Anyone know will this Suicide Squad movie be tied in to Batman vs. Superman?

I'm convinced this film is going to tank based on that picture alone, I don't think I'd even heard of it before now but it looks so bad that I've been put off seeing it regardless.

No. And now that I think about we've yet to get any real confirmation that this is DCcU. It's just kind of implied with that big movie slate dump months ago. Suicide Squad and Shazam, to my knowledge, aren't confirmed to be taking place in the same universe as Man of Steel, BvS, WW, Flash, Aqua Man, and JL.

Unless I forgot some comment from a studio head.

It's the same universe. Ben Affleck and Jessie Eisenherg are heavily rumored to be appearing in the movie as Batman and Lex Luthor.

Good job they tattooed "damaged" on his forehead. I'd have hated for audiences to not know his mental state. Good call DC.

I'm meh on the tattoos, but face wise I love the look. It's inevitable that Leto will be compared to Ledger at some point, and this is a good start to trying to create a disconnect between the two takes. Kinda like Ledger's look against Nicholson's.

I'll wait till more photos and of course the film comes out.

The biggest gripe I have with this is the mouth lips arent red enough so he just looks like some goth kid and there is no drawn on smile its amazing how much extending makeup past the mouth turns a persons grin into this ridiculously uncanny valley looking horror. Leto is just dude in dark lipstick

Yeah this is unfortunately the right attitude to take for now. The Nicholson, Ledger, and now Leto Jokers all have to have different takes on the character. The Ledger Joker wasn't busting into rooms comically dancing to "Party Man" and shouldn't really be directly compared to Nicholson's. Same will go for this one.

That being said, I have yet to hear one opinion strongly positive about this look. Kinda surprised they put only this character up for exhibition. Usually they wait as long as possible before showing off the big bad for a movie like this.

Unless he isn't the big bad.

Naturally I'd guess he'll be a wild card in the way of the plot's main mission, tied to his past relationship with Harley. I'm betting her connection to him, like the Suicide Squad animated movie, will be cause for some... complications.

True, but while he may not be the big bad, he and maybe Hatley Quinn are the two most anticipated looks. Maybe this is a way to get everyone to stop only talking about Joker and try to get them to move on to other characters.

To be fair, a lot of those comments are ridiculous. Obviously nobody learned anything when everybody slated Heath Ledger to be the Joker last time around.

I don't mind the look of the Joker here, I'm just not interested generally in the movie itself. Another DC movie using the same characters we've already seen (Joker) which will probably be dark and gloomy. Yep.

I'm betting you don't even know who most of the suicide squad is or what they do.

I'd rather be serious than having one liners and endless quiping (talking to you age of ultron) all over the place

But Since Harley Joker and Capt boomerang are in there will be some humor albeit dark humor


On another note I know the Part is cast but I wouldve lost it if they actually got CCH Pounder to be Waller they wouldve had to get rid of my smile with surgery.

If I remember right, people had issues with Heath Ledger as an actor (gay cowboy and whatnot), not the look of his Joker. Here, most people don't doubt Jared Leto can act, they just think that first photo of him as Joker is fucking awful.

Killer Croc and Harley Quinn both look really good. I've been wanting Killer Croc in a live-action film for a while. When Tom Hardy was rumored for TDKR I was kind of hoping he would play Croc, who in a Nolan Batworld I just assumed would be a guy who tatted his entire body like a crocodile.

Alright...I'm overloaded on this movie already and it doesn't even come out for a decade. Wondering why they're blowing their load on all the "fun" stuff so early in the process. Seems like the right thing to do is to keep people guessing on what their favorite characters look like and time releases like this at a point when everyone isn't going to see The Avengers.

To me, the thing that seems "off" about any of it is that for as much as they are differentiating Movieverse and TV 'verse, Captain Boomerang looks almost exactly the same in both.

The real problem with Deadshot is not what the mask looks like, but how long does he actually wear it. I mean, they hired a famous actor so I'm guessing he'll get the Dredd Stallone treatment.

I will reserve judgement until i see a trailer but right now this is a pass for me. Hopefully a trailers sells it for me.

Seeing more Batman in this than the movie he's actually starring in.

My hopes are low but hopefully it exceeds expectations.

I'm really hoping Batmans involvement will be similar to how Assault on Arkham played out where he crosses paths with the Squad but is mainly in the background.

As the world's biggest Harley Quinn and Joker fanboy, and a big fan of Suicide Squad as well I can thoroughly state that these designs are garbage. Yes, I'm giving final judgement based on set picture, and, no, I don't care how good the acting is. This movie looks aesthetically awful. Like Batman and Robin awful. That is my honest opinion. What, wanna fight about it?

Actually, no, I've seen probably like 5 Arrow episodes and never seen animated Suicide Squad. And you make it sound like I have something against Will Smith, which I don't. Deadshot just seems to be getting the Stallone Dredd treatment (yes, I'm repeating myself) to me. Even if he doesn't always wear the maskin other media, I think, judging by the trailer at least, he's not wearing it enough here. And that actually makes sense because when you cast big names like Smith you probably want to show their mug as much as possible. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Batman's in it but he's pretty much a background character. He shows up a couple times to fuck with the Suicide Squad's mission and that's really about it. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't, man. It's not the best DC animated movie, but it's an awesome ride.

The trailer has been officially released due to the leaks, and seems to be getting "mad" positive reviews across the world.

That Margot Robbie girl seems to be doing a helluva job, judging by the trailer.

I could deal with the tats if they kept his face clean. But as always, not overly tied to any incarnation, and this looks like it could decent.

I will say, I love that this film looks nothing like BvS.

That trailer literally did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do. Instead of getting me hyped it literally caused my hype levels to retreat into the negatives. In fact it was so bad that it took away some of the hype I had for other movies that are coming up. Well, at least now I can officially wash my hands of any and all DC live action movies going forward. At least until the next inevitable reboot in 10 to 15 years...

Not interested in critical reception. Plenty of people liked Man of Steel and it was completely underwhelming in my eyes. I can already tell that I won't like this movie simply from the trailer.

The costumes are god awful to the point that I couldn't stand even looking at Joker. Oh, and that laugh... That lazy, lazy laugh... And what they've done to Harley... (shudders) I can't even begin to tell you how painful that was for one of the world's biggest Harley fans. She was basically all the bad things about New 52 Harley without any of the good.

And I know it's a small gripe but I'm not gonna hold back on it because you know what it matters. Harley has to have the accent. You take away the accent and you've failed, period. Even if they'd gotten everything else right that one detail would have killed it. I know it's petty of me, but I don't care. Fuck whoever decided not to do it. If Chaning Tatum can take lessons to get Gambit's thick Cajun accent right this chick can learn to do Harley's.

The few lines spoken here were also just... bad. It's possible they just chose the worst lines in the movie to display here, but if that's the case then whoever made the trailer needs to learn how to do trailers right because normally you choose good lines for a trailer to help lure people in. And if those were what pass for "good" lines in this movie then the script is likely going to be awful.

Anyway after seeing both of the DC trailers now I can wholeheartedly say that I am not only unimpressed, but I'm damn near offended honestly. I know mainstream media and fans are going to love this movie, and, hell, I'm not gonna blame them. People should enjoy what they want, and honestly as a DC fan (or maybe I should say former fan with the state of the movies and comics right now...) I want to like this. I just can't. I hate everything about it. In my honest opinion it looks like garbage of the highest (lowest?) caliber. In short, DC and Warner Brothers can suck a bag of dicks. Well, except their animation department and Bruce Tim... Those are good people for bringing us the Killing Joke animated movie.

You're right that the accent seems like such a minor thing for Harley, but I've heard the character use it in animated form for so long that even when I read comics I instinctivly read her dialogue with the accent. So to hear her without it does feel somewhat off.

And yeah, new 52 Harley sucks

Given the "Rotten" tattoo next to her mouth I'm not sure I'd want to risk sticking my Wish"Boner" in there.
