The Randy Orton Appreciation Thread
Randy orton has worked hard these last few years and deserves some credit.
He has been my favorite superstar to watch in ring and out. Always entertaining always extending and thriving to do better. Randy has turned Critics to crickets this year especially. Remember when everyone said Orton is done when he was babyface? Now look at him. Atop the WWE main-eventing WWE's HIAC pay per view against John Cena. John Cena requested this match against Orton because he seen progress and how hard he has worked this few years. Keep up the good work Orton. #Living Legend. |

Hey STD that's not a thing.
|
Yes, it is.
Disco Fever! Disco Fever! Disco Fever Ya ya ya ya! ..../...../.../ ~~~~~ .../ .../ .../ |
The local inuits warned me about you STD. Beware.
|
Did they put it intu u?
|
There he is slithering!
RKO OUTTA NOWHERE! |
Orton as a character is really boring to me. I remember a couple years back making a thread asking "Why is Orton a face?" because, kayfabe-wise, it does not make any sense for us to cheer him. What has he done that was worthy of our praise? No personality on the mic at all.
I love Evolution though and RKO is my fav finisher. I just think Orton is a bland character but fuck y'all all y'all if y'all don't like me blow me |
Exactly. He is boring as hell.
My son watches and even calls him boring, hehe. Pretty bad when a child can point it out. |
How are any of those three even comparable to Orton's character?
|
I've always liked Orton's ring work, but yeah his "character" is goddamn boring.

Their characters are nothing like Orton's.
|
That's debatable
|
Debate it then. Provide your argument.

Orton has been extremely boring ever since he ditched the psychotic Viper persona, and stopped punting people in the head.

You still didn't answer my question. C'mon, it's a slow work day and I'm taking the bait.
|
He was better as the occasional loose canon tturned face. His run in the Smackdown main event scene was some of his best work. His character is obscenely boring at the moment and his character has been botched since his heel turn last year. Not entirely his fault.
|
He’s desperately trying to make the best of a bad situation lately, that’s for sure, but right now he just can’t polish up the turd that is his character that he has been given enough to make anyone really care about him.
Sad, really. |
I care for Randy.
Handsome, Intellegent, In-shape everything you want and need. |

His promo last Monday was nice. I'd like to see his current frustrations with his situation and status in the company come through during his promos. Gives him a fresh take and possibly build fan reaction and some momentum. Might also make his promos interesting.

I'm infallible, you see. |
His matches with Daniel Bryan and with Christian in 2011 were fantastic. The guy can put on five-star matches with the right guys.
|
His ring work is usually good but always felt he seems more comfortable playing a heel than as a face the majority of the time. Something about his face runs that usually either fall flat or get boring really quickly.

His character since they threw him back into the title scene and turned him heel again though has been absolute shit. |
Ortons promo monday was pretty good but thats about it.
|
They need to let Orton loose on the mic.
|
Just let him vent his current frustrations.
|
He just got a new contract that lets him do part-time. What's he got to be mad about?
|
If what the dirtsheets are saying is true, an Orton/Rollins feud leading up to Orton facing Lesnar at the Rumble would be great. It'd help solidify Orton as a face again, and I think Orton and Rollins will def be able to have some five-star matches, which will help regain Orton's popularity with the mature/male audience.
|
Orton should be a Tweener RKOing everybody (out of nowhere)
|
Nooe can fuck with the viper. He's more dangerous than ever before.
He can't be stopped. Not even by a 15 time world champion. |
|
I don't mind Orton. I kinda wish Clerk would stop being a dweeb, though.

I'd appreciate an apology since I didn't make a hostile remark or anything of that nature. Apologize or else. |
It wasn't an insult. Just an observation. You said this...

Orton is my favorite right along with Ambrose/Reigns.
I'd rather see him and Lesnar than lame Cena finally getting revenge on Brock. |
AJ you had me. Then you lost me.
John Cena has made this company basically from the ground up. We would have scrubs rn if it wasn't for him. Show alittle resepct would ya? |
Incidentally, the intro music for Scrubs was titled "I'm No Superman"
John Cena is with the goddamn illuminati |
Orton is occasionally alright in the ring, and even more occasionally alright as a character....
But I made a solemn vow to hate him forever after the dark events that occurred in 2011. |
poopgate?
|
Dunno about anyone else, but I immensely enjoyed both the Orton v. Triple H matches for the WWE Championship at No Mercy 2007. Show opens with HHH beating Orton for the title, then in the main event Orton wins it back in a grueling and brutal Last Man Standing match.
Miss a lot of the old PPVs 2000-2008 (Backlash, Judgment Day, No Mercy, Unforgiven, Vengeance, Armageddon...) :( |
#1-wwf-fan is correct when it comes to Randy Orton. As a face, he was red-hot even when he was aimless. Give him an aim and I guarantee he could generate some money for the company. Especially with this "RKO outta nowhere!" business. I just hope the company doesn't run that into the ground if he turns face.
All Orton needs to do is RKO Triple H, and the shirts will fly off the shelves. |
