Of course, Vince has many great achievements as a wrestler. His fued with Austin won the monday night war after all.

Gave it to Vince, as his feud with Austin during the Attitude Era is probably the main reason why the then WWF was finally able to turn the tide permanently in their favor v. WCW in the Monday Night Wars.

Big Vic 06-27-2017 04:31 PM

Vince had a better performance in "Surf's Up 2: WaveMania" so Vince

#1-norm-fan 06-27-2017 04:32 PM

Will Jim Cornette and/or Vince Russo be in this eventually?

Destor 06-27-2017 04:34 PM

The Vince McMahon character is one of the greatest on screen characters of all time. Like all babyfaces Austin draw was because of his great heel. Therefor Vince out draws Cena IMO.

VINCE.

Vince really does have a lot of memorable matches under his belt

Rammsteinmad 06-27-2017 07:54 PM

Got confused and thinking this was the fifth round for Cena and thought surely this is a joke.

John Cena haha. (who apparently debuted 15 years ago!)

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-27-2017 09:26 PM

So Cena beats Brock... now Vince is beating Cena? People here are fucking retards lol

#1-norm-fan 06-27-2017 09:46 PM

I'm pretty sure this was just Destor doing something to make the typically predictable first round somewhat interesting...

Vince is gonna win though. lol

People always like the "new thing"

Lock Jaw 06-27-2017 09:55 PM

Anyways, I'm voting Cena.

Vince, despite not being a wrestler, can get people invested and when he did wrestle it felt "special".

That said, I want someone on my roster who would be able to consistently actually wrestle. It doesn't hurt that it is John Cena, who can also make a match feel "special".

Cena wins.

Bad News Gertner 06-28-2017 08:48 PM

Vince. He won the ECW Championship.

Cena didn't.

Emperor Smeat 06-28-2017 09:34 PM

Cena mainly because most of Vince's biggest achievements were not as a wrestler and tough to do a fair comparison.

Vince had the way more entertaining gimmick/characters but him being the actual owner and not simply just another GM type figure was a big reason why. ECW era Vince was pretty great in terms of character and also showing his real thoughts about ECW itself after a while.

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-29-2017 01:19 AM

Destor 06-29-2017 03:03 PM

If you want to argue he didnt do it well thats fine but he was totally an on air wrestling talent as a special attraction for some time...10 years or so

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 03:22 PM

I don't have a problem with him being in the poll given he's worked matches, but he's not a wrestler, therefore he shouldn't be close to Cena, IMO. ESPECIALLY since Cena just toppled Brock.

Sepholio 06-29-2017 03:33 PM

I find it funny looking back at Cena vs Brock. A lot of comments, including my own, about how Brock is a superior wrestler, but that Cena has more of the intangibles and a bigger presence outside of actually wrestling (which is rather debatable imo). Regardless, it seems like it came down to who had the bigger impact on wrestling, not who was the better wrestler. Yet here we are, faced with a similar dilemma, and all of a sudden it seems like it is all about the wrestling. Strange.

I voted for Vince because he has had a far greater impact on the business than Cena. Is Cena a better wrestler? Clearly, by leagues. But who has been more important to the industry as a whole? Vince. No contest. If Vince never existed it would have a huge impact on where we are today with the wrestling world; if Cena never existed? Well, meh?

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 03:34 PM

I voted for Brock because he is better than Cena as a wrestler and a presence.

#1-norm-fan 06-29-2017 03:34 PM

He's a wrestler like Jim Cornette is a wrestler.

Cornette didnt get billed in a headline match against Hulk Hogan at Wrestle Mania though. Vince has had a pretty weird in ring career.

#1-norm-fan 06-29-2017 03:35 PM

And for the record, I'm totally cool with Cornette being in this poll. The floodgates have opened. Think of the possibilities.

Vince drawing more "as a wrestler" than Cornette has nothing to do with whether one is a wrestler and one isn't.

#1-norm-fan 06-29-2017 03:39 PM

By that standard, you could make the argument that Lawrence Taylor was a wrestler and Curtis Axel isn't a wrestler.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 03:39 PM

Vince could "work" somewhat because he understands storytelling, and he also has a good body so it made him slightly believable. His matches had fun car crash value, but he was fucking terrible since he is y'know, not a wrestler. He was just ballsy.

Shane is also a shit wrestler, but could take part in good matches because of the car crash value and his willingness to bump.

I like Shane better now, shitty punches aside, because at least he's in shape and looks credible. Actually wish he'd do away with the baseball jersies and wrestle in jeans and shirtless or with a beater or something, so he'd look like less of a dink, since he's in good shape now.

I wouldnt have an issue with Cornette in this TBH however theres a huge difference in how these guys were book. Vince, exlcuding the onset, wasnt booked as a second being forced into a match. Vince was booked as a wrestler wrestling.

Blue Demon 06-29-2017 08:45 PM

Austin vs. McMahon single handedly saved the wwe at the time. It was the hottest fued going until USA vs Canada

that has nothing to do with Vince as a wrestler.

Sepholio 06-29-2017 09:51 PM

Yup, the Austin/McMahon feud won the Monday Night War, the highest rated era of wrestling. They were pulling like double what Cena has ever pulled.

Absurd. Austin vs McMahon on raw drew a 6.0 rating

Destor 06-29-2017 10:14 PM

Whats cenas highest rated raw match?

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 10:20 PM

Vince the character is a ratings draw, and people in those days would shell out scratch to see him get his comeuppance. But he is an AWFUL wrestler lol

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 10:21 PM

I mean he was very good at getting the shit kicked out of him by Stone Cold.

The criteria for a great heel right there

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 11:04 PM

He was certainly a great heel character, not a good wrestler.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 11:06 PM

Happy to see Cena is comfortably ahead.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 11:08 PM

Vince to Austin is what Bobby Heenan was to Hogan. If WWF had RAW and monthly ppvs in those days, Hogan and Heenan would have had a cage match or something ridiculous. And Heenan could work, probably better than Vince.

Destor 06-29-2017 11:13 PM

Henan wasmt much to hogan. Only for maybe 1 year or so.

Not sure why youre trying to discredit Vinces in ring career though. It happend. It was successful. Its weird lokking back on it.

But your entire argumemt is essentially "lol wut" but vince has had a pretty respectable in ring career. And nearly never booked as a fish out of water but instead booked as special attraction. And his angles have done business with a myriad of workers as well as some of the biggest angles of all time.

Destor 06-29-2017 11:14 PM

Those are just things that happened. Theres no opinion there. Him being better is another argument. But lumping in vince with managers is a bit dishonest to how he booked himself.

Destor 06-29-2017 11:15 PM

Hes no more a second or a manager than Shane or stephanie who also were booked are serious competitors

Destor 06-29-2017 11:16 PM

I mean fuck...when a top baby face gets a manager or a second in a match there isnt a heat. Hogam took heat from vince for 15 min at WRESTLE MANIA. Lets at least acknowledge the facts.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 11:17 PM

It's not "lolwut", he just wasn't a good wrestler, and even then, the "special attraction" was the fact that he wasn't really a wrestler by trade.

Destor 06-29-2017 11:17 PM

You can argue he wasnt good at it but the argument that he didnt do it is dishonest

Destor 06-29-2017 11:18 PM

Because he absolutely booked himself as one for over 10 years

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 11:19 PM

I mean, they're owners playing wrestlers. Good on them for taking bumps, and you can call them wrestlers because they've worked, but they aren't good wrestlers. Shane and Vince can both be good characters and with heavy choreographing have decent matches. Stephanie is a blight on wrestling and is one of the main reasons I don't really watch anymore.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 11:21 PM

I mean I'm not arguing with you, more puzzled how anyone could vote for Cena over Brock and then vote for Vince over Cena.

He booked himself as a special attraction. And the attraction was that he wasn't a wrestler. That was always the attraction. He was a massively over guy who wasn't a wrestler wrestling massively over wrestlers.

Agreed. #ConfirmationBias

#1-norm-fan 06-29-2017 11:39 PM

Destor got what he wanted from this round though. An otherwise ho-hum round made interesting by a spirited debate. In the end, Destor has proven himself to be a better booker than anyone currently booking for Raw or Smackdown.

Lock Jaw 06-29-2017 11:40 PM

I think this is getting back to the debate of "define wrestler".

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-29-2017 11:43 PM

Vince McMahon has wrestled so you can judge him as a wrestler. But to say he's better than John Cena, particularly the same people that said Cena was better than Lesnar, is just fucking retarded.

Destor 06-29-2017 11:52 PM

Hey round 2s are fucking hard when you have HoF level guys

#1-norm-fan 06-30-2017 12:03 AM

You SAY he's a HoF level guy... but he got destroyed by Chris Jericho 33-4 last time apparently. Which is just insane.

Destor 06-30-2017 12:07 AM

Everytime we do this the mystique of cena grows...and as steonger competition is weeded out...its a matter of time...

Destor 06-30-2017 12:07 AM

(I do not expect him to go in on this bid...the round 5 guys available are fucking steep right now)

Destor 06-30-2017 12:08 AM

But I don't think i will be able to beat him next time..

#1-norm-fan 06-30-2017 03:40 AM

Feel like I've never seen Andre the Giant in a "Better Wrestler" matchup. Which seems weird.

Lock Jaw 06-30-2017 04:10 AM

Consulting the records, I see that he appeared three times in the last Better Wrestler series. Popping up as an opponent for Ric Flair, Eddie Guerrero, and Hulk Hogan, losing to all three in pretty lopsided results.

#1-norm-fan 06-30-2017 04:14 AM

He should have been more successful. He's Andre the Giant. Goddamn marks.

Sepholio 06-30-2017 04:38 AM

Meltzer sheep....

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-30-2017 06:11 AM

People equate too much of Andre's career with his WWF run in the later 80s when he couldn't move at all, versus his stuff in the 70s and early 80s when he was a fucking boss and a legit amazing worker.

Mr. Nerfect 06-30-2017 07:28 AM

Going against my usual drawing argument, Cena's body of work outshines Vince's occasional spikes of entertaining shit. It's not really a fair comparison for me.
