Here you go Steele, now you can not feel conflicted cranking it to Triple H

How can you morons not make a thread about this and discuss it at length? This is a fucking wrestling forum! This video requires more attention instead of being lost in obscurity in that god awful thread that nobody remembers. For the love of baby Jesus, make new threads for shit that is actually interesting and worthwhile. Isn't that the whole bleeping point of a fucking wrestling forum?

Feel free to post your opinions

Shisen Kopf 03-17-2015 07:54 AM

I watched that video last night. High five!

road doggy dogg 03-17-2015 08:23 AM

looks really dumB based on thumbnail + 4 seconds of it that I watched about some nerd "shooting" on HHH

GD 03-17-2015 08:33 AM

It is better than your "piece of shit" verbal vomit of a thread in the casual forum. Your penis is small

road doggy dogg 03-17-2015 08:36 AM

You seem awfully defensive about a video about some nerd complaining about Triple H. What is your relation to him

XL 03-17-2015 08:41 AM

That was pretty amazing. If they did a series where they explained all wrestling characters like this I'd be pretty into it. The Kane/Undertaker one would be great.

I missed most of the cameos. Kazarian, Daniels, Cabana, Morrison all went unnoticed to me.

I didn't watch at first because it looked "dumb", but it really is great.

I like to have strong opinions on things that I don't spend enough time on...like your microscopic penis. Now that's a homerun for the brown man

road doggy dogg 03-17-2015 08:45 AM

My penis is huge from playing so much N64 and drinking Mountain Dew

GD 03-17-2015 08:48 AM

That's a compelling argument.

If they kept the same format, a Hogan one would be really good.

Jordan 03-17-2015 06:56 PM

That was truly great, and an eye opening perspective of Triple H's career.

"Triple H is a great character in fiction. Told over two decades. A snob who had a chip on his shoulder he could never let go and just wanted to be the best, but never could be that without cheating. Finally selling out to the point of, if he can't be the champion he'll choose the champion".

#1-norm-fan 03-17-2015 09:19 PM

Just watched. Fucking incredible.

Droford 03-17-2015 09:32 PM

I'm confused

Vince has tried to do away with the term wrestling his whole life and people complain about how bad it's gotten not focusing on the actual wrestling and it should still be about the wrestling. This guy's case for wrestling being great is because of everything but the wrestling and people think it's awesome and hilarious.

My head hurts

I noticed Cabana, and Hero (but wasn't sure it was him), caught JoMo and somehow missed other dude was Joey Ryan. Totally missed Bad Influence AND Cryme Tyme the first few times I saw this, and thought Chyna was Angel (wrong vampire from the wrong show, was on the right track though). And I somehow missed the Shockmaster reference til just now.

Yes, I'm ashamed.

The scene was great too. The montage over that quote of everyone around him over time was incredible.

Its one of those thing where this guy is clearly taking a piss, but out of love. Like Team Four Star with DBZ Abridged.

And yeah, this should be a thing with other wrestlers. Hell, he could actually start with Flair, from this video's introduction of him to explain him "being awesome". Perfect segue.

"YER MAH BEST FRIEEEEENNNNND...!!!"

HHH is where he is today only because he surrounded himself with people better than he is and married Stephanie.

Also, wrestling isn't wrestling, it is storytelling first and wrestling is just something they do in between.

I think he just discovered that it "isn't real" and wants to let everyone know. I honestly didn't find it as "OMFG THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!" as people make it out to be.

I think they didn't do enough with Triple H and Daniel Bryan. If the point of it was to point out Triple H is Daniel Bryan (a B+ Player) there was little payout.

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-18-2015 01:52 PM

This feels like it could have been done as a blogpost essay but because the guy has a famous father (John Landis) so he can get famous people to be in his vid.

The first two lines are a perfect synopsis of the vid.

That last part? I didn't get that at all. I got the feeling of a guy who likes wrestling, still has after all these years, even though he KNOWS it "isn't real", and here's why he doesn't give a fuck and still watches, even though he gets looked at funny by non-fan casual masses.

On the surface, it sounds like he's shitting all over Hunter... but he started the video saying this was his favorite character. And why would you bother the effort in casting Circe Lannister simply to justify that GoT line at the start, or get former WCW champion David Arquette to ask "the stinging question", or even throw in a Shockmaster joke (which I'm still sad to say I had originally missed after x ammount of times watching this) if he hated wrestling or suddenly got smarten'd up yesterday?

He took what little kayfabe is left and strung that into beautiful summary of Hunter's WWE onscreen career.

And projects like this have a turnaround time, which is likely why the stuff with DB and HHH is so short... it likely had kinda just happened and throwing in other stuff like The Shield would have taken away from the story being about Triple H.

Seriously, I hope he does more in a similar style.

Jordan 03-18-2015 04:32 PM

I don't think this is a work to over over analyzed. The message is on the surface.

The piss was being taken. Clearly someone that takes the time and effort to do something like this is a fan with knowledge of how "things work".

#1-norm-fan 03-18-2015 06:37 PM

It's a very well made video that uses hot chicks to re-enact the story of Triple H's character from blue blood to now in more of a general entertainment setting without the wrestling. It also makes a lot of links from one part of his character to the next seem more thought out than they were and makes it seem like there was all an elaborate plan 20 years ago , which is kinda cool.

Wishbone 03-19-2015 02:14 AM

That little bit with Corporate Triple H holding up the "You're the Best" heart from HBK almost brought a tear to my eye. :'( I really wanna see one of those done for every major wrestler now. One on Undertaker would be astounding. Hell, one on Kane and trying to explain his ups and downs would be downright hysterical.

loopydate 03-19-2015 12:20 PM

That was my thought when I saw this. "Kane would be phenomenal"

Dukelorange 03-19-2015 01:18 PM

This was a pretty good take. I don't think it was supposed to be taken THAT seriously. It's a fan saying why he's a fan. Everybody has a different reason of why they are. It came off as a college project.

Look at it as visual/media art. You don't have to like it, but try to appreciate it.

"YUOR THE BEST!"

Subtleties are abound, like the parody of the "Higher Brain Pattern/My Time" era HHH entrance (not the song with the champange popping) and the back of the jacket says "I'M THE BEST SO FUCK YOU!" only to be met with the chorus of boos and escalated jeering. It was basically a throwaway musical cue, but still got the point across.

Kane would be ASTRONOMICAL! Doesn't even need to cover Isaac Yankem, D.D.S. or anything other than his WWE lore as Kane.

Maluco 03-19-2015 08:19 PM

Its great, its a real fan explaining why he loves wrestling and using the Triple H character to show how massive a story it is capable of telling.

Loved it

Ol Dirty Dastard 03-19-2015 09:10 PM

Yeah, I think he was honestly just nerding out and having fun over how silly and fantastical wrestling can be if you just try and enjoy it.

Dukelorange 03-20-2015 10:30 AM

It's a catch 22 Tho... We want to enjoy it, but we can't because it's not a good as we think it could be. It may be because we want to see something new, or perhaps we don't like the fact that the show is PG and consider WWE a sell out.

I think the majority of us would like to see better storylines and meaningful matches across the board.

Corndad 03-21-2015 12:39 AM

I enjoyed the heck out of that.

Asmo 03-21-2015 03:26 AM

I enjoyed it. I thought it did a great job of communicating why fans connect with 'wrestling'. The final argument at the end is one that all of us here make while defending this 'sport' or 'theatrical artistic combat' that we love.

He could have chosen any other character to make up the meat and potatoes of the video, but the core message, or flavour wouldn't change.

Simple Fan 03-21-2015 10:14 PM

WWE apparently upset with this and told talents not to comment on it publicly.

#1-norm-fan 03-21-2015 10:25 PM

Makes sense. They wouldn't allow audience members to dress up like wrestlers. I can see how a silly, fun video explaining why wrestling is great would trigger Vince's "uptight shithead"-ness.

Tom Guycott 03-22-2015 12:22 AM

Thank you... "uptight shithead-ness" is now in my actual vocabulary and a new learned word in my tablet!

#1-norm-fan 03-22-2015 02:30 AM

Maybe it should be "shitheadED-ness". I don't know.

Fignuts 03-22-2015 03:01 AM

Well WWE isn't wrestling anymore, remember? They do everything they can to be recognized as some multimedia conglomerate, and not as a wrestling promotion.

Despite the fact that 90% of their entertainment is wrestling.

Too late to change shithead-ness now. It auto finishes!

The basement-dwelling neckbeard smark in me wonders what various people in the industry think about it. For example, if i had to guess based on nothing (which is exactly what I am going to do), Hunter seems like he'd be upset about it on heresay, but then, after actually watching the vid, getting laugh out of it. Chyna, on the other hand, being cast as a somewhat effeminate man would likely be some kind of rage trigger in spite of just about everyone in the storyline being gender bent. Except Steph and Vince. Like, who thinks Shawn pole dancing was hilarious? Who thought the bit with Ric Flair barging in the hotel room chugging a bottle of Jack was disrespectful? Suckas gots ta know!*

*Suckas don't really gots ta know. Just be a decent bit of trivia. I just wanted to throw that Stevie Ray bit in on a whim, so there was an excuse to do so.

Which is a great reason why we can't get the WWE or TNA to be the promotions that they can be. The divas movement trended on Twitter for almost a week. WWE had to respond. Imagine what the IWC could do if we did the same thing. Instead, we only talk about guys we want pushed.

The diva thing showed me that if we just focus on the general aspect of story lines, character development, and quality matches as a whole IWC, the pushes of our favorite wrestlers should take care of itself.

Volare 03-23-2015 11:27 AM

Yeah, keeping their attention is the other key. Flashes in the pan won't always work.
