NFL Week 16 thread

Had to make this a day early......since the Patriots are playing tonight

Hopefully a 11 in a row

Best Defense in the NFL

MoRcHeEbA 12-20-2003 04:50 PM

the falcons are killing the bucs.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 12-20-2003 06:23 PM

Falcons ended up winning by 2 points

Brad Johnson had 4 INTs in the FIRST HALF......that's horrible

BCWWF 12-20-2003 06:31 PM

WHOO! This biggest game of the year....if the Vikings werent 2-6 in the last 8...meh.

How about Moss? Hell yeah ! He's got his hair out, his first catch today should have been like an 8 yard gain but he went like 10 extra for the first down. Then the TD. CBS picked KC to win 3-1, Sports Illustrated chose the Vikes because of KC clinching last week. Anyway, scoreboard bioootch.

Kris P Lettus 12-20-2003 06:40 PM

Bucs are out of the playoffs...

Now I just need Greenbay to lose...

*prays for a one-peat*

Who Dat??

BCWWF 12-20-2003 07:16 PM

What the Buc's are out of the playoffs?? NO!!! When did that happen? I thought for sure they were going all the way again!

Jesus Shuttlesworth 12-20-2003 08:02 PM

LOL @ the Cheifs

PATS = #1 IN THE AFC SUCKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Yashamaga 12-20-2003 08:05 PM

whoooo homefield

Crimson 12-20-2003 08:32 PM

**** the Patriots. Unfortunatley, they remind me of the 2001 Pats.

The Broncos/Colts game should be good.

road doggy dogg 12-20-2003 09:04 PM

Holy shit Priest

If the Chiefs pull this off that will be NUTS

road doggy dogg 12-20-2003 09:09 PM

Lol nevermind that... Onterrio's having a damn fine game

Vikings now up by 18. Don't think the Chiefs can pull back now :o

MoRcHeEbA 12-20-2003 09:12 PM

yeah untill that last minnesota drive I thought the chiefs were gonna give it a fighting chance. Then they gave that TD down, and that hit that the Vikes just layed on the returner was hard.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 12-21-2003 03:18 AM

HOW BOUT THEM PATRIOTS

Smith rushes for over 100 yards.....I know Jets defense is a joke vs the run but hopefully this can give him some confidence

Patriots + running attack = SCARY

LoDownM 12-21-2003 03:58 AM

People who like the Vikings should die

Bad Guy 12-21-2003 05:26 AM

Predictions now

Lions have already tied record for most consecutive road losses. Will they break it the record or will the curse be ended?

Bad Guy 12-21-2003 05:26 AM

Personally, they're screwed.

Man I know it's just dreaming but it would be awesome if Pinner just exploded today and ran for 150 and like 2 TDs. He looked really good last week when he saw limited time, so I dunno. He definitely looks like he could be their main back next season. I just hope the Lions don't lose like 30 road games in a row or something  :( Oh well, at least they're not the only team winless on the road this season

Maybe they'll pick up a RB in the draft

You never know, I don't think the draft is very good this year but look what Ontario Smith is doing now...I didn't think he was going to be all that succesful in the NFL but he is tearing shit up right now.

I don't understand why they are so bad, I mean they got the young connect of Harrington to Rogers and they have a few decent guys on defense (the end..can't remember his name..and Dre Bly)

road doggy dogg 12-21-2003 01:09 PM

Yeah, they took this Pinner guy in the 4th round this year, so I think that was a good pick for them. They still have him and Bryson, so I think they'll just stick with them.

To be fair, Rogers has been injured most of the season, so he hasn't really had a chance to do anything. And even though it's lame to use injuries as an exucse, the Lions have had a ton... their secondary is so banged up it's pathetic

Their defense isn't really that bad though. They're actually pretty good against the run, and their secondary isn't as bad as everyone says. It's just that since they're on the field like 40 minutes a game, they get tired. It's more the offense's fault really, since they don't put together a lot of long drives :o

road doggy dogg 12-21-2003 01:14 PM

Anyways though, I think the Lions have a decent chance this week. Carolina's not really THAT good, they have a good D but their offense isn't really that great. They're mainly a running team, and Detroit isn't all that bad against the run. I think Carolina will still probably win, but it won't be a blow-out

Supreme Olajuwon 12-21-2003 01:14 PM

hopefully Bruce wont play today

Bengals need all the help they can get

Crimson 12-21-2003 01:24 PM

Isn't Warrick out too? I hope Cincy makes the playoffs, rather them than the Ravens.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-21-2003 01:28 PM

yup but thats ok because Kelley Washington is the man

road doggy dogg 12-21-2003 01:33 PM

Bruce isn't playing

road doggy dogg 12-21-2003 01:59 PM

WAHT

Stephen Davis isn't playing today

Lions' chances just got better

Colts

Yeah, no playoffs for me.

Please Colts, please beat the Broncos. I need Buffalo to lose to both the Colts AND the Packers. Then if the Dolphins beat the Jets next week...PLAYOFFS!!!

The first game that I ever root FOR the 49ers and they pull off a HUGE upset! Dallas can still win the East with a win @ NO and a Philly loss @ Washington!!! Thanks San Fran (P.S. I still hate you)

Maybe you should root for them next week too, Packers fans might need the 49ers to beat the Seahawks.

BCWWF 12-22-2003 04:14 PM

I just saw that extra point

#1-norm-fan 12-22-2003 07:09 PM

As much as I love the Packers they aren't worth the sickness I felt while rooting for San Fran. However, since Seattle can't win on the road and San Fran seems to be really good at home, I wouldn't worry too much.

And after all the laughing I did at him yesterday, I feel kinda bad for John Carney. He is the most hated man in New Orleans right now.

#1-norm-fan 12-22-2003 07:14 PM

Apparently Favre will be playing tonight. Good for him. :y:

MoRcHeEbA 12-22-2003 07:16 PM

how is that good for him? he's not gonna play to his potential when he has something like his fathers death on his mind. If I was the coach of the packers I wouldn't let him play. he's probably gonna end up getting pulled eventually anyway. I would be at home with Family if I Was him.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 12-22-2003 07:21 PM

You can't say that for sure Cheebs...maybe he'll play inspired or something

Or maybe his father would have wanted him to play..you don't the guy personally so you really have no idea.

road doggy dogg 12-22-2003 07:28 PM

Well I mean, the only real downside to Favre not playing is the whole "consecutive games" thing. Other than that, there's no real reason he should be playing, and even then that's a pretty weak reason.

If I were in his position, I doubt I'd be playing the day after my dad died... :-\ Man that sucks, I hope he's all right

MoRcHeEbA 12-22-2003 07:28 PM

well no one knows that :p so no one can say but himself how he's gonna play. I'm just saying that not alot of people have the game of there life the day after one of there parent's died.

Boomer 12-22-2003 07:28 PM

Coming from a coach's perspective (not counting in the whole death, that is obviously a painful thing for Favre and his teammates) I would not want to:

1.Put in a backup that hasn't taken an in season snap in a LONG time
2.Break the consecutive game streak. I mean it shows balls to want to play the game you love with your father dead. This game does have playoff implications, and Favre is obviously the heart of this team. After the game I'm sure he will spend some very good time with his family. They will be rooting for him at home.
3.Put all the pressure on Green. Yes he's great. Really great. I just don't see relying on one person working out really well. Jamal Lewis can pull it off yes, but it isn't a guaranteed way to win.

road doggy dogg 12-22-2003 07:44 PM

Yeah, it would really suck for them to start the back-up. 'Cause like, this happened on Sunday night, so there was NO way they could be prepared for it. If say, it happened on like Wednesday, at least they could have their back-up practise the rest of the week with the team, rather than just go in off the get-go.

I guess it is a blessing in disguise that they're playing the Raiders, so hell they could put anyone at the QB position and just have Ahman get like 300 yards and they'll be fine.

Kris P Lettus 12-22-2003 08:24 PM

Shi</>tty quality but funny none the less...

Drunken Namath

The Outlaw 12-22-2003 08:40 PM

Well, I remember a high school kid played the day after his grandad died? Father type to him, so he dedicated the game to him and went out and scored 61 points - the age of his grandad. Airballed a free throw and took himself out. COuld have got the state record but the dedication meant more to him. Guy plays for North Carolina now if I'm not mistaken.

You can't say if a guy should play or not. Stima is right, his dad might have wanted him to play the game, and I'm sure Favre will play an inspired game.

#1-norm-fan 12-22-2003 09:33 PM

I'm just saying good for Favre because it was up to him whether to play or not and he decided to do it. That takes alot of guts. Maybe "Good for him" isn't the right wording, but you know what I mean.

#1-norm-fan 12-22-2003 09:34 PM

And I watched a special about that high school kid, Outlaw. Pretty incredible.

AareDub 12-22-2003 10:38 PM

Woo! Favre and the Packers are off to a great start, 14-0 already.

road doggy dogg 12-22-2003 10:39 PM

God, Brett Favre is the ****ing man

#1-norm-fan 12-22-2003 10:40 PM

Wow. So much for Favre not playing well. 10 minutes in and he's 6 for 6 for 128 yds and 2 TDs! :wow:

road doggy dogg 12-22-2003 10:45 PM

Damn, Garner had some niiiiiiice moves on that score

road doggy dogg 12-22-2003 11:12 PM

WHAT A PASS!!!!!!!!

#1-norm-fan 12-22-2003 11:38 PM

This is unreal. 15 of 17, 311 yds, 4 TDs... in the first half.

Kris P Lettus 12-22-2003 11:39 PM

Many nice passes...

300+ yards in the first half.. Farve is the f'n mang....

AareDub 12-22-2003 11:45 PM

Damn, this game just reminds me why I love the Packers (and Favre) so much. I hope he retires with GB, I can't imagine him playing for any other team.

The Outlaw 12-23-2003 12:37 AM

Yeah, he is unbelievable.

Kris P Lettus 12-23-2003 12:59 AM

OMG

That catch by Driver...

The recievers should get credit too.. The're balling out of control tonight..

road doggy dogg 12-23-2003 01:27 AM

Brett Favre is the greatest football player in the leagueeeee

#1-norm-fan 12-23-2003 06:46 AM

Yeah. You could tell on some of those catches that the recievers were really trying extra hard. 12 different recievers too. Holy crap.

And Favre isn't the man. The term "the man" only understates what he is. A new word would need to be invented before he is labeled as anything.

Kid Robb 12-23-2003 09:09 AM

Lol Cheeba, good call about Favre :D

What an absolute star. I watched the game in shock at the start, he barely warmed up and came out unbelievably hot. Shows why he's still one of the best in the business, under any pressure, any circumstances, he does the amazing.

road doggy dogg 12-23-2003 02:47 PM

It's games like that that remind me why I ever became a Packers fan in the beginning. When they're on like that, they're just so much fun to watch. Whenever they have the ball, you're wondering when or how they're going to score, not "if". It reminded me of back in like '96 when they had Freeman and Brooks and were just so fun to watch. Awesome game, even if it was totally lopsided.

It's kinda funny too, Rice had like 150 yards, yet nobody was talking about him at all. Poor guy

The Outlaw 12-23-2003 04:23 PM

Rice is the man.

Favre is the man.

:)

Jesus Shuttlesworth 12-24-2003 01:13 AM

seriously Cheeba......THE COACH SHOULDA BENCHED FAVRE!!!

The Outlaw 12-24-2003 04:39 PM

lol
