Aaaaaaaaaaaaand GO!

DaveBrawl 04-22-2014 06:52 PM

Looks so awesome.

ClockShot 04-22-2014 09:32 PM

Judging by that last scene in the trailer, there's a lot of allies you could recruit in this one.

Fignuts 04-23-2014 02:05 AM

No one expects Dragon Age Inquisition!

alvarado52 04-25-2014 03:41 PM

Stoked. I was admittedly late to the DA party, but fell in love with it...I actually really enjoyed DA2, even if it was a bit linear.

Either way, cant wait to pick up and see where this series goes.

ClockShot 05-13-2014 06:26 PM

I loved both og the first two, pumped up for this one.

Destor 09-01-2014 03:32 PM

DA:O is one of my all time fav games...DA:2 broke my heart. Awful streamlined piece of shit. The devs have sworn that theyre going to back to thier root-ish so...I pre-ordered mine last month.

HOWEVER this could be it for Bioware and I.

Kris P Lettus 09-01-2014 03:39 PM

Yeah 2 def wasnt on par with Origins but I enjoyed them both.

Destor 09-01-2014 03:39 PM

The story of 2 was excellent.

Kris P Lettus 09-01-2014 03:40 PM

Yeah I just hated i couldnt be a battle tank Dwarf

Destor 09-01-2014 04:04 PM

Or effect the outcome. Or need to have any tactical gameplay out side of SPAM ATTACK. Or visit unique maps.

But hey...I banged so many elves.

Destor 09-01-2014 04:05 PM

 +1 DA:2

alvarado52 09-01-2014 04:40 PM

I enjoyed both. Actually sorta enjoyed 2 more because it felt more like Mass Effect, gameplay wise. Also, with the exception of Fallout, a mute protagonist sorta bugs me.

Heisenberg 09-03-2014 09:31 AM

Bioware and I also share a love/hate relationship as well, Destor. I hold onto hope that they revamp the Jade Empire series, I thorougly enjoyed that game

Destor 09-03-2014 11:33 AM

Great game! Fuzz too easy to kit enemies via hope over + strike but I really loved it.

At the end of this game they make you choose between killing all the dragons or making everybody into dragons.

Destor 09-05-2014 04:32 AM

Will...will I get to fly???

Friendly reminder. Dragon Age Keep beta kicked off today. For those of you who want your choices from Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening, and II to carry over, sign up and get started.

ClockShot 10-29-2014 07:00 PM

Oh, and if a mod would be so kind as to merge this Dragon Age thread and mine. It would be much appreciated.

Awesome it does seem to tie in to your origin account and remember what you did. For some reason I was thinking I would have to manually enter everything, knew I had forgotten so much.

DaveBrawl 10-30-2014 08:31 AM

I didn't play Origins though so I do have to make my choices for that.

Yes. It found all my data for Dragon Age 2. Had to do a tweak here and there for Origins.

To be honest, you can rewrite everything if you want.

DaveBrawl 10-30-2014 09:50 AM

I'd definitely want to keep things carried over, that was one thing that kind of made me sad about this game the thought I had to do it all from scratch as there is no way I will remember everything. Loved that about Mass Effect even though my dude in ME1 ended up looking like Chuck Norris with a flat top in ME3.

alvarado52 11-01-2014 07:15 PM

The Keep webpage is open. In case you dont know what it is, its basically the website that will transfer your games (as long as you sign in with the same email as your Origins linked account). It also lets you make adjustments to your decisions, and at the end you can play a video that will go through all your decisions as a way to remind you of everything.

Was on the way out of the house, didnt have time but thought i'd throw it in to help out since the game release was so close.

Thanks for taking the time and giving enough shit to actually neg rep for my failed attempt at helping, it reallllllyy hurt.

Destor 11-11-2014 03:53 AM

ONE WEEK

ClockShot 11-11-2014 06:22 AM

Nothing but great reviews over on Metacritic this morning.

Destor 11-11-2014 06:50 AM

Legit this game is killing it on the review scores

drave 11-11-2014 06:54 AM

Are they LEGIT reviews though??!?!!?!

I want to ensure that reviewer A is not/has not/will not be fucking developer B or any combination thereof. If that happens, I will..... KEEP PLAYING GAMES!

To compromise with #gamergate all reviewers and developers now have biannual orgies.

Destor 11-11-2014 06:56 AM

#EQUALITY

drave 11-11-2014 06:57 AM

LMAO!

dronepool 11-23-2014 08:21 PM

Been thinking about getting this.

drave 11-23-2014 10:01 PM

Having played through about 60 minutes of this game, it is definitely worth it on current gen. Gameplay is super fun, especially the combat. Thus far, no complaints but I know I have much further to go.

Destor 11-24-2014 06:21 AM

I still have 20 hours or so in two before I start 3. Really glad I decided to play through the series again I'm enjoyed 2 more than I ever have in the past.

SPOILER: show
Forgot to raise Isabella's disposition before the fight with the Arishok and I lost her so when I do the keep I will def be correcting my error.

drave 11-24-2014 06:42 AM

I never finished DAII so I made all my keep changes on the fly, more or less. Could not stomach II after about 8-10 hours, kept putting me to sleep.

ClockShot 11-24-2014 03:49 PM

Gotta go to the Keep and lock all my choices in.

Got some vacation time coming up and hope to crack this open and get started soon.

Emperor Smeat 11-24-2014 05:52 PM

PC version supposedly the buggiest out of all the platforms with EA offering as the only solution to delete and re-download/install the game until a patch (or a few) arrives.

Destor 11-25-2014 03:41 AM

Finished 2 and just finished my keep state. Ended up not fixing my previously mentioned error. felt it added flavor to the playthrough. Dunno. Will fire up DA:I once I get home. Likely only going to make my inquisitor and then stop at the first logical save point.

VERY EXCITED THOUGH.

drave 11-25-2014 05:36 AM

Game keeps getting better. Shortage of potions, or lack of way to heal so far. Two more levels and my mage follower (wtf ever the bald dude is called) will have a healing-type spell.

HOORAY for poisoned daggers - makes a shit ton of difference as a rogue.

Destor 11-26-2014 01:54 AM

LACK OF TACTICS MENU MAKES ME SAD

Destor 11-28-2014 08:23 PM

Skyhold is really amazing

whiteyford 12-02-2014 12:15 PM

How similar is this to Skyrim, keep seeing the two put together in comparisons for reviews, just they have dragons?

drave 12-02-2014 01:19 PM

Not that similar, honestly. I mean, you have a party and heavy RPG elements, but that is about it.I would say the story is MUCH more detailed and has a ton more substance. The gameplay is completey different though and more MMORPG'ish in the sense of cooldowns and minumum resource for casting.

drave 12-02-2014 01:21 PM

Example of the combat AND dragons.....

Dragon fights are much more "epic" in the sense you really cannot approach a dragon and just melee his facehole and expect him to keel over. You have to target limbs, incapacitate him and then do the major damage.

They sound and look cooler too :P

Destor 12-03-2014 12:50 PM

Not even remote similar. Both great games tho

Fignuts 12-04-2014 02:24 PM

Have a 4 day weekend, so I'm picking this up today. Can't wait.

Heard there is so much content that it is overwhelming. Love that feeling though. Makes me feel like the game is going to last, and that I got my money's worth.

drave 12-04-2014 02:29 PM

Definitely a fuckton to do. I have put about 10 hours in it and only opened 2 new "zones". Granted, one of them starts with enemies around level 12, which is above what I can currently handle, so I am still playing in the starting area + coast.

You will see "LEAVE HINTERLANDS ASAP" on the webs a lot. Just don't leave TOO quickly like I did. Lotsa fun stuff in the game, hope you enjoy it.

Destor 12-04-2014 07:48 PM

Just slayed my first high dragon. Had the hardest time keeping my party alive past the half way point. Ended up tanking her by myself lol

Super tense fight tho

Destor 12-04-2014 08:23 PM

Oh and to the hinterlands stuff: stick with the main story quests until you open up the specialization classes. Thank me later

Fignuts 12-04-2014 11:19 PM

Can I go back to the hinterlands once I've left? And how long before these specialization classes open? Just got to hinderlands and freed the crossroads.

Also, holy shit, you know it's gonna be a long game when an hour in you finally get the title screen.

drave 12-05-2014 06:04 AM

You can go back to the Hinterlands, yes. That is what I had to do because I left too soon and was getting beat down everywhere I tried to go.

No idea about specializations, level 10 maybe?

Destor 12-05-2014 10:09 AM

Its a few main quests in. 4-5. You'll be. Around level 10

Destor 12-05-2014 10:12 AM

Go ahead and explore and have fun with thw sandbox but keep focused on the main questline until then. You dont want to have to respec your inquisitor just because you got distracted hunting elfroot for 18 hours

drave 12-05-2014 10:25 AM

So guilty of this. Like god damn World of Warcraft. There was a great Shenmue line for this behavior, something along the lines of...

"I will avenge my brother's death!!
After I play this game, go to work
and pet this kitty."

Fignuts 12-05-2014 11:36 AM

Oh, well my dudes are only like level 5-6, so I can prolly hang out a bit more. Went to those marshes and a couple zombies almost killed a couple members of my party. Was like Noooooooooope. Back to the fuzzy bunny infested forest.

drave 12-05-2014 11:44 AM

LOL!

Did the same thing. Used tactical to see the lowest level was 12 and my party max level was 8.

Haven't had a chance to play all week. Spent around 10 hours or so picking elfroot up to now :|

Destor 12-05-2014 11:47 AM

The fiirst respect pot (sold by your armorer) is only 1g so its obviously affordable by the specializations do make the game better. Plus you unlock the focus system which is a big plus.

Heisenberg 12-05-2014 11:52 AM

I respect your guy's opinions. Would I enjoy this game?

Shenmue was mentioned

I like Mass Effect

been playing any kind of RPGs since the NES days. Not really glued down to one type of RPG, I love the story and character build. I love fire, saving bitches in distress and dragons.

Heisenberg 12-05-2014 11:54 AM

I know I can just get on someone's Twitch and watch them play it, but I don't know those people that well.

drave 12-05-2014 11:57 AM

I think you would enjoy it if you enjoyed Mass Effect. Deep character development + main story complete with party member side stories, a la ME2.

Think of it as ME without guns and stuff and with more RPG elements added. I can set up a twitch broadcast tonight or this weekend if you like. I am not far into the game, so you may not see much, but you will get the idea of combat, which I love as a dagger wielding backstabbing rogue.

Heisenberg 12-05-2014 11:59 AM

I'm stacked on games, but I can see myself enjoying it. I'd love a clip if you deem something worthy of me viewing.

I haven't got to play all week as part of my Father Mission. Trying to build some cred to throw in my father's face, plus it's just best for business

drave 12-05-2014 12:04 PM

It is definitely a MAJOR time sink. There are some who claim they have logged 60-80 hours and ignored the main mission (up to a point) so they still have stuff to work through.

Definitely a massive game.

Destor 12-05-2014 12:21 PM

Im almost 50hours in (took a vacation the week it dropped..then got sick this week and was sent home. ..WIN) and ive barely scratched the surface of this game.

So if you're like me and dont buy a lot of games this is one youll get your money out of.

Destor 12-05-2014 08:27 PM

The rewards for completing a regions astrariums are very worth it. About to complete my first regions worth of shard collecting. WILL REPORT BACK.

Fignuts 12-06-2014 09:58 PM

Fucking Dragon in the Hinterlands kicked my ass 3 times now. This last time I thought I leveled up enough to take him, especially since the elf mage dude maxed out his healing abilities, but after getting him down to less than a quarter of health, he starts spamming his fireball attack and toasted my party.

BUT

Just unlocked enchantment stuff, so I'm gonna craft some fire resistant armor and wreck his shit.

Fignuts 12-06-2014 10:01 PM

Also, jesus fuck this game is huge.

Think it was Requiem who recently said no single player experience is worth $65.

Dragon Age says UP YOURS Req.

complete the astariums in the hinterlands and you'll get a unique belt that gives 30% fire resistance. it was a HUGE help.

Fignuts 12-07-2014 11:38 AM

Oh shit, forgot about that. I actually had completed that already, but I just threw the belt on a random party member to keep their pants up.

God I hope I didn't sell it.

Also, great as this game is, there are a ton of bugs in this. Like, PS3 Skyrim bad. Nothing game breaking, but my dude's voice changed for some reason.

Destor 12-07-2014 01:09 PM

yeah if you
SPOILER: show
edit hawke's default face
it will change the voice to the primary voice slot. I had to load back about an hour worth of gameplay to fix it.

is that what you did?

Destor 12-07-2014 01:10 PM

also: collected all the shards in a view regions. No reward. It would seem that there a singular reward for collecting them all. Which i apporove of.

I cant confirm this but it seems like they are tied to a dungeon in one of the desert regions.

Fignuts 12-07-2014 02:03 PM

Yup.

Also, might want to spoiler tag that.

Destor 12-07-2014 02:17 PM

edited, they advertised that character making a cameo so I didnt think it was a spoiler but edited all the same

Destor 12-07-2014 10:09 PM

So for the past hour i have been locked in battle with Vinsomer the high dragon who is a LVL 19 to my LVL 16. She wiped my party pretty quicky but my inquisitor is practically unkillable. Sword and shield champion with 2% heal on strike weapon and gear that increases the heal% and tons of ways to generate guard (and with the champion skill tree damage invulnerability for 8seconds every 32 seconds [-1sec cooldown of all skills per being hit {so that a lot of chances to heal with no damage being taken basically.}]) thing is Vinsomer generates a guard worth her entire 21k of HP. So once you deal 21k damage you have...15-30 seconds to actually pull from her HP. I have her down to 15k presently. Im gonna kill her...but this will take another 4 hours...

Destor 12-07-2014 10:19 PM

sorry its not 20k

Destor 12-07-2014 10:20 PM

its 200k

Destor 12-07-2014 11:13 PM

...138k to go

playing on hard ftr...i think on my nightmare run I will out level her a bit lol

Destor 12-07-2014 11:56 PM

120k

so yeah. almost 20k an hour...thats 6 more hours...on the up and up I was needing to stay up all night tonight to work a midnight monday...so...yay? #fuckme

Destor 12-08-2014 01:00 AM

88k

Destor 12-08-2014 02:04 AM

65k... >_>

Destor 12-08-2014 02:57 AM

35k

Destor 12-08-2014 04:07 AM

DONE

that was brutal

Destor 12-08-2014 04:07 AM

about 7 hours

drave 12-08-2014 04:42 AM

Were the spoils worth the effort?

Destor 12-08-2014 05:35 AM

Not for my build or prefered party. High level dagger and a ring for 30% flanking damage. Obviously the dagger goes to cole. Put the ring on Sera. Dunno how much she'll benefit from it but she's my dps queen so it cant hurt... plus the average crafting jazz you expect. I did get the Master Dragon slaying rune blue print. so thats a plus.

drave 12-08-2014 05:57 AM

WTB a high level dagger xD

I am only level 8, nearly 9. Had a bit more play time yesterday and accomplished quite a bit, acquired a horse as well. Need to go progress the main story a bit more.

Encountered a dragon in Hinterlands and had to run like hell. She managed to take down half my party but lolrogue vanish FTW.

Destor 12-08-2014 06:16 AM

Wtb?

And there ain't no shame in running from dragons! So fierce. So scary.

drave 12-08-2014 06:40 AM

Sorry, "want to buy". Stuck in my head from my mmo days :(

Using some decent daggers I guess.... I can one shot things 4-5 levels higher than me usually (twin fangs from stealth). I believe they are rated around 150ish DPS. I have armor pen on one and bleed damage on the other, both have +6 to dex.

Destor 12-08-2014 08:41 AM

Just so you have an idea what the future holds:
Wyvern Tooth

28th DPS
111 DMG
25% armor pen
3% bleed on hit
8 Dex

Rune slot open

drave 12-08-2014 09:20 AM

Armor pen is niiiiiiiiiiiiiice especially since I am going to side with the Mages. Think I have 2% bleed now.

Had my first experience with the undead last night, holy hell. They made my poison weapons moot so I was throwing fire grenades. Sooooooooooooo satisfying with the visuals.

Destor 12-08-2014 09:34 AM

Shoulda been 285 dps lol

Heisenberg 12-08-2014 10:04 AM

I'm usually a two handed berserker warrior in all the RPGs I play. I think I'd be suited to be a ranged class. I have so little time to play all my games, but that's a good problem. I'll never bore for the next year.

On that topic what class/party is everyone using?

Im playing a full tank amd while i mix it up my preffered party is ranged. Dorian using necro/electric solas using ice/fire/barriers and sera with her alchamey maxed and archery.

I draw aggro and then just have them maul everyone from the rims.

drave 12-08-2014 11:15 AM

I am dual-wielding daggers.

Party consists of Blackwall to tank, Sera being a beast with ranged and Solas going barrier/cold. I had him as lightning but was not impressed. Game became 100x easier when I made him cold instead.

Will probably make Cassandra more aggressive instead of tankish. Vivienne (or wtf ever her name is) will be my barrier/fire. Those are the only members I have so far. Oh yea, the 2h Warrior (cannot recall his name atm) sits out for now until I get a better hold on things.

Destor 12-08-2014 11:29 AM

I struggle keeping Iron Bull from taking too much damage. Hits hard but hes a glass cannon. Thee are some good 2H weapons that add guard but its not enough. He's fun and i take him out with Vivian because their banter is amazing but for the big fights he goes back to the keep.

Destor 12-08-2014 11:29 AM

And lightning eats too much mana. Might respec dorian based off that alone
