Aquaman to end the year, then this and Wonder Woman next year. Hopefully it's a positive step for them. At least it's not super serious super dark business

I hope I said that before any critics get in there with it.

That transition where he jumps off the building and gets hit by lighting/turns to Shazam is pretty sweet.

It all looks great. I'm surprised because it honestly looks to be the best DC movie by a fair way and I bet, like me, the general public knows/knew nothing about the character until now.

I am hoping it can be as good as Aquaman and continue an upward trend for DC

This year is gonna be so packed with movies.

And agreed, this looks fun. The bit at the end of the trailer where he attempts to jump over the building and crashes through the window made me chuckle. Possibly the first time I've ever found something from a DC trailer funny.

They just aren't going to focus on them all being connected in the future as much and focus more on each movie. Sequel for Aquaman announced for a couple years down the road, Wondy sequel comes out this year, Flash film still likely too. Birds of Prey filming. Bats will be a story about young Bats and Suicide Squad will be a different cast of characters than the first film using a James Gunn script.

The DCEU was supposed to be essentially their MCU. If they're not sharing canon it is not a coherent universe which only works in that sense. Call it what they want ("World of DC" or whatever) but the DCEU as advertised is about dead without some effort to create a living universe. They're still making movies of course and certain characters will splinter off into their own canon which is fine - but DCEU is done.

I think they'll just be happy to have a couple of not-shit films tbh

At this point yeah. Fortunately Aquaman was good and Shazam seems enjoyable so far. WW84 should be cool. I sincerely hope Birds of Prey is good.

Will be weird if Shazam is DC's best film. Then Marvel can suggest DC had to take a character who should be called Marvel to do it.

Social Media Embargo has lifted for Shazam and it's overwhelmingly positive, many calling it the best/2nd best movie DC has ever made.

I bet it is the best. It appears to have some extra humanity thrown in for good measure.

That depends if you are counting The Dark Knight or not.

I don't know where you'd get that idea from.
I'm a pretty big Batman, Bale and Nolan fan separately so having the all together was a pretty big deal.

The Dark Knight is nowhere even close to my favorite superhero movie. Because it’s not really a superhero movie. It’s a crime drama with superhero elements.

I absolutely respect the quality of the film, and the performances within it, but when it it comes to superhero movies I love it when it’s literally what’s on the page, come to life. That’s not what the Nolan trilogy is.

It had 100% on Rotten Tomatoes earlier but has now leveled around 93%

My cousin had the book of Kazaam with a big picture of Shaq on the cover.

The book of Kazaam... I mean come on... It was like 50 pages long in large print.

That's how I know Mandela didn't get to me, I'll never forget the day I saw that book. I was immediately drowning in unanswerable questions.

Saw it Saturday. My favorite DCEU movie. The most fun I've had watching a DC film in theaters.
