finishing ww3 1996, what a shitshow this was

Seth82 02-24-2014 04:53 PM

I'm watching Starrcade '86: Night of the Skywalkers

I've honestly never seen the entire broadcast before, just the one hour home video version.

I can't believe how good it looks for being 28 years old. WWE really does a great job in taking care of the old footage and preserving it.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-24-2014 05:39 PM

Watched a bit of Starrcade 97, One Night Stand 05 and watching the "live" WrestleMania 1 right now.

Anybody Thrilla 02-24-2014 05:57 PM

I'm watching Doink the Clown v. Koko B. Ware from a Raw in 1993. All of that content, and this is where I am.

NormanSmiley 02-24-2014 06:01 PM

do you think it ever bothers Vince that the lowest days of WWE ratings wise was when he became the play by play man? think it crushes his ego that gorilla and brain and jesse were adored then he stunk up the joint , then he turns It over to JR and boom biggest boom in business history?

Anybody Thrilla 02-24-2014 06:11 PM

Money in the Bank 2011. Yes.

Anybody Thrilla 02-24-2014 06:14 PM

This whole show was just so good.

Dark One 02-24-2014 06:59 PM

I started with King of the Ring 2000.

I realized I made a terrible mistake as soon as I saw the "epic" video package for the Brisco / Patterson Evening Gown match.

Thank God for Crash Holly and Hardcore 24/7.

Kingofdaswing 02-24-2014 07:15 PM

I'm watching nothing, because apparently, Canada is a third world country.

Droford 02-24-2014 07:23 PM

Raw PR show in 6 minutes

el bobbo 02-24-2014 07:28 PM

I just watched the end of Wrestlemania I. Those chicks were all over Liberace, man...

dronepool 02-24-2014 07:31 PM

FourFifty 02-24-2014 07:31 PM

Droford 02-24-2014 07:33 PM

I'm watching it

FourFifty 02-24-2014 07:35 PM

Maybe Vince just hates Jews.

Fenix122 02-24-2014 07:36 PM

Damien Sandown relegated from money in the bank winner to wrestling on superstars

Droford 02-24-2014 07:37 PM

Superstars -- Kofi wrestles Sandow

Droford 02-24-2014 07:38 PM

This makes zero sense..let's show the match were taping for Thursday

teamXtremist 02-24-2014 07:49 PM

Survivor series 1988

Seth82 02-24-2014 09:03 PM

watching ECW Guilty As Charged 2001 right now.

the dubbed music in place of RATM's Renegades of Funk in the opening video is pretty good.

they actually use an actual song that they likely got for cheaper than RATM's and not some crappy production theme.

Shisen Kopf 02-24-2014 09:24 PM

Halloween Havoc 92...really good

Corndad 02-24-2014 10:42 PM

Just watched 1998 World War 3 on commercial break from Raw. lol

Seth82 02-25-2014 12:21 AM

I'm watching Starrcade '84: The Million Dollar Challenge

for being as old as it is, it looks fantastic! I am still blown away at the picture quality on all these old classic shows that WWE preserved.

Ha! Earl Hebner is a referee here and he had hair back then.

KaosDarksol 02-25-2014 12:24 AM

Vengeance 2007... Yeah that ppv...

KaosDarksol 02-25-2014 12:48 AM

just watched vince's limo blow up

Droford 02-25-2014 01:36 AM

Mayhem 99 is TV PG w/ suggestive dialog and Benoit wrestled twice and almost won the title, so thinking they haven't figured the rating thing out

Droford 02-25-2014 02:16 AM

I totally forgot WCW was bringing back Glacier at the end of 2000..

it doesn't even air on TV in America. So nothing is lost.

Seth82 02-25-2014 02:54 AM

Ha! Vladimir the Super Fan is shown in the intro for WWE Old School.

Whatever happened to ol' Vladimir?

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-25-2014 03:10 AM

They cut him after the Santino/Kozlov team got boring. He got his leg broken and released on the same day.

Fignuts 02-25-2014 03:13 AM

Watching the first Survivor Series.

Hercules was awful.

Fignuts 02-25-2014 03:14 AM

But Gorilla/ventura commentary is awesome.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-25-2014 03:17 AM

They need to have some sort of chat and it'll be perfect.

Juan 02-25-2014 03:23 AM

If I could be serious for a moment...

I don't think WWE would have even considered this network if not for streamers on justin.tv and wherever else.

So thanks Juan (and everybody else who streamed on JTV) for streaming as long as you did and putting up with getting banned and computer resources it took to stream.

Fignuts 02-25-2014 03:48 AM

Even at the first survivor series, Moolah looks ancient.

Seth82 02-25-2014 03:59 AM

watching WCCW TV from 1982.

Kabuki was so freaking awesome for his time in 1982.

Yeah, watched that Kabuki match. Dude was money.

Also holy shit 20 man survivor series match.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-25-2014 04:11 AM

Yeah they do that in the first two Survivor Series.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-25-2014 04:12 AM

About to watch the first ever episode of Smackdown.

You're welcome ;)

Seth82 02-25-2014 04:22 AM

haha Flair was so awesome and cocky talking to Kerry Von Erich.

Still have to wonder how the hell Bugsy McGraw ever got booked anywhere. He does nothing to entertain me and is boring. He's this grown up manchild who is fat and hairy.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-25-2014 04:31 AM

Ah crap its the first episode of the Smackdown run and not the special pilot episode :(

Probably a holdover from the era where TV wasn't widespread and image wasn't everything.

Sort of like how Pitbull Pitman didn't fit in WCW after Nitro started up.

Fignuts 02-25-2014 04:33 AM

lol yeah, lotta beer guts in the territories.

Skippord 02-25-2014 09:03 AM

Watching World War 3 from 1995 and it is ridiculous

Hulk Hogan just said he wants to be Sting's friend forever and then Marc Mero was talking about following your dreams

Skippord 02-25-2014 09:09 AM

also I forgot how many matches in WCW ended with punches in the face with chains on people's hands

Skippord 02-25-2014 09:10 AM

Gonna log on to compuserve to chat about this

voncouch 02-25-2014 09:33 AM

Last night I was watching Tuesday Night In Texas. Jake Roberts vs Randy Savage is one of my favorite feuds of all time, awesome to relive the slap to Elizabeth.

voncouch 02-25-2014 10:15 AM

I logged on today and the first thing I see is the Repo Man stealing Macho's hat. I'm in heaven.

Schlomey 02-25-2014 11:02 AM

I haven't checked to see for myself but what about the Benoit tribute RAW...has it been posted? Do you think it will?

Currently watching the stream of Flair vs Perfect - Loser Leaves Town Match from RAW.

NormanSmiley 02-25-2014 02:20 PM

starting SS 98 this morning.

laughing at what a great heel Vince was, introducing Duane Gill.

God damn do I still hate Xpac and Jarrett with a passion

BigCrippyZ 02-25-2014 02:29 PM

Haven't been able to enjoy any of the video on demand content on my PS3 yet. It usually either gives an error or loads only the rating/warning. The few times it has worked, it's been an unwatchable repeat of a few seconds of video followed by 1+ minute of frozen lag time.

Anybody Thrilla 02-25-2014 07:45 PM

Jericho has a Y2J theme at Halloween Havoc 98. I understand why, but it just looks funny.

Malfeitor 02-25-2014 08:41 PM

Just watched Cesaro vs Sami Zayn on NXT. So fucking rad.

Droford 02-26-2014 12:02 AM

Wcw fall brawl 2000's opening used wcw action figures to recreate the buildup..I guess they were broke

Seth82 02-26-2014 12:29 AM

I'm watching the clusterfuck that was WCW Great American Bash 2000.

This features the infamous Goldberg heel turn.

Droford 02-26-2014 12:32 AM

Watching Greed, somebody explain why Jason Jett aka Ez Money couldn't get a job in WWE..I remembered him from ECW, totally forgot he was in WCW for their last month.

Don't think it's on there and don't think it will be. Personally I would love the Eddie memorial shows. What the network needs is chapters if I want to watch a single match from a ppv I should be able to go straight to it

WWE picked him up after they bought WCW. He was sent down to HWA Developmental to train. They ended up releasing him in July 2002.

He ended up retiring from active competition around 2003. He now makes tights and boots for other wrestlers. He once in awhile does put on the tights and wrestle.

Fignuts 02-26-2014 02:02 AM

Whatta ya buyin?

Vastardikai 02-26-2014 02:02 AM

Watching Halloween Havoc '91. Despite all the camp, the greatest thing ever:

Bobby Eaton (carrying a pumpkin): "I'm going to celebrate, I just won a match"

Van Hammer is fucking horrible.

It bugged me they didn't do anything with him outside of shuffling him off to developmental, that's my point. I know 2001/2 was a different time but I think he could have been used..

Also anytime anyone berates Van Hammer I have to mention he ran a wrestling school near me for a while. Of all the people to run one...

Fignuts 02-26-2014 03:20 AM

Watching Royal Rumble 2000

Fignuts 02-26-2014 03:36 AM

My god, the things I would do to 2000 Terri Runnels.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-26-2014 05:00 AM

Watching WrestleMania 29. When Chris Christie could have been President.

Frank Drebin 02-26-2014 05:12 AM

First thing watched was Halloween Havoc 1998 (?). The one where Goldberg vs. DDP got cut off. Opening match is Raven vs. Jericho.

Next on the list is probably SummerSlam (92?), "Match made in heaven and a match made in hell" First ppv I ever watched.

Corndad 02-26-2014 01:32 PM

Survivor Series 1990. Man I wished they would go all teams again and have a Sole Survior Match at the end with all the winners. That was the tits.

Droford 02-26-2014 01:41 PM

Survivor Series 2012 -- The shield just attacked Ryback!

Skippord 02-26-2014 02:32 PM

watching Bash at the Beach 1996 and John Tenta is wrestling the Big Bossman in a sock full of silver dollars on a pole match and the pole is way too tall

oh WCW

Skippord 02-26-2014 02:37 PM

so far in this match there has been a low blow, a belt whipping/beating and taping John Tenta's arm to the ropes

#NODQ apparently

Skippord 02-26-2014 02:38 PM

also instead of a sock it looks way more like a condom filled with silver dollars

Fenix122 02-26-2014 02:52 PM

Starrcade 86...and right now Zeb Colter is tagging with bobby jaggers(RIP)

I liked Dutch Mantell. He was a good brawler imo.

He was awesome in the old Memphis territory as both face and heel. He pretty much homesteaded for most of his career in Memphis.

This was a good segment with him and Jerry Lawler from 1982.

Watching the road warriors/midnight express scaffold match....that thing looks incredibly unsafe.

Corndad 02-26-2014 04:38 PM

War Games 95. How terrible was the Dungeon of Doom lol

NormanSmiley 02-26-2014 05:55 PM

Were the Steiner bros sloppy? Watching the old raw against two jobbers and can't tell if the guys weren't athletic enough to take the suplexes well or if the steiners mailed it in or didn'tcare ? This is when Scott was when Scott was still mobile but did they have a history of being sloppy in the ring?

Heisenberg 02-26-2014 05:59 PM

They weren't sloppy to me as a kid, they were very stacked and had that collegiate wrestling look that made you look forward to their technical moves and all.

I loved the Beverly Brothers round that time too. I don't know what happened to them.

Fox 02-26-2014 06:10 PM

I'm not going to be home until May or June, but I plan on subscribing to WWE Network on my PS3 within the first hour of my arrival.

Is anyone using the WWE Network on their PS3? If so, how is it working? I assume any bugs will be mostly fixed by June.

Also, how is the interface? Is it like Netflix or something completely different? As a lover of old PPV's, I'm dying to get my hands on this thing.

Also makes me feel like a fool for having stacks and stacks of old WCW/WWF/ECW PPVs on VHS in my closet and refusing to get rid of them for years.

Fenix122 02-26-2014 06:29 PM

Watching Wrestlewar '91.....had no idea there was a WCW six man tag team championship.

dronepool 02-26-2014 08:49 PM

No Mercy 2007.

Wow its finally working...

Seth82 02-26-2014 09:55 PM

I can't wait for this to happen!

Watching Barely Legal.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-27-2014 01:25 AM

Just finished with a live playing of Royal Rumble 2013.

Skippord 02-27-2014 01:59 AM

watching Hog Wild 1996

could use more lovely shots of South Dakota and less retardedly loud motorcycles, and more Tony Schiavone in a denim vest and leather daddy hat

Skippord 02-27-2014 02:00 AM

Ultimo Dragon is Ultimate Dragon? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?

Skippord 02-27-2014 02:01 AM

also Schiavone totally forgets the name of the company at the beginning of the show and it is the best

Fignuts 02-27-2014 02:02 AM

Still watching Rumble 2000. Roomate using netflix last night made it unwatchable. Fucking shitty internet.
