That means, of the 5 largest men, weight-wise, to ever step into a WWE/F ring, only Big Show remains.

Sad but not shocking. RIP Big Guy. Viscera was a cool character.

Mideon will avenge Viscera's death at Extreme Rules!

Reportedly, HHH has offered to fill Viscera's grave since he's used to burying people.

According to his wiki page he had just celebrated turning 42. Either way, yes, that does seem extremely young from a human perspective but I personally believe we all have our appointed, unknown times when our number will be called, this was just his time I guess.

Very sad. RIP Big Vis. :'(

I was actually pleasantly surprised to find myself at least mildly entertained by his antics with Lilian Garcia. Granted, I didn't find it hilarious, but it brought a smile and occasional laugh to my face and mouth. He seemed like he was genuinely a real nice guy IRL, which is OBVI why so many fans will miss him.

Brigstocke 02-19-2014 04:44 AM

I only came in here to make a snide comment about HHH being on hand for the burial but Gertner seems to have that angle covered..

I remember liking the Big Daddy V character a lot and thought it had some potential. He had a nice run in ECW and got drafted over to Smackdown and I thought he'd have some cool feuds, but he was basically fed to Undertaker and got released which was a shame, as the character was very unique. Loved the big superheavyweights.

My favorite Viscera moment was when he rassled Big Show on Raw back in April 1999. One of the best technical matches ever. Almost as good as Savage/Steamboat

My Final Heaven 02-19-2014 07:03 AM

Sad news, he always got a reaction from the crowd no matter what he was doing :( Vis was involved in some memorable stuff during his run. He may have been the only guy Diesel coudn't use the Jackknife finish on in his career (and he fucking powerbombed The Giant ), , and it sticks out in my memory when he came back from a break of a couple years to challenge Ken Shamrock for winning KOTR.

Enjoy it, big guy, you've earned it.

He does look a lot better in this video and I was going to be heading out to Tennessee to work a show with him and Mo headlining it a couple of months from now. Looks like if it still happens, it's gonna be a Memorial Show :'(

Bad News Gertner 02-19-2014 07:05 PM

He wasn't the greatest in the ring, but what I liked about him was every time he hit a big move it just looked devastating like a samoan drop, bossman slam or Viscera Driver. He was great for putting over new powerful babyfaces or heels, like when Cena did the AA on him. There was definitely a role in the WWE, almost like a gatekeeper role: if he won it wouldn't come off as a fluke because of his size, but a win over Viscera looks impressive especially if a power move was used against him.
Plus he seemed like a really good guy from all reports. Too bad.

Corndad 02-19-2014 08:08 PM

I met him last year in March. And was shocked at how much weight he had lost. He was in the main event which was a 6 man tag. I figured he would be tagged in hit 2 moves and get the pin. Nope he worked almost 20 minutes, then tagged in the rookie of the team and let him get the pin. After the show they did a meet and greet. He was signing for free. I mentioned watching him in Memphis and he said "You are making feel old brother." I told him I doubted he was much older than me. And he was surprised that he only was 2 years older than me. Ended up talking to him for close to 20 minutes. Found out later on he worked the show for half of his normal booking fee, mostly because he is friends with the owners.

Also when I met Vis,my buddy Blake had come with me. Now Blake is 22 but mentally challenged. He has the mind of a 13 year old. And is a huge wrestling fan. For a month all he could talk about was getting to meet Big Daddy V. He was wondering what to bring to get autographed. I looked on Wiki and found that Vis had held the WWE hardcore title. Blake owns all the kids toy replica belts. So after the show we went into the meet and greet. I had planned ahead and brought a gold sharpie with me. Blake handed Vis the belt. "Mr Big Daddy V could you sign my belt?" Vis signed it for free. Then talked to Blake for awhile. Then I got a picture of the two of them doing the V hand sign. Blake now has that belt hanging on his wall. Just more proof to me that Vis really cared about the fans.

He was super nice. Out of all the former WWF/WWE stars I have met,Vis and Matt Hardy are the nicest. They are also the two that weren't charging way too much for autographs and pictures. Vis was signing for free and it was $5 for a picture.Matt was $5 for an autograph and $5 for a picture. When I met Matt my buddy Collin was with me. He brought a bag of grapes for Matt. He went up to get his picture with Matt. Told him he had a prop. When he pulled the grapes out of his backpak Matt started laughing. Then Matt got me to take 3 pictures. And afterwards told us to make sure to tweet the pictures to him. At the same show I noticed how bad the skin on Reby Sky's face is. It looked like she had bad acne as a teen. And was trying to cover the resulting scars with heavy makeup. At least her ass was nice.
