UFC Undisputed 2014
Supposed to be new game footage released today at the EA Sports thingy
I know they've added fighters like Nick Diaz and Overeem but what other changes are you looking for? Personally, I want leg kicks to count. You can sit back and leg kick the fuck out of a guy for a whole round and they are no worse for the wear. I hope you can do a Pride FC career. I liked the changes they made in the last one to improve the grappling/submission section but it still needs improvement IMO Do you think EA will do a better job the THQ? New gameplay videos to come |
Looking forward to EA taking this over. People tend to shit on them for whatever reason, but I like their sports offerings.
|
Yeah, all of their sports games are legit

Are you required to wear fingerless gloves and a Tapout shirt with a neck tattoo while playing this?
|
Is the Ultimate Warrior in this Ultimate Fighting game?

Weird how he looks real but not real
|
|
How is there not more info and videos on this if it's coming this spring?
|
they have been very secretive about it
|
Dunno how wise that is from a marketing perspective.
I don't know why either. It's a sports game. Not like there are plot details that could get revealed or anything. |
|
i was never a fan of these games' controls while on the ground. hopefully there's some change to them

lol what
|
Yeah that makes sense....
|
Knew it was gonna be Bruce Lee. The only other option was Roy Jones Jr but then they said he would be available in 4 different weight classes. Im guessing Lee will be available in 135, 145, 155, 170. Maybe 125-155.
|
Bruce Lee vs Rennan Barao makes my panties moist
|
Wikipedia has him listed as featherweight. I think he was around 125 in real life.
|
Yeah he walked around at like 125-135ish
Prolly be 125-155 but I want to see him fight GSP |

Royce Gracie hasn’t fought in the Octagon since 2006, but soon, he’ll be back… if only virtually.
EA Sports on Tuesday revealed that Gracie would be one of the unlockable characters in the new EA Sports UFC video game. Much like the recently announced Bruce Lee character, EA Sports UFC gamers will be able to unlock and fight as Gracie’s character by either taking the black belt route of finishing the game on its Pro setting or going the white belt way and pre-ordering the game for immediate access |

Looking good.

Demo arriving on June 3rd.

Just played the demo, feels like shit. Might just be that I'm used to the thq games but I really don't care for this much so far
|
There are a couple things that feel unnecessarily complicated, compared to the THQ games, but otherwise, I really like it. Strikes feel really good, takedowns feel even better. Almost knocked the dude out with a back suplex.
The visuals are amazing. This is easily best looking game to come out for next gen so far. I remember some industry rep saying that it will take a couple more generations for animations to reach the same level as the visuals, but god damn it looks pretty realistic to me. I think once I get used to the new controls I'll really like this. Getting this day one. |
Also, I'm liking the new submission system. Improvement over THQ's, imo.
|
I think this is really bad.
|
Graphically it does look really nice. It looks even better in cutscenes when you're out of gameplay.
The fighting system is too fast paced and the commentary is almost terrible. (That could be a demo thing though and they saved most of the lines for the actual game) |
I'm not a sports or UFC guy but this is close enough to a fighting game to give the demo a few rounds.
- The input response, personally, is a tad too sluggish for something where a stray jab or knee will down your ass. Blocking is very sluggish and I swear normals (neutral attack) come out slower and less accurate than command normals (direction attack). What's perplexing is the movement and right stick functions are silky smooth and spot on, so this was some kind of intended thing that limb attacks are slow to the input. - Perhaps you guys can help me... I'm a smart guy, I get shit. But the submission system is completely beyond me. It is not intuitive. I get what they're going for, but it just doesn't mesh in those do or die situations. Most egregiously, in one instance I honestly didn't know if I was applying a submission, getting put into one, fighting it, or applying pressure. The interface did absolutely nothing to clue in. I just moved the right and left sticks like a damn newb. Like, new to videogames newb. Maybe you guys get it, but I don't think it's the most intuitive thing. I got used to a lot of WWE gimmick mechanics, I give huge passes for this. - I find the THQ UFC games to have made a greater emphasis on landing and receiving hits. Oddly enough, the Fight Night games of the studio's own pedigree even had clear effects of hits. There's a 'liquid-y' quality of contact in this game that never convinces me of the distinction of a wayward jab and a jab that shifts the momentum. In fact, I'm only informed of a good hit when the crowd FX and the commentators note as such. And yeah I guess the stun animation shows the guy reeling, but I am no closer to knowing what situation led to a good hit that I can apply in the future. So in the next game I'm just kinda throwing hits and timing my attack sort of hoping I connect during my opponent's weak periods. I need to know what a good and bad hit is. - The ground game is, despite the hoopla of being a EA Sports game now, is largely emulated from the THQ games. This isn't a bad thing, and only cements that perhaps that's the optimum system such a thing. The transitions are very responsive (making the attack inputs being sluggish so strange!). Defending against transitions and taking control works well. Maybe the best thing about the combat engine (again, mostly lifted from the THQ games). - I just don't agree that LB(L1) should be the power shiftkey. It's awkward. - Power take-downs feels good though. |
I think even graphically it's not a huge step up from the older ones, I'd say ryse, shit as it is, has been the best game I've seen so far graphically. I do like the knockouts, throwing a combo and watching it wobble someone is satisfying but then I've noticed if they fall to the ground and you don't pounce they just lie on the ground visibly fucked for 5 seconds, the sort of thing that would end a fight in real life. I agree with kalyx about the submission system being weird and the lb being a power trigger being weird. Blocking and sprawling feels convoluted also.
|
Doesnt feel like steps forward from the THQ games in all honesty. Like Kalyx said, the ground game is virtually the same (not a bad thing though). Maybe I need more time with it, but I feel as if the striking system is largely a guessing game. I dont see where the modifiers are that will allow me to attack only your legs...is it holding forward and attacking?
Dunno....i'll rent it and give it some time, but i'm not really falling instantly in love with this. |

A bit more on the submission system. |
Not impressed so far
|
Had quite a bit of fun with this one. Each fight turns out differently due to the strengths/weaknesses of each character. Some fighters I find it much easier to escape takedowns than others, transition, etc.
Striking feels great too, if you are not a button masher. Played 25 matches with the same two fighters and won 17 of them. Most losses came from "flash" KO's or me not watching my stamina and failblocking heavy strikes. |
Yeah this game has been hit or miss for me. Im the type of guy to do all the challenges before moving on to the big dance, but a lot of these actions seem random. Case in point:
1)The fact that I can cleanly land some HARD hits and Joe Whatever has an iron chin, but his jab sure can do damage 2) Doing the clinch takedown challenges, there's no way to really fight to get the takedown...it either happens, or it doesnt. Overall, feels like they left out a lot of what THQ had in place, which is expected, but at the same time, some of these items should have laid the foundation towards this game. |
I find that precise strikes do more damage than strikes with hard modifiers. Unless the opponent has zero, or next to zero stamina, I throw normals and it fares quite well.
Same with takedowns - wait for low stamina. When they have low stamina the likelihood of them sprawling is much, MUCH lower. The thing that is most wonky for me is the submission system. It works and all, just feels.... cluttered or something. |
a waste of 60 bucks. so far this game is just a slightly prettier version of the last ones
|
I enjoyed the demo, but the mixed reviews worry me. Will probably wait till it comes down in price abit.

I don't think any game is worth $60.
|
How is the career mod?
I heard it has TUF on it |
Is Bruce Lee way better than everyone else or did they balance him with the other characters.
|
Balanced from what I've seen. Maybe some spikes in certain stats to sell the legend. Like Jordan the few times he was in an NBA game.

Wish it was moar like Fight Night R4 esp. the defensive aspect to it (blocking and parrying is so terrible) and some clinches are near impossible to transition.
Belfort is TRT version, I can wreck niggas online in like a minute with him he is sickk. |
I still can't believe how under developed this game is. Ground game is garbage, other than blocking and hoping for a parry, you can't defend against leg kicks, and it may just be me, but I feel like NO damage carries over from one round to the next.
Only way to win is swinging for the fences for a KO via the head or body. |
