Bruno survived the Nazis, survived the death of much of his immediate family, and survived scarlet fever - all at the same time.

He and the rest of his family had to delay travelling to join their father in America after the war because Bruno was so small and sickly that they feared he wouldn't survive the journey - yet, after moving to the US in 1950, he almost made the Olympic weightlifting team in '56, and set the world bench press record in '59.

He was the archetype for Vince McMahon Sr's "ethnic babyface" model, and for the babyface champion formula that the WWE have followed more or less ever since. He was an inspirational figure for recent immigrants to America and, with all due respect to Dusty Rhodes, as fine an example of the ideal of the American Dream as I can think of. And a rare class act in a classless industry.

See, Heyman got banned for being a giant sack of shit. He posted in ABT's rep sheet something about his child and how he'll grow up fatherless. This was after a series of awful behaviour and he was finally banned.

Yeah, Bruno was known to tell some tales. I've seen all the attendance records and Bruno sold-out MSG around 47-48 times

Heyman got banned for being misunderstood. I definitely miss him being around.

I'm really curious about this Heyman poster now. A few people think I'm him. I'm not really sure why, other than the fact that we are both Vancouver Canucks fans of the NHL, but I can assure people that I'm not Heyman. Dastardly Dale Newstead has been leached on to my back like a spider, thinking that I am him, despite my constant denial of it. Like was he romantically in love with this Heyman guy or something? Doesn't make sense. I'd have no problem admitting to DDN that I'm Heyman so that he leaves me alone, but I'm starting to suspect that DDN is mentally unbalanced.....and that even a false admission on my part could lead to Dale being a danger to both himself and to others.

I don't think anything WWE did moved me more than putting Bruno in the Hall of Fame. Rejoining with their original lead baby face was the ultimate make good, and made WWE feel whole as a history. I didn't grow up with Bruno because when I grew up he was only mentioned in rare comments by certain commentators. WWF only cared to make video tapes dedicated to Hulkamania, the past was forgotten, as if WWF really began in 1984.

But when the internet came and you could finally see the first WWF legend's career, that was a blessing. Bruno was the man, and the same good man his entire life from what I read and hear. I respect Bruno so much for his career and character. Even in his final years he looked incredible for his age.
