Yes, it's tonight. That 30-Minute Iron Woman match for the NXT Women's Championship could steal the show, but Sasha and Bayley will have to put a lot of effort into surpassing the bar set by their NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn match.

That's a fair complaint, I think, but most of the teams are random teams, which is kind of in the spirit of the Crockett Cup this seems to be based on, and the two "thrown together teams" are definitely superpower teams who beat mostly "new" teams.

Two really good matches. It's crazy how much better NXT "PPVs" are.

Guess the WWE decided against adding an extra 30 minutes if the Dusty Finals is on now.

Next show is still scheduled for 10:30. They may have a lot of time for this, and then between hype package, entrances, and promos, I would be stunned if Bayley/Sasha's overall portion is less than 45-50 minutes.

I wouldn't be shocked if it goes to overtime.

Seems a bit of an overkill for time but then again Dusty Finals could easily be a long match unlike the earlier ones.

Actually pretty nervous for these two. They've delivered in every opportunity they've had, Sasha in particular, but an Ironman match is a tough match to make engaging in the best of circumstances since the guaranteed time limit can make the first 75% of the match seem "not important" and they've got some expectations on their shoulders.

The Bayley's Super Fan Izzy stuff melts my cold dead heart.

That said, I can't wait for an UBER HEEL to beat the shit out of Bayley and celebrate in front of her.

Iron man match is a great opportunity to see lots of good moves like arm drag, arm bar, and, of course, the Moss Covered 3-Handled Family Credenza.

That counter combo by Sasha was great.

Good psychology with the hand.

Great match and ppv overall. Bayley beating the shit out of Sasha during the submission was a nice touch after all the times Sasha has done it to her.

I think I liked their last match better, and Sasha / Becky Lunch before that more, but I think a lot of that comes down to the inherent downsides and limitations of an Iron Man match.

It stole a lot of drama out of it, because you know there's not much of a chance Sasha's going to win and the clock count down with a tie situation really shows "Hey, she's not going to hold out"

I think if they would have gone to overtime and then done that spot, it would have been better.

Great closing segment though.

Just getting this started and I get to sit through an excellent tag match. Dawson and Wilder are fucking money.

Here's why NXT is so much better than the main product:

They're not afraid to do something different, and it's not overproduced yet it still has the high quality production value of the WWE machine. It's a wrestling show, not a show about wrestling. Raw/Smackdown are such high value, high visibility products that WWE will seemingly NEVER take a big risk with them and make a major change or take a big risk, and Kevin Dunn/whoever else are so focused on making everything shiny and glossy and flashy that you lose most of the substance.

NXT don't give a fuck. Like Asuka. It'll kick you in the teeth.

Probably could have cut down on the score a bit but was going to be hard to top the last match story and emotional wise regardless what was picked for this one.

Closest this match came was Sasha taunting Izzy and the ending of Bayley getting desperate to not have the match stopped in a tie with those kicks to Sasha's head.

Yeah, I mean, it's an important match to have for a variety of reasons. The Ironman stip also definitely makes sense from a storyline perspective and to underscore how talented the women are.

So, it's great from every perspective for the lead up, but the ironman stipulation has SO many downsides. It's a great stip for building up a match and a storyline, but the match itself just suffers from so many inherent drawbacks, especially now that the match has happened often enough for most of the "tricks" to be pretty commonly known. You lose all of drama of "IS THIS THE END?" because you have a timer, and the only way to get around that is by going to overtime, and that in turn makes the first 30, 60, whatever minutes feel irrelevant. This is compounded by having one of the competitors clearly being "promoted" off the show. It's just one of those stipulations that's an uphill slog.

I love the stipulation for what it means in a historical/event context and how it worked for the story, but I hate the stipulation for the match itself.

That said, they did the best they could do with the stip, and I'm happy they got the chance and that I got to see it.
