These things are on sale on amazon right now for $200. Thats a tempting price point.

Crackdown, Tunic and Cuphead all look like theyre worth playing.

Alternatively i can spend considerably more and build a gamkng rig to play these games.

Im on the fence X Box owners. $200 is very cheap and i could easily be swayed.

So can anyone convince me its worth $200?

Controller feels great, UI is mostly organized, and all my buds are on Xbox Live.

I like the xbone controller as well. But i think all modern controllers are perfect. Joycons are the only current controller i dont like but the pro controller is ace.

I dont see the boon of having friends on one console or other. Especially for games like crackdown tunic and cuphead...

Probably depends on how you feel towards Microsoft's 1st party offerings and Xbox 360 backwards compatibility but for $200, seems like it would be a pretty good purchase.

Xbox One still has the problem of not matching the support the PS4 gets for exclusives and 1st party stuff but it does get all of the notable multi-platform games the PS4 gets. Alternatively a PC + PS4 combo does cover more gaming ground than a Xbox One + PS4 combo does though.

If you don't have a lot of friends on Xbox, and most of the games you are interested in can be played on your PC, than you're probably better off spending it on something else.

I do very little gaming that requires friends. If im gaming im probably am actively trying to be alone. Dont think people irl even know i game lol

Yeah its entirely possible. Only tough part is if you don't really care for most or all of Microsoft's 1st party stuff since then the options become a lot more limited than say on PC or PS4.

For me, it would be pretty easy to do since I barely play games on PC and outside of the PS2, don't really have any strong feelings towards the Playstation brand or Sony's 1st party stuff.

Examples of 1st party MS IPs?

Killer Instinct, Rare Replay, the Gears series, Halo series, Crackdown series, Forza series.

Guess Minecraft would count as well since they did buy out Mojang even if the game itself is more 3rd party in status.

Rare and crackdown both interest me heavily...

You can pretty much download the entire series with Gamepass. I might would even front your first month of it.

Gamepass is a sub service but usually offer all there exclusives (Day one available) overall they usually have about 100 games on there.

I bought an Xbox One S for 200 bucks and I enjoy it a lot. I would have prefered to get a PS4 for that price but that was the deal available to me and I took it. I don't care for online play as much so I don't really take advantage of that aspect. However I can say as an entertainment console is amazing. Everything that streams through my Xbox looks amazing, and the games that I do play I love. So I'd say if you don't have a PS4 then get it. But if you do, then you'd have to be really dedicated to gaming.

I have PS4 and the One. The one is just a cable box for all intents and purposes and pretty much the only gaming it sees is the occasional freebie from gold and my kids playing Roblox. That's not to say there weren't a few great games here and there.

I'd pick up Sunset Overdrive if I was you Destor. It should be dirt cheap now, especially if you find a used one at gamestop. I had a lot of fun with that one for sure. Gears 4 is pretty good too. If you like Halo there are those. And Forza, as much as I hate to admit it because GRAN TURISMO BAYBAY, is the premier racing franchise these days. The Dead Rising games if you didn't get them on PS are also excellent times. Ori and The Blind Forest. Rare Replay has some gems. You already are getting that though because Blast Corps is one of the best games ever and criminally underappreciated. Theres some others too but there is some for you to start looking at.

Blast Corps is the titties. I play it on an emulator all the time. It's strange that out of all the good games I had on N64 back in the day I miss Blast Corps the most. JUST ONE MORE LEVEL type game.

I wouldn't buy an XBOX one. I have one that I got on sale earlier this year and after 6 months, the controller broke and it appears to be a common issue called stick drift. I've BARELY played it, maybe have 20 hours tops on the console. Wish I had gone with a PS4.


Also didn't drop/throw the controller, it just stopped working properly and it seems to be a common issue.

Similar issue happened with some of the older PS4 controllers though. I have one that I never dropped or anything that for some reason when you pull the left trigger it causes the left stick to think it is moving even though it's not.

Garbage modern technology.


My 8 year old PS3 controllers still work like new, not even loose sticks.

So it came in today. Played a bit of rare replay (blast corps and banjo) and downloaded cuphead. Didnt play it though. Will play it after dad of war. UI is pretty jank vs 360. Im thinking there are some customization options im missing but i dont think ill use it much since ill use fire sticks for media and what not.

Legit complaint: after about 20 min my hand started killing me. Did some research and the controller has a steep bevel and for certain hand types its complementary and others its extreme discomfort. Oh well. I played for about 2 hours so its not the end of the world but im pretty disappointed after being told its the best controller around.

Switch pro is current gen king by like.. a silly ammount.

Looking forward to cuphead and looking for diff molded controllers

I'm gonna get Cuphead on Steam eventually, will never join you in getting an XBONE though. I don't even have enough free time to give the Switch as much attention as I should.

The switch has the same issue the Bone has and thats a lack of titles...switch is young though.

I feel you on the Xbox controller Destor. I tend to get hand cramps after awhile.

Disagree on the Switch pro controller being king though; Dual Shock 4 still wins it for me. It's a very close second though.

Added some xbox and 360 gems to my backlog to replay just to get some value out of this worthless console (KOTOR 1/2 and Lost Odyssey...also have Blue dragon...maybe I'll replay it...never finished it...)

Family uses ours for Youtube, Fallout 4, and a bunch of various games from the xbox library. My son played the Jurassic World game for a hot minute, so I think we got our money's worth over the past few years. Really my biggest issue is how these controllers will just fucking die after a while.

I haven't played Persona, and I generally have played first-person shooters on the Xbox. As far as Xbox exclusive stuff I don't pay attention to it.

I would suggest giving doom a second look. If there's any shooter that someone who is not big on shooters can have fun with, its Doom. Cheap too. Saw it for 15 bucks at Walmart yesterday.

I can't get enough of MSGV even though yes it is repetitive it is a repetition I really enjoy.
Feel the same about Witcher 3. Just downloaded For Honor, it's fun for a free game, beautiful but repetitive so far as I can tell. I really like Rise of the Tomb Raider. Do you have Game Pass? I think there are a lot of games that would benefit you there. I took like 4 months away from gaming so I canceled Game Pass. Now I'm looking at my available games and I'm like ... :eek::-\

I have a lot of games I haven't gotten very far in like Doom and Deus Ex Mankind Divided.

I will say that before I bought this Xbox I was going to buy a PS4 and not that I have major regrets but there are more interesting games for my style on PS4. I'm not a huge lover of FSP or Multiplayer/online play so yeah.

I was playing to buy Far Cry 5 but I haven't. I haven't gotten though Far Cry 4 but I really enjoy it, kind of stuck at the moment. Truthfully sometimes games get to hard for me and I just give up.

Excluding doom ive played everything you listed though. Tomb raider 1/2 were great (TR3 hype) witcher 3 was like a 200 exprience. Amazing. Among the best games ever.

MGS5 is a turd. Worse than the MSX metal gear games.

Classic feel, have played through both seasons multiple times, couple with the kids.

I also have Monkey Island 1 and 2 on Xbox.

Fallout 4 was/is really fun and aside from the fact that my son keeps downloading all the mods at the same time and making our saved games load extra slow, it's incredibly immersive but also gives the same kind of pleasure a good sandbox does.

I have the monkey island reboot. Doesnt capture the charm of the old ones but still a fun time

If you like classic adventure games, that are basically interactive story games I would also suggest Oxenfree and Layers of Fear. Both are on Games Pass which is on sale for just 2 bucks right now.

Also, Night in the Woods is another story game I really enjoyed. Really "charming" characters and dialogue.

Someone here posted that they hated it but that person is probably super gay.

It allows you to select either version though. Like you can play the classic version or the updated one.

Oxenfree was okay I guess. Layers of Fear was really trippy and really confusing. I don't know what the hell I did right or wrong with that...I don't think it counts as a game.

Its a love it or hate it game I guess.

Yeah, those walking simulator, interactive story, whatever you want to call them are fun little diversions but they don't offer enough content to justify the price at release.

That said they're fun and interesting enough to check them out when they go on sale or hit game pass.

Recently got back into gaming after a hiatus. Feeling like this thread has awakened my frustration with XBox titles! Damnit! Considering Monster Hunter. Waiting for Red Dead 2 for sure. Also the Tom Clancy game is 20 bucks, but I dunno.

I didnt like MHW but objectively its good. Im not big into multiplayer andnthe game doesnt shine well solo. I had been told you could play alone and you can but its very neutered that way.

Monster Hunter International is a good book series.
