Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Just announced that Martin Freeman will be in this. His specific role hasn't been confirmed yet.

I think William Hurt was rumored to return as General Ross, which may in turn confirm Hulk.

Charlie Cox also expressed interest in appearing. Give Charlie Cox what he wants.

Winter Soldier is probably my favourite superhero movie not directed by Christopher Nolan so I'm pretty excited for this. I'm glad the Russo bros are back too.

Charlie Cox appearing in this would be great, and would make sense.

Should probably have just called this movie Marvel's Civil War.

Feel like it could be a "good movie", but it has no chance of being a "good Captain America movie". If you know what I mean....

A lot of shit went down during the Civil War.

Unless this is gonna be a 4+ hour epic or split into a few parts, I don't know how Marvel is gonna pull this off.

They don't have to adapt the story 100%.

Much like how Winter Soldier was not the same as the comic book Winter Soldier storyline.

Or how Age of Ultron was nothing like the comic book storyline (aside from having Ultron).

Same way they pulled off the other stories; condense and focus on the most important threads. Cap and Stark got beef. Niggas chose a side. A big bad is in the background. Somebody's gonna lose hard. I won't mind the fat they'll have to trim.

Infinity War deserves two parts because fuck that.

Yeah, but a lot of Civil War was a bit unnecessary fluff. The focus on the two reporters, Wolverine chasing down whats his face....removing those items, and focusing just on Iron Man and Cap's main pages could fit into a 2 hour flick.

Random speculation from myself about that plot.

Captain America and Tony Stark aren't fighting each other because of the super hero registration act... They are fighting each other because Stark wants to kill The Winter Solider because the Winter Solider killed his Father, and Captain America obviously does not want Stark to kill the Winter Solider.

Concept art of Stark's Civil War armor was leaked. Like the pic above it is certainly Bleeding Edge with shades of Mk.V from IM2. Can't link it yet, on my phone. Looks nice.

I assumed they'd be fighting over what kicked off in AOU. Instead of a Registration Act, it's this world-wide protection program that they can't agree on. Cap already had issues with how SHIELD is doing things in Winter Soldier, and we all saw what happened with Ultron. Can't remember the quote but when he was on about "this isn't protection, this is fear" or something along those lines.

The idea of Iron Man trying to kill Winter Soldier seems a bit naff to be honest. Considering that Stark was responsible for a fucking robot that killed countless people/destroyed a city... seems a bit lame to suddenly base an epic movie like Civil War on a case of "you killed my Dad, now I kill you". Especially if it'll involve other MCU characters who probably have no stakes in it whatsoever.

There is some shit going down in AOS right now that might have a bearing on the whys as well. Shield is currently "cataloging" any superhumans they come across and apparently the leader of the MU Inhumans has decided to go to war with Shield.

Won't have anything to do with this I'm afraid as that'll all be resolved by next week and/or the beginning of next season.

I'm really intrigued at what they've got planned for this. As this isn't a movie to burn out RDJ's contract and will be the last one Chris Evans does until Avenger's 3. Martin Freeman's addition is interesting as they haven't told us what character he's playing. Some people want him to be Wong for the Doctor Strange link but I dunno. We'll have to see.

Lol would kinda love it if they went a bit mental and gave Martin Freeman over-the-top Asian stereotype makeup, clothing and accent just to have him be Cumbertbatches sidekick again.

Cast has been officially announced for Cap 3. General Ross is back, Ant Man is involved and pretty much all the Avengers seem to be in it. No word on who Freeman is playing.

Skimmed through it. Doesn't seem too unrealistic, although some of it does seem pretty obvious if look at events in Civil War and look at where the MCU is headed.

I'm thinking this will be the 'Empire' of the MCU. The Avengers and likely superheroes in general will be left in a really drab state. And Ragnarok will probably be similarly dire, leaving Thanos to colossally troll literally everybody involved.

Don't have too much faith in this not being overcrowded....

I've had that concern about the MCU in general for a while. Age of Ultron definitely had issues with being quite overcrowded, so it's likely to continue as things get bigger. I mean, I'll still enjoy the films, but there'll just be some underlying concerns. I think some of the stand alone films will still be very good, but I don't think the multiple character films will reach the standard of The Avengers.

I want as many characters as possible.

The Avengers will likely be the pinnacle of Marvel films. Also feel like quite a bit of their solo efforts are good but rather forgettable. Iron Man, Winter Soldier and Guardians stand out as their best solo acts, but the rest seem meh to me.

At some point, they're going to hit a wall. Maybe it was Ultron. Maybe a film to follow. Who knows.

Also feel like the lack of truly threatening, iconic villain also takes away from the franchises.

I'm not trying to shit on Marvel, here. Just thinking maybe their films are going to start to take a bit of a bit quality wise with the ever growing universe they're still adding to.

I think with them introducing more heroes though, they'll still knock out good solo films like Dr Strange and Black Panther. I'm expecting Civil War to be huge, but hopefully most of the guest cast are just simply guests and they don't try to cram too many plots into the one film.

The other thing that's a bit frustrating is that there's hardly going to be any surprises to the film considering every single scene they shoot ends up getting posted on the Internet, but that's more a general fault with Hollywood in general right now. Imagine going into this film not knowing Crossbones was going to be in it and seeing it for the first time in the film itself, rather than these pictures from the past week.

A more egregious example would be somebody spilling the Hydra twist of Winter Soldier. Overall Marvel does a good job hiding the really important stuff. And the kind of person who wouldn't know Crossbones would return, are also the type that don't frequent the sites we do.

I shit you not people in the theater were shocked by Winter Soldier turning out to be Bucky. It was kind of refreshing to know a bulk of the movie goers are actually being introduced to this stuff. Only we are jaded.

Best thing to do is just stay out of these threads.

To be fair, these movies being so overcrowded is just about the most faithful to the comics thing there is.

We got the Hulkbuster Armor in Age of Ultron. I can't wait for Civil War to see the cinematic debut of Iron Man's Huge Dickhead Armor.

The helmet looks a little strange to me in those photos. It's a mask normally, yeah? Not overly worried about it though.

I think it looks alright. Guess they'll add some CGI or something, cause the eyeholes are showing his umm eyes and a bit of his face, too. Dunno.

Major fail on my end. Especially since on multiple viewings I have in fact seen that Iron Man vs War Machine fan film before. The blurriness, convincing edit, and sharing after a single viewing caused me to jump the gun as well as making sure I could get it here before it would be taken down (had it been real). With future movies I will better scrutinize 'leaked' trailers especially in the click-bait era of media.

While I don't drop news as often as I used to I have built something of a standard years ago in regard to this, and have gotten potentially lazy either not sharing news I see or not vetting well enough the source of certain rumors. While I will still speculate on rumors on here time to time, I have to double my standards on what will be certain for games and movies, and make a better effort in noting what I'm speculating on vs hard info (on top of catching fake news/media).

Footage of Civil War was indeed at D23 that's for sure. be on a look out. As for this case I'm sorry and it won't happen again. I know seeing a thread updated on a much anticipated movie can be exciting and become a major buzzkill after something turns out fake. I'm sorry. Never again. I can do better.
