You always hear directors gloat about having the cast they wanted but the cast for this movie literally sounds like James Gunn is a lucky motherfucker.

Yeah that really is criminal. This had better be the best Marvel film yet, just to make up for it.

According to imdb, Michael Rooker stars as Yondu, some blue guy, so apparently not his dream job as a raccoon. Gonna watch it anyway, cause I love me some Michael Rooker.

Loved the way he went in Walking Dead.

Hmm. Not 100% sold on the Nova Corps uniforms, but they're not bad I guess.

More "important" Novas could have different costumes maybe. Those seem like maybe guard/sentry types. Dunno. Probably wrong.

Those are low level Nova soldiers. The Nova we know could get his own movie if this goes well. They may go with the new kid, though. I have a feeling.

Yeah he coincided with a relaunched Nova series in the books starring a kid Nova. When Marvel goes cross-media like that you can expect it to remain consistent. A Nova movie now would almost certainly use the kid, or go halfway and de-age Richard Rider a bit.

So Bradley Cooper is Rocket Raccoon. I like him but I can't help but feel Russel Crow would have been fucking awesome.

While principle photography is completed, Vin has been seen on the set of Fast 7 in stilts he must use during motion capture for Groot. Like Hulk in Avengers it seems Marvel wants as much physical from the actor as anything.

Because Asgard doesn't know this, and we would very much like to move along to the Infinity Gauntlet storyline of presumably Avengers 3.

Thought that looked pretty interesting. I know little to nothing of these guys, and so for me and the majority of other people, that was the best way to go about the trailer by having a little introduction of each character.

I didn't see Karen Gillan anywhere though :(

They weren't nearly as subversive as what Guardians is looking like. All the MCU movies have their fair share of humor, particular all the Phase 2 stuff following The Avengers precedent for comedic levity, but Guardians is the first one to really run with that as a base rather than an extra ingredient.

Also compare the marketing; the other Phase 2 movies revealed themselves with dead serious trailers with their comedy discovered at launch. Guardians' first trailer is a comedic one, and I presume the other trailer [in the Spring] will also present comedy as well as giving us Rocket and Groot's first dialogue. As an inverse of the other movies, we'll eventually see that the Guardians are dealing with arguably heavier shit than the other MCU heroes have had to - with only Thor coming close by saving reality itself by angry elves. If the comics are anything to go by, the Guardians run by some major dudes out there.

I think their movie sets up Phase 3 more than Avengers 2 probably will, since Phase 3 is probably gonna be balls to the wall 'we sold a talking raccoon we can do anything' material.

This sort of made the trailer make more sense, still not on hyper mode but a lot more warmed up to it

I wonder if they could adapt Annihilation to the screen, or if Annihilus would fall under Fox's Fantastic Four rights.

It's alright not liking this, dronepool. You shouldn't have seek out a way to enjoy it, that's more than any piece of work deserves.

It's not that I dislike it, it looks better than I thought I'm just not 'hyped up'. I like Marvel enough to watch it but Winter Solider and ASM2 have my attention if I decide to go to the movies.

Well being hyped up isn't a requisite or anything. Sometimes things don't click.

I will go see this opening night. But wish they had used the original Guardians of the Galaxy team. But that team seems to have been forgotten after how popular the new team has become. I discovered the original team back in the late 70s when they were appearing in Marvel Two in One and The Defenders. Plus I have always like alternative futures.
