BREAKING: Al Roker announced for WrestleMania 33

Roker will lay the Miz out

Gotta get celebrities in for the proposal
|
Fun mainstream crossover with a celebrity who will appeal to the target audience for the match and post show activities related to this match. Nice job.

About time. Every edition of WM should have had a famous meteorologist to give the day's national forecast. Do you people think the man can live off just checks from NBC and The Weather Channel?! DO YOU?!
|
Man, the starpower of this WrestleMania just shot up. Take my money.
|
Good for Roker and at least it wouldn't be as big of a waste of time like Shaq and Show probably would have been.
Get the idea that the WWE wants a modern version of the Macho-Liz moment but everything about the build to the Cena-Nikki moment feels way too forced or "fake." |
I entered this thread thinking "who?" and then I find out that it's just some weatherman.
I'm now looking forward to when the WWE call in Michael Fish to handle ring announcing duties next time they come over here. |
Also, why a weatherman?
It seems pretty random. What's so great about this weatherman that he's been given the opportunity to announce the arrival of the face of the company at WrestleMania? |

I see.

Of course, Roker brings the pussy

I guess he fits for an outdoor Wrestlemania. Now if they could only book a storm we'd have a Wrestlemania worthy match.

When you cant make any new stars and everyone else has been done to death you turn to Al Roker for star power.
|
Should try to get Joey Lawrence as the timekeeper.
|
Because the broads love him

Honestly wish WWE would bring in old school ring announcers for each match, Michael buffer for the main event, Howard Finkel, Tony Chimmel etc.
|
But how would that attract old broads?
|
You got Roker. That key demo is locked the fuck down.

Roker isn't the key. He's just a means to an end. If everything goes down like it should, John and Nicole have a nice moment, and on The Today Show, they play the clip largely because All was there. Broads generally are the ones who watch that show, broads will like seeing an engagement story. That's why he's a logical choice. Hope that helps.

Yeah once women 28-54 see the highlights of mania they are def gonna watch smackdown to see what happens next. Good point.
|
this is basically wrestlemania so black ami right
|

When I think "ultimate thrill ride", I think Al Roker.
|
I think Xavier Woods and Brad Maddox.
|
So did the 28-54 female demo move or nah?
|
Don't know, but WM was the most watched Mania is history. Unfortunately WWE doesn't release viewership by demo. I could ask around though.
|
Viewership was down this week so the answer is no, unless you want to argue that they lost voewers from the 18-30 male demo and the old braods helped even it out
|
WWE basically lowered their PPV price from $60 to $9.99 AND gave away a shitload of new original content AND archives to their video library... AND other major wrestling companies' video library AND gave all of this away for free or an even MORE reduced price to a shitload of other people in order to POSSIBLY get more people to watch WrestleMania.
SUCCESS! |
And in doing all that, how many more people are subscribers to the network than the $1.2 million which was the pre-network, $60 paying record? And how many of those didn't even have to pay the $9.99? And do we even know how many of those who were subscribers bothered to watch WrestleMania and don't just use the network for the archives and other programming?
Yeah... |

If they had just lowered the price of the PPVs that much, claiming a jump in people watching as a victory for the current product would be hilarious. The fact that there's ALL that on top of it... Come on... lol
|
Also, I watched at someone's house where 3 other people had the network. That's right. 3 people who had the network were watching on one subscription. Back in the day, that would have been counted as 1 buy. Now it's 4. Forgot to add that to my reasons the "more people watched than ever before" thing is bullshit. That's a pretty major one.
But CyNick will skew the fuck out of that number to actually try to make it still seem like WWE is at a peak in popularity. lol |
