Vince Mcmahon - XFL Reboot is happening
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">A WWE spokesperson issued the attached statement to me & <a href="https://twitter.com/Deadspin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@Deadspin</a> in response to my inquiry about tonight's rumors of a soon to be announced XFL revival. They declined further comment. Whatever Vince McMahon's "Alpha Entertainment" is, it's self-funded & separate from WWE. <a href="https://t.co/oT0Oxyi2fV">pic.twitter.com/oT0Oxyi2fV</a></p>— David Bixenspan (@davidbix) <a href="https://twitter.com/davidbix/status/941891430108233728?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 16, 2017</a></blockquote>

San Diego Shockers

Smart timing, but it wont work.
|
the fuck?
|
I'd be shocked if it doesn't fail as miserably as the original league. Assuming it gets made official next month, need at least a year or two just to build it and have a slightly better chance at avoiding the same problems that doomed the original league.
Only real bright side is maybe it means less time for Vince to constantly meddling in the WWE and can actually start improving overall for the long term. |
According to rumors going around, possible main reason for XFL's return is to cater to those boycotting the NFL and appease them by getting an official endorsement of the league by Trump.
Could explain why Vince wants to do this on his own and not involve the WWE in any way in case of potential controversies or negative backlash. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The rumor going around is that it's a counter to the protests etc.<br><br>I guess with the idea Trump endorse it on Twitter? <a href="https://t.co/OC0IQNjinH">https://t.co/OC0IQNjinH</a></p>— David Bixenspan (@davidbix) <a href="https://twitter.com/davidbix/status/941858858204622849?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 16, 2017</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
TheBradShepard also 'leaked' the Hall of Fame class for 2018 earlier...this/XFL will determine if he is 'legit' or full of it...

They should add Rod "He Hate Me" Smart to the HOF.
|
Vince in yet another outside "wrasslin" venture, another money losing shit-storm inbound.
|
I'd laugh if all the players get on their knee during the anthem.
|
Vince is out of his damn mind if he's thinking about bringing the XFL back.
Betcha Trump would back him if he eventually gets thrown out of office. |
|
This should be moved to the sports thread. XFL is not rasslin and DOES NOT belong here. Backyard rasslin gets DELETED, so this must go too. DELETE DELETE
|
They also recently re-trademarked 'He Hate Me' @Drebin
|
Vince sold 100 million of his WWE stock to help fund his new company....

He should not be allowed near any kind of hall of fame.
Unless there's a "White dipshits acting black" HoF. |

They should have Kid Kash come out and hit him with Dead Level.

I wonder if they could get Jim Carrey to show up and accept for Andy Kaufman if they inducted him.

WWE's stocks managed to lose around $2.34 of its value since Vince's announcement of the $100 million cash out likely to help fund the revival.
Even with him specifically stating he isn't giving away any control of the WWE, investors still seem a bit worried at him juggling both the WWE and XFL at the same time. Last time Vince ran the XFL, it wiped out an entire year's worth of WWE profits. |

All this talk about "acting black" really makes me dislike some of you.

Also, Limp Bizkit's song was better for Undertaker than Kid Rock's was. I'm pretty sure that's all Fignuts was saying.

Does Kid Rock actually act in any "stereotypical black" way other than rapping?
I'm pretty sure when people say he "acts black" they literally just mean "he raps". |
The way he talks, the way he dresses (blings, etc.)
|
What does acting black even mean

He's just a wigger. You must be faamiliar with the term, come on.
|
I'm familiar with the term...
|
Kid Rock raps. And he's also been known to wear basketball jerseys once in a while. Also, "bling". I guess that's what does it.
|
I love the turn this XFL thread has taken.

Kid Rock does not, nor has he ever "acted black".
Far from it. |
Kid Rock does have a black son though.
|
Probably borrow his clothes from him.
|
Does Kid Rock have bad credit?
|
He rhymes things with things in that "All Summer Long" song. Almost as good at the rhymes as Clark
|
Dr. Seuss acted black.
|
I have never heard a black person say bawitdaba, da bang, da dang diggy diggy diggy, said the boogie, said up jump the boogie.
|
Sixx, I'm familiar with all of those idiotic terms and concepts, yes. I just was hoping to avoid them.

I get the whole "acting black" being a shitty thing to say.
I'm saying even by the standards of people who do use the term, it doesn't make sense for Kid Rock. It's wrong on two levels. |

This is such interesting news. I imagine that Alpha Entertainment is probably going to dip its fingers into many different pots, but the football stuff is...intriguing and controversial. Vince thinks he can fill this gap, but is it really wide enough to even fuck?
I can also see him starting this sort of venture, because he's not the sort of guy who is going to be able to just "let go" of WWE. He's going to need to throw himself into something else. I also wonder if there is a bit of a "lightning rod" mentality here. Obviously he wants this to work, but when people talk about Vince McMahon, they're going to talk about the WWE. This is a way to kind of side-promote the WWE without really promoting them. Late night talk show hosts are going to be mentioning WWE far more now than they have had cause to for years, for example. |

new slogan:
XFL: The Impact of Football |
There isn't a market for this at all. It'll be like the USFL or XFL 2.0. It'll get a look from people the first couple of weeks and it will die a quick death
There's a reason why so many leagues have tried and failed miserably. If you want to watch pro football, you watch the best play it. The sports landscape is completely different from the wrestling landscape, which would benefit greatly with an actual #2 promotion. Football, baseball, basketball, it doesn't work. As history has shown us several times. |
Football is very vulnerable though. If ever there was a time this is it.
|
it's probably the right time. But Vince can't and won't execute.
|
Not arguing there
|
This is a different game. Literally and figuratively. This same discussion comes up every single time a new football league comes about. Not just a Vince McMahon-run one.
Again, in wrestling sure a second promotion starting up is great. In American sports it doesn't work. The whole "Americana" thing is football. White America watch the NFL. They're not going seriously going to switch over to XFL 2.0 because they stand for the anthem or some other bogus crap. All those people that "swore off" the NFL because of the kneeling have either come back to watch or never left in the first place. They won't jump over and watch far crappier talent just because they hold the American flag between plays. |
One of the biggest criticisms of the XFL was the talent was low/middle tier. You got sub-par football, with inexperienced players making sloppy plays. Unless Vince is willing to offer contracts that rival the NFL rookie contracts...keep in mind No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett will earn approximately $30,427,372 over his rookie contract with the Cleveland Browns, including a $20,259,698 signing bonus, no other football league will ever come close to the NFL

Vince must love losing money, it amazes me that he can't accept the fact that outside of wrestling he has had zero success, so periodically he does stupid shit like this to try and buff his ego...ultimately with failure and loss of money. Still no clue why he's referred to as a genius and an entrepreneur, his "genius" in wrestling was nothing more than buying everyone else out, which is hardly anything new. As for the entrepreneur side of things, yeah he tries other things which all flop.
