Excited for this movie. Wish they had Groot full sized again..... Just say "he grows fast"...... don't need to be realistic to tree growth rates..........

Fignuts 10-20-2016 12:28 AM

Do you have any idea how much money they are going to make off baby groot merchandise?

Lock Jaw 10-20-2016 01:27 AM

5

Fignuts 10-20-2016 06:48 AM

Million

Kalyx triaD 10-20-2016 03:20 PM

The band album cover poster is just perfect.

RP 10-20-2016 06:19 PM

That poster is horrible. Very Emo

Kalyx triaD 10-20-2016 10:55 PM

Don't think emo means what you think it means.

Well holy crap this is gonna be incredible.

Touching upon what Lock Jaw and Fignuts said at the top of this thread, but Baby Groot is absolutely marketing genius. Marvel are gonna make so much money from that character.

Lock Jaw 12-03-2016 06:46 PM

Ha ha, looks so good

Lock Jaw 12-03-2016 06:52 PM

I read that this is the first Marvel film shot on the Red Weapon 8K..... colours seem more "vibrant" and "alive" in this trailer than in other Marvel movies...... or maybe just my imagination.......

Fignuts 12-03-2016 07:34 PM

Fucking fantastic.

slik 12-03-2016 09:55 PM

Awesome.

Can't wait!

Wishbone 12-04-2016 08:07 PM

That new trailer reminded me why Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite Marvel movie. Can't wait for this one!

Shadow 12-05-2016 03:44 PM

Gods this just gets better and better every time I see the trailer.

Crimson 12-05-2016 11:37 PM

I'll look forward to this. I'm a big fan of Guardians, it knocked my socks off and made me want to hug whoever it was that compiled the soundtrack.
I hope there's a bit more of that weird "collector" character that Benicio played. I'd like to know what's up with that guy.

Nobody been to see this yet? I'm going to see it tomorrow afternoon.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-29-2017 04:51 PM

I've not long got back from it. It's fantastic. Goofy, heartbreaking, touching, diverse, exciting etc etc. Pretty much the perfect extension of the first one, and of the MCU as a whole. Drax steals the show with all the laughs, with Baby Groot getting the best scenes.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-29-2017 07:36 PM

Oh and Ego was a legit villain. Really well done. One of Marvel's best.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-29-2017 07:39 PM

Personally much preferred the soundtrack of the first film though. Although ELO, Fleetwood Mac and Cat Stevens were standouts on this soundtrack.

Seemed to be a bit more effort to make al of the tracks diegetic this time round, although one seemed a little bit short-horned in. Still helped to accentuate a great scene tho.

Optimus Bone 69 04-29-2017 08:29 PM

Amazing just amazing

Lock Jaw 04-29-2017 08:31 PM

Did it come out a week earlier overseas or something?

Corporate CockSnogger 04-30-2017 05:11 AM

All Marvel films tend to come out in the UK a few days to a week before the US. Gotg 2 came out on Friday.

Juan 04-30-2017 11:10 AM

God damn commies

XL 04-30-2017 12:34 PM

Just got back. It was great. Had a high bar to meet following the surprise success of the first one.

Spoilers for cameos/credit scenes...
SPOILER: show

Great nod to Stan Lee being a/linked with The Watchers.

Credit scenes:
1) Kraglin practicing using Yondu's arrow and accidentally hitting Drax
2) The Sovereign reveal a new birthing pod to create..."Adam"
3) The Ravagers who were the original comic book Guardians come together
4) A scene with Peter yelling at a teenage Groot who is playing a video game
5) Stan is left sat on a rock in space as The Watchers tire of him.

Fignuts 05-06-2017 07:42 PM

So good. I think the first film is structured just a little bit better, but overall this was better. Biggest flaw of the first one was the weak villain. Not a problem here. Kurt nailed it.

Also probably the best Stan Lee cameo ever.

McLegend 05-06-2017 10:59 PM

I liked it, but not as much the first one. Also this movie was more sad then I thought it was going to be.

Malfeitor 05-07-2017 04:20 AM

I was over this movie after 20 minutes.

Ezra 05-07-2017 10:11 AM

Thought it was great. Beautiful to watch, funny in several moments and it pulled mored emotion out of me for Yondu (of all people) than I thought possible.

I think the biggest peeve I would have had would have been the previews gave away most of the funny parts. This is true of about all movies but with the popularity behind this I think they could have gotten away with showing less and leaving more for the viewing.

Destor 05-07-2017 05:15 PM

Really had a good time. Trailers gave too much away but the movie still had a lot to offer outside of those scenes.

Lock Jaw 05-07-2017 11:59 PM

Just came back from it..... loved it.....

Felt like it was maybe "less funny" than the first one, but a better "overall story" and the villain/conflict far and away better......

SPOILER: show
V emotional at Yondu's death..... even though I had it mostly spoiled for me....

Freakin CBR.com post an article with the headline "James Gunn & Michael Rooker on saying goodbye to that Guardians character", with the sub-heading/tag of "Not all of the Guardians of the Galaxy make it out of the Marvel Studios sequel, a decision that wasn't easy for writer/director James Gunn."

Geez......

Fignuts 05-08-2017 12:20 AM

Yeah I blocked that site a long time time ago. They spoil shit all the time.

Lock Jaw 05-08-2017 12:25 AM

Where would I get my newz then

Fignuts 05-08-2017 12:36 AM

Smelly Meatball

McLegend 05-09-2017 06:44 PM

So at the end a certain character said to some other character "I'm going to Kill Thanos!" The some character responded with basically "That's impossible."

Is it impossible at this point? Isn't the villain they just fought more powerful than Thanos at this point in time?

Ps I'm being vague on purpose

Fignuts 05-09-2017 08:05 PM

I dunno. Ego called himself a god, but he wasn't all powerful or anything. They also probably weren't just referring to Thanos' powet but also his resources. I could see killing Thanos being a larger task than defeating ego.

Lock Jaw 05-09-2017 08:06 PM

Ego may have been more "powerful" but he had a pretty exposed weakness.

Destor 05-09-2017 08:17 PM

Celestials are a few levels above base Titans but the people who said that killing was impossible new nothing about the Celestials

Swiss Ultimate 05-09-2017 08:20 PM

Pretty amazed they outdid the first.

The brain at the center of the planet protected by steel and rock?

Lock Jaw 05-09-2017 08:56 PM

Yeah......

Thanos' brain protected by his hide being stronger than steel and rock. Maybe. I don't actually know.

I think it would be harder to blow up his brain, anyways.

MCU is kind of it's own thing though. Ego being a celestial definitely doesn't mean the same thing as being a celestial in the comics. Guardians wouldn't have been able to touch him otherwise.

Fignuts 05-09-2017 10:06 PM

I mean if you're worried about the scale of the threat in infinity war being less than Guardians 2, don't sweat it. Ego will be an insect compared to thanos once he gets the infinity guantlet assembled.

SPOILER: show
Also, Nebula going after thanos alone is totally setting up for her to be reduced to the decaying zombie mess she was in the comic.

McLegend 05-09-2017 10:20 PM

I know once the Guanlet gets introduced then that's a different story, but I think Ego is more powerful right now.

Thanos just needs his hot insect lady to divulge his weakness, and game over.

road doggy dogg 05-09-2017 10:32 PM

He might be more powerful, but he's not as big of a threat. Thanos is powerful, but what makes Thanos one of the biggest marvel villains is his intelligence, cunning, and ruthlessness. He constantly uses that to best cosmic beings that are more powerful than him.

His weakness in the comics is that in the back of his mind , he knows he's not worthy of omniscience , so he subconsiously provides the heroes with the means to defeat him. He's so effective in what he does that he literally needs to let the heroes win for the story to have a happy ending.

Fignuts 05-10-2017 02:30 AM

If anyone couldn't tell by my nerdsplanations, Thanos is my favorite comic villain.

Kalyx triaD 05-10-2017 02:41 AM

SPOILER: show
I fucking loved this. And if Stallone and his OG Guardian team spins off or gets some time on Vol. 3 that would be awesome.

- Yeah this was shockingly emotional. Almost as emotional heavy as Civil War.

- Yondu breaking down Rocket was a very good scene.

- Hilarious how out of control mean Drax was to Mantis.

- Great to see James Gunn's bro get his part upgraded to a Guardian, even if he'll likely be a water boy.

- Dunno why, but I fucking love Ayesha and her race of douchebags. Of course they'd deal death as an arcade videogame. And Adam fucking Warlock is coming.

- Great dynamic with Nebula and Gamora with the former actually being the softer one back then.

- I really wish Peter could keep some of those powers.

- I expected Ego to go into a villain rant after Mantis hinted at something going wrong. But it went further than 'I'm actually an insane person'. He wants to be a cosmic virus, sired hundreds of kids (Peter's siblings) and killed them when they didn't have the god gene, and also killed his mother in the slowest brutal way he thought up. After that Peter had no words, he just started shooting. Also the villain motivation justifies his name to a T.

- Considering Stark was never quite the same after the first Avengers, a mystery blob coming out of nowhere and swallowing a city block will further push his space paranoia further.

- lol A fucking Zune.

XL 05-10-2017 09:19 AM

So, this story takes place 3 months after the original, therefore before Age Of Ultron and Civil War yet there's no mention/reference to the earth based events that take place in the movie.

Kalyx triaD 05-10-2017 11:08 AM

Odd. Though that could be shoed in later.

Ezra 05-10-2017 11:46 AM

Maybe they don't know. At this point I would say it's fair to say they don't have any real earth contacts.

Kalyx triaD 05-10-2017 12:47 PM

Can't miss a blob eating a city block. And SHIELD no longer has the resources to hide something like that.

Fignuts 05-10-2017 01:08 PM

Well it's not like anyone is going to travel all the way to earth and be like "hey guys, sorry, that was just this living planet trying to turn you into more of him, but don't worry the guardians of the galaxy stopped him"

Destor 05-10-2017 01:12 PM

They could have if this film is only taking place 3months after the 1st film. It was movie after Winter Soldier but there isnt anything that says timeline wise it didnt take place prior.

Not saying one way or the other but im just saying we dont really have any of that info.

Kalyx triaD 05-10-2017 01:41 PM

Imo it doesn't make it a great deal of difference if the movie was three months after or real-time like the rest. Don't think they should have even bothered saying how long time passed. People assume it's real time anyway.

Yeah, nobody is saying that.

Civil War for example makes defence to the New York incident in Avengers, and the events of Age of Ultron, but doesn't mention the giant blobs that came out of nowhere to gobble up cities. It's a plot hole.

XL 05-10-2017 01:44 PM

The "3 months later" thing is from the IMDb page. It doesn't make a whole lot of difference no, but there's a bunch of movies with "insignificant" plot holes that are still talked about.

The sakovia accords were in direct response to superhero related collateral damage. No one on earth knows about the guardians or anything about what goes on out in space. For all they know it was an inexplicable natural disaster. They're not related.

Shadow 05-10-2017 03:50 PM

SPOILER: show
Stan Lee talked about how one time he was a Federal Express agent. This is set after Civil War. Time is different up in space

McLegend 05-10-2017 04:35 PM

Wait we have no idea the actual years the marvel movies take place in.

If you recall In The First Avenger's movie Bruce Banner said he was last in Harlem a year ago. Hulk was made in 2008 and Avengers was made in 2012.

So we can't accurately say what the current year is the marvel universe.

XL 05-10-2017 04:40 PM

There is a timeline. The start of Dr Strange marries up with Iron Man 2, but you're not given anything regarding a timeline following the car accident.

That's not a plot hole, technically. Just a continuity gaff. Neither plots of the Avengers or Guardians series are hurt by this.

Fignuts 05-10-2017 08:30 PM

It's not even a gaff or screw up. So far Avengers and Guardians have been completely seperate, outside of infinite stones and thanos being present. No reason to bring it up in civil war when they wouldn't know what caused it.

Lock Jaw 05-10-2017 10:21 PM

Yeah, it's probably just treated as some weird phenomenon that a bunch of scientists are off studying.

If the Avengers was a team of scientists researching weird phenomenons, then it might be weird that they didn't mention it.

Like Hasselhoff got a paycheck out of this. I love it.

I was talking with my wife about this... I just love that all these movies are building towards infinity war... and in general that they are all connected like this. Nothing else was ever like this before.

And even though they are big budget mega blockbusters that rake in billions for "the man" you know that the people making them are like "I fucking want to see this shit happen in the movies!"

They are real fans and they get to create this for other fans! I love it.

This was amazing, again.

Guardians is on pace to become the highest grossing super hero film to not have spider-man, batman or iron man in it.

Rammsteinmad 05-17-2017 11:47 AM

Loved it! Absolutely amazing, right up there with the first. Sucks about Yondu, but really glad he got his proper fin, nice callback there to the original character.

Ego was brilliant... even the whole face on the side of a planet looked incredible and came across totally legit without seeming cheesy or daft.

The CGI seemed a bit naff at times though, not sure if that was intentional or not, but the Watchers in particular I thought looked pretty bollocks. But was cool to see them on the big screen either way.
