Do you want to see Undertaker wrestle again?
Personally, I don't -- Jerry Lawler recently said Taker was backstage meeting w/ Vince at Survivor Series and he 'looked incredible'...Lawler speculates Taker has a few more matches left in him.
|
Seems like HBK is going to be the only wrestler of an entire generation who was all "ya know what, I'm going to retire now, while I am still on top and before everything goes to shit"
|

Been saying this for a few years now. Absolutely not. His wrestlemania matches are absolutely meaningless since the streak is over nad putting him against Shane McMahon was just sad.
|
With no streak, there is no point.
If they had kept the streak, I would have pushed on, because the attraction would have outweighed the match quality. Without it, I don't really see any point in continuing |
Welp, Jason Jordan is gonna be upset again real soon.
|
Plus him leaving his hat and gloves in the ring in a long drawn out process, only to come back, is becoming laughable
|
No.
|
I double that no, don't ruin my memories. And take Kane with you too.
|
That match w/ Roman was so uncomfortable to watch b/c of Taker 'struggling' to do a lot of moves he has done for years.
|
Only match I want to see him in is vs Sting. Don't care if the match sucks, the build would probably be better than the match.
|
Not ever.
But he will. |
Is wheelchair wrestling a thing?
|
Not yet, but Taker will be headlining Tables, Ladders and Wheelchairs 2022.
|
I'm in the minority and I realize that, but I wouldn't mind him coming back and putting Strowman over strong.
|
After agreeing to job to Reigns at WM absolutely do not want to see him wrestle again. I don't mind Lesnar ending the streak and if Taker retired there it would've made more sense, or at least end after that Lesnar program. But to lose to RR at mania and having two blemishes on the WM record completely drained he myth and if he came back it would be as a glorified jobber which nobody wants to see.

I dunno Shisen. I think there is money in Biker Sting VS Surfer Taker as well.

LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE

I'm not sure I've ever wanted to see him wrestle. The only times it has ever worked out for me were with Shawn Michaels.

This thread remindse me. "Old School" is one of the dumbest fucking moves ever.
|
YES!!
Fuck the crybabies that whine it could be a spot for someone nobody gives a fuck about. |
If he does another one-on-one match, the only person he can do it with is Kane. Although, I can definitely see a Tag Match with Kane as the Brothers Of Destruction for a ride into the sunset with his storyline "brother." This would be the perfect way to get him into the Deadman Inc character and have both he & Kane retire together on motorcycles leaving the arena. I'm just wondering which Tag Team would make sense for them to face???
|
He's the wrestling equivalent of the band KISS.

Seriously, though. I can't remember too many times throughout history that I was interested in The Undertaker. Maybe a little bit with Bret Hart at SummerSlam 1997. Maybe a little bit with HBK in Hell in a Cell, same year. Maybe a little bit at Wrestlemania 25 with HBK again. Not even that much at Wrestlemania 26. I've just never been a huge fan. One of my friends who is actually coming over tonight was a huge Undertaker mark, but I never really "got it".
|
I used to like him. Was never my favourite or anything but I thought he was cool. Then he had Fred Durst singing for him and all was lost.

Oh yeah, I'll give you all three of those. He had an absolute banger with Angle. I remember watching at a Hooter's. I forget what show it was on, though.

No Mercy? Unforgiven? Something like that.
|
Lesnar v Taker is best hell in a cell ever
|
Alright, that was good too, but what's that...7 matches that I enjoyed him in over twenty five years or so? Even when those matches were good, I was never really interested in the entire program usually. I respect who he is and what he's done, but he's not exactly my cup of tea.
He's no Emma, that's for sure. |
No. He should have retired after the streak was killed off by Lesnar or after the HBK special guest ref match at Mania.
Once the streak was over, Taker's purpose for Mania was pretty much done. Same for the sendoff done for the "End of an Era" match to leave Mania on a high note. |
His work with Austin was always good.
WrestleMania 17 and 18 against HHH and Flair respectively, were really good. The ladder match on raw against Jeff Hardy. |

I did enjoy Booger Red more than Deadman. There, I said it.

Loved the Taker/Edge feud

Taker vs Batista was really good IMO
|
Kane should get a new gimmick where he thinks he is both Taker and Kane and wear a singlet that is half-taker/half-kane
No pyro tho b/c pyro was cut |

Keep in mind though, when they hooked up they were both broken down. In fact I don't know if I can remember a point where Taker wasn't broken down lol. |
Right. Hence me not being that into him.
|
I'm hopeful he decides to wrestle one more, since I have floor tickets for Mania. I wanna see that 20 minute entrance live. Not sure who I'd wanna see him face though. Maybe a rematch with Roman Reigns. I'd love to see him vs. Cena at Mania but I'm not sure how you'd get there. Him vs. AJ Styles is probably the only other one I really want to see.
|
Only if it's to put over Tatanka
|
Would also like to see another Undertaker-Kurt Angle match, would be sick if they did it at Mania.
|
Only if he agrees to face me, Lock Jaw
|
Why does Taker want to destroy everything we hold dear about him?
|
Biker Taker has never lost at Rasslemania. There's still a streak

Honestly, I want to see The Undertaker wrestle again.
For the simple fact that that I want him to go out on a great, memorable match. The last great match he had was with CM Punk; the rest Triple H x 2, Lesnar, Wyatt, McMahon & Reigns felt like nothing special for his legacy. In an ideal world, both him and Shawn Michaels should have retired after their first WrestleMania match because that match was fucking AMAZING and in the MAIN EVENT at WRESTLE FUCKING MANIA!!! AJ Styles versus The Undertaker at this year's WrestleMania is the best chance for a monumental (Great) match worthy of The Undertaker's retirement. P.S. I still cannot believe that the WWE did not capitalize on a Sting versus The Undertaker match when they had the opportunity. |
I voted no, but I've never been a big Taker fan. I can't think of an opponent I'd like to see him face that I wouldn't prefer someone else wrestle. Just let him go into the Hall of Fame and do the entrance one last time at WrestleMania when he headlines the class in the place he lost his streak.

One of my more controversial opinions on wrestling is that I actually wonder how much Undertaker has hurt the business. Inside it, everybody respects Taker, and this isn't actually meant as a knock on him. The dude did break his body for our entertainment and was involved in some classics. I'm not doubting that.
What I do doubt is how much widespread appeal there actually is in the guy. He did draw early in his career, but beyond that, Taker has actually performed quite badly when it comes to garnering PPV buys -- a trend that has followed him, except for a few notable occasions -- into even his run as an active legend. HBK vs. Taker didn't do too well at WrestleMania XXVI. There's also the issue of the talent he has gone out of his way to try and get one over. It's not as bad as, say, Triple H, but he's one of the worse offenders for a good period of time there. 2000-2002 were pretty dark times. And then when you get into his later career, I wonder how many people were actually turned off by the gimmick and a guy that old still being presented as a major attraction. You can't measure the money you don't make, but I do wonder how many people think it's kind of hokey the guy stuck around in a protected spot for as long as he did. Was it really the best for wrestling, as rewarding as it may have been for The Undertaker or fans of his (of which I consider Vince McMahon one of the biggest). Just some food for thought. I'm sure many will disagree with me. I know Destor ranks him quite highly. I just wonder if it ticked over to a point where you're only appealing to a certain type of fan. Which is what wrestling is right now, and he's certainly a bigger star than a bunch of non-stars. But maybe a world where The Undertaker's streak ends much earlier than it did in ours is actually a much healthier one? |

Wish i wasnt lazy but Billy Corgan was on Rogans podcast and he spoke about a brand being more than the dollars it can make at a given point in time but more about how enduring it is. And he was talking about music not wrestling. Still think it could ring true with both taker and the wwe.

I meant more about his previous accomplishments as opposed to now. He needs to stay out of the ring.

That being said, my point is just that I wonder how effective that branding is to the layperson. Coca-Cola could release another new flavored Coke and get everybody in house to talk about how delicious it is and keep it on the market for years and years and years and talk about what a staple of everybody's diet it should be, but at the end of the day they don't really get to dictate its success to the market. That's a really weird example, because Coke would very quickly do what they did with New Coke and scrap it. But that's sort of what I am getting at: Maybe Taker should have been scrapped like New Coke, but no one really talks about that because we all sort of buy into the in-house propaganda too much. First ballot Hall of Famer in a legit sense all the way, don't get me wrong. His longevity, significance (like Triple H, he's got to be considered significant even if you don't consider him effective) and the fact that his name is attached to some classic matches and moments will see to that. I'm just playing devil's advocate and looking at the case against Taker, which is a lot stronger than a lot of people around wrestling -- both inside the business and out -- really consider. |
Nope, its ok looking good, but that facade is gone 5 minutes into his matches when he's reaching for the oxygen tank. Maybe if he competed at 1991 Undertaker speed he could put on something decent without looking like he's seconds away from literally becoming a dead man.
|
If Undertaker comes out and chokeslams someone in a segment I suppose that would be 'ok'...but also not needed...WM33 felt like a good send-off.

I'd be pretty interested in Undertaker vs. Samoa Joe inside Hell In A Cell at WrestleMania.

I was thinking since at Mania 32 Taker left his gloves in the ring and last year he left his hat, jacket, and gloves in the ring, this year Samoa Joe could knock out the undertaker and strip him naked and rape him in the middle of the ring and leave his tights in the ring to symbolically signify the end of the deadman. This would absolutely make Samoa Joe and then he could be a fresh rival for Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar having also beaten Taker at Mania. Would also set up a Samoa Joe-Kane feud as Kane would seek revenge for Joe raping his brother in the middle of the ring in front of 75,000 people at WrestleMania. |
Well, if rape is involved - I'm in.
Would raping Undertaker be considered necrophilia? |
That would absolutely add a new layer into Samoa Joe's character. He could be what Bray Wyatt tries to be... until ultimately Samoa Joe could rape him too and maybe make him dress as a woman and be his valet. Perhaps that's where Bray could turn into Sister Abigail.

This coversation is silly. Taker should stay out of the ring. There is nothing for him at this point. Him losing at Mania doesnt help anyone any more and Him winning doesnt change anything either. Put him in the HOF and call it done |

I like and respect Taker...but I think his retirement should've happened a few years ago. He's one of my favourites, but his glory days are well behind him and more would only serve to tarnish his legacy.

I had my first ever rasslin dream last night and Braun destroyed taker in a minute at WM. Think I need to lay off wrestling if I dream about it.

It's not like there's a ton of better stuff to dream about.
