Deadpool
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FyKWUTwSYAs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/...2394966158.gif |
Do we know who the villain is yet?
Cause that description kinda suggests Weapon X, I guess. |
No talks about the villain yet.
Hope to god it's not T-ray
Awful. |
Dr. Killbrew with the Taskmaster as a bodyguard would be good.

This is great.
Not sure if I'm a fan of the voice, though. |

Seems the CGI test concept is getting adapted for the movie. |

Look at the eyes. Guess what's getting CGIed on that mask. |
They're gonna emote the white eyes. They're use Ryan's actual eye motions and use the mocap balls to replicate and enhance them.
That might be as influential as Tim Burton's 'magic eye shadow mask' thing in Batman. I always wanted somebody to do the white eyes thing seriously. |
that looks badass
Fucking sick! Now why couldn't they have given us that in X-Men Origins?
He wouldn't have fit in that movie anyway.

They don't need to animate the eyes during action sequences.
Director kinda sorta confirms Deadpool is within the X-Men movie-verse.
Leaked Deadpool trailer from comic con, warning for shitty quality:

Don't know if he's going to be the main villain, but I think he's in the movie. |
I'm so much more excited for this than I thought I'd be. BvS gave me a strong feeling of "Meh. That's pretty much exactly what I was expecting."
This made my pants tighter. |

hes supposed to be deadpools weapons dealer
Still hoping for Taskmaster.
Or would he be locked down by Marvel Studios? He did start out as an Avengers villain, but he's been all over the place the last 10 years. |
Yeah first appearances do tend to take priority in these deals.
Then again Wolverine first appeared in a Hulk comic and became an X-Men character afterwards. If association makes some kind of exception, then that's how Taskmaster could appear at least as a sequel villain. But seriously; Bruce Willis/Cable. Now. |
I thought FOX had rights to the mutant offshoot and Marvel basically had everything else, except for Spiderman, until now?

Namor is tricky. The first 'classified' mutant, and yet the king of an entire sub-race. Closely linked to FF with his obsession with Sue Storm. Where he ends up will require omission of parts of his history, like the twins.
Remember the original Human Torch was seen in The First Avenger as an easter egg, which may or may not confirm some form of an Invaders team which Namor was part of. Although, it seems in the MCU the Avengers were the first attempt of putting special people together. Tricky. |
Deadpool will be resurrected within Marvel Comics around October....lots of new stories coming from the Chimichanga truck....

Mr. Fantastic stretches. As in every part of his body. Sorry Namor, you lose.

Ha ha... Enjoyed that.... Look forward to the trailer...
Deadpool seems intresting but it's never going to be as popular as Batman, Superman, X-Men, and other mainstream stuff. Seems like Deadpool will be a niche market to internet nerds, haha.

X GON GIVE IT TO YA
Could be good maybe
Looks promising. Hope it's good. Unlike Green Lantern, this seems like a great for Ryan Reynolds.
Btw, speaking of Green Lantern, lol at the jab taken on his way to the operating room.

colossus in deadpool. I'm sold
Ohhhh I'm gonna touch myself tonight now.
Looks good
He looks like the pack of hamburger nobody buys until it goes on sale.
He looks like what would happen if Ryan Reynolds mom fucked a sharpei
what
Movie wont do well. deadpool isn't mainstream like other superhero movies and they also made a mistake by having Reynolds as the main character. he was green lantern and so it just makes things look stupid.
Sound logic.
He looks what a pink crayon would look like after contracting aids.
He looks like shit colored play doh left out to dry in the sun.

Fucking yes. |
Man, I know nothing about Deadpool, but I really want to see this film.
I can't be the only one thinking he totally looks like Nick Nolte when he's all hideous.
How the hell can Fox get Deadpool so right but the X-Men and Fantastic Four so wrong? Damn it, Fox, you just proved that you have the ability to do great things so quit pussyfooting around with the other comic characters you stole from Marvel! >:O
Not steal, legally purchased. And their X-Men movies have been great lately. FF not so much.
Looks great
This film looks so fucking brilliant!
Worried that it will "eschew plot" in favour of "crude"/"low-brow humour"....
Right now looks good, though.... Who is the chick in the trailer? The one with Deadpool and Colossus? |
Nevermind.... google had the answers.... some really "obscure" character named "Negasonic Teenage Warhead"....
Looks fine. Don't think I'll love it though. Seems to be going out it's way too much on the whole "not like any other superhero film" when it's exactly like another superhero film just filled with dick jokes.

The Room was bad. The X-Men movies were great. I like three of the four Bayformers movies, but also have great love for Alien and 2001. I like MiB 1. And MiB 2. Heroes S4 was good. So was X-Files S3. None of the Walking Dead seasons did me wrong. The '90 Living Dead remake was pitch perfect.
I know it's really hard to understand this kind of nuance, and it seems like I have no standards of judgement at all, but I do. Person who does/doesn't like this thing, says nothing about the rest of his tastes. I wanted to give an extended reply to that because there's this thing online where people wanna draw a line in the sane for things like this without really knowing who they're talking to. And far too often are dismissal tactics tossed in ("He thinks those X-Men movies were great? Pfft, he probably likes The Room then, his thoughts don't matter"). Don't be that guy. kthxbye |
So they ARE tying this into X-Men Origins? Thats him coming out of the wreckage of the silo from the end right?

And to clarify I don't think the X-Men movies are bad... Well, I don't think the two newest ones are bad anyway. They're just not great films. First Class was pretty good, and Days of Future Past was decent enough. I don't know I guess I just don't like throwing around words like "great" so easily.
I think they're great.
The only ones that were meh to me were Origins and The Last Stand. |

In my experience people who assert that I'm taking something serious/personal are almost always themselves totally in their feelings about things.
I promise you I am chill as fuck over here. A million times I have to say me writing a lil paragraph is not the 'Serious Business' my tag advertises. Go to the Star Wars thread to see what me going in looks like. |

Hoping this is amazing, but also hoping they dont just add fuck to every sentence for the sake of it
Holy shit just got back! This film is awesome! If you love the comics you will definitely enjoy it.
No nitpicking here. Only real complaint is that the movie seemed to rush by so quickly. Was amazing and fun and incredibly loyal to the comics. SPOILER: show Once again, Marvel has a winner on their hands, and if Deadpool wasn't already popular, this film will certainly do for him what the Iron Man movie did for that character. |
really tempted to go catch this tonight
Do you think this will be 5/7?
going to see it tomorrow afternoon after work, never read the comics and I've seen all the Marvel movies and enjoyed them, but this is the first I made a point to go and see in theaters (instead of going to see one when there is nothing else to go see).....
This movie is fucking incredible. Haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a very very long time.
Amazing film, loved the is it McAvoy or Stewart line
I knew it would be good, but I didn't think it would be this. I didn't expect it to be such a great love story.
I think Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin give Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow a run at best couple in a superhero movie. |
75 thousand votes on IMDB have it at 8.7... I'd say this film is another smash for Marvel. :y:
Supposedly the film already broke a few records from the early screening and release day estimates.
Quote:
Ended up pulling in $135 million. Broke the record for an r-rated movie opening weekend.
Marvel should venture into "R" territory more often. Maybe get Blade and The Punisher going again. |
R-rated Avengers film: let's do this!
fucking nice
I always wondered why they didn't make these Rated R. Adds so much more
SPOILER: show |
