I'm ready to lay some big $$$ on the Saints this year. Think they are going to run away with the NFC
crossrine |
Wooooooooooo
|
Best part of Labour Day is Bill Simmons and Cousin Sal doing the NFL lines  Missed this every Monday over the summer.
crossrine |
Yeah listened to both the AFC and NFC BS Reports.
|
I just want the San Francisco 49ers or the Cleveland Browns to win the Superbowl. I don't think that's too much to ask. Fuck em, this is the war.

Sanchez out. Geno Smith in. Welcome to the media circus.
|
I think Geno was announced as the starter a while ago? Wasn't Sanchez injured. Anyway, they're both gonna be awful.
That all being said, I think people give Rex Ryan WAY too much shit. I mean... if you think about it, for as GOD-FUCKING ATROCIOUS as Sanchez has been, Ryan turned this team into a perennial contender for a few years there, with like top-10 defenses and into AFC Championships etc. He hasn't done anything egregiously terrible coaching-wise, like say Andy Reid or Norv Turner. Yet people give Ryan a ton of shit saying he's a bad coach and stuff. I dunno. I think he's arguably been one of the 5 best coaches in the league over the past 5 years. crossrine |
I love Rex Ryan. People just "parrot" what they hear others saying.

Love Rex Ryan. Think he is wonderful.
|
Can't believe it's all back again tomorrow. Can't fucking wait. Love September. No more dull Sunday evenings. Yesssssss.
|
I also loved Rex Ryan from 09-11 but thought he kept chatting some pure manure last year which made me lose a bit of confidence in him. People were out of their minds saying he should have been fired though. Last year was his first losing season out of four, cut him some slack.
|
Part of what I love about Ryan is that he does talk so much nonsense. He totally deflects attention away from the team, which I think is intentional. He makes himself the scapegoat so the players don't have to constantly hear about how shitty they played etc etc

Broncos 33-Ravens 12
I wish Droford were here :( |
Where did he go?
|
The Red Sox start NFL Kickoff week a little bit early by putting up 20 runs against the Detroit Tigers.
|
My office survivor pool allows multiple entries, $20 an entry. Decided to do 2 this year, only had one last year and figured the Saints would surely beat the Chiefs at home to avoid an 0-4 start and, well, we know how that worked out.
Definitely taking the Colts with one of my entries. Dunno about the other one though. Leaning towards New England. Would hate to use the Pats this early especially with the Jets rolling into town next week. But really the goal is to survive as long as possible. Could also take the Texans as I think the Chargers will blow, but the Pats seem like the "safer" pick. Either way I'm not a fan of taking road teams but there aren't any slam dunk home choices. Thought about the Steelers but them and the Titans seem equally mediocre. Not ready to pick the Chiefs on the road, even against Jacksonville, cause I dunno what to make of the Chiefs at this point. |

Super quick predictions for the season:
NFC 1. Falcons 2. Seahawks 3. Packers 4. Cowboys 5. Saints 6. 49ers Falcons and Saints are both absolutely loaded on offense and will score a million points. Defense breaks the tie and I do think the Falcons are better in that regard. Could see both being in the top 3 teams in the conference record wise, though. With all due respect to the 49ers, the Seahawks are hard to bet against since they'll probably win at least 7 home games. NFC East will beat the shit out of each other to the point where the division winner will have the worst playoff team record in the conference again. Hope I'm wrong with Dallas obviously, but they and the Giants both have good offenses so again I have to break the tie with defense. NFC North can be wide open but there's also potential for things to go very wrong. In the end I'll stick with Green Bay as the safest pick although their o-line is horrendous. AFC 1. Broncos 2. Patriots 3. Texans 4. Bengals 5. Ravens 6. Steelers Would be shocked if the top three teams didn't win their respective divisions, basically looked at their schedules and used that to determine the 1-3 seeding. AFC North should be fun. I'll go with the Bengals taking the step up and the Ravens being playoff bound again. A lot of people are pegging the Chiefs for a spot over the Steelers, but I dunno. The Chiefs schedule does seem really easy but there are too many unknowns for my liking. I'll go with the Steelers to find a way to put it together and avoid a rare 2nd straight year without the playoffs. Wild Card -Saints over Cowboys -Packers over 49ers -Steelers over Texans -Bengals over Ravens Division -Saints over Falcons -Seahawks over Packers -Broncos over Steelers -Bengals over Patriots Conference -Seahawks over Saints -Broncos over Bengals Super Bowl 48 -Broncos over Seahawks Dunno. The playoffs are pretty much a crapshoot anyway. MVP: Peyton Manning Coach of the Year: Marvin Lewis Offensive ROY: Eddie Lacy Defensive ROY: Jarvis Jones |
I would cum in my pants so hard if the saints beat the falcons in atl in the playoffs
|
Yeah, just a hunch. Plus I kinda wanted to set it up in a way where Seattle hosts the NFC Title game. So hard to beat at home.
I don't have any particular dislike of the Saints, but I will say I'm a bit more partial to the Falcons if only for Osi. He was an asshole at times but I'll miss him in Giants blue. :( also love Gonzalez. |
Just finished the regular season in my Madden game. If that's anything to go by (its not) the playoffs will be:
NFC 1. Giants 2. 49ers 3. Falcons 4. Vikings 5. Seahawks 6. Eagles AFC 1. Ravens 2. Patriots 3. Colts 4. Chiefs 5. Broncos 6. Bengals Also apparently Vontaze Burfict will win the Defensive ROY despite not being a rookie. Poor Raiders can't even lose properly. Started off 1-1 and then lost 13 straight. 1-14 going into week 17. They won, and the Rams outsucked them going 2-14 and ending on a 7 game losing streak. Raiders screwed themselves out of a chance to draft Willie Duckett out of Auburn, being touted as the next (and evidently white) Cam Newton. |
Don't worry, the IRL Raiders will suck and take Clowney next year and the universe will be in balance.
|
Every time the Bengals are predicted to do well they end up stinking like a butt. Stop it.
|
I may or may not have laid some money down on the Bengals to win the Superbowl this year :$
crossrine |
Bengals better stay away from the play offs this year. Fed up of them wasting a spot every year.
|
Really? A fuckin weather delay
|
Its the weather induced extended countdoooown! Do do do doooo. Do do do do dooooo
|
come on
|
Really miss Droford for this.
|
Stupid roxer being a dick to Droford
RIP |
To whoever asked who Julius Thomas was when I drafted him. That. That's who he is
|
Fuck you, RoXer. I like you though. But fuck you. But I like you though. But fuck you.
|
Put the glove back on, Peyton.
|
Baltimore could have a decent pass rush this year. You could do worse than Dumervil and Suggs
|
Gooooo torey smith
|
Holy shit Thomas is nasty.
|
Pretty amazing TD catch by Caldwell.
|
This game might feature the most white "skill position" players all season

"lol ravens"
|
That was rough. First half was great, at least.
Feel like I should provide some stat about the super bowl champions losing first and still being really good anyway to fill the Droford void. |
Peyton Manning could throw for a shitload of touchdowns this season.
Just an early season observation I've made. |
Maybe Droford is actually a genius and he only planned on staying here as long as Ed Reed and Ray Lewis were Ravens all along. Maybe Roxer only ended up being his "out". Hmm?
|
Going to bed at halftime of every Broncos game now just to keep in line with those stupid commercials and see how long it works.

SPOILER: show |

Can the NFL thread recover and reach standards of MLB thread after the abomination that was the NFL offseason thread?
|
How is the MLB thread so significantly better than the NFL thread, RoXer?

Assman is the worst

Ossman is a wonderful human being with love for all of mankind.

Cannot wait for this Niners game but I do have a bad feeling about it.

Did a few cartwheels this morning after hearing the score on sportscenter. Pretty
much won fantasy this week. Although my opponent got Brady and he's facing the Bills. Hoping EJ Manuel is the real deal and gets the jump early. |
MLB thread is just a bunch of homers rooting for their respective teams. "wooo discussion"
|
That's the entire sports forum
|
According to ESPN, Tim Tebow still refuses to play for any other position besides QB. He recently turned down an offer by a team who was interested in him but for another position.
Also turned down offers from the CFL since either none were for the QB spot or he only wants to play in the NFL. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/96...sitions-report |

Like I said, you can count the teeth and brain cells on one hand. |
You could find a small sample size of similar fans of every sports organization in every American city. 100% guaranteed.
|
Of course you can, but if you applied that sort of rational logic to sports, there'd be no trash talk... and where's the fun in that?
|
I feel like the Ravens are probably having trouble practicing because all there butts hurt from the viciousness of that raping Peyton laid in them.

I heard something interesting yesterday, Brady is at 48 games in a row with a TD pass, the game he could tie Drew Brees' record is week 6 when the Saints visit the Pats.
Unwritten NFL drama is amazing |

Fuck I can't wait for tomorrow.
JPP boarded the flight for Dallas. Only 3 players not on the flight were the guys already ruled out due to injury. Thinking that's a good indication JPP will play but I wouldn't be surprised if he's limited to just coming in on passing downs or something. |
Can't wait to watch the Cardinals win 3 games this year and then draft Teddy Bridgewater. FOOTBALL. FUCK YEAH.
|
RG3 or Russel Wilson
Eli or Shaub |
Fantasy or IRL projection?
Fantasy, week 1 I'd play Eli over Schaub. Giants are "pretty good" @ Dallas lately and Houston will likely have a lead early on. RG3 or Wilson IDK, Probably RG3 just because he has the higher "floor", so to speak. IRL I like Wilson overall for the season. Think RG3 is an injury risk, fair or not, and Wilson is just a better QB right now IMO. Still go with Eli, think Schaub is pretty much the definition of average. crossrine |
Fantasy
Im leaning towards eli and wilson |
Why are there always so many 1:00 games now, ten 1:00 games and two 4:25 games tomorrow
|
So good. I hate when there are like 5 4:00 games, so stupid. I think 3 is good number.
Also there's the 2nd MNF game this week so that's probably one of them gone (I'm assuming the MNF games are awful AFC west matchups because they always are) crossrine |
The season opener on Thursday and the 2nd MNF game usually end up taking from the 4pm spot for Week 1 games.
Another reason is CBS is showing the US Open at around 4pm so no games possible from them at that time. |
Oh yeah plus the Thursday one, doi. I absolutely fucking detest that they are doing a Thursday night game every week this season. Fucking worst fucking garbage games every year. Hate you sometimes, NFL. Just let us have our Sundays, and MNF is okay.
crossrine |
Quote:
Wish they would split the games up... 4PM NFL Red Zone is pretty shitty cause it is always like 2-3 games |

I remember a couple times within the past... I dunno, 2-3 years, where the 1:00 lineup would be like: BUF @ CLE JAX @ TEN WAS @ PHI (pre-RGIII, keep in mind) OAK @ CIN CHI @ MIN GB @ TB Something like that. And then 4:00 would have like NO @ ATL for no reason at all crossrine |
Quote:
|
LOL @ rdd
:foc: @ nbt |
They never shift games to 4:00 though it seems like, seems like it's the other way around, like they try to have as few 4:00 games as possible, so annoying
