Fall TV Thread 2017-18

Well, here we go again.

Summer TV is just about wrapping up. And pretty soon, fall television will be starting right back up. How time flies.

Use this thread to tell us what you're going to try watching, what you're returning to, place your bet on which show gets cancelled first, what are you giving up on, etc.

I know there's a lot of hype going around for the new Star Trek show, The Deuce over on HBO, and some of ya are hyped for the new American Horror Story. Meanwhile, The CW continues it's DC monopoly with another superhero show on the way.

I'm not going to put together a list. But, I'll provide a link from TV Guide to give you an idea of what to expect this season.

http://www.tvguide.com/galleries/fal...-new-shows/17/

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND GO!

Lock Jaw 09-03-2017 08:44 PM

Hyped for the return of Curb Your Enthusiasm

Might check out The Deuce, but also might forget

Dunno if I will check out Black Lightning or The Gifted..... feel like there are already so many superhero TV shows for me to watch........

screech 09-03-2017 08:55 PM

Gonna be watching Gotham, Agents of SHIELD, and The Goldbergs, and Designated Survivor.

I haven't looked into any new shows yet.

Lock Jaw 09-03-2017 08:56 PM

Also hyped for season 2 of Legion

I never finished last season of Gotham..... probably didn't watch the majority of it..... I just fell way too behind and decided to delete it all from my DVR for the sake of space. I'll probably check it out when it comes out on Netflix.

Destor 09-03-2017 10:33 PM

Legion is what im most hyped for. Tbink Runaways is this fall season too...if that counts.

Lock Jaw 09-03-2017 10:46 PM

Oh yeah...... even though I have more than enough superhero shows, I'll probably try to check Runaways out

Lock Jaw 09-10-2017 09:59 PM

Watched the pilot of The Orville...... humour fell kind of flat for me, but the more serious aspects of the show were alright....... mainly it just made me want to watch the new Star Trek show. Or an old Star Trek show.

Droford 09-11-2017 01:32 AM

If it wasnt Seth McFarlane it wouldnt get a 2nd episode

The pacing was a bit off and the window washer bit at the end took away fron the scene but I am hoping for some improvements and at th moment hope it gets picked up.

I think his heart is in the right place for this

Big Vic 09-11-2017 11:08 AM

I doubt it lasts longer than the Cleveland show.

Clevland show had 88 episodes...just shy of syndication...

(still shocked they didnt order a 12 ep season...lost money by canceling them early imo...)

Destor 09-11-2017 11:30 AM

Think that was the most perplexing cancelation in recent years...

Lock Jaw 09-11-2017 11:53 AM

See the Cleveland Show on all the time on Much Music. Never watched an episode, though.

Destor 09-11-2017 11:58 AM

>100 eps brings in considerably less revenue...course it is changing with the impact streaming services are having...but somethign like the clevland show @88eps will allow for networks with fewer dollars to spend to grab it on the cheap.

Big Vic 09-11-2017 01:19 PM

why do you need a hundred eps for syndication?

Big Vic 09-11-2017 01:23 PM

This is why I guess

They show Cleveland Show on FOX Comedy here. At like 4am.

I didnt know that actually, good info. Makes the cancellation make more sense.

Big Vic 09-11-2017 02:13 PM

Back on topic I am quite excited to watch Survivor despite its awful gimmick this season.

Lock Jaw 09-11-2017 02:33 PM

What is the gimmick

Are there zombies on the island

Destor 09-11-2017 03:08 PM

I would watch that

Big Vic 09-11-2017 03:37 PM

That would be better

Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers is the upcoming 35th season of the American CBS competitive reality television series Survivor. This season will feature 18 new players divided into three tribes based on dominant perceived trait: "Heroes" (courage), "Healers" (helping others), and "Hustlers" (tenacity).

Just call it Survivor Fiji zzzzzzzz

ClockShot 09-12-2017 03:54 PM

I know this is for fall TV.

But I know some of you watch a few shows during the Summertime. So, I'll posts the fates of a few notable ones.

FX: Snowfall renewed for a 2nd season.

HBO: Insecure, Ballers, and Room 104 all picked up for another season. Veep will wrap it up with a final 7th season.

Netflix: GLOW, Ozark, Friends from College, Last Chance U all get another season. Gypsy has been cancelled.

Syfy: Dark Matter and Blood Drive cancelled. Killjoys gets 2 more 10-episode seasons (4th & 5th) to wrap things up.

TNT: Will cancelled after 1 season.

BBC America: The Doctor Who spinoff Class axed after 1 season.

Amazon: Transparent picked up for a 5th season before the 4th begins. Z: The beginning of everything and The Last Tycoon both cancelled.

History: Vikings picked up for a 6th season.

Anything I might have missed, or something specific you're looking for, Metacritic keeps good track of this stuff.

http://www.metacritic.com/feature/tv...17-2018-season

slik 09-12-2017 04:17 PM

All the new shows for ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX look really bad so far from what I've seen.

Destor 09-12-2017 04:25 PM

Z and the Last Tycoon were both excellent and Im really bummed about this

Destor 09-29-2017 05:52 PM

Inhumans is very nearly cancelled

ClockShot 09-29-2017 06:04 PM

CBS gives Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon a full season.

Spike cancels the Stephen King television adaption of The Mist after 1 season.

RP 09-29-2017 08:22 PM

This Inhumans is pretty terrible. But Ramsey Bolton is good.

RP 09-29-2017 08:37 PM

It's not that terrible though. The costumes are terrible.

RP 09-29-2017 08:54 PM

Rofl just shaved Medusa bald.

Destor 09-29-2017 09:01 PM

CG cost $$$

Destor 10-01-2017 06:15 PM

Watching inhumans. Not as bad as the word of mouth ive heard but i wont mourn its loss when it gets canned. Very average.

Destor 10-01-2017 06:24 PM

Medusa has huge tits

Lock Jaw 10-02-2017 08:36 PM

Just watched Inhumans as well. It was indeed average, but not as bad as all that. I'll check it out again.

The whole thing just probably would have worked better as a storyline in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where they discover Inhumans on the moon.

Medusa looks better bald. Was a pretty bad wig or whatever.

They also had Karnak hit his head and lose his smarts, so they have pretty much taken away two of the main character's abilities right off the bat.

Destor 10-02-2017 08:54 PM

Would have made a great shield arc

Destor 10-02-2017 08:56 PM

Karnak getting power anesia is "pretty bad" arc wise especially when you now have 3 charactersnkt able to use their powers...medusa is bald (Obviously thats impossible to comic fans but whatever) karnak is stricken retarded and black bolt nerfs himself.

Destor 10-02-2017 08:56 PM

3 characters with the same arc...

Destor 10-02-2017 08:56 PM

But i will give it 7 eps.

Destor 10-02-2017 10:05 PM

Watched the premiere of gifted. Not wow but solid. Polaris and Blink were rad. Ill give it my usual 7 before i make judgement.

Lock Jaw 10-02-2017 10:15 PM

Forgot about it.

Kind of want to not watch it because I already have too many shows, but who am I kidding......

Lock Jaw 10-03-2017 03:25 PM

Watched The Gifted..... was alright.... nobody told me Amy Acker was in this..... bumps it up a few points...... also a fan of Jamie Chung

Sixx 10-03-2017 03:33 PM

Needs Beak. And Skin.

Shit, just make a sitcom about the shittiest X-Men.

ClockShot 10-03-2017 05:22 PM

The Good Doctor gets a full season.

The Closer spin-off Major Crimes will end with their upcoming 6th season. Series finale is January 16th, 2018.

Droford 10-04-2017 07:09 PM

Bobs Burgers can't get canceled until after 2020 since they're making a movie for July 2020

Droford 10-04-2017 07:10 PM

I watched Kevin probably saves the world
ABC probably going to cancel it

Ghosted was funny

In December...

Destor 10-06-2017 11:14 PM

Thats a win

Lock Jaw 10-07-2017 12:01 AM

Watched new episode of Inhumans.

Karnak storyline so cringeworthy.

I like how Blackbolt got arrested due to having no concept of money, but then Medusa seems to grasp the concept pretty much right away.

I like this new Declan guy. Feel like I have seen him in another life, brotha.

Furthermore

SPOILER: show
Pray for Lockjaw........

Writers had him make it to Earth so naturally they had to run him over so he could get injured and not be able to use his powers

Lock Jaw 10-07-2017 12:03 AM

Also watched season premiere of Once Upon a Time. Pretty much seems like they are just literally going to redo the first season but with different characters. I don't see this show making it past this season. Should have just ended it last season.

Destor 10-07-2017 11:39 AM

Remember how we all praised Gal Gadot for her ability to play nieve without feeling stupid? No one on inhumans can do that

I thought this was the last season for some reason.

Lock Jaw 10-09-2017 09:52 PM

It probably will be

Destor 10-14-2017 12:45 PM

Inhumans ep 104: karnak learns to swim and kisses a girl

ClockShot 10-14-2017 02:12 PM

SEAL Team over on CBS gets a full season order.

NBC cancels The Night Shift after 4 seasons.

Show is slowly growing on me. I almost think they are doing it so camp and horrible on purpose that it's making it good.

The last episode was good Imo. The drama aspects aren't half bad.

Just watched..... so cringeworthy.......

Crystal now on Earth and also with a cringeworthy story now...... cool....

At least Felicity Smoak helped Medusa and Blackbolt reunite, so there will be one less parallel story to have to deal with.

Destor 10-15-2017 08:01 PM

3 eps to win me over...not looking good

ClockShot 10-18-2017 08:51 PM

Summer TV show Salvation gets a 2nd season over on CBS.

Netflix cancels Chelsea Handler's talk show after 2 seasons.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-18-2017 10:51 PM

Not sure why they tried an Inhumans Show after AOS was all about them for the last few seasons. Overkill

Just read that obscure DC Comics character Traci 13 is having a tv show developed for the CW....

Droford 10-21-2017 01:38 AM

Season 3 of Red Oaks kinda sucks compared to the first 2.

Destor 10-21-2017 01:10 PM

Inhumans 105: best ep yet. Not a dramatic statement butbindid enjoyt it well enough

Lock Jaw 10-21-2017 10:57 PM

Watched the latest Once Upon a Time. Very distracted by the actress who plays Cinderella having a huge vein running down the middle of her forehead that occasionally bulges out......... also distracted by the little girl looking exactly like Cisco Ramone from The Flash.....

ClockShot 10-23-2017 07:41 PM

Star Trek: Discovery has been picked up for a 2nd season.

Showtime gives Ray Donovan a 6th season and it's taking place in New York.

CBS summer show Zoo has been canceled after 3 seasons.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-23-2017 07:44 PM

2nd season isn't probably going to happen until 2019. Bryan Fuller left the series during production.

ClockShot 10-31-2017 04:57 PM

ABC's 10 Days in the Valley has been moved to Saturday nights and pulled from scheduling until December 16th. Pretty much not getting renewed.

ABC also gives Black-ish, Grey's Anatomy, and American Housewife an extra 2 episodes. Going from 22 to 24.

AMC gives Preacher a 3rd season.

USA cancels Playing House after 3 seasons.

Netflix will end House of Cards with their 6th season. You can thank Kevin Spacey for that.

ClockShot 11-02-2017 06:43 PM

The Orville over on FOX is the first of this season's new shows to earn a 2nd season. I'm quite surprised.

CBS' Me, Myself, & I has been pulled after 6 episodes, but no official cancellation notice. The remaining episodes will air at a later date.

Some potential bad news in the Marvel TV world. The New Warriors show which was slated to air on Freeform won't be shown due to scheduling issues. It's currently being shopped around to other networks.

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-02-2017 11:00 PM

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-05-2017 11:23 PM

Kevin Spacey has been fiiiiiiiiiiiired

ClockShot 11-07-2017 08:21 PM

Fox's The Mick has been extended from 13 to 20 episodes this season. Almost a full season.

Juan 11-08-2017 07:21 AM

Nice. It’s a good show

Lock Jaw 11-13-2017 03:52 PM

Finished the season of Inhumans..... really was not good at all....

Definitely not getting a second season, but I wonder if they will even ever be mentioned again.

screech 11-13-2017 04:04 PM

Inhumans wasn't great, but it wasn't nearly as bad as people said. I won't be mad if there isn't a second season.

I am mildly interested in seeing how they are incorporated into SHIELD, though, just so it wasn't "a waste."

screech 11-13-2017 05:24 PM

Just saw that Marvel Runaways starts next week on Hulu. Neat.

(I don't know anything about the series.)

Lock Jaw 11-13-2017 05:30 PM

Really enjoyed the first volume of Runaways, and a bit after that.

Was written/created by illustrious comic book writer Brian K. Vaughan, and it looks like they are sticking close to the source material of what I have seen so far. So I'm hoping it will be good.

Actually going to be airing on a tv channel here in Canada, so I don't need to worry about Hulu.

I will say the climatic 2 eps were very much improved but will ve relieved to never see it again

Lock Jaw 11-13-2017 08:59 PM

Yeah, it did improve.... but after how much everything on Earth was so cringeworthy it wasn't tough.....

But "lol" at the part where they were trying to take Maximus to the throne room and decided to sneak through tunnels they didn't know the layout of....... when they had access to a teleporting dog.

Destor 11-13-2017 09:07 PM

The show conviniently forgpt it was about superheros every other scene

Destor 11-13-2017 09:07 PM

Also crystal

Destor 11-13-2017 09:07 PM

Worst. Actress. Ever.

Destor 11-13-2017 09:07 PM

And her writing was bad on top of it. If I didnt go in knowing her power set im not sure the show would have helped.

Lock Jaw 11-13-2017 09:11 PM

I forgot her power set, so when she was just doing cold stuff I thought that was her power..... then just suddenly in the one episode she did fire/lightning and was all "I can control all the elements" and I was all "Huh..... really....."

Destor 11-13-2017 09:21 PM

Including earth which i dont think they ever touched on

Lock Jaw 11-13-2017 09:30 PM

In other news, Amazon has signed a deal to make a multi-season Lord of the Rings prequel series

Destor 11-13-2017 09:35 PM

....the hobbit?

Lock Jaw 11-13-2017 09:38 PM

I dunno what it is going to be based on. At first I just kept hearing "Lord of the Rings series", but then I read that it is going to be set before Fellowship of the Ring.......

Lock Jaw 11-13-2017 09:40 PM

Quote:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the multi-season Lord of the Rings series will be produced in-house at Amazon Studios alongside the Tolkien Estate and Trust, publisher HarperCollins and Warner Bros. Entertainment’s New Line Cinema.

Set in Middle Earth, the series will tell “new storylines,” serving as a prequel to The Fellowship of the Ring. The deal reportedly includes a potential for spinoff shows.

If it were in a previous era id be more hyped

ClockShot 11-14-2017 07:47 AM

The CW gives a full season order to Dynasty.

ABC gives an extra 3 episodes to Kevin (Probably) Saves the World.

And Amazon has ordered multiple seasons of an unknown Lord of the Rings series. But, no clue on when this is supposed to get underway.
