Is New Jack the most popular wrestler to never step foot in WCW or WWE

One of those random thoughts I had watching ECW.

It's completely ridiculous, but it's probably New Jack

Juan 08-05-2014 09:47 PM

Probably still Sting, for now

Shisen Kopf 08-05-2014 09:47 PM

Fuck you dude. MG Hurst.

Shisen Kopf 08-05-2014 09:48 PM

Sting was never in wcw??

cnoslim 08-05-2014 09:49 PM

I'll say yes just because the lucky bastard got to bang terri runnels

Bad News Gertner 08-05-2014 09:49 PM

Christ, that was supposed to say WCW or WWE. Topic fail.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2014 09:51 PM

Probably some TNA dude is more popular than New Jack

Bad News Gertner 08-05-2014 09:54 PM

Lol name one.

ECW was pretty big, and the WWE releasing all this ECW footage even more people know him, plus shit like Beyond the Mat and his stabbing people on youtube and beating a 70 year old man with a baseball bat.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2014 09:56 PM

Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, James Storm.... probably all more popular than New Jack.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2014 09:57 PM

Wait, AJ Styles was in WCW so :foc: him.

road doggy dogg 08-05-2014 09:57 PM

I'd say probably AJ Styles but I wouldn't dispute if you said otherwise

Magnum TA. He rassled in the NWA but never WCW.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2014 09:58 PM

He was part of the tag team division in the dying months....

Air Styles and Air Paris....... AIR RAID

Shisen Kopf 08-05-2014 09:58 PM

I'd bet my house that New Jack was more popular than Bobby Roode and James Storm.

McLegend 08-05-2014 10:18 PM

There is no way it can be New Jack.

#1-norm-fan 08-05-2014 10:20 PM

It seems like someone had to have gained SOME semblance of popularity somehow without setting foot in WWE or WCW. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head though.

McLegend 08-05-2014 10:20 PM

Magnum TA

He was never in WCW.

Bad News Gertner 08-05-2014 10:20 PM

James Storm wrestled in WCW and Robert Roode wrestled in the WWE

NWA/WCW is basically the same thing. He wrestled in the big two. WCW became WCW in 1986, the same year Magnum got into his accident.

Lol I told ya, New Jack seems ridiculous but it's very hard to come up with a different answer.

#1-norm-fan 08-05-2014 10:23 PM

I guess it depends on how you define popularity. If it's just within the wrestling world, it could definitely be New Jack. If we're counting mainstream recognition, there are guys on TV and in movies who could win out.

The only TNA guy that wold come close is Samoa Joe

McLegend 08-05-2014 10:26 PM

Was Steve Corino in WCW?

I'm defining it as people know who he is.

Lol like I said, name one.

Savio 08-05-2014 10:26 PM

Probably Bruiser Brody

Corino wrestles matches in the WWF

McLegend 08-05-2014 10:27 PM

Even if Steve Corino was never in WCW he will probably not be dubbed as popular as New Jack.

So I will lose again

Well if that's the case, more people know who Eric Young is than New Jack.

He's got some show on Animal Planet that is relatively popular. My fucking mom knows who he is.

#1-norm-fan 08-05-2014 10:31 PM

But of course he probably jobbed on an episode of Jakked or something.

Bad News Gertner 08-05-2014 10:32 PM

You basically have to find someone who was completely independant (I consider ECW to be independant)

McLegend 08-05-2014 10:32 PM

Simon Diamond

Frank Gotch and Georg Hackenschmidt

Bad News Gertner 08-05-2014 10:35 PM

Im positive Simon and Swinger wrestled in a Dark Match in the WWF. That being said, New Jack was more popular

It couldn't be an ECW guy. Anyone in ECW as popular as New Jack would have at least stepped foot in WWE or WCW.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2014 10:42 PM

Rockstar Spud more popular

#1-norm-fan 08-05-2014 10:43 PM

I've got the answer...

Andy Kaufman.

Every match New Jack rassled was a dark match....ey-oh!

Vastardikai 08-05-2014 10:50 PM

Kenta Kobashi.

Vastardikai 08-05-2014 10:53 PM

And I wouldn't call what New Jack does "wrestling."

Bad News Gertner 08-05-2014 10:56 PM

When did New Jack wrestle in a dark match? If so then this has been a complete waste of fucking time.

Slater Gator baby!

Also, I skimmed through cagematch.net and found no New Jack matches for WWE or WCW.

False premise of a thread. New Jack was NOT a wrestler. He wasn't even a brawler. He was just a propsmith.

Bad News Gertner 08-05-2014 11:03 PM

New Jack was awesome. The Gangstas were bad fucking ass.

Shisen Kopf 08-05-2014 11:03 PM

Im gonna base my King of the Forum platform on the release of Buck Zumhofe back into society.

ron the dial 08-05-2014 11:19 PM

i need him to bring his half awful normal sized wrestlers/half midget wrestler promotion back to my hometown for more mediocre action set on a sand volleyball court!

still can't believe i met him and his daughter. one of the weirdest anecdotes of my life.

Bad News Gertner 08-05-2014 11:19 PM

I remember when Poit said none of my topic threads ever got responses.

Weirdest or greatest? You shook hands with a legend. Lol still love your Buck Zumhofe encounter.

If you're counting one-off jobber matches of the Velocity/Heat variety, then AJ Styles was eliminated even without the Air Raid reference.

Was Hayabusa or The Giant Baba ever in WWE/WCW?

Shisen Kopf 08-06-2014 03:54 PM

Baba had wrestled for Vincent J. McMahon in the United States in the early 1960s, unsuccessfully challenging NWA champion Buddy Rogers for the world title, and returning to face Bruno Sammartino for the WWWF title in 1963 in Madison Square Garden. Bruno retained, defeating Baba.--this was actually mine but Wikipedia plagiarized it from me. Assholes.
