I'm trying to watch some fire ass matches on the Network tonight.

Who's got some lesser known sleeper hits for me?

Evil Vito 12-02-2017 12:23 AM

I watched Bryan vs. Ziggler from Bragging Rights 2010 earlier. Haven't seen it since the night it aired. Forgot how good that one was. Very early in Bryan's WWE run and back when Ziggler looked like he had the potential to be a huge deal.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 12:26 AM

Haha, dude, I was literally watching that like a month ago. Great match.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 12:28 AM

You know any NXT sleepers from like before the Cesaro/Zayn feud? That's when I started watching NXT "full time".

Any matches will do, though.

I watched all of Survivor Series 2002 today because they talked about it on Prichard's podcast, and that Jamie Noble/Billy Kidman match was super good.

My Final Heaven 12-02-2017 12:43 AM

Eddie Guerrero vs RVD, Ladder Match for the IC Title on Raw 5/27/2002

siiiiiiiick feud with both guys on top of their game, this is also the match where the fan tips over the ladder & Eddie goes apeshit. Post-match has a big pull-apart brawl with Benoit sneakattacking & Eddie hitting a frogsplash on Stone Cold just before he walked out of the company - I may have to check this out on the network to see how much they hacked it up for obv reasons

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 12:47 AM

Oh my god, stop. I was thinking EXACTLY about that match earlier and was about to look up the date. I remember watching live and some idiot ran in the ring. Definitely starting there. :y:

They show Benoit like it's no issue from everything I've seen.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 12:49 AM

Just turned on Raw. Skimming it to see what else was going on, then gonna watch that match.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 12:50 AM

Raw #470, for anyone playing along at home.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 12:51 AM

I think I went to a house show around this time and saw RVD v. Eddie in a cage match too.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 12:52 AM

Also, try to avoid spoilers in these suggestions if you can. Thanks all. :y:

My Final Heaven 12-02-2017 12:59 AM

Something to look up more as an oddity than for work rate -

Crush Girls vs Leilani Kai & Black Venus, Superstars of Wrestling - 4/12/86

Crush Girls were getting a tryout from Japan, & it was odd as Fuck seeing them try to fit into the WWF Women's mold of pearshaped Moolah trainees hitting 10 minutes worth of slowmotion hairpull takeovers.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-02-2017 01:00 AM

Check out the Hidden Gem section.

They don't have to be THAT hidden. I've watched a lot of that. I asking you guys. My internet friends. More like matches that maybe I had forgotten about.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:07 AM

I'd rather watch some lesser talked about good matches than some completely obscure no rope match with William Regal and Samoa Joe.

Evil Vito 12-02-2017 01:15 AM

Seeing Benoit's name in here.....Benoit/Raven from Souled Out 1998 was really good.

For a bonus, watch the 8 man cruiserweight tag right before it. Crazy WCW luchadore stuff in its prime.

Oddly enough the Jericho/Rey match on that same show isn't very good mostly cause Rey's knee was balky. They obviously had far better matches down the line.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:16 AM

Was that Halloween Havoc 98 when Raven and Jericho had that TV title match that opened the show and was really good?

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:17 AM

Goldust trying to join the nWo

My Final Heaven 12-02-2017 01:22 AM

Speaking of WCW in that era, Randy Savage vs DDP @ Spring Stampede 97

Really fun, well worked No DQ match with both guys hitting big spots all over the ringside area. I'm trying to think if good examples of "Gimmick" matches to showcase

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:25 AM

I never actually saw the Judy Bagwell on a Pole match. Should I just count my blessings?

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:26 AM

RVD is bumping like a madman in this ladder match.

My Final Heaven 12-02-2017 01:26 AM

Moar leik Judy Bagwell on a Forklift

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:28 AM

I was wondering about how they would have kept her up there.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:31 AM

If you're talking gimmick matches, not sure if you watch NXT, but that DIY v. Authors of Pain ladder match is fucking FIRE hot. Not super long ago, but really, really, really good.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:32 AM

Might have been the Takevoer before Royal Rumble? I don't remember.

My Final Heaven 12-02-2017 01:33 AM

There's dumb enjoyment in watching that just because it's Kanyon in the middle of his Positively Kanyon phase, he was a hoot in that kind of stuff
"Kanyon Cutters in the Parking Lot!"

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:34 AM

Man, what a fucking moron that jumped in the ring during that ladder match. He could've fucked Eddie up bad knocking over that ladder.

I guess he's immortalized on the Network now, though. Idiot.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:35 AM

There's a lot of WCW stuff I haven't seen because I would only watch the first hour of Nitro. Once Raw came on, I stayed there the whole time.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:35 AM

Might just go back and start watching Nitro from the beginning.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:37 AM

God damn, great call on this ladder match. Insane stuff here.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:39 AM

It's one of those matches where if a non-wrestling fan were like "how do you watch that shit?", I could put on and be like "how could you NOT watch this shit?".

Eddie beats the shit out of him, he was pissed - I thought it looked less like the security was trying to apprehend him than just trying to get him away from Eddie's latino heeeeaaaat

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 01:42 AM

Austin v. Eddie would have been a great feud if Austin had stayed and managed to keep his heart in it.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-02-2017 01:48 AM

Regal Vs. Cesaro NXT.

Was watching Cesaro and Zayn from the first Takeover a little while ago.

Yeah that one was really good. Totally an impromptu match too really. Wasn't announced ahead of time and both dudes were heels.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 02:11 AM

Just came across Daniel Bryan v. Jamie Noble on Velocity. Let's see what it's like.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 02:12 AM

I'm sorry, Bryan Danielson. Ernest Miller and Josh Matthews on commentary.

Evil Vito 12-02-2017 02:15 AM

Supposedly not long before Eddie passed, Vince was planning on following up the excellent HBK/Angle match from WM21 with HBK/Eddie at WM22. Basically Mania was going to be viewed as a way to get HBK dream matches from guys on the SmackDown brand.

God damn Eddie/HBK would've been so fucking good.

What a shame.

Also, Nidia had pretty cool boobs in 2003.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 02:18 AM

They're letting Bryan work here, this is not bad.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 02:24 AM

That match just took me to the beginning of NXT.

Then Kassius Onoo Vs. Regal.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 02:39 AM

That might be fun. Didn't really see much of Ohno's first run.

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 02:46 AM

What happened to Richie Steamboat?

That's unfortunate. He seemed pretty alright in 2012.

Bad News Gertner 12-02-2017 07:04 AM

Check out Johnny B. Badd vs Brian Pillman Fall Brawl 95.

People forget how good Mero was before he became Sable's bitch

Anybody Thrilla 12-02-2017 12:14 PM

I remember he had a confetti cannon. There's something to be said for that.

XL 12-02-2017 12:25 PM

Not really obscure but one I go back to now and again; Scotty 2 Hotty vs Dean Malenko from Backlash 2000.

That one does get brought up a lot, but I would say that this is about the appropriate level of obscurity I'm seeking.

KIRA 12-02-2017 01:31 PM

Kofi Kingston V Dolph Ziggler all of them

Check out some Japanese girls instead...try Io Shirai vs Meiko Satomura, Io Shirai vs Kairi Hojo, or Kairi Sane vs Meiko Satomura...those are maybe the three best girls matches I've ever seen.

Thank you. That match was tight. Murdoch busted out a Canadian Destroyer.

Bad News Gertner 12-04-2017 03:01 PM

Those teams had great chemistry together. They also had a great match on Raw

Mr. Nerfect 12-04-2017 03:08 PM

I miss Trevor Murdoch. I forget he exists, but then I remember him and think "God damn, I'd like to see him get another go."

Evil Vito 12-04-2017 03:12 PM

Trevor Murdoch is only 37 years old but he's been off of national television since 29. Weird. Would be all for him getting a chance to do something.

Anybody Thrilla 12-04-2017 03:18 PM

Hopefully this thread will dig up some old "Murdochs" for us, if you will.

Also, that was the first time I watched Mercury bust his face, and good lord, that was unfortunate as fuck.

Anybody Thrilla 12-04-2017 03:32 PM

MVP was pretty good.

Mr. Nerfect 12-04-2017 03:50 PM

I liked MVP at the time, but something about him annoys me in retrospect.

Mr. Nerfect 12-04-2017 03:51 PM

I even liked the attire and his Benoit matches. I just don't "feel him." Maybe it's because he ended up fizzling out and that kind of taints things going backwards?

Mr. Nerfect 12-04-2017 03:52 PM

Always liked Joey Mercury. Thought he was "smooth" in the ring. Surprisingly good as a talker too. Like, not a great promo by any stretch, but you could trust him to go out there and do stuff alright. Never going to be a main event guy, but worked really well in MNM as the veteran holding things together, and didn't look out of place working with guys like Batista and Rey Mysterio. I was genuinely really happy for him and Jamie Noble to get some focus in 2014/2015.

Anybody Thrilla 12-04-2017 04:08 PM

I thought J&J Security was great. Knoble is criminally underrated.

Anybody Thrilla 12-04-2017 04:09 PM

RVD vs Benoit @ Summerslam 2002

That Triple H/HBK Unsanctioned Street Fight though. Holy shit. That match absolutely blew my mind watching it that night.

DAMN iNATOR 12-17-2017 04:36 PM

I somehow got sidetracked in my efforts to watch RAW #478 the other night and instead watched RAW #566, which I believe was the start of Shelton Benjamin's 3-match winning streak v. Triple H on RAW. This was the first ep. after the 2004 WWE Draft, and I think the second or third of those matches was when v1 of "Ain't No Stoppin' Me" became Shelton's theme.
