Karen Gillan is Nebula, Djimon Honsou is Koranth, Lee Pace is Ronan the Accuser, Benicio Del Toro is The Collector
You always hear directors gloat about having the cast they wanted but the cast for this movie literally sounds like James Gunn is a lucky motherfucker.
Whatttttt Karen Gillan shaved her head for this. I kinda hate this film for that reason alone.
Yeah that really is criminal. This had better be the best Marvel film yet, just to make up for it.
According to imdb, Michael Rooker stars as Yondu, some blue guy, so apparently not his dream job as a raccoon. Gonna watch it anyway, cause I love me some Michael Rooker.
Loved the way he went in Walking Dead. |
Low-level Nova guard:

Sony Walkman an essential part of his gear

How has Batista been ignored in here??? |
Check the very first reply, bro
Does Karen Gillan even have a big part?
She's Thanos' grand daughter, so I imagine its not that small.

Michael Rooker and Karen Gillan look like twins!!!!!
Hmm. Not 100% sold on the Nova Corps uniforms, but they're not bad I guess.
More "important" Novas could have different costumes maybe. Those seem like maybe guard/sentry types. Dunno. Probably wrong.
Vin Diesel is apparently going to be the voice of Groot.
http://www.deadline.com/2013/08/vin-...-disney-groot/ |
Those are low level Nova soldiers. The Nova we know could get his own movie if this goes well. They may go with the new kid, though. I have a feeling.
oh thank God he isn't Vision

Small portion of the Comicon footage here. Watch while you can.

Doesn't seem to be working.
Unfortunate. Works fine for me.
Weird, working fine now. Liking the look of it.
I love Rocket Raccoon already.
Also, Batista looks intense. |
Kind of strange they had that much footage ready when it had only really started shooting.
Feel like this movie is going to be what I was hoping the Green Lantern film would be.
Not really loving the Star Lord look.
His eyes are creepy. |
loveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveit
This is gonna be fun.
dunno if I'll be able to focus on anything other than how adorable the raccoon is

Yeah he coincided with a relaunched Nova series in the books starring a kid Nova. When Marvel goes cross-media like that you can expect it to remain consistent. A Nova movie now would almost certainly use the kid, or go halfway and de-age Richard Rider a bit.
So Bradley Cooper is Rocket Raccoon. I like him but I can't help but feel Russel Crow would have been fucking awesome.
While principle photography is completed, Vin has been seen on the set of Fast 7 in stilts he must use during motion capture for Groot. Like Hulk in Avengers it seems Marvel wants as much physical from the actor as anything.
that explains why Bradley Cooper's been spotted dressed like a raccoon.
SPOILER: show |
What's being spoiled here? Looks like the line-up scene from SDCC.

I can totally see it.
Zoe Saldana looks good in anything.
Wasn't that shot in the trailer?
Also, bummed Mantis didn't make the team. Maybe in a sequel I suppose. |
This is the finished version of the con teaser.
Speaking of, I'd love a full trailer by now. |

what's meh' about it?
Gamora really needs her red/yellow eye things. Looks like generic Star Trek green alien without them.
She looks more like mantis without the face markings. Which would be fine if she was Mantis. But she's not. So, yeah. Get that fucking shit fixed.
So which one of the Avengers will cameo at the end of this biatch?
Ironman. No one else matters like Tony Stark.
That's who I am going with. Aside from Thor, Iron Man is the only one with any mention of travelling into deep space
Seriously guys, it'll be Nova (kid version).
I guess "Dick Rider" isn't a media friendly name....
Thor and his world are a lot closer to all the cosmic stuff, so I'm gonna go with that.
Is The Collector part of GoG? Or is he an ancillary character? I'm not familiar with the franchise.
He's in the movie. Bad guy.
So why would Thor entrust one of the Infinity Stones with him if he's a bad guy?
Because Asgard doesn't know this, and we would very much like to move along to the Infinity Gauntlet storyline of presumably Avengers 3.
Thank you and pardon my ignorance.

Utterly ridiculous.
In a good way or a bad way?
John C. Reilly seems really out of place in this setting
Hot. Gimme now.
Loooooooove it.
I'd say so far, so good.
Looking forward to it. Perfect tone for these characters.
A good way fellas. The MCU needed this.
Fucking fantastic.
Very reminiscent of the 2008-10 run of the book. That is a very, very, very good thing, for those that don't know. |
It looks okay, but I'm not hyped like I am for Cap 2 and Spider-Man 2.
I'm starting to think you're not interested in this, dronepool.
Love it! :D
Thought that looked pretty interesting. I know little to nothing of these guys, and so for me and the majority of other people, that was the best way to go about the trailer by having a little introduction of each character.
I didn't see Karen Gillan anywhere though :( |
Oh sweet. I did actually see that, didnt recognise her though/noticed the bloke more cause for a second I thought it was Dave Grohl lol
Honestly the MCU needed a movie like this. Light tone, good action, I am Groot.
I can't wait. |
Ok, now I'm interested.

They weren't nearly as subversive as what Guardians is looking like. All the MCU movies have their fair share of humor, particular all the Phase 2 stuff following The Avengers precedent for comedic levity, but Guardians is the first one to really run with that as a base rather than an extra ingredient.
Also compare the marketing; the other Phase 2 movies revealed themselves with dead serious trailers with their comedy discovered at launch. Guardians' first trailer is a comedic one, and I presume the other trailer [in the Spring] will also present comedy as well as giving us Rocket and Groot's first dialogue. As an inverse of the other movies, we'll eventually see that the Guardians are dealing with arguably heavier shit than the other MCU heroes have had to - with only Thor coming close by saving reality itself by angry elves. If the comics are anything to go by, the Guardians run by some major dudes out there.
I think their movie sets up Phase 3 more than Avengers 2 probably will, since Phase 3 is probably gonna be balls to the wall 'we sold a talking raccoon we can do anything' material. |
This sort of made the trailer make more sense, still not on hyper mode but a lot more warmed up to it
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/yc4FlikNHeM?list=UU20DNxT_UjT49mYOIocJAww" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I wonder if they could adapt Annihilation to the screen, or if Annihilus would fall under Fox's Fantastic Four rights.
It's alright not liking this, dronepool. You shouldn't have seek out a way to enjoy it, that's more than any piece of work deserves.
It's not that I dislike it, it looks better than I thought I'm just not 'hyped up'. I like Marvel enough to watch it but Winter Solider and ASM2 have my attention if I decide to go to the movies.
Well being hyped up isn't a requisite or anything. Sometimes things don't click.
Just watched the full trailer. That looks really funny!

A very brief look at Rocket Raccoon, featuring a quick listen to his voice. It works, I think.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/0Udzfdl2xuw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Has a slight Chucky thing goin.
I will go see this opening night. But wish they had used the original Guardians of the Galaxy team. But that team seems to have been forgotten after how popular the new team has become. I discovered the original team back in the late 70s when they were appearing in Marvel Two in One and The Defenders. Plus I have always like alternative futures.
