I wonder who will play Paige...I could see Alicia Vikander

slik 02-07-2017 03:35 PM

Oh wait, the article says who is playing the role of "Paige", an actress named Florence Pugh

Big Vic 02-07-2017 03:36 PM

I could see Paige.

Big Vic 02-07-2017 03:37 PM

The Rock should play Paige.

slik 02-07-2017 03:45 PM

The Rock would be an excellent Paige.

"This is my House" should be the name of the film though.

Big Vic 02-07-2017 03:46 PM

Albert Del Rio should still play himself though.

Apart from people who want to fuck Paige, what makes The Rock think people would want to see a film about a family of chavs and the dad's shit wrestling promotion and his bitch of a daughter?

This sounds like an instant flop.

If this is based off the "Fighting With My Family" documentary that was on Channel 4 back in the day, then it should keep Paige as the complete and utter piece of shit that she was in the documentary.

Cool King 02-07-2017 04:10 PM

Good luck to The Rock though.

What did she do to be an "utter piece of shit" in the documentary

ClockShot 02-07-2017 04:33 PM

This totally has "Lifetime Movie" written all over it.

Check your local listings.

Gonna be hard to find an actress with milky white skin, pierced navel, and walks around screaming "THIS IS MY HOUSE!"

I can't be bothered going into detail really, but the gist is that in the documentary, she comes across as an attention whore who has no interest in wrestling at all, in fact she ridicules it constantly, but one day before a show at her dad's promotion, her brother injures himself and her dad asks her to be a last minute replacement in a tag team match, but she's not interested. Eventually, her mum talks her into doing it.

During her debut, she does sweet fuck all and just stands on the apron, but all the attention of the fans is on her because "she looks nice", so the dad starts using her to get the crowd in to his events and because she's such an attention whore, she agrees to go along with it.

Eventually, the WWE come to town and hold tryouts. Her brothers, who have been wrestling since they were kids and pretty much waiting for this day all their lives, go but are rejected. Paige, after being talked into going by her mum and being told that there's a chance of being famous, goes along too, despite being green as goose shit as she's only been getting training from her family for a year or less, but she gets accepted anyway and she says that she wasn't asked to do much at the tryout and hints that her looks are what got her accepted, as apparently one of the panel (I'm guessing Michael Hayes) kept commenting on her looks.

Back at home, her brothers are pretty much distraught, but Paige doesn't care that their dreams have been crushed, as she's goes ahead and talks to the documentary maker about how much she's looking forward to being "rich and famous" and she spews out a massive list of what she's going to buy with all her money.

She just came across as a terrible terrible human being in the documentary. Very shallow and somewhat Machiavellian.

Think that I watched this documentary once and it didn't seem "as bad" as you always make it out to be, and don't remember half the things you say happening actually happening......

WWE Paige still does seem like a crazy person/mega brat, but I didn't really get that too much from the documentary.........

yeah will she get a push from this, it is a big deal for the rock to do this, it can't be a wwe hit job, it has to be a good work, for the movie and wrestlemania

Emperor Smeat 02-07-2017 09:32 PM

Kind of funny the main reason this is happening is because Rock drank too much coffee/soda one time and couldn't go to sleep. Just so happened the documentary about Paige's family was on tv while he was channel surfing.

She has said today that she wants to transition to MMA, so Cool King might get the ultimate payoff from her documentary appearance by seeing her destroyed.

I just can't imagine her as an MMA fighter at all. I am imagining CM Punk all over again.

I haven't seen the documentary, but don't think her antics with Del Rio paint her in a good light at all. She has come across childish and a bit of a brat tbh.

But impressions like that can always be wrong

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-08-2017 12:47 PM

That's what I immediately thought too. I don't think there is a lot of maturity there and judging from how often del Rio is getting into fights backstage at events or in restaurants, not sure he can provide it either.

I thought she would regret throwing away her WWE career, basically, at its peak, but after reading all that documentary stuff, maybe her heart wasn't in it to begin with.

BigCrippyZ 02-08-2017 01:55 PM

She's just a young idiot. That being said, there's a ton of young idiots out there. It's almost a prerequisite to being young.

Have a feeling she'll end up dying young or she'll become another Sunny scenario where sure, it's sad to see but there's no one to really blame but her.

It never was.

She's never really cared about wrestling. She just wants the fame, money and opportunities that comes with being a wrestler.

Damian Rey 2.0 02-08-2017 02:50 PM

Prob a direct to DVD effort. And if it does well I can see WWE doing more bio pics on their wrestlers.

As far as Paige goes, I have a thing for fair skin and dark hair, and she seemed good enough in the ring, but yeah, the heart's not there. Oh well. Maybe she'll do porn before she's over the hill.

Danny Electric 02-09-2017 03:16 PM

Definitely won't be Direc to DVD as Stephen Merchant is directing it, and Nick Frost is playing her dad and Lena Heady her mom. I'm guessing there's gonna be a comedy element to it.

I'm guessing her thinking she can wrestle and transition to MMA would make it the comedy movie of the year.

Not to mention WWE "films" involvement almost making certain its a bargain bucket special 10 minutes after release.

Damian Rey 2.0 02-09-2017 05:06 PM

With all due respect to both Nick Frost and Lena Headley, they're not exactly household names to the point where their involvement will mean the film will be released in theaters. Maybe it will be but it won't be due to them being in it.

I have a hard time seeing this have any appeal theatrically. But we'll see. Maybe they'll be some nude scenes.

Cool King 02-09-2017 06:45 PM

This has "Direct to DVD" written all over it, and even then, it'll most probably fail to sell well.

The only place in the world I can see it being in cinemas is in Norwich, and even then I doubt many people will go to see it.

The people of Norwich have more important things to spend their benefit money on.

XL 02-10-2017 03:10 PM

Is this due to be an actual Paige biographical film, or more of a "based on a true story" type deal?

Look we all know 'The Call' and 'See No Evil' were very close to Oscar nomination.

Maybe not in the USA but over here Nick Frost is a household name and Stephen Merchant is as well because of The Office etc

I'm guessing Mr XL that this would be one of those 'based on a true story' efforts, probably finish with Paige becoming the first female wrestler to win the men's WWE belt and The Royal Rumble. Also a final scene with her shouting 'Alberto' whilst bloody and bruised.

Nick Frost hasn't really been "relevant" here since the mid 2000's. He was what felt like everywhere between 2004 and 2007, since then, he just randomly appears on TV talking about his latest movie.

Last time he was on TV here talking about his latest movie was in 2014 when he was talking about Cuban Fury and even that didn't do that greatly or receive a great reception from critics. Between 2007 and 2014, he's only had two movies that he's plugged on TV and which were successes, Paul and The World's End.

There seems to be a pattern that's emerged with the movies he's in, that they aren't really that "great" so to speak, unless he's with Simon Pegg. His movies with Pegg have done well and are generally well received, whereas his movies without Pegg are quite the opposite.

All the times I remember him being on TV talking about his latest movie, all the ones with Pegg have turned out successful but his others, not so much.

I won't lie though, everyone here knows Nick Frost, but if that pattern is to be believed, then we also know that without Pegg, his movies aren't really worth flocking to the cinema to see.

I really doubt when the movie is released and Nick Frost's names is plastered on the front cover of the DVD (or if he's lucky, movie poster), that people will see it and think "Wow, this is a must watch. Nick Frost is in it!".

As for Stephen Merchant, he's pretty much the same as Nick Frost. Everyone here knows his name but that doesn't mean we'll be rushing to watch his movies.

The movies he has been in aren't really memorable (or successful) ones. Much like Frost & Pegg, Merchant can't seem to be "successful" without Ricky Gervais. Merchant is more of a television actor than a movie actor but from his television work that's given him the most success, it's all be with Gervais.

As we're posting on a wrestling forum, I'll say this in a way we can all understand and is appropriate....

The Rock has got himself two Jannettys.

XL 02-11-2017 01:57 PM

I think you're both overstating/overestimating the name value of both Frost and Merchant; they're both "well known" but not "household names"/someone everybody knows. For context, Simon Cowell is a household name.

As CK suggests they're both "sidekicks". I can't think of a film Frost had been in that wasn't a Simon Pegg deal. Merchant could get some name value next month as he appears in Logan but I doubt that translates to "I have to see the film by the guy who played a bit part in the last Wolverine film".

Danny Electric 02-11-2017 08:12 PM

At the end of it all it's not gonna be anywhere near as good as 'Ready To Rumble'

Danny Electric 02-11-2017 08:15 PM

Seth Rogen to play Sami Zayn and Ricky Gervais to play Vince. Maybe get Sean Bean to play William Regal

He's not a household name in the states. Unless you're a big fan of those films, the average movie goer isn't going to clamor to go see him in a movie. Simon Pegg is a bigger name and has more mainstream exposure in the states than Frost.

Lena Headley being on game of thrones is not the same as Lena Headley being the star of game of thrones. Emilia Clarke is a bigger name from that show and has box office track record to show her appeal.

It's not a knock on these actors but they're not the draw to the everyday movie goer.

Ultra Mantis 02-12-2017 02:45 PM

Vince Vaughn has also been added to the film. He will be playing an 80s legend who who has fallen on hard times with family and money, rumoured to be Jake Roberts.

Well Jake Roberts was kicking around the UK for a while back in the early 2000's.

I remember he randomly showed up during an episode of Trisha to give his advice and thoughts on one of the situations that was being spoken about.

Cool King 02-15-2017 04:34 PM

I actually think he appeared in a good few number of episode too.

One bad decision after another, but these days he owns his past actions and does everything he can to give back to the wrestling business he loves."
