It sounds like "Stand Back," but if you listen closely you can here a "the" So, I don't know.

<font color=goldenrod>I asked about it in the Q&A on his site, he hasn't answered it yet.</font> :(
|
HE says "Stand Back."
He says it in an accent, but he does say Stand back. It is, however, in a fashion that sounds almost like "Stay in da back." |
it CLEARLY says "stand back"
|
he says stand stainda?
|
I just did it in slo-mo it is "stay in the back"
|
It's,
"Stand'ah Back!" |
It's "stand back." Like KK said, he just does it with an accent, so "stand" sort of sounds like "sta-yun-duh." I live in Alabama, and believe me, people with that sort of accent love to put extra syllables onto words.
His catchphrase (besides "whassupwitdat") has ALWAYS been "Stand Back." So why would it be different in the song? "Stay in the back" doesn't make any sense, either. When something dangerous is coming your way, people don't tell you to "stay in the back" unless there's a different room or something. |
"Stand back"

Definately Stand Back.

And again, listen to any of Hurricane's promos when he says it. He always, ALWAYS, says "Stand back," so again, why would his catchphrase be any different in the theme music? |

And I repeat, GO LISTEN TO HURRICANE'S PROMOS. He has never once, in his whole stay in WWE, said "stay in the back." They don't change around the Rock's or Booker T's catchphrases in their theme songs; having Hurricane say "stand back" in his promos and "stay in the back" in his theme song would be retarded. |

At how anoying it can be?

Yeah
And it's clearly 'Stand Back' |
Stand is just one Syllable not 3
|
Its his accent, which has been stated already
|
OMG its STAND BACK, get over it, move on, and let me get back to "sucking nuts."
Thank you. |
still I went down south before and I don't hear people saying stainda.
|
lol i cant believe you still think its 'stay in the back'
its two words, there is no way four words can fit into that time period. |
yeah there is a way if it is 4 syllables

Savior, you still haven't answered the main point of my argument. Hurricane does not ever EVER EVER say "Stay in the back" in his promos. Therefore, there would be absolutely no reason to change it around for his theme song. It's stupid and pointless.
And yes, "stand" is a one-syllable word, but like I've been saying, southern accents/ebonics accents stretch things out and add a certain twang to the words, making them sound like there's more than the one syllable. Like I said, listen to any two southern people talking to each other for more than 20 seconds, and you'll know exactly what I mean. |
"standa back" it sounds like to me. Is he spanish by any chance? :shifty:
|
Dam, I wanted Paul to be right on this, but oh well.
http://www.bgwwrestling.com/paperhurricanehelms.jpg |
Hes just really pronouncing the d at the end of the word to make his point. Im southern and when I say stand its 2 syllables.
|
it says "sand in iraq"

IT IS WITHOUT A DOUBT, "STAND BACK"
|
I don't care what he says, that music rules.
|
Liar. It's "fanned track."
(I'm done arguing, so I think I'll just screw around for a little while before this thread dies off) |
Uh...wtf. It's stand back. Clearly.
|
flange is slack
|
Spam and crack?
It's very clearly "Stand back." He's from North Carolina, and that sort of overemphasis on the letter "A" and the "da" are very common from that part of the country. It is "stand back," not "stay in the back." Well, actually it's "stainda back," but that means "stand back." |

Yeah. Who would've guessed that Shane Helms was such a perv?

OMG! I just realized The Hurricane's secret identity!

Im not getting in the argument... Maybe the best thing to do is to Email Hurricane from his site, shanehelms.com, and ask him WTF it is... :shifty:

Mama Mia!

It's-a me! Hooricane! So long-a, Bowsy!

I don't care what the majority says, I'm with Savior on this one, it's definitely "Stay in the back."
So what if he doesn't say it in his god damn interviews? Does Jericho always say "Break down the walls!" in his interviews? No. Does Benoit ever say "There's no holding me back" in his? No. Hell, HBK doesn't even refer to himself as a sexy boy anymore, and it's still in his music. The Hurricane may say "Stand back!" in his promos, but that's because he's talking to someone who's right in front of him, so he's telling them to stand back. Imagine how ridiculous it would be for him to say "Stay in the back" during a promo. Hurricane: Stay in the back, Coach! There's a hurricane comin' through! Coach: But... we ARE in the back, Hurricane. Hurricane: ....so we are. WHATS-UP-WIT-DAT?! I think his music's "Stay in the back!" refers to his opponents, who should stay backstage, as opposed to coming to the ring to get their ass kicked by the mother****in' Hurricane. |
Trust me, it's "stand." My entire family is from that part of the country, and they allllllllll say "cain't" instead of "can't" and "stained" instead of "stand." And what sounds like "the" is the soft "uh" that frequently comes between consonants in that dialect.
He's from North Carolina, people! It's his accent that's throwing you off. |
With all the fighting going on I think I will just have to go with Stand Back on this one.
|
And I suppose Rock's music starts with "If you see how the Rock is lookin'"?
|
Bran black?
I ran to track? Quote:
First, Michaels is going to stick with the same music, whether or not he still calls himself a sexy boy. It's been his music for over a decade, except during DX. You do you really think it's going to change now? Jericho's music was established before his character was really developed. They stuck with it. Benoit's music didn't have lyrics until crosspromotion. Half those songs have nothing to do with the wrestlers involved. :| Now, with Jericho and Michaels, the songs were tied to the gimmick. Chris had the WALLS OF JERICHO, and HBK's whole gimmick was the HEARTBREAK KID (Sexy Boy). Both work. The only example that doesn't is the one for a promotion. Hurricane DOES say "Stand Back" in his promos, and with the tendency to tie in their gimmicks to the music in some way, it makes no sense to continue hammering away that it's really "stay in the back!" Occam's razor, baby. It makes no sense to overrationalise what is very obviously a conflict of accents. |
Quote:
It's... If you can tell...That the rock's...Been hookin'. |
Do a google search for the lyrics to The Hurricane theme...every site I went to has "Stand Back, There's a Hurricane Coming Through."
Christ, "stay in the back" doesn't even make sense. http://www.allthelyrics.com/lyrics/w...the_hurricane/ http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/wweth...ehurricane.htm http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/cjangels/telyrics.html |
Anyway, this is just getting fu</>cking stupid now. Savior may have a couple of people who think it's stay in the back, but I don't think he's convinced anyone with a ny sense.
|
And some people wonder why the wrestling forum gets made fun of so much.
|
OK, Hurricane's theme just went off on SNH. IMO, he says "Stannnnnnnnnnnnnd Back", like he says "Stan" for a long time and then adds the "D', then says "Back". Thank you :)

Well, at least he's stuck with it. Sometimes common sense and regular human logic doesn't stand up to pure stubbornness.

Whatever. I'm not exactly sure why so many other posters hate you, but in this instance you're dead wrong. Even arguing isn't really an option. Because it's not a subjective opinion, it's a fact. I suppose your determination is admirable, but it doesn't change the fact that you sound like an idiot in this case. |
Savior, I have to commend you for sticking with a gimmick this long...
...tell me are you locked in the punch? |

Well, now that this thread has officially wound down to its conclusion, I'd like to thank a few people.
First of all, I'd like to thank my producer, my agent, and my production crew, I'd like to thank my publicist, who is a wonderful human being, I'd like to thank my lovely wife; we did it honey! And most of all, I'd like to thank Savior for making this all possible. Thank you and goodnight! ......my God, I'm bored. |
I FIGGERED IT OUT!!!!!
Ever watch wrestling (or any other program) close captioned? I've had to, due to deaf people watching with me. Close captioning is horrible, period, but it's even worse on live shows. Savior's DEAF! That's where he got this from! (or, he's one of the people who type up the captions). |
it's STAND BACK, it's on the hurricane shirt for christ's sake, open your eyes
note: I didn't read rest of thread |

I was proving the point that the argument that "because he never says 'Stay in the Back' it means the opening words can't be 'Stay in the Back'" is invalid. I then used Jericho, Benoit and Michaels as examples. I didn't say that their music is stupid because they don't say the words that are used in their music, I was merely proving that catchphrases have nothing to do with entrance music. |
Quote:
|
What about stevens I'll show you you'll see I believe he never said that in a promo.
|
Quote:
Why? Let's see... Jericho's theme says "Stopped and dropped by the Walls of Jericho." Guess what Chris' finisher is? The entire song has lyrics dealing with the Walls of Jericho. Shawn Michaels...Let's see...He's using the music that's associated with him. People still associate the Heartbreak Kid with "Sexy Boy." I don't know why. Benoit...The odd man out...And I've already explained why. The sad thing is that this is the same thing I mentioned last time. You were too thick to understand the first time, and construed my meaning as something completely different. I don't know why I'm bothering, since I doubt you'll be more likely to understand it a second time through. |

Stand back also fits with Hurricane's character. Stay in the Back does not. It's unlikely that Big Show ever said "Yes it's a big bad show tonight," But it fits in with his name. You're arguing something that doesn't make sense. |
Quote:
Does Hardcore's music even have lyrics? |
Quote:

I'm pretty sure "How do you like me now" was Holly's catchphrase when he had the "Big Shot" gimmick and was fueding with the Big Show a few years back.
|
Quote:
In fact, he used to follow it up with "I hate you...You're so fat." |
The point is...Savior is wrong.
|
My theory is the best
|
Both Stevie R and Hardcore Holly have used their "lyrics" as catchphrases. Of course, no one remembers Stevie saying "I'll show you! You'll see!" because he hasn't been on TV (other than getting stomped by H and Dave and his weekly Heat job) in, like, three years.
