2015-16 Fall TV Thread

OK boys and girls. It's that time of year again.

Fall TV is just around the corner. This here is the thread where we discuss the upcoming fall shows that we're try out, keep watching, or just flat out give up. This also doubles as the scorecard where shows get cancelled. And we place bets on what gets cancelled first.

Not much has caught my attention in terms of new. Willing to give Blindspot and Minority Report a try. But other than that, it's the usual shows. NCIS, Blacklist, Criminal Minds, and Arrow.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand GO!

Lock Jaw 08-29-2015 06:00 PM

Probably give Blindspot a try. Will also naturally be watching Supergirl, of course.

Don't really know of any other "new shows"....

screech 08-29-2015 07:33 PM

Gonna check out Minority Report. Don't know what Blindspot is. Gonna check out Grandfathered, too. Big Josh Peck fan.

I'll keep on Gotham, Agents of shield, and The Goldbergs for sure. Possibly Black-ish, that ended up being pretty funny about halfway through the season.

Lock Jaw 08-29-2015 07:36 PM

Don't really know too much about Blindspot either... just saw a commercial about it the other day and it is from the Arrow/Flash dudes and stars the chick who played Sif from the Thor movies.... that is enough to get me to check it out... maybe...

Lock Jaw 08-29-2015 07:45 PM

Oh yeah, will also most definitely watch The Muppets...

screech 08-29-2015 08:05 PM

That's enough for me to watch the pilot

And fuck yeah, Muppets

Droford 08-29-2015 08:49 PM

Muppets
Limitless
CSI finale movie (Grissom is back!)
Fargo (Bruce Campbell is playing Ronald Reagan?!?)
Man in the High Castle (on Amazon )

Lock Jaw 08-29-2015 09:06 PM

Returning Shows I will Watch:

Gotham
Better Call Saul
Arrow
The Flash
iZombie
Agents of SHIELD/Agent Carter
Once Upon a Time
The Walking Dead
Modern Family
Big Bang Theory
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

ClockShot 08-29-2015 09:09 PM

Bastard Executioner. Hoping Kurt Sutter hits another home run.

Lock Jaw 08-29-2015 09:10 PM

Will also check out the Netflix release of Jessica Jones.

I also think that Fox is making a Lucifer tv show based on the comic book series. I never read the series, and Fox is just going to cancel it anyways, but I will probably check it out because I am a terrible person.

Juan 08-29-2015 09:53 PM

Blunt Talk

Lock Jaw 08-29-2015 10:13 PM

Just googled that... might have to check that out now... don't get that channel, though.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-30-2015 12:01 AM

New Shows:

-Ash Vs. The Evil Dead.
-The Muppets.

Old Returning:
-Undateable
-New Girl
-Mindy Project (whenever it comes back on Hulu)
-Agents of SHIELD.
-BBT (kinda hate it though)
-The League (final season)

Not sure if there is anything else worth seeing.

While the show interests me, I have to give a "well, shit" that it means we're probably NOT getting a Lady Sif ep of SHIELD.

Speaking of SHIELD, anyone hear if we're getting more Agent Carter during winter break, or something else?

Lock Jaw 08-31-2015 02:52 PM

More Agent Carter, set in Hollywood or something this time.

Bobholly138 09-01-2015 08:34 AM

Returning shows.

The Middle
The Goldbergs
Walking Dead
The Flash

So far nothing new has caught my attention.

Jura 09-01-2015 04:24 PM

Jessica Jones, Blindspot, Ash look good. Anyone seen Sense8 yet? There's one new show that I'll be sure to watch and that's "Into The Badlands".

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5KyHy4KRvIc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It has that whole post-apocalypse wasteland feel mixed with the 1800s southern plantantion slave Django stuff and finally you throw in a Journey to the West element.

Jura 09-02-2015 12:12 AM

Also, there's something I've noticed in the shows nowadays and I'm gonna call it the "Game of Thrones/The Walking Dead effect" in which almost any one of the main characters could be killed off. To be honest I don't like it in other shows. They use a plot device to be able to introduce new characters and it makes things fresh and different but some characters you've become attached to and don't want them gone.

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-02-2015 04:49 AM

I blame Lost.

See pretty much every soap opera ever.

Z Nation seemed laughable at first but it never took itself too seriously and became a decent show to watch. It's obviously no TWD but I'll be watching the second season.

ClockShot 09-16-2015 05:23 PM

Not really digging Bastard Executioner. Quite the challenge getting through the 2 hour pilot. I'll probably give it another chance, but this is looking like a bust for Kurt Sutter.

Tammy 09-16-2015 05:50 PM

When does The Voice start? I am ready to help choose American's next big star.

Lock Jaw 09-22-2015 02:39 AM

Enjoyed the first episode of Blindspot....

ClockShot 09-22-2015 01:38 PM

Blindspot was cool. Will probably keep watching it. Even if it is a blatant copy & paste of The Blacklist.

Lock Jaw 09-22-2015 01:42 PM

Never watched The Blacklist, so I am ok with it.

ClockShot 09-22-2015 06:49 PM

Get to work, Lock Jaw. You can probably run through the first 2 seasons on Netflix before the season 3 starts up next Thursday.

My brother was watching it and said it was pretty cool so I decided to flip it over and see what it was about and cought a gay sex scene and fliped it.

Felt the same way about Z Nation but really like the show. Kinda fell in to the zombie shows a little late but I like them. I've seen all of Z Nation so far just don't feel like spending the time to watch what I haven't of The Walking Dead.

Sixx 09-24-2015 05:26 PM

Sutter keeps casting his wife in everything.

You can bet your ass she'll be singing in whatever that new show is soon.

Droford 09-24-2015 06:16 PM

The woman in blinds pot reminded me of a mix of Jason Bourne and Jack Bauer. Liked the 1st episode but I don't know if it can keep going on the same level as the pilot.

Limitless on dvr..

Muppets was funny but I'm not sure I like the adult take on them.

ClockShot 09-25-2015 07:34 AM

Gonna try Minority Report tonight.

Blonde Moment 09-25-2015 07:40 AM

Scream Queens got my attention. Pretty funny.

ClockShot 10-16-2015 05:25 PM

Scorecard update:

Syfy:
Cancels Dominion and Defiance

ABC:
Cancels Rookie Blue after 6 seasons
Gives Fresh off the Boat a full 22 episodes this season
Gives Quantico a full season

FOX:
Cuts Minority Report's season from 13 episodes to 10
Renews Bob's Burgers for another 2 seasons
Gives Rosewood a full 22 episodes

CBS:
Cancels Extant after 2 seasons
Renews Zoo for season 2

NBC:
Gives Blindspot a full 22 episodes

CW:
Cancels America's Next Top Model after 22 seasons
Cancels Beauty & the Beast. Season 4 will be it's last

Jura 10-17-2015 10:52 PM

The Player is decent but I have a feeling it's gonna be canceled either this season or next.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-17-2015 10:59 PM

Does Defiance end on a cliff-hanger to anybody who watched?

screech 10-18-2015 12:18 AM

I love Fresh Off the Boat. Need to catch up on Minority Report and Quantico. Still haven't watched Blindspot.

Jura 10-18-2015 12:20 AM

I'm hooked on Quantico. It seems like anyone could be the bad guy.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-18-2015 01:31 AM

How if any way does Hulu effect ratings? Do they get ratings if something is watched within a time frame?

Jura 10-18-2015 03:24 PM

If you're talking about Nielsen ratings then any internet related or DVR stuff do not affect those ratings. They choose certain homes and give them a device that tracks what they watch. They've tried to include DVR into it but some advertisers resisted but you can still see ratings with DVR info included.

Discovery cancels Mythbusters after 14 seasons.

parkmania 10-21-2015 07:49 PM

I guess they've busted every myth out there.

ClockShot 10-21-2015 09:55 PM

I was reading they did like 2,950 experiments or something close to that number.

But the end was near when they got rid of the 3 assistants.

Jura 10-21-2015 11:27 PM

Also new episodes came out erratically.

Jura 10-22-2015 07:23 PM

The Mythbusters always had an amazing secret weapon: They can't stand each other

Droford 10-23-2015 03:03 AM

I wanted a wrestling Mythbusters episode but I guess not happening

Jura 10-23-2015 02:22 PM

What would the myth be?

Sort of, but for the most part it was ended with a sense of closure. They closed off a bunch of plots they had going on, but opened up a whole new big one. The ending works as a series ending rather than just a season ending in some ways, but they left it open enough that they could carry on if they didn't get cancelled.

ClockShot 10-24-2015 02:24 PM

NBC cut The Player's episode order from 13 episodes down to 9.

Sullivan Stapleton ended up getting the better show out of the Strike Back crew. Sorry, Stonebridge :'(

ClockShot 10-25-2015 08:33 AM

CBS gives a full season to Limitless.

ABC cuts Blood & Oil's episodes to 10.

On today's episode of Mythbuster, is pro wrestling real?

Lock Jaw 11-04-2015 01:10 AM

Preacher trailer doesn't really "hook me"..... I never read the comics, but I know it is "supposed to be good", so I will probably check out the show in any case.....

Sixx 11-04-2015 06:01 AM

Hate their choice for Tulip. Sooo miscast.

Cassidy looks pretty good. Needs his shades, though.

ClockShot 11-14-2015 08:19 AM

Scorecard update:

ABC cancels Wicked City after 3 episodes.

The Muppets episode order gets bumped to 16.

The Walking Dead renewed for season 7.

Syfy's Z-Nation renewed for a 3rd season.

Blindspot, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Fire all renewed for new seasons.

American Horror Story gets picked up for a 6th season.

Lock Jaw 11-16-2015 12:06 AM

Enjoyed the Into the Badlands series premiere. I have added it to my series recordings.

I am considering removing Blindspot. Not a big fan of "cop shows". Thought the "twist" would make it good, but dunno... just not feeling it. Plus on last Monday's episode they would continually flash pictures of the victims every time they mentioned them and it was very annoying.

screech 11-16-2015 12:23 AM

Rats. Thought Wicked City was decent.

ClockShot 11-18-2015 01:58 PM

FX cancels Bastard Executioner.

ClockShot 11-30-2015 01:38 PM

CBS gives Supergirl a full season.

Lock Jaw 11-30-2015 01:46 PM

It's slowly been getting better, but still not "great".

ClockShot 12-10-2015 06:04 PM

HBO's The Leftovers gets renewed for a third and final season.

ClockShot 12-13-2015 09:58 PM

According to one of the co-stars, Mike & Molly got cancelled.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-13-2015 10:54 PM

I guess McCarthy must be too famous for the show now and they couldn't afford her. Was going to say too big instead....

ClockShot 12-16-2015 06:13 PM

NBC cancels Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-16-2015 06:45 PM

That show brought new meaning to excessive. Knew it was doomed.

ClockShot 12-23-2015 07:47 AM

The creator of Pretty Little Liars says season 7 will be it's last.

ClockShot 01-03-2016 12:23 PM

Cancel/Renewed update:

TNT axes Legends, Agent X, and Public Morals.

IFC cancels Benders after 1 season.

Syfy renews The Expanse for season 2.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-03-2016 12:33 PM

I have heard of none of these.

Tv networks do if STD hasn't head of them they get the Axe. Only seen Agent X out of the group and it wasn't that good.

Lock Jaw 01-03-2016 01:28 PM

Is The Expanse that one I keep seeing commercials for that are all "it's like Game of Thrones in space!!!!"

Correct.

I have no idea what to expect from Cooper Barett and Bordertown on FOX but im going to watch i guess

Droford 01-03-2016 10:47 PM

Prediction time

Bordertown will get canceled faster than the animated Napoleon Dynamite show (6 eps)

ClockShot 01-07-2016 09:30 PM

Season 7 of TNT's Rizzoli & Isles will be it's last.

screech 01-07-2016 11:10 PM

ClockShot 01-13-2016 09:06 PM

Kinda like a reboot. But you're right it was billed as a miniseries.

I gave "Superstore" from NBC a try last night and ended up watching all 5 available episodes on Hulu. I really liked it but it did have a fairly weak pilot...It got better/funnier. I hope it sticks around as I don't have any 30 minute comedies left since The Office ended.

It's not terrible but it's been done before. 10 items or less.

Schlomey 01-19-2016 10:50 AM

Didn't watch 10 Items Or Less so it's "new" to me and I love the idea because I fucking HATE Wal*Mart and love the "People of Wal*Mart" pix.

Watched the first episode of Lucifer on FOX.

Meh, wasn't impressed.

Lock Jaw 01-27-2016 01:03 AM

Just watched it.... thought it was ok.... has potential.... going to get canceled anyways, so whatever....

Schlomey 01-27-2016 11:57 AM

Did anyone else watch the 25 hour binge of Angie Tribeca on TBS? I didn't watch it live I DVRd the entire first season. I gotta say, I love it. It's so stupid it's funny...which is the point. What Naked Gun did to cop movies, Angie Tribeca does to the TV cop genre. It takes all the best and worst of shows like NCIS, Bones, Law & Order and makes them hilarious.

ClockShot 02-04-2016 09:33 PM

Been watching Grandfathered with Uncle Jessie and the fat kid from Drake n Josh. Honestly did not like it much at first but much like the main character, over time, he kinda charms ya. It's not a bad show and I'd kinda like to see where it goes if it sticks around.
