There have been a few postings of Cole getting his fucking ass chewed by Vince for not mentioning the network enough when "Nine Ninety-Nine" was a weekly thing.

Is it because of the substance of the product today versus the action oriented product of the past?

I really like Mauro Ranallo (sp). When a commentator can call the action effectively, he can get fans more interested in the match itself, which can make the overall feel of a match (on tv) seem better overall.

Well it's kind of odd that he won't allow the product to kind of sell itself, he needs his commentators to always be (Curt) schilling. Vince was similar when he commentated though. He'd always be talking about something stupid and he never called moves by their names.

Saxton isn't the problem. He was quite good in NXT. The problem is the ear pieces telling the guy what to say.

Booker was crazy though. He said contradictory stuff all the time and offensive stuff more than once.

Saxton > Booker.

Agree that the commentators aren't bad, they're just forced to do shit. I'd like to see Michael Cole promoted off the commentary desk and into the full-time producer of the announce teams. The guy might actually be remembered as being more legendary if he steps away now. Saxton could probably be used somewhere else too -- maybe helping guys with promos or as a manager or something. The guy's got ring training and has also worked in creative, I think. Maybe move him off RAW and into a role as a heel color commentator with Rich Brennan on Main Event or something. Move Mauro over from SmackDown to work with JBL. Brennan or Tom Phillips can get the promotion back to SmackDown and King can rip into them.
