiration from Mortal Kombat's Challenge Tower.

Few nights ago me, Khuntry, and a bud had a cool session exploring the game at the mall. This game is so sex. Very hype with more cerebral shit to consider than you think. I love it. I took the night with Orchid, but Khuntry had another go while I was at work and reportedly got will nasty with Thunder.
I messed with Sadira a bit. While she certainly seems like a character I'd use, I'm gonna stick with Orchid exclusively for the long haul. |

Not great at fighters that move this fast and are this combo heavy.(See: My awful attempts to play MvC) But this isn't quite as fast as that, so I'll give this a chance.
By the time I have an Xbox One, there should be a much deeper character roster. That's kind of important to me, as I don't typically stick to a small group of characters. I like to play everyone but a small group. |
This is combo heavy but in the sense that you're thinking. MvC and just about every other game treats combos as a one-way conversation. Killer Instinct keeps players competing even during combos. Especially during combos, even.
You simply must play it. |

This game is easily the most user-friendly fighting game i've ever played. There is some structure to those combos, but not any way you may think.

Hasnt Iron Galaxy pretty much done ports of fighting games? Thought they brought over Darkstalkers and MvC, but I could be mistaken.
They may do great, who knows. I mean, Double Helix wasnt known for doing ANY fighting game up until KI, and they nailed it. Only thing I remember DH did was Silent Hill Homecoming |
They've done ports of a bunch of games, but they haven't done much themselves. That said, I scoffed at Divekick at first, but after watching a bunch of videos, I was surprised at how much depth they were able to get into such a simple concept.
