Daniel Bryan is so overrated. HBK is an all time great. But what it really comes down to is the fact that HBK hunts animals and eats meat while Bryan is a Nancy boy vegan. Lame.

As much as he screwed Bret....there's no denying Shawn's ability and being an all around talent.

HBK, not only the greatest in ring performer of all time, for me, but also one of the great storytellers. Matches like his comeback against HHH, the Flair Mania match and his own retirement match were so fueled with emotion. He knew how to tell a story and make it all seem so high stakes.

Just a personal opinion, but noone beats him as an overall performer for me. I have never came close to getting so much enjoyment out of one performer as I have out of HBK. Absolute legend.

Bischoff didnt want Bret he wanted the title. They were going to Alundra Blaze it on Nitro. So Bret works this monster contract. Bischoffs cock is hard and they sign the deal. Bret loves vince. So Bret goes to him and tells him about the pay dat and together they create this scenerio to keep Bret from gettinf sued and to protect the WWF.

Ask yourself some key questions here: why did vince go to ring side? He could have called for the bell from the back. Why did he? To sell the fucking angle. To remove any doubt that the finish was a fuck job. Why? Hes a fucking commentator why would needlessly break kayfabe like that?

The Wrestling with Shadows doc also gave it away. Back in the day when you gigged afterward theyd take sand paper and reallt rough your face up so when you went out on the town it would sell the angle. After the match Bret and Vince have it out...but behind closed doors...how convinient. Bret decks vince. He really did, the diff is vince and bret werent fighting they were selling the angle. Next night vince appears on tv with a shiner...why would he? That makes no sense. Unless you wanted Bischoff to see.

Can not vote against HBK, he is pretty much the greatest of all time as a complete package. The only "bad" thing about HBK's whole career was his several year absence during the attitude era with his injury but he more then made up for it with his incredible matches after his return.


HBK may be a huge asshole backstage, but he quintessentially the complete package of a wrestler. Amazing on the mic, incredible in the ring, an icon, an amazing presence inside and outside the ring, and in some ways a pioneer for the industry with contributions still felt today.


Daniel Bryan is a great, but he is one of many (in terms of wrestling history altogether). HBK is a legend. If wrestling history was a textbook, HBK would have his own chapter, while a guy like Bryan might get a few paragraphs.


I don't think anybody can touch HBK at this point. I love Daniel Bryan and I think if he was given a longer career and perhaps other stars to work with, he could've reached much higher, but at this point, it's a no brainer to pick HBK over him.

Couldn't even choose a favorite HBK match. It changes based on my mood. First Taker WM match, Flair retirement, HHH @ SummerSlam '02 and the iron man match with Bret for sentimental reasons would be up there.

Also, I actually prefer his Vengeance match with Angle over the WrestleMania one.

Honestly, being completely serious, Daniel Bryan is a Punk, Benoit, Guerrero level talent. If you had a massive fed, he would be mid to upper mid card. In the reliable worker match. The guaranteed 4 star match. He caught fire for a brief period, but he is not on the same level as the very top guys in the history of the business. Whether that be the very elite performers (Angle, HBK, Flair) or the megastars (Hogan, Austin, Rock).

They are all several tiers above him. I understand people enjoying his run and his big moment, but he seems to be extremely overrated on here. Think of the moments and matches and stories those top guys have had. Another level completely.

Bryan existed in a weird time when WWE's booking completely stopped having foresight. So they teased him winning the world title constantly, expecting to just move him out of the picture and be done with it. Once you do that to an underdog though, you've gotta have a payoff. They basically forced their own hand to give him a title run.

If not for that, he could have just kept being a fixture in the IC/US title picture and no one would have "rioted" over him not being a world champion. In an odd way, WWE's terrible booking is responsible for Daniel Bryan being kind of overrated.

This is a tough call for me. I'm gonna go with Bryan mostly because I had the benefit of enjoying his entire career as it was happening. I was invested in him from very early on and it made the eventual WM30 culmination feel all the more surreal to me.

Shawn had already had his first retirement before I started watching wrestling. While I obviously loved watching him in his second run, I never felt that I got to enjoy the same level of emotional investment as people who got to follow his run in the 90s. I can only imagine what it must've felt like for Shawn fans to actually have him come back 4 years after he was meant to be done.

Having said that, I'll go with Bryan knowing full well he's gonna lose anyway. Here's hoping Shawn can go the distance.

I think he had every tool to make money for any promoter that was willing to promote him. I think not signing him in his prime cost vince money; i think he's that good. And have for over a decade. He has an ear for a crowd that is so rare. He can call an audible so fast and adapt to the flux of a crowd in real time in ways few people can. And at a highhhhhh level and technique and athleticism. Frankly only Michaels benoit angle and Guerrero have ever been able to do it at that level, he's a very unique talent. And he didnt develope these skill in developmental.
