SmackDown Live preview, Aug. 16, 2016: The Lunatic Fringe and The Showoff journey to "Miz TV"

As they prepare to go to war at The Biggest Party of the Summer, WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose and his No. 1 Contender Dolph Ziggler will stand face-to-face with the A-Lister egging them on. What could possibly go wrong?

The last SmackDown Live before SummerSlam is going to be a scorcher.

WWE.com has learned that John Cena will be in action tonight, squaring off against longtime adversary Alberto Del Rio. In case you don't remember, Del Rio just so happens to be the guy who ended Cena's historic reign as United States Champion at WWE Hell in a Cell in October 2015.

To say there's some bad blood would be an understatement, and if Cena's not careful he could be walking into his SummerSlam bout against AJ Styles with a broken arm. Then again, will The Phenomenal One choose to wait for Sunday’s showdown with the leader of the Cenation? After all, Styles is one Superstar who enjoys taking any advantage he can get. Don't miss this classic confrontation tonight on USA Network.

First segment was amazing. Dolph is on fire right now.

American Alpha have clearly been positioned as the best tag team on SmackDown, which makes me think they won't be the inaugural SmackDown tag champs. I can see value in them chasing the belts for a bit before getting their moment.

The main problem with the Eva Marie angle, has hilarious and unique as it is now--if you run it too long, you run a very major risk of people just turning out or walking away when a women's segment is coming on, because you've trained them that nothing is going to happen.

Commercials are back to killing this show. Last couple of weeks weren't bad but if feels just like the first week when they just kill all the momentum of the show.
