SammyG 01-14-2014 02:54 PM

Are you getting WWE Network?

Why or why not? For me, it is a no brainer, and I'm not even that huge of a wrestling fan anymore, although I will tune into Raw and PPVs sometimes. Just that ridiculous library of old school WCW/ECW pay per views and every current PPV live in HD on it, it just makes no sense to me to not get it, especially at only $9.99 a month. Monday Night Wars is another one I'm pretty stoked about.

Innovator 01-14-2014 02:56 PM

I usually order Wrestlemania and a couple other PPVs, so the Network will save me money.

voncouch 01-14-2014 02:59 PM

My only complaint is that they're not streaming Raw/Smackdown. I would gladly pay another $5 a month for that. Honestly, I'm still very hyped for this.

SammyG 01-14-2014 03:01 PM

Yeah, I mean, if you order Wrestlemania alone, isn't that about 6 months of what it'll cost you to have WWE Network anyway?

SammyG 01-14-2014 03:02 PM

Well, wouldn't that completely fuck up their relations with the USA network and Syfy? I'm sure DIRECTV and other satellite companies are not happy with them showing the PPVs on the Network, either

Exactly. 9.99 a month for 6 months of streaming WWE content vs. 64.95 for a 4 hour show.

Lock Jaw 01-14-2014 03:11 PM

I will get it when it becomes available to PARTS UNKNOWN

Schlomey 01-14-2014 03:27 PM

Taking advantage of the free week before I say it is permanent thing for me.

Schlomey 01-14-2014 03:36 PM

just like a jew right?

Ruien 01-14-2014 03:41 PM

There is a free week? When o.O

I am on the fence. I will probably get it because the 6 months will fall into WM season but get rid of it after that.

Vastardikai 01-14-2014 03:41 PM

I think Frye sums up my opinion here...

Corndad 01-14-2014 03:47 PM

Even if your like me and only usually buy 2 or 3 PPVs a year (Mania, Rumble, Maybe SummerSlam) it is going to save you money in long run. I just hope they have the servers ready and the whole thing doesn't shut down for Mania. With that being the first PPV everyone watches on there it's gonna be a test of the Streaming ability. I think gonna give it a shot. Having All the PPVs from the past too really sold me on it.

XL 01-14-2014 05:33 PM

Depends on a few things when it launches over here.

Will it be £9.99 or the equivalent to its price in dollars? Or will it cost more?
Will it have full functionality/library? Netflix over here is nowhere near as comprehensive, for example.

Currently I watch everything online for free (or stolen, if you prefer) but I've not really been keeping up with SmackDown, so would I be getting my money's worth? The cost would be worth it just to avoid all the viruses that come with streaming sites, I suppose.

Theo Dious 01-14-2014 05:38 PM

I'm buying it, mostly because I'm sick of unreliable streams.

Poit 01-14-2014 07:31 PM

I'm definitely subscribing. I watch every PPV, so it's a huge savings.

Emperor Smeat 01-14-2014 08:35 PM

Yes but not right away and probably after that first 6 month phase or Mania month.

weather vane 01-14-2014 08:53 PM

When does it come to Canada?

Cool King 01-14-2014 09:35 PM

I'll be getting the network even though it won't be available here until late 2014/early 2015, but it's worth the wait.

parkmania 01-14-2014 09:42 PM

Anyone with an internet connection that orders WrestleMania and is in a country that gets the Network absolutely should get this, as it's a savings, plus EVERYTHING ELSE!

DirecTV is actually considering severing ties with WWE over this.

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...#axzz2qQt5AFkF

Savio 01-14-2014 10:10 PM

I heard only this Mania was going to be offered on the network and the next one wold not.

This must be costing them money in the short run, I expect them to creep the price up a little bit each year.

James Steele 01-14-2014 10:13 PM

DirecTV will lose in the end. This is where "TV" and entertainment is going.

James Steele 01-14-2014 10:16 PM

Hell, I'd pay $15 or $20 a month. I'd cancel Hulu to offset the cost for this.

I can see them eventually going to a tiered system where hardcore fans will pay more, but basically have access to the entire WWE library 24/7. Between Netflix and this, the only thing I'd miss is an outlet for football games.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-14-2014 10:28 PM

No reason not to get it.

James Steele 01-14-2014 10:38 PM

My thinking on Hulu, Netflix, etc. is that even if I only actually watch it on weekends but "binge" watch on those weekend afternoons - it's more than worth the $10. Being the huge wrestling nerd I am, I don't see how I can't get this. It is all the wrestling you want and when you want it. For people who pirate, now you just can login and watch it whenever you want without worrying about torrents or good uploads or whatever and it's legal for the weekly shows, old shows, ppvs, etc. It they put all the DVD docs on there - it is even better.

Poit 01-14-2014 10:39 PM

Yeah, I don't see a win condition for DirecTV if they stop carrying PPVs. WWE isn't going to abandon the Network, so all they're doing is taking a loss to spite WWE.

James Steele 01-14-2014 10:50 PM

I've watched every episode of Friday Night Lights, The Wonder Years, The Shield, Courage the Cowardly Dog, other TV shows and a shit-ton of documentaries, movies, and other shows. If I had to purchase those on DVD or pay to watch other ways - it'd be thousands of dollars. It is impossible for someone to have Netflix and Hulu not be the most cost efficient form of entertainment. WWE is making a wise decision to go this direction. I live in a very tiny town, and I've had some older people (40s and 50s) ask me about Hulu, Netflix, etc. because they want to get rid of their cable or satellite due to rising costs for the packages that have all the sports or all the channels they want. If the NFL and NCAA or smart, they will go in the same direction and offer live streaming of all games. Live sports is the only bargaining chip traditional networks have, and if WWE's network is successful - you can see the dollar signs exploding in the eyes of sports league executives.

Passionate Fanbase + 24/7 Availability & Live Streaming of events + Reasonable monthly fee w/ long term committment = Easy $$$

Vince really is a genius.

Curd 01-15-2014 12:24 AM

I read the reports on TPWW and that's it, so no Network for me.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-15-2014 12:26 AM

How could you say no to the WWE network? Every news report is awesome on it.

FourFifty 01-15-2014 04:01 AM

I would have liked to see a little more variety in the answers. How many people are going to sign up for 6 months just for WrestleMania? How many people would say yes if they had a way to see it on TV without an HDMI cable? How many people still aren't sure?
There are variances in this answer.

XL 01-15-2014 04:15 AM

I already view my PC on my tv via HDMI so it would be no different.

Rammsteinmad 01-15-2014 06:42 AM

Nah. I'd love to, to check out all the old stuff, but I don't really have the time, or money. I watch all the programming on stream sites anyway, and I watch the PPV's in a local sports bar who only charge a fiver but refundable on drinks, so in the long run, I'm not spending anything anyway.

Brigstocke 01-15-2014 07:33 AM

I can see why it's worthwhile because well....reduced cost PPV's

But seriously do people not realise you can watch any episode of Raw, Smackdown Afterburn, Heat, Velocity, Every PPV in history, Plus all the ECW and WCW stuff online somewhere already for absolutely nothing?

TORRENT + DVD BURNER = BETTER VALUE

Bobo 01-15-2014 01:15 PM

No because it won't be released to UK customers for some time yet. And even then ..... Well I wait and see how well it's received.

Unless the event you want to see doesn't have anyone seeding. Which would probably be the case for a lot of stuff.

Outside of the past year's shows, most of what is seeded has so few seeders that it takes forever for the torrent to download.

I'll take WWE Network over that.

HunterSK 01-15-2014 03:34 PM

I hope the 9.99 price isn't so long as you agree to a 3 year term, or any fixed amount of time....

I think theyd gotta cause people would sign up for march and then cancel (The price of WM or that months PPV would have to be charged ya think)

HunterSK 01-15-2014 03:35 PM

PS: is the term PPV owned by any broadcasting corperation ?

Poit 01-15-2014 03:59 PM

The $9.99 price is with a 6 month subscription.

el bobbo 01-16-2014 12:15 AM

Think of all of the young fans this will make. Guys aged 25-35 with kids, reliving the classic matches of yesteryear.

Instead of watching shitty fucking reality shows, some dads are going to have their kids watch classic wrestling matches.

If the NFL and MLB catch up to this, then they will have their kids watch classic football games and classic World Series matches.

This WWE Network thing is a win win for everyone.

Cuse8 01-16-2014 03:04 PM

having kids has thrown a wrench into being able to see raw as much as i would like

however being able to see all the ppv's live is well worth is for me. and any free time i can find ill catch some of the old stuff. this is an absolute no brainer purchase for me.

Fignuts 01-16-2014 06:08 PM

Apparently there is a culture behind collecting wrestling DVD's and they're all pissed off because the WWE Network will devalue a lot of stuff.

One guy said it "ruins the art and science of collecting dvd's"

lol

JimmyMess 01-17-2014 01:40 AM

I'm torn because I only watch the Rumble and WM consistently... occasional other ppv's.... the content is pretty intense... but I'm still on the fence

dronepool 01-17-2014 02:12 AM

I probably spend as much on weed in a few weeks as I would for 1 year of this thing, so yeah it's not hurting me, I never buy the PPVs and now I get them in nice quality for pretty much some a Chinese food meal money.

Disturbed316 01-17-2014 03:44 AM

I will once it's available in my region, sucks it's not going to be until 2015.

WM 54 + Royal Rumble 45= 100 bucks.

WWE Network 12 months will be 120.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-17-2014 04:11 AM

I think its also time to discontinue the stream group as it will not be necessary after Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber.

Corporate CockSnogger 01-17-2014 06:15 AM

Why would it not be necessary? It's useful for people like me who have no intention of getting the network thing but might want to casually watch the royal rumble or something.

I mean, I always found it easy enough to find streams anyway, but maybe others don't know where to look.

Plus you know, the rest of the world outside of America don't get the network til next year.

Think before you post, dumbest poster 2k13

Ok keep it until WWE Network is for everybody. People with no intention to pay just 10 bucks a month for PPVs don't deserve help ripping wwe off anymore. It's not like its 50 bucks a month anymore.

Seth82 01-17-2014 06:05 PM

As a fan of territory wrestling this is disheartening

http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/...twork-content/

- When the WWE Network launches, only about 1.5% of WWE's total video library will be accessible. It's said that very little of the content will be old territorial footage. While WWE will add new content weekly, they will also remove content from time to time.

The quality will be better because they have the actual original source to derive it from. Everybody else is based off a VHS rip or some other secondary source.

Streaming illegally had more steam when WWE wasn't offering anything like this. Now that they are there is no leg to stand on for illegal streamers.

USA will not be effected as Raw will not be shown live on the WWE Network only replays. Since USA doesn't even offer replays of Raw it's not taking away any market they are a part of.

screech 01-18-2014 06:16 PM

Do they still do that AM RAW show? Or was that on a different network?

Haven't had legit cable in a while.

Tazz Dan 01-18-2014 06:22 PM

I'll be getting it when it hits here. I imagine we'll probably pay $19.99 a month or something, but it's still cheaper than PPV's which are $30 each.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-19-2014 04:42 PM

Have we heard from everybody who said nah. I'd like to know why they'd say nah. :(

Corporate CockSnogger 01-19-2014 04:55 PM

I voted nah because I have no intention of paying for wrestling. Don't really watch anymore anyway but might want to "casually" watch the royal rumble or wrestlemania or something. If I do, I'll stick to a stream.

Ruien 01-19-2014 07:12 PM

Don't care that much about wrestling to send money their way. Watch Raw once a month and maybe 2 ppv a a year. Will just stick to a stream.

Razzamajazz 01-19-2014 08:44 PM

i have the wwe on demand which i check out every few weeks. so i'll probably get the first 6 months of this at least

I don't believe anyone said they do not care. Some of us just don't care enough to spend money on the product. For example, I watch Law and Order, SVU, daily but if it would start costing me money to watch the product, no matter how small, I would not pay for it.

I care about boxing but will not order a ppv. I care about the Chicago Bears but I will not pay to go to a game.

Nicky Fives 01-21-2014 01:27 PM

once it comes out in Canada, I will heavily consider it unless the Canadian version sucks balls a la Netflix.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-07-2014 05:00 AM

9.99 a month for 6 months billed monthly.
