Heroes of the Storm
 

Is anyone out there playing HotS? It is a very casual MOBA but has a nice variety of maps and heroes. Plus who does not want to play your favorite Blizzard pixels and have epic battle clashes.

One thing from my playing is it seems very balanced so far. There are some lame characters that are weaker than the rest but there is not 3 or 4 stand out heroes that just dominates like LoL has (Or well did have when I use to play).

If you have not given this game a shot I would recommend it.

Is it ONLY other humans to play against? I dislike that d-.-b

Is it still in Beta? I played a bit of it during Alpha. It's definitely much less stressful than Dota 2.

You can play against the computers. You may play against the computer on different difficulty too in custom matches if you prefer. You have the option to play against the computer with humans or with other computer players.

It officially released on the 2nd. I played it during Open Beta. Hit rank 19 but have went back to doing quick matches because they are enjoyable. Really dislike how people can do Hero League with a full team. That should only be for Team League. Hero League should be solo or queue with 1 friend IMO.

Heck ya it was fun. I do have Skype but I tend to only use it when my girlfriend is not around (All weekdays until late when she gets home from work). Basically, anytime before 10:00pm central time we can Skype it up.

I find it easier to coordinate that way, though I must admit I really like the ping system HotS uses. Makes it very easy to see when someone wants to hit an objective etc. I didn't feel very lost at all

though I do like the voice chat stuff just bc I have no self-awareness at all when I play sometimes so it's nice to have someone barking orders when I am picking daisies

When they say "Difficulty: Easy/Medium/etc" are they talking about the how hard it is to effectively use the character? Such a fucking noob at this whole MOBA thing.

Ya, I had a like month period where I was addicted. Don't play as much/quit playing ranked games awhile ago. Also helps Steam is having their sale.

Easy/Medium/etc refers to how hard the hero is to use effectively.

Really helps that the games typically only go 20 to 25 minutes.

I have zero characters purchased so far, but just have 4k gold too. Saving for someone but unsure who yet. So far, I tend to like the ranged assassin classes, though Kerrigan is fucking sweet too.

I only have I think 3 or so unlocked from my time playing Alpha. I have like 14k gold or something but no idea what hero(es) I would like to spend it on

Definitely not playing healers, fuck those guys.

Illidan is soooo much fun to play. Anub and Jaina is great too.

I haven't tired Illidan yet. Have a buddy who plays Azmodan pretty regularly and he seems quite fun.

I honestly have played Muradin the most. Very simple hero to play but so effective. All those stuns.

Love Muradin too. He was the first hero I used and bought. Healer wise I enjoy Uther and Rhegar the most. Uther is a stun machine. Guess he is more CC then healing but hes awesome.

Man, that 1st game we had was fucking tits. We had what.... 6% core and then we won somehow :D

I tried both DOTA and LOL and did not care for either. This one is much more fun.

I played a Quick Match after Ruien went offline and didn't do so hot. I died 3 times relatively quickly (~5 minutes in) and this one guy on my team was getting a little agitated. At one point he asked me "Nova why aren't you attacking", probably because I had the one talent that makes my autoattack 3x slower. I ended the game leading our team in Hero damage, kills, XP contribution, and had the least deaths, but it was definitely a rocky start. (we lost the game btw)

Yeah can't wait until we all get on. Will be super fun times!!!

Dota and LOL have a really annoying "startup" time in each game. The laning phase, which is basically the first ~10 minutes of every game, is like a mini feeling out process. Feels totally unnecessary.

Honestly though the most annoying thing is, after one team takes a rax, you have a fairly good idea whether they can easily win the game at that point, but you have to wait another 30 minutes to see it unfold. So fucking annoying.

We dominated earlier today. Illidan is so much fun in quick matches. He just eats everyone.

I love Nova so much. I might buy Illidan too, didn't realize he was only 4k

That final game we played was badsass. Stoke their boss for a come from behind win. What made it better even was Dave being like, they are there in full force! Before we went in.

Haha, yea. Whole team was there and it resulted in a Quad Kill before they fell.

every guide I read for Nova is all, "Take Rewind because being able to do your rotation 2x is OP!" which I kind of agree with, but being able to do 2x Precision Shot is ldshglsdgh;dghs so good

It took 3-4 heroes to effectively take me down last game. It was kinda funny because I cold sense their frustration. As we progressed, I was immediately targeted every encounter, hehe.

Same here. Also the whole 50 treasure goblin thing and getting to level 70 in Diablo 3 means a free mount. Can't wait.

Cho'Gall is hilariously fun to play. I was playing with a friend but we weren't on Skype or anything so it was a little messy, but you just launch spells constantly, it's amazing

I can't believe they made a hero that can be controlled by two different people. It's hilarious that it works.

I haven't kept up with the "eSports" scene of HotS so I don't know how competitively viable he is, but he's definitely a blast to play in Quick Matches
