College Football 2013-14 Season Thread
Yeah, so it started today. This Ole Miss/Vanderbilt game has been completely fucking bonkers.
Demon Deacs won. Yeah
minor league football wooooo
VT gonna embarass 'Bama tomorrow.
Nah not really, probably won't be within 30. Tech sucks so bad now, or at least they did last year.
#HokiePride |
Lol Johnny Football is such a dick.
Teddy Bridgewater is ridiculous.
Yeah, as long as he stays healthy he'll definitely be the top QB taken in April, probably no later than #2 overall depending on Clowney. Should probably start looking for property in Oakland and/or Jacksonville.
23/28, 355 yds, 5 TD, and a pick. So good
Miami is beating up on Florida

Alabama and at least two other SEC schools likely to be getting investigated by the NCAA soon due to a recent report by Yahoo. Bama could end up loosing the 2012 BCS title depending on how strict the NCAA is with potential punishments.

NCAA needs to fuck off
Wow, Wisconsin just got straight up fucked.
Lane Kiffin fired. Fuck him.
When picking games with point spreads: Always take Air Force
Wyoming Cowboys are pretty good.
Hope Ohio State is happy and forgot about Northwestern next week. Third largest crowd ever at the Horseshoe. Kinda surprised about that.
Speaking of point spreads, always take NU. Guessing when the line opens they will be 20 point dogs. |
They were favorites this week and I blew it.

You just know he'll get an HC job for some desperate school or a once great program trying to get back on track. Nebraska, Tulane, Kentucky, Maryland, Penn State after Bill O'Brien goes pro...
Texas sounds desperate too. Would have to be a program that won't care if he's a dirtball as long as they win.
Point spread opened with NU as 5 or 5.5 point dogs. Thinking that line gets a lil larger as people start betting on Ohio State. I think ill still put money on NU. Huge game for their program. National TV game at night. Should be fun.
UConn fired Paul Pasqualoni this morning.
I saw this coming, but not until the end of the season. Please don't call Lane Kiffin. |
Either Lane Kiffin is the greatest interview ever or he digs up dirt on the AD/President before he interviews for a job.

College Gameday going to be in Evanston. Northwestern U is about to become upset city.
Thanks Florida State for annihilating Randy Edsall and Maryland for us Connecticut folk.
Want Tennessee to get their first big win in years so bad!
Northwestern might wanna start playing defense a little better if they wanna beat Ohio State
sigh......
The fact that Northwestern was in a primetime game against Ohio State and literally fought until the last second is something to be proud of. Fitzgerald has turned Northwestern into something potentially very special. They could be the Big 10's answer to Stanford in a couple of years if they can keep Fitzgerald. I don't care what Musburger says, if Texas or USC or some other big name program comes calling and has a huge bag of money, he might leave.
Only program I would worry about if they came calling would be Notre Dame. Being from the Chicago area, he wanted to play for them badly but they never gave him a scholarship offer which is how he wound up at NU in the first place. NU is building a giant multimillion dollar training complex on the lakefront here which they basically did for him and the football team (and the donations that come with a successful program obvs). He signed a big contract extension a couple of years ago in which they were criticized for overpaying, but its looking like the smart move now. In short, he aint Gary Barnett who had his foot halfway out the door anytime another school came calling. NU is very lucky to have an ultimate homer as its head coach in this case.
....oh and beat Wisconsin please. I want a rematch.
NU is getting there. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I'd be shocked if he left for a random top tier school just because of the cash. He isn't a Brian Kelly type who will ask the school for a few "exceptions". Its just not his bag. "Trust Yourself" doesn't work in a program like Texas and he knows it.
Sigh......to the Little Caesars Bowl we go I guess.
We are.... Going to upset OSU this weekend.
Don't really see how Alabama lose a game this year.
UConn sucks.
Can we just drop the program already. |
Holy shit my local college (and alma mater) is getting a shout out on ESPN. This guy is a monster.

Same story every year with the Ducks. They score a million points on hapless defenses, the hype machine cranks, and then after a couple of months they play a physical team and crumble like tinfoil. The final score tonight was misleading, wouldn't have been that close if Stanford didn't pump the breaks and switch to an ultra-conservative defense in the 4th.
Stanford is a legit program because of Jim Harbaugh. Credit to David Shaw for keeping the ball rolling, but it is definitely a big time program anymore.
"Ok." |
I am pumped for this game.
Fuck this is the college football thread
Michigan State Spartans.
Quote:
Should be a fun game, but if MSU loses today, they can kiss any Rose Bowl/other BCS game hopes goodbye. |
Well they've totally exceeded my expectations already.

I’m dreaming big until and unless something brings me and all the rest of the Sparty nation crashing down. And lets not forget, despite near disaster vs. Columbia yesterday, the MSU men’s hoops squad will be #1 in the land come Monday! #THISISSPARTA |
Aaaaand WCSU's time at the top of a record book is short lived. Cartel Brooks of Heidelberg is the new single-game rushing leader. 465 yards, beating the previous record by 10.

In other news, Auburn shocks the College Football world by taking down 'Bama.
The new top 5:
1. Florida State 2. Ohio State 3. Auburn 4. Alabama 5. Missouri Florida State should be locked in to the National Title game with a win over Duke next weekend. However there is a lot of thought that Ohio State needs to win convincingly over Michigan State to get in. Otherwise the SEC Title game winner will probably surpass them. Because the SEC is the only conference that really matters. |
Wish the four team playoff were this year. All those teams listed above can make a case.
Michigan State Spartans!
They've looked shockingly good. Too bad they'l get no at large consideration for a BCS bowl if they lose to Ohio State.

I wonder how many women in Alabama got the shit beaten out of them on Saturday.

SPARTANS! 12 WINS IN A SEASON FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! Also they are headed to the 100th Year of the Rose Bowl, which is very exciting. First trip there in 26 years...for perspective, on Jan. 1, '88 my brother was still (exactly) 4 weeks from being born.
Looks like all the BCS Bowls will be pretty damn good. Only concern is the projection of OU/Bama in the Sugar Bowl. My Sooners may just get the living shit beat out of them.
Praying it will be like Bama/Utah, since it is a very similar situation.
OU in any BCS game equals them getting the living shit kicked out of them.
They have only gotten the shit kicked out of them twice in BCS Bowls under Stoops. Really, only got the shit kicked out of them 3 times in the Stoops era. The rest have been close games where OU was favored and got beat by an underrated team.

That sure is clean to read
Tell Triple A to get WYSIWYG fixed.
Fixed it for your old and tired eyes, RoXer.
UConn hired the DC from Notre Dame to be it's new head coach.
Yeah okay. Like he's gonna fix everything just because he's from Notre Dame. |
ND must be about to fall off hard if he left to go to fucking UCONN. |
Nick Saban agrees to a contract extension with Bama. Wasn't revealed how much the extension is worth but keeps him at Alabama until 2020.
Looking forward to Colorado St. vs. Washington St. in the Gildan New Mexico bowl tomorrow. Have been to CSU's campus, way back in the summer of '97 and it is amazing.
Wonder if Gertner’s heard the BAD NEWS: Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio said in a statement just after midnight today that Max Bullough, just one of the many standout defensive players for MSU this year, would be suspended for the Rose Bowl due to what he would only go so far as to say was a violation of team rules.
The Rose Bowl would have been Bulloughs last game as a Spartan, and Dantonio went on to say that “Max will forever remain a Spartan and valued member in this team's achievements. We will have no further comment on this issue.” Fuck. Rest of the ‘D’ had really better be ready to step it up if they have any hope of beating Stanford. |
Mother fucking Spartans nigga!!!!!

But take it easy on the Nigga's!!! Now get out there and flip a car over! |
TIME TO BURN MY COUCH!!!!!!
Quote:
Most amazing play was Max Bullough’s replacement, Kyler (forgot his last name) jumped up and met the Stanford ball carrier short of the 1st down mark on 4th & 1 with 1:46 in the 4th Qtr to seal the game, but they all played spectacularly, especially Cook, who although he threw a Pick 6, bounced back on the next MSU possession to keep us within 3 at 17-14 at the half and went on to have a career day passing. Big props also to Kings and Langford on their running game finally wearing out Stanford just enough in the 2nd half to keep some key drives going. Dantonio deserves every bit of the raise he got. Gonna be hard for him to top this season, though. Set the bar extremely high, and even with a huge recruiting class I don’t know if they’ll have what it takes to go to the next level and become national championship contenders next year, but who knows? |

Charlie Strong may be Texas' next head coach? The Big12 is in trouble.

The end of both those Bowl Games Night were insane.

What a fucking National Title game. Holy shit.
Holy fucking fuck
Finally the BCS comes through pretty fitting in it's last season. It still sucks and i'm glad it's gone forever. Congrats Seminoles and all their fans on TPWW.
