Kalyx triaD 03-10-2015 08:25 PM

I think there's a thread for this, nigga.

Lock Jaw 03-10-2015 09:10 PM

To be fair, that thread doesn't even mention Daredevil in the thread title.

slik 03-10-2015 11:13 PM

lol I knew Kalyx would be unhappy about this thread somehow

ron the dial 03-10-2015 11:32 PM

there are too many threads on this forum goddammit

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2015 12:53 AM

Just saying...

slik 03-11-2015 01:41 AM

You are the biggest drama queen about silly things...

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2015 01:48 AM

Before your time and the Marvel/DC threads things were kinda messy whenever news came up. If you guys wanna get lax about it I'm coo. Just sayin. Once upon a time those nuggets in the comic threads were entire threads.

slik 03-11-2015 01:49 AM

this is a tv series not a comic book...

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2015 01:51 AM

lol You realize what the intent of the Marvel/DC threads are were, right? It wasn't even about the books way back when.

slik 03-11-2015 01:54 AM

So, this is a series on Netflix that looks kind of cool.

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2015 02:03 AM

Spitting the obvious, nigga.

slik 03-11-2015 02:26 AM

duuuude

chill.

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2015 02:33 AM

We bout to have a nigga moment.

Sixx 03-11-2015 03:01 AM

Ok, I'm surprised D'Onofrio makes a pretty cool Kingpin (in the pics at least).

OssMan 03-11-2015 07:24 AM

Seems good wat's it about?

slik 03-11-2015 08:13 AM

blind guy who fights crime in the courtroom by day as an attorney and at night as a masked vigilante who uses ninja moves

I see the thread moved into deep discussion regarding the topic.

I like The Flash, he is fast.

Not as fast as Superman :P

Ruien 03-11-2015 04:24 PM

Damnit Slik, stop making new threads in this hot section of the forum. Please place it in the proper Marvel/DC forum from now on. Can't take this crap anymore.

Ruien 03-11-2015 04:25 PM

Love all Netflix Original shows. Can't wait for this and Bloodline. That new comedy they just put out is pretty funny too.

drave 03-12-2015 07:20 AM

Slik, if you cause Ruien to come unglued again, I fear for your safety.

Sixx 04-02-2015 05:11 AM

Why is imdb showing the release date for all the episodes as April 10th?

All the episodes gonna be released at once?

Kalyx triaD 04-02-2015 07:38 AM

Yeah the whole season. They're acting on the 'binge watch' habits.

Sixx 04-02-2015 07:44 AM

I like that.

Just hope they don't make us wait a whole year for the 2nd season.

Shadow 04-02-2015 10:07 AM

It's the Netflix model. And it works. It just...works.

I cannot wait.

loopydate 04-04-2015 11:26 PM

Apparently the "premiere" screening of the first two episodes was a huge success. The headline for Forbes' review calls it "one of Marvel's greatest achievements." Pretty much everything I'm reading says something similar.

I was excited before. Now I'm counting days.

Shadow 04-05-2015 04:03 PM

April 10th right?

SHIT I HAVE TO WORK!

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-09-2015 03:07 PM

It has Deborah Ann Woll in it, so I'll be watching it.

Kalyx triaD 04-10-2015 03:13 AM

NOW

Blonde Moment 04-10-2015 07:27 AM

1 episode in and I find it will be very hard not to binge watch this.
It is a real shame this is not on Tv

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-10-2015 09:40 AM

Thank you, Deborah Ann Woll, for the side-boob action.

But, yeah, seen the first episode and I thought it was quite promising. It seems a lot darker than Agents of Shield, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general, but I don't think that is a bad thing; maybe more appealing to older viewers.

slik 04-10-2015 10:13 AM

Prolly going to watch it tonight

road doggy dogg 04-10-2015 10:25 AM

did someone say sideboob

Lock Jaw 04-10-2015 11:03 AM

Won't have a chance to check any out until Sunday....

dronepool 04-10-2015 12:48 PM

Watched 3 episodes, awesome stuff.

Nark Order 04-10-2015 01:40 PM

On 2nd episode, wonderfully done thus far.

The Destroyer 04-10-2015 02:08 PM

Crap, forgot it was out this weekend. Already got loads of stuff to watch. :'(

Kalyx triaD 04-10-2015 02:28 PM

That oner at the end of Eps 2; holy fuck.

Allusions to its connections to the MCU would place this Phase 2 canon wise. The battle of New York really trickled down. Great to see the nitty gritty effects of that. Adds weight.

Nark Order 04-10-2015 02:34 PM

Fight scenes in this are so incredible and realistic. Well, as realistic as one guy taking out 5 guys can be. Murdoch gets thrashed. Nice to see a superhero that doesn't just wreck shop at will. Into every character.

Really into this so far.

Rammsteinmad 04-10-2015 02:38 PM

Jealous jealous jealous.

Might start watching this tomorrow if I get a chance. I'm actually two episodes behind with Agents of SHIELD but am struggling to find time at the moment.

Mercenary 04-10-2015 03:50 PM

great so far

Fignuts 04-10-2015 05:04 PM

Netflix can do no wrong at this point. Their original content is as reliably awesome as HBO's.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-10-2015 05:20 PM

Only saw the first episode this morning before heading out. Got all weekend free though so gonna try and binge it and finish by Sunday night.

ClockShot 04-10-2015 05:23 PM

Holding off until tomorrow afternoon to start this up. Watch a few episodes on my 3DS while on the plane should make the ride go fast.

Rammsteinmad 04-10-2015 05:32 PM

Fuck all the positive reviews this has been getting has me super pumped. I won't be able to start watching it until tomorrow night at the earliest though. Super excited for this.

Destor 04-10-2015 07:45 PM

Just finished the teaser of ep.1 and had to come and post how good it was:

Man that ep 1 teaser was really good!

Innovator 04-10-2015 09:14 PM

Just finished the first episode, totally in

Destor 04-10-2015 09:45 PM

The fight scene at the end of episode 2 is one of the most impressive oners ive ever seen and that isn't hyperbole. It also might be the most super heroic thing i have ever seen. So human.

This is pretty easily the best of the super hero shows. It isnt even close.

Fuck sakes! And I'd just gotten over 'binge watching' Law and Order SVU on there. :nono:

#NewJourney

Fignuts 04-11-2015 12:29 AM

Yep. I rarely binge watch anything, but I'm halfway through it in one day.

Fignuts 04-11-2015 12:40 AM

Phenomenal casting too. Particularly with Vanessa and the kingpin.

Nark Order 04-11-2015 01:05 AM

Was not expecting Kingpin to be like this and it is magnificent. Thought he would just be a typical dominant big boss type and he isn't like that at all. He's an anxietal emotional wreck.

and Fignuts, I'm with you on the fight scene at the end of episode 2. Boss as fuck. The coolest thing about the fight scenes is that everybody poses a threat. Murdock is always like one punch away from getting knocked out.

So cool so far.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-11-2015 03:11 PM

Yeah five episodes in and loving how Kingpin is portrayed so far. Netflix are such a powerhouse when it comes to TV shows now. Absolute quality in most things they do.

Gonna get to around episode 8 this evening and then finish it off tomorrow.

Shadow 04-11-2015 04:13 PM

Marvel is showing they can do "gritty" and "dark" with this one. Cannot wait for Jessica Jones and David Tennent as the Purple Man. That's gonna be a mind fuck.

Fignuts 04-11-2015 11:58 PM

Lots of attention to Daredevil lore in this. Can tell the people who made this genuinely love the source material.

Also, just finished watching episode 8, and my god it was one of the best episodes of any tv show I've ever seen. Home fucking run.

Also
SPOILER: show
Loving the little trickling in of The Hand that we're getting.

GD 04-12-2015 02:03 AM

I am surprised. Is this is the first time that Disney has indirectly created content that is TV Mature?

the drama. It excites my bones. Makes me sweat.

Oh yeah.

Maybe that specific rating. But they own Miramax I think. They've had plenty of movies with mature content.

GD 04-12-2015 06:08 AM

:y:

Fignuts 04-12-2015 12:23 PM

Finished it

Awesome all the way through. Not a bad episode in the bunch.

CSL 04-12-2015 03:55 PM

my comic book/Marvel...ness goes about as far as "I quite liked The Avengers". I'm sure I can still watch this and enjoy it but will I be "missing out" on a bunch of little things?

Fignuts 04-12-2015 04:00 PM

Nope. They mention the avengers in a couple passing comments, but it is not tied to any of the stories at all.

There are lots of little nods to daredevil lore, but you won't miss any key story stuff from it.

Shadow 04-12-2015 05:07 PM

Think of this as the Iron Man 1 of the Marvel Street Universe. There is a lot of world building this show is doing in order to have the other street level shows connect to the main universe. If they keep this up with the other 3, I will be very happy when it all comes together.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-12-2015 05:09 PM

Just finished. What a brilliant show.

"Marked out" at the final 10-15 mins. Obviously difficult to compare to all other MCU projects due to the shift in tone, but it may well be the best thing they've put out so far.

Fignuts 04-12-2015 05:31 PM

Are all the netflix series supposed to come out before Civil War?

Would make sense, as they'll want to have as many heroes as possible for that movie. Not to mention, the street level heroes who work outside of the government would have to be the reason for the registration act, one would imagine.

Kalyx triaD 04-12-2015 06:36 PM

A few little teases have me very excited to see Iron Fist.

Innovator 04-12-2015 08:35 PM

Just finished, tremendous

Shadow 04-13-2015 04:44 PM

For Iron Fist we've had Steel Serpent, Crane Mother, and the Hand. I'm pretty sure this is gonna rock.

Destor 04-13-2015 08:41 PM

Outside of the closing scene being the token superhero shot i think this show was perfect

Fignuts 04-13-2015 09:14 PM

Only part I didn't care for

SPOILER: show
The whole opera song over all the criminals getting caught was a pretty cliched and made me cringe a little bit, but it was still kind of cool and didn't ruin anything at all.

Kalyx triaD 04-13-2015 09:40 PM

Token hero shots are mandatory.

dronepool 04-14-2015 12:45 AM

This show actually gives Nolans BATMAN trilogy a run for its money.

GD 04-14-2015 01:54 AM

Jesus dronepool.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-14-2015 02:48 AM

Damn. Posted a big response to that on my phone but my Internet cut out.

In short, dronepool's statement isn't all that ridiculous. Other than the scale between the two, there's not too much a difference in quality, especially since Dark Knight Rises is a bit of a mess and drags the trilogy down as a whole, and Nolan is a bit shit at fight scenes, which DD excelled at.

But then I prefer a handful of Marvel's films over even Batman Begins and Dark Knight. I also genuinely enjoy Adam West era Batman over anything else DC has ever done so whatever.

dronepool 04-14-2015 02:49 AM

^ Yes, they're pretty equal.

Dark Knight Rises was meh, not bad- but not all great.

All 13 hours or so were good or great.

The fight scenes were better

The cinematography was great

The story was great

The build up was great

It's on the same level as Batman Begins/TDK

GD 04-14-2015 03:10 AM

It's a pretty solid series. I am trying to enjoy it for what it is and not compare it to other superhero works.

@dronepool should've compared it to "The Flash"...jk...jk

GD 04-14-2015 06:44 AM

You know what? I take it back, dronepool. I saw a few more episodes and have concluded that this show is definitely comparable to The Dark Knight series.

GD 04-14-2015 06:47 AM

I have been amazed by the character ever since I picked up "Daredevil and the Marvel Knights" when I was younger. I am so happy with what they have done.

Kalyx triaD 04-14-2015 03:43 PM

It hits a lot of the same notes as the Nolan series while not 'chasing the tone' like Arrow S1 did (if that makes sense).

Lock Jaw 04-14-2015 05:59 PM

Just finished the series. Great showing from everybody involved.

Look forward to the rest of the Netflix series now. Especially Iron Fist, which I think had the most "teases" in this....

Look forward to a season two if they decide to do it.

Lock Jaw 04-14-2015 06:05 PM

Probably be like three or four years until they do a season 2 if they do it, though..... :'(

Corporate CockSnogger 04-14-2015 06:14 PM

Are the other Defenders shows gonna be as dark as DD? Can't wait for Tennant as Purple Man.

dronepool 04-15-2015 02:49 AM

Did anybody notice the "Christian Bale" stairway move?

Kalyx triaD 04-15-2015 05:39 AM

No triumphant lunatic scream, though.

McLegend 04-15-2015 06:16 AM

He does a Christian Bale like voice though. I really noticed it in episode 2 or 3. I'm half way through The Stick episode.

Very good so far.

Nark Order 04-15-2015 10:20 AM

Did anybody else think Vincent D' Onofrio was doing his best Paul Giamatti impression at certain points?

Lock Jaw 04-15-2015 10:35 AM

Dunno... but whatever he was doing, I loved it.

Liked how he would go from this softspoken dude who looked like he never quite knew what to do with his hands, to murderous outbursts of rage.

Shadow 04-15-2015 12:45 PM

Episode 4's beat down was excessive.

Rammsteinmad 04-15-2015 05:47 PM

I would love to see a Punisher series in a similar tone to this.

Thought this exact same thing while watching.

Maybe we'll get a "phase 2" of marvel knights shows, after the current batch. Punisher and MoonKnight would both be good.

GD 04-15-2015 10:41 PM

Done with the first season. I have never enjoyed a superhero show so much.

Rammsteinmad 04-16-2015 05:07 AM

Wow what a rush. Just finished the last episode. Took me two three days. Absolutely loved it. Had a huge smile on my face during the last episode when "Daredevil" finally appeared. Everyone was played brilliantly. I loved all the hints and references to the MCU and the comics, especially when they were referring to that Greek girl Matt was dating in high school. :y:

I'm excited to see where they go next with these Marvel Knights-based series, and I can't wait to get another Daredevil season. Will be awesome to see if/how all of these series (Daredevil, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D) and any others, will tie into the main MCU, and if they'll all be involved for Civil War/Infinity War.

McLegend 04-18-2015 10:28 AM

The Devil horns are a bit much.

Everything was really well done. I think Wilson Fisk was the best character.

McLegend 04-18-2015 10:33 AM

The Priest was also really good. Story about the Devil was really deep.

Innovator 04-18-2015 12:57 PM

Yeah I loved how deep the character of Fisk was

loopydate 04-18-2015 02:55 PM

Finished this last night. Pretty much perfect. Feels like the "Mad Men" of superhero shows, where in any given episode maybe it doesn't feel like all that much "happened," but then when the endgame starts, you realize it's all been building to this. Spectacular show.

Optimus Bone 69 04-18-2015 08:35 PM

never liked DD and was made to watch this........Amazing
