Destination America picks up Ring Of Honor starting 6/3
|
Would be thrilled with this news if I got Destination America
|
I'll watch if Lethal is a cog in their wheel
|
Lethal is pretty much their #1 heel, current TV champion.
|
RoH just suplexed TNA in the balls
that makes sense |
1. Gina is sexy....
2. TNA is up the creek without... Anything.... 3. ROH needs to expand the roster if they want to really get going... Adding in something to set them apart would work. |
I am glad I still have dest America, but if they could not handle tna what will they do with roh
|
Wasn't TNA moved to Wednesday?
|
Maybe Destination America just wants to become a wrestling station :-\
|
So will I not be getting ROH anymore on the station I have been?

Lol not only did TNA get cheated on, they also have to share their home with the mistress.
|
hopefully DA only advertises ROH as "The 'Top Brand' in wrestling"
|
#LOLROH
|
lol TNA is so fucked.
|
This was not something I had expected.
The drama sure is delicious though. Currently feasting on MVP's tweets. |
tazs podcast is up
|
Can't wait until they merge. Total Nonstop Honor. All workrate all the time!

Fink: Ladies and gentleman, I have just been informed that the episodes Anybody Thrilla watches will be re-broadcasted for anybody without Sinclair. Sinclair will air the episodes on the weekend and they will be put on Wednesday Nights on Destination America! If you have both Sinclair and Destination America you can do ROH a favor and watch both broadcasts for ratings even though they will be the same. |
So TNA totally got burned............big time.
While the Destination America team is with TNA to help close out, they were busy behind the scenes pouring gasoline and lighting a match. Always been interested in Ring of Honor. Let's hope it lives up to the hype on TV. |
So fucking confused on this whole situation.
So... the rumors of TNA being cancelled haven't actually been confirmed, right? And ROH is going to be the lead-in to TNA. If anything, this seems to be a sign that TNA HASN'T been cancelled. It would be silly of them to cancel it so quickly just to add a less popular wrestling show to the schedule. So why is this such bad news for TNA? What have I missed over the past week or so? |
ROH is decent, I saw a few episodes when they were wrapping up the SCUM storyline.

TNA's slot is/was going to be 9-11 correct?
|
Yeah. ROH will be on at 8 and TNA at 9.
|
I stand corrected. Do more people watch television at 8-9 rather than 10-11? Seems like ROH would get the shitty time slot.
|
Looks like they might be trying to compete with WWE with a 3 hour block? Or are they just having TNA boost ROH for a short time before dropping TNA? They don't even have to do any of the production costs of ROH since its going to be a re-broadcast.
|
MVP just tweeted his booking information.
|
Unless they suddenly drop the other network, ROH is going to be on two networks where I live (NESN and DA).
Wonder how much TNA regrets having Dixie in charge. Kept pissing off the network with the constant ratings arguing and then pulled a "Russo" with being unable to send an email correctly. Even when DA were happy with ratings, she kept arguing saying their numbers were wrong. |

Is MVP Shisen? |

Maybe he is.
|
Apparently ROH will be moving their PPVs to Fridays so that both the Saturday airing and the Wednesday Destination American airing are out of the way before a PPV.

Seems cool I guess, innovative from a TV channel stand point to have two different wrestling companys on your channel. ROH comes on the FOX affiliate on the weekends here, they have one Saturday and replay it Sunday at midnight. I get DA to so will probably watch it when it airs on it.
Someone give Jeff Jarrett DA number. |
Nah GFW seems like they'd have to give too much revenue to produce a television show. They are being handed a show to put on their station.
|
Is Roh any better than TNA?
|
Apparently nobody at TNA was even aware of Destination America being in talks with ROH assuming its not another case of TNA management hiding info from staff and wrestler again.

At no time was TNA talent (that I'm aware of) notified of ROH airing on @DestAmerica . I'll refrain from commenting until after "the call".
— MVP (@The305MVP) May 27, 2015
Probably the biggest sign Destination America got ROH solely to replace TNA in a few months came from their press release which made no mentions of TNA at all. Now that I'm not sitting in a waiting room:
There's definitely something fishy about this and/or the news over the past week or so about TNA. Wasn't one of the primary "reasons" for Destination America--at least as far as the DIRT SHEETZ go--canceling TNA due to advertisers not wanting anything to do with a wrestling product? Even if that isn't the case, it seems very strange to double down on wrestling when they obviously haven't been a big fan of the way TNA has performed lately. I get that RoH is a "different" product, but would TV executives really pick up on that? |
Destination America to pick up Raw rebroadcasts 6/2/2015

ROH is pretty much just average wrestling. |
Quote:
Also been speculated the ROH likely is way cheaper for DA since Sinclair probably is handling all the real costs so even with low ad money and/or ratings, it won't be as big of a drain that TNA is. |
This sitch does kinda have the smell of "We'll replace ECW with WWE" about it. If they go balls out promoting ROH, we'll see how accurate that comparison is.
|
I really enjoyed the first night War of the Worlds up in philly. Probably the best 3 hours of wrestling Ive seen live. Not sure how much of the credit goes to ROH for that though.
Also, I fucking demand a Briscoes reality show show on their farm since I live like 15 minutes away. They have to do it..it's the most fucking obvious thing ever. |
I like that ROH is staying the same and not changing anything. This might get TNA to step up their game considering they will be following a solid hour of wrestling. TNA management is so bad though, I don't see anything good coming.
I can just imagine how mad Dixie is after the ROH announcement, can TNA opt out of thier deal, because i can see Dixie doing somthing like that. |
The cross over appeal between Jay Briscoe and Swamp Monsters is tremendous

TNA seems like they lack focus and rip off WWE a lot.
|
They have the same problem as WWE when it comes to the inability to consistently push guys to become stars. WWE can survive that issue for the time being though because they already have big stars. TNA doesn't have that luxury.
|
TNA has done an exceptional job with EC3. They had a chance with Magnus but kinda screwed up with him. They have a good young crop of talent that if pushed and presented the right way could be stars. Hope they stay on DA and maybe even work out a deal with ROH to do a few supershows with one another on DA.

I know. I agree. I was elaborating on it.
|
Supposedly TNA could have blocked Destination America from getting ROH or any wrestling shows while TNA was around had the company Dixie hired to get a new tv deal included the clause.
UTA (company hired by Dixie) didn't think it was necessary for TNA to have a special clause while saw no problem with Destination America having an opt out clause since its very common in tv deals. UTA and TNA probably didn't think Destination America would actually use it since the deal was very short. |
Was going to set it to record but it still says to be announced
|
Quote:
Also, ruining the good thing they built with Samoa Joe in the early days of the company by not continuing to book him as a force and giving him the WWE "monster, jobber, monster, jobber, monster, jobber" treatment didn't help. |
Yeah its a shame Joe didn't have more runs with the heavyweight title. Its going to be funny if Joe gets to do ROH tapings on DA.

If we are to believe Heyman to be true and that ECW never would have folded if they were able to negotiate with other networks, than you can pretty much kiss TNA goodbye. Here's the problem. No major network is going to negotiate with a company that got put on the chopping block by their previous suitor. If the network feels they will loose revenue or heck even break even on the investment, they won't commit. If Destination America is indeed cancelling TNA due to what their "leaked" statement says, TNA is history. Their only shot at getting back on TV is on a low budget network/local station. Not like I really care about TNA anyway. |
I thought the whole rumours with them cancelling TNA was something about their advertisers not wanting anything to do with wrestling? So why would they add more wrestling?
|
TNA managed to end up on a general Do Not Advertise list that ad sponsors like to use. Supposedly TNA either doesn't have sponsors on their own like the WWE or whatever they were paying wasn't enough to offset what DA was losing.
Going to assume ROH is bringing whatever sponsors are associated with Sinclair for their spot on the network to cover any possible ad losses. Quote:

Brilliant move by DA really. It's a low risk, high reward for them. If they can keep TNA's audience and get them to watch ROH instead, then great. If not, they cut ties without having to worry about losing whatever they invested in TNA. Win win for them and a great venue for future exposure for ROH.
Time to pack it in TNA. Bring back Angle. |
This is really interesting. This move definitely helps ROH, but it could also potentially help TNA. A lot of TNA talent would do really well in a ROH crossover scenario; but I'm not sure the same can be said for a lot of TNA talent.
|
DA is playing with house money here....
I remember when I was younger that I would watch two hours of wrestling on Saturdays. WCW went on first and then WWE. They could be trying to,do the same thing, but better... Even HHH said three hours of RAW is over kill. One hour of ROH followed by two hours of TNA looks a little more palatable. |

Prob just a matter of time before we see #HABM on Destination America.

Wait, I'm hearing now that TNA may stay on Friday and ROH will be on Wednesday. It doesn't matter because I'll be watching NXT anyway. |
According to the TPWW.net front page it was officially announced TNA will be done with DA on the last week of September.
|
It is sad that a lot of people working for TNA will lose their jobs. Is weekly television exposure necessary for wrestlers in this day and age?
|
If only there was another wrestling program on DA they could go to.
|
ROH's production quality isn't as good as TNA. The casual fan might consider it as a step down for the wrestlers.
Remember how things went when that Canadian dude got drafted to ECW? He didn't even show up to the title match. I mean, what was he thinking? |
I can remember when ROH was on HDnet
|
If TNA folds, between ROH, GFW and, yes, even NXT, there are plenty of places for them stateside to find work and expand their skills. Probably even make more money. And that's not even counting Japan, Lucha Underground (filmed in the USA, yes), Mexico, England and other places.
|
Somebody think of the production crew
|
Quote:

Hope this prompts ROH into filming in some bigger venues. Not WWE big but at least when they film try to do it in a decent looking arena, Feel like ROH could draw bigger arenas.
|
Is anyone who doesn't get ROH on syndication going to be watching on Destination America ? I have it recorded from this weekend but might wait to watch it Wednesday. NXT, ROH, and TNA all on one night. Wresting Wednesday.
|
I don't get it on the weekends so I'll be watching, probably the replay though

So I could watch NXT at 8, TNA at 9, and then ROH at 11. Actually might watch ROH at 8 since I could just fire up NXT as soon as I get bored of TNA. |
