Deadpool

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Do we know who the villain is yet?

Cause that description kinda suggests Weapon X, I guess.

Kalyx triaD 03-27-2015 04:03 PM

No talks about the villain yet.

Dr. Killbrew with the Taskmaster as a bodyguard would be good.

Seems the CGI test concept is getting adapted for the movie.

Look at the eyes. Guess what's getting CGIed on that mask.

Kalyx triaD 04-06-2015 09:52 PM

They're gonna emote the white eyes. They're use Ryan's actual eye motions and use the mocap balls to replicate and enhance them.

That might be as influential as Tim Burton's 'magic eye shadow mask' thing in Batman. I always wanted somebody to do the white eyes thing seriously.

JimmyMess 04-06-2015 09:53 PM

that looks badass

Rammsteinmad 04-07-2015 11:33 AM

Fucking sick! Now why couldn't they have given us that in X-Men Origins?

Kalyx triaD 04-07-2015 12:02 PM

He wouldn't have fit in that movie anyway.

I'm so much more excited for this than I thought I'd be. BvS gave me a strong feeling of "Meh. That's pretty much exactly what I was expecting."

Reavant 07-15-2015 07:26 PM

hes supposed to be deadpools weapons dealer

Fignuts 07-15-2015 07:41 PM

Still hoping for Taskmaster.

Or would he be locked down by Marvel Studios? He did start out as an Avengers villain, but he's been all over the place the last 10 years.

Kalyx triaD 07-15-2015 07:49 PM

Yeah first appearances do tend to take priority in these deals.

Then again Wolverine first appeared in a Hulk comic and became an X-Men character afterwards. If association makes some kind of exception, then that's how Taskmaster could appear at least as a sequel villain.

But seriously; Bruce Willis/Cable. Now.

Miotch 07-16-2015 04:39 PM

I thought FOX had rights to the mutant offshoot and Marvel basically had everything else, except for Spiderman, until now?

Marvel doesn't have Fantastic Four either at this point. Think Namor the Sub-Mariner's rights are still up in the air too. Outside that I'm pretty sure Marvel has everything back now.

Kalyx triaD 07-16-2015 06:08 PM

Namor is tricky. The first 'classified' mutant, and yet the king of an entire sub-race. Closely linked to FF with his obsession with Sue Storm. Where he ends up will require omission of parts of his history, like the twins.

Remember the original Human Torch was seen in The First Avenger as an easter egg, which may or may not confirm some form of an Invaders team which Namor was part of. Although, it seems in the MCU the Avengers were the first attempt of putting special people together.

Tricky.

Mr3Maker 08-02-2015 12:54 AM

Deadpool will be resurrected within Marvel Comics around October....lots of new stories coming from the Chimichanga truck....

Yeah last I heard Universal had rights of some description involving Namor, but it's not as simple as them owning the rights entirely. Gotta love contracts.

Kalyx triaD 12-25-2015 12:03 PM

Saying "stole" was a joke... Also, nah, the X-Men films have been alright, but not great. First Class was pretty damn good, and Days of Future Past was "passable", but neither was "great". Apocalypse might fix that, but I'm not holding my breath. Been burned too many times by that franchise to give them any sort of benefit of the doubt.

To be fair that's basically Deadpool in a nutshell. Not bashing you for not liking it by the way. Deadpool's certainly not for everyone, but this film pretty much embodies the Deadpool comics 100%. I don't think they'll have any problem at all pulling in an audience. After all Deadpool seems to be the favorite comic book character of everyone between the ages of 12 and 26 who has male reproductive parts these days.

Kalyx triaD 12-26-2015 06:34 PM

The Room was bad. The X-Men movies were great. I like three of the four Bayformers movies, but also have great love for Alien and 2001. I like MiB 1. And MiB 2. Heroes S4 was good. So was X-Files S3. None of the Walking Dead seasons did me wrong. The '90 Living Dead remake was pitch perfect.

I know it's really hard to understand this kind of nuance, and it seems like I have no standards of judgement at all, but I do. Person who does/doesn't like this thing, says nothing about the rest of his tastes.

I wanted to give an extended reply to that because there's this thing online where people wanna draw a line in the sane for things like this without really knowing who they're talking to. And far too often are dismissal tactics tossed in ("He thinks those X-Men movies were great? Pfft, he probably likes The Room then, his thoughts don't matter").

Don't be that guy.

I'm not dissing you for liking the films, I'm just saying don't call them great when they're not. You can like something while still admitting it's not great or even good for that matter. For example I like a lot of the generic pop music that plays on the radio today. Doesn't mean that I can't say it's still garbage music. I also sometimes like to have McDonald's, but I'd never say that McDonald's food was actually good. I just happen to like some shitty things sometimes. :p

Wishbone 12-26-2015 08:27 PM

And to clarify I don't think the X-Men movies are bad... Well, I don't think the two newest ones are bad anyway. They're just not great films. First Class was pretty good, and Days of Future Past was decent enough. I don't know I guess I just don't like throwing around words like "great" so easily.

Kalyx triaD 12-26-2015 09:18 PM

I think they're great.

You can't fault people for reading it that. What other reason would have to assume I'd like far worse movies like The Room, even in jest? And many things said in jest...

Wow, you people take yourselves waaaay to seriously over here in the off topic forums. Learn to take a joke, and learn not to take stuff so personally. I mean damn.

Kalyx triaD 12-27-2015 03:03 PM

In my experience people who assert that I'm taking something serious/personal are almost always themselves totally in their feelings about things.

Holy shit just got back! This film is awesome! If you love the comics you will definitely enjoy it.

No nitpicking here. Only real complaint is that the movie seemed to rush by so quickly. Was amazing and fun and incredibly loyal to the comics.

SPOILER: show
Loads of Wolverine references, as well as MCU references that are quite fun. And lots of quips like "this was my finest moment" whilst showing the X-Men Origins Deadpool figure and the "studio can't afford any other X-Men" line were brilliant.

Once again, Marvel has a winner on their hands, and if Deadpool wasn't already popular, this film will certainly do for him what the Iron Man movie did for that character.

Optimus Bone 69 02-13-2016 02:46 PM

McLegend 02-14-2016 01:38 PM

I knew it would be good, but I didn't think it would be this. I didn't expect it to be such a great love story.

I think Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin give Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow a run at best couple in a superhero movie.

Rammsteinmad 02-14-2016 02:19 PM

75 thousand votes on IMDB have it at 8.7... I'd say this film is another smash for Marvel. :y:

Emperor Smeat 02-14-2016 03:54 PM

Supposedly the film already broke a few records from the early screening and release day estimates.

Quote:

20th Century Fox’s Deadpool set the record for an R-rated Thursday preview and February preview last night with an evening gross of $12.7M at 2,975 theaters. In the record books that beats the $8.6M made by last year’s Fifty Shades of Grey, which was the previous February preview champ. That Universal title sat behind the previous R-rated preview record holder, Hangover 2, which made $10.4M from midnight shows in 2011.
http://i.imgur.com/jM56kgJ.png

ClockShot 02-14-2016 08:50 PM

Ended up pulling in $135 million. Broke the record for an r-rated movie opening weekend.

Marvel should venture into "R" territory more often. Maybe get Blade and The Punisher going again.
