Hulk Hogan reinstated to WWE HOF.

STAMFORD, Conn. — After a three-year suspension, Hulk Hogan has been reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame. This second chance follows Hogan’s numerous public apologies and volunteering to work with young people, where he is helping them learn from his mistake. These efforts led to a recent induction into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Alumni Hall of Fame.

Welcome back Hulk!

Maluco 07-15-2018 04:00 PM

If he has really worked to redeem himself and is genuinely repentant and has learned from his behaviour, no reason why he shouldn't be allowed back in. Stupid comments and am sure many fans were let down by them, but hopefully he has learned and become a better person because of it all.

He is a living legend, so nice to enjoy him while he is still around.

I believe all the wrestlers that have gone to bat for him speaks volumes. A guy as well respected as Booker T has nothing to gain by doing so, yet he did, and that means something.

The fact is the dude did say racist things at the low point in his life, kid in jail, getting divorced, ect. That is not excusing the behavior, but he was punished by WWE keeping him away for 3+ years.

I think that, along with all the charity work he has done, the fact that he owned up to it, and seems truly remorseful, I don't think you punish him forever.

It really doesnt, you can't erase history with symbolic gestures.

Yeah Reggie Bush got some money, but just cause the NCAA says nobody won the Heisman in 2005, Reggie Bush won it. I remember, he has an amazing year.

Hulk Hogan dropped a couple N Bombs about one person He hated. He hates one person who he choose to use a vile racist slur about to convey his hatred.

Had he called the guy a dickhead, nobody would have cared. Alas, that isn't what he said.

The GOAT is on his way back! Gonna add some actual star power to the shows and make them seem like a big deal. Let him take the title off Lesnar and hold it for a year without ever defending it. FUCK IT.

Emperor Smeat 07-15-2018 11:26 PM

Not surprised considering its been rumored ever since he got kicked out that Vince wanted him reinstated as soon as possible and didn't really want to do it in the first place.

The real test is going to be when he inevitably shows up on tv or at an event and how big the backlash it generates.

Mr. Nerfect 07-16-2018 03:13 AM

This is something that was inevitable and isn't something I've been particularly interested in, but now that it's been announced I just think "Gross" and it feels like more of a reason to just not give a shit about this promotion.

Dave Meltzer notes that Hogan apologized to everyone for the racist rant that led to Hogan being fired from WWE in July 2015. Meltzer added that there were wrestlers cheering for Hogan and congratulating and hugging him.

PWInsider first reported the details of Hogan's apology. They wrote that Hogan reminded everyone to always think about what they're saying and that, in today's day and age, "they have to remember that there are always cameras everywhere and they could be recorded even when they don't realize they are."

Something about the reactions comes off as a bit weird. Like something you wouldn't actually expect to be that festive in tone but then again, WWE made it weird to begin with how they mishandled things.

Even one of the main lessons from his speech feels a bit off going by PWI's part. Like its great that he apologized and realized his error but also sort of blamed the camera for being outed as a racist instead of having those views to begin with.

Mr. Nerfect 07-16-2018 03:38 AM

It reminds me of the David Cross joke "First of all, I forgot them microphones was on..."

It's just more PR hippy-dippy bullshit. "He's learnt his lesson. He won't ever say those things publicly again. Now we can all be a happy family...or else." Like, what is a black roster member supposed to say? If they're cool with it -- good for them, I guess. If they're not, are they really going to go up to Vince and Triple H and say "I don't like this"? It's got that "hands-tied, play ball" feeling to it. And let's not pretend that there was an actual suspension or that this is part of some ongoing process of healing. They distanced themselves and now they want him back because they have no real stars.

It's got that Saudi propaganda feeling to it, and just like that, I do hope it blows back in their face at some point, just because I am now actively root against this company.

Bad News Gertner 07-16-2018 08:44 AM

Rammsteinmad 07-17-2018 08:19 AM

I can't believe for a second that Hogan did any charity work without any ulterior motives, such as, y'know, cleaning up his public image.

Mr. Nerfect 07-17-2018 08:26 AM

I don't think Hogan has ever done anything without ulterior motives.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-17-2018 08:28 AM

it's weird. There's nothing about him that screams "upstanding individual" but many people laud his loyalty and kindness.

He's likely a deeply complicated man with positives and negatives... one of the main negatives being he's a fucking racist lmfao.

Mr. Nerfect 07-17-2018 08:40 AM

I think it's largely nostalgia filtered through platitudes. And there's always been something endearing about the guy. You can't deny his charisma. And there's something "lost puppy" about him. You don't think of him as an actively malicious guy. Then it turns out he's awful and it's like...fine. I mean, wrestling is full of awful people, just like any medium. I just don't see why you'd bring him back. It's not like he can even participate in angles and such. The only role is an ambassador and he's kind of fucked that up with certain demographics that should be very important.

I don't really blame Hogan for trying to get the money he can. I'm more annoyed at the WWE for the faux-PR bullshit. Of course it's what they're going to do, but I just can't support a promotion that so obviously couldn't give a fuck.

Hogan will still be more over than the entire roster put together.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-17-2018 08:42 AM

It's kind of hard to completely abandon the guy whose back you built your company on. For business reasons and for loyalty reasons (probably more the former than the latter).

Mr. Nerfect 07-17-2018 08:45 AM

Yeah, but at the same time, what have you done for me lately. I guess we're about to find out...

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-17-2018 08:48 AM

Well I think the "lately" is the fact that there is a lately. Plus, his presence in one way or another, particularly if leveraged correctly, generates some kind of buzz. Esp. with the faux redemption narrative they're pushing.

The problem herein lies...no one just 'drops a couple N Bombs'. If he said it then, he clearly says it regularly when he's comfortable and not aware that he's being recorded. You can't say it's akin to calling someone a dickhead either. Dickhead isn't racially driven. The other thing is.

I was never a Hogan fan and I think that all of this makes him sound like a bit of a piece of shit. Even still, I'm not outraged that he's in the WWE hall of fame. It's a bizarre business, and I'm sure there are countless others that have done far, far worse without being outed.

I'm just going to chalk Hogan up as the, err...dickhead that I already assumed he was and hope that he doesn't try to wrestle again. I just like wrestling.

That sounds ludicrous, but with the WWE's mission to gain more and more mainstream attention, and their active mentality to be as shitty as possible, this sort of negative perception is going to get more and more prevalent. Reinstating an open racist, taking Saudi money as they lock up women for daring to drive and executing homosexuals, promoting their female talent as equal and then paying them less, treating their black talent like two-dimensional caricatures, them not having a union, etc. This is a shitty, shitty company. They have a history of being shit. Someone pointed out a history of tasteless things they have done like that proves a point about the newer stuff. Okay? More and more people are going to get wind of that.

Sure, a lot of them are clueless about the product. This isn't something people with taste watch. It's awful television with plot-holes out the ass. We're a particular brand of nerd and we hate it a lot of the time. They're going to say things that sound really dumb to wrestling fans, but in the broad strokes they are going to be completely correct -- WWE is pretty cunty for hiring back an open racist in order to milk a quick buck from its fly-catching fan-base. They are planning more Saudi propaganda shows. Charlotte Flair is probably not paid as well as Randy Orton despite being more crucial to the WWE's crucial story arcs of 2018 and probably 2019.

And that perception can become toxic for advertisers and investors. Maybe not a large scale right away, but social progression has seen businesses drop relationships with the NRA in recent months, and animal rights has led to the closing down of at least one major circus. If enough people say "Fuck it, we're not going to buy Snickers as long as Hogan is employed by WWE," that could soon turn into "Fuck it, we're not going to watch anything on USA or FOX for as long as they keep television deals with Vince McMahon." Consumers are active agents and if the perception of WWE is "Fucking gross, who would support this awful company?", well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Mr. Nerfect 07-17-2018 02:18 PM

WWE has gotten away with it for so long because no one gives a shit about wrestling.

It's a cute idea, but the WWE doesn't program for heat anymore. Lashley would "respect" Hogan for costing him the title.

Emperor Smeat 07-17-2018 02:42 PM

Pro Wrestling Sheet speculating/teasing WWE probably is considering the idea of ending SummerSlam with Lashley defeating Lesnar for the Universal title and Hogan coming out to raise his hand. Idea being to celebrate the 1st ever black Universal champ and help rehab Hogan's image.

WWE claiming Hogan's apology was not filmed nor was the whole thing staged just for a future Network special.

According to Mark Henry, not all of the locker room was receptive to Hogan being back. Around a 50-50 split with African American stars on the roster and some furious with WWE's decision.

Meanwhile Jerry Lawler claims WWE should have never removed or suspended Hogan to begin with and instead blamed "PC Culture" for making this into an issue.

I wish they had Big E beat Jinder for the title at a house show and then lose it back the next day just so it would be quiet and there wouldn't be a huge "first black WWE champion crowned" story.

I love Jerry Lawler as a performer, but I'm pretty sure he's been party to some racist shit in Memphis. And to paraphrase the man himself "The worst part about dating a younger woman is when you have to drop them off at school."

Mr. Nerfect 07-17-2018 02:52 PM

WWE won't do the first black Universal Champion thing. They'll have Lashley win the belt, sure, but they'll present him as another in a long line of proud black WWE Champions. The Rock, Mark Henry, Bobby Lashley, R-Truth (we can pass him off as a former WWE Champion, right?), Finn Balor (black Irish is a thing, right?) and Bobby Lashley. Meanwhile Booker T sits on the panel talking about how jacked he is.

Sixx 07-17-2018 03:00 PM

Why does everyone call The Rock black? :(

He's caramel.

He's pretty much a ticking time bomb of when, not if, his scandals are going to get exposed big time. If he's lucky, the avalanche happens after he's dead like with Moolah and her pimping scandals.

that... does not embed well at all, but if you click on it you'll get a statement from the New Day collectively about Hogan's reinstatement. a tl;dr is basically "he should be in the Hall of Fame because his importance to wrestling is undeniable, but on a personal level we haven't forgotten what he said and unless it becomes clear to us that he's changed in a meaningful way we're not planning on associating with him any time soon."

Very well said/written IMO

Kofi is v wise and that's about as cool and calm a 'fuck you' he could have given without outright saying it.

Well, Rocky Johnson is his father. Just spitballing here, but maybe that has something to do with it.

Only thing about new days statement i dont get behind is basically seperating black people as "our people." That is creating and encoraging a divide/division. We need to start teaching ourselves as humans and as one people. Would have been just as easy to explain hohans acism without further dividing people.

The human race has been divided since the beginning because humans are tribalistic. Problem isn't with people distinguishing themselves into groups but rather viewing other groups as lesser and subjugating them.

Ezra 07-18-2018 11:43 AM

We just need to all come together as one maaaannnn

Join the human race.

Vinny Mac wasn't at Extreme Rules either, very rare...

Maybe Vince is finally smart enough to realize he doesn't need to attend the shows since they're basically all just "throw some guys out there to have a match and draw the winner out of a hat."

slik 07-18-2018 01:19 PM

Maybe he's working on the XFL and testing how HHH/Steph do 'running the show' without his presence

Heisenberg 07-18-2018 02:10 PM

Let's assume that Robert of Lashley has the cojones to live promo on the issue, brotherjackDUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read that Hogan is going to return with the NWO, this time it will just be "NWO White's ONLY" Not NWO Black & White.

More as this story develops.

Then the "NWO Red" will come and accuse NWO Whites of stealing their land.
