Use the voting link for picks this year. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NGWLMP7
Will still count the votes that don't use it but if you do both, just make sure your post also includes saying you voted using the online form. |
But then can't you just do both but pretend you only voted by posting it here and not saying you used the online form?
You get two votes that way. |

Next time we should just not post the categories in the thread to force people to use the link.
|
But then someone would just copy & paste the categories from the link into the thread and people would quote them and make their votes that way.
|
|
Small heads up for those that still want to vote. The company hosting the online ballot is doing maintenance starting at 8PM EST and supposedly won't end till 8AM EST.
Anyone that hasn't voted yet can put their picks here as a post during that time and I'll include it in the overall tally. |
After some tallying and cross-checking with votes done on TPWW itself, ended up with 26 total votes for the 2017 Sheety's. For some comparison, last year had 15 votes total.
Without further ado, here are the winner's of TPWW's 2017 Sheetys Awards: Best Rasslin Company of the Year WWE (12 votes, runner-up: NJPW - 7 votes) Worst Rasslin Company of the Year TNA/Impact/GFW/Impact (23 votes, runner-up: GFW - 2 votes) Best Rassler of the Year https://i.imgur.com/adYpBld.gif AJ Styles (16 votes, runner-up: Braun Strowman - 5 votes) Best Woman Rassler of the Year https://i.imgur.com/5WnTFZB.gif Asuka (12 votes, runner-up: Alexa Bliss - 8 votes) The Completely Not Rigged But Everyone Better Vote for New Day Tag Team of the Year https://i.imgur.com/34CawVo.gif Usos (15 votes, runner-up: Sheamus & Ceasro - 6 votes) Big E Appreciation Award https://i.imgur.com/gCs3zAj.gif Rusev (14 votes, runner-up: Elias - 5 votes) 2017 Best Wrestling Forum Poster named Shadrick http://www.tpwwforums.com/customavat...tar15262_1.gif Ultra Mantis (7 votes, runner-up: Shadrick & Destor - 6 votes each) Dumbest moment of the year Anthem's botch of the GFW-Impact merger (17 votes, runner-up: "Bayley: This Is Your Life" - 4 votes) Match of the Year https://i.imgur.com/XKrirZ0.png John Cena vs AJ Styles at Royal Rumble '17 (14 votes, runner-up: Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate at NXT TakeOver: Chicago & Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 11 - 4 votes each) Best Entrance Theme <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/E7oMBq1vkCM" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Glorious Domination" (9 votes, runner-up: "Root of All Evil" & "The Rising Sun" - 5 votes each) |
Good results. I called New Japan promotion of the year and voted something else for dumbest moment of the year, but in-line with how I voted. Oh, and Destor for poster not named Shadrick.
|
Thank you for taking the time to do this
|

I definitely voted for Ultra Mantis, so this is a good day.

fucking dickheads man

Don't see how AJ Styles vs Cena was match of the year. Dunne vs Bate was way better

AJ v. Cena definitely bore more pertinence.
|
Yeah, more emotional investment..... I'd watch a mediocre match that I am emotionally invested in over a great match that just happens.
|
And Styles/Cena was also beyond mediocre.
|
Yeah.... which makes it even better.
|
Edit lol
|
Watched Cena vs. Styles and Dunne vs. Bate. Much preferred Cena vs. Styles. Lost myself in that match. Dunne vs. Bate was good for the first ten minutes, then went into indy geek style. Bright futures for both lads though.

Cena vs Styles had one moment that kind of brings it down a small bit for me. Thevsuper attitude adjustment. They just repeated the spot and the kickout. It was a jaw dropping spot in the first match. While its still a cool spot, there was virtually no drama because logically you knew they werent going to finish on a spot AJ kicked out of in the first match. Its a small complaint, but when you're talking about matches of this calibur that kind of thing can make a difference.
Conversely, the first Omega/Okada match had a huge spot where Omega hits a top rope dragon suplex. In the rematch he goes for it again but instead of just doing the same big spot over again, Okada countdrs it. Its that kind of long term storytelling in feuds and matches that has attracted people to njpw, and its what they should have done in Cena vs Styles. |
Perhaps it's unfair to have WWE matches in the same category since 80% of the people here only watch WWE.
|
Styles vs. Cena was better though. Just saying.
|
All the matches were good and these awards are made up. Stop arguing. :(

Definitely talking about the RR match. Loved it. Felt the emotion coming from both men. Didn't see the SummerSlam match. Saw Okada/Omega I and felt it was overrated with spots that took me out of the action. It was like someone writing a novel with too many exclamation marks, or unnecessary verbosity. The missile dropkick to the back of the head? Pass. The dragon superplex? Hard pass. The back body drop through the table? Next. I can remember those spots, granted, but I don't remember the finish, nor do I remember feeling any particular love for goofball Omega. I was rooting for Okada, but that's because he's generally awesome.
There's probably a WWE-bias lens on here, because, to me, seeing AJ Styles wrestling at the RR in such an important match carries with it inherent emotional weight. But that's not something that I think you need to separate from a match when judging it. That's something kind of earned and carried by the cache of each performer and the event itself. AJ Styles is as close as you're going to get to a perfect performer in professional wrestling in 2017 or 2018, and seeing him work his magic in that environment was wonderful. Don't care about Omega nearly as much -- and that's because he hasn't made me care, and actively does things that make me switch off -- like goofy faces and switching off my emotions during that match in particular. The person saying that Omega vs. Okada series built in terms of psychology -- cool. I didn't watch the others. Didn't feel the urge to. Not because I'm a hater, but because I didn't get invested. I thought it was a great match overall -- don't get me wrong. Take out those dumb spots and it was...fine. I don't remember much about it. I remember it flying past for a 40-minute match or whatever. But Styles vs. Cena hooked me start to finish and had me wrapped around their fingers. So much better. I might even go back and watch it now. |
I might be overrating the psychology in Styles/Cena. It's been a while since I've seen it. I remember having no problems at the time and just enjoying the fuck out of it. And I was on a big psychology kick. Kind of felt like the psychology in Omega vs. Okada was non-existent. Things just happened because they can happen. They might have tried to tell a story when it came to the end. I remember them both being exhausted and just lying around trying to hit their finishes. It feels like the most rudimentary wrestling match plot, which is a good thing, but should also kind of be the bare minimum, you know?
