How times have changed, back in the day of the Smackdown games a thread would have been made for the next game as soon as the old one was released.

Anyway here to discuss how bad Tyler Bate looks. Also due to my kids never playing 2k18 but continuing to play the Smackdown V Raw games on the PS2 I don’t think I will be picking it up till it goes cheaper

I hope they have a new assortment of legends for this one. keeping bret hart in it of course.

They should do a special early to mid 90’s Legends roster and include Bastion Booger , Max Moon, The Portuguese Man Of War, 123 Kid, Fake Razor and Diesel, IRS, Isaac Yankem, the list goes on.

I hope they finally put Adrian Adonis in it. Keeping him out is just disgraceful.

No way I'm getting this. Been burned one time too many by this franchise.

Anyway they did the first installment of the roster reveal, going through the Raw roster and most of NXT.

Only active members of the Raw roster to not make it into the game were Bobby Lashley and Mike Kanellis. Lashley will be DLC probably. Kanellis...wow. It shows how irrelevant he is when there are gonna be like 200 characters in this and even Oney Lorcan got into the game over him.

They did not improve the crowd reaction for the NXT arena from the 2K18 game. It is so stupid.

That crowd sounds terrible , hopefully they sort it for when it comes out.

It shows that after a month of being out the game always end up on sale, it’s usually half price just before Christmas.

I remember as a kid going to the shop the day before the release date of the Smackdown games trying to get them to sell me a copy. There would be loads of kids in there trying to get them to do the same thing.

I have 2k18 for PC. It runs like shit with my graphics card, but I do enjoy it. Still have a lot to do in it though, so I'll be skipping this one.

It's because the game has bare minimum changes annually that they don't really need to sale a lot of copies. Also this is the only WWE main series for two console generations. Even when the competition was in-house, you can see the sibling rivaly between Aki and Yukes. And of course Anchor and Acclaim gave their shots. Now? Like Madden the entire market is bottlenecked for guaranteed sales enough to do it again.

Hate to say it but WWE 2k needs to bomb one year. Bomb hard enough to make them take a year off to make a game from scratch.

If you play online, then you gotta get it every year as soon as the next game drops. How long of a layover do you have before the servers don't support the previous game anyway?

The online competitive community is insignificant. Fringe, even. The big draws aren't it's multiplayer, not anymore. Even here you guys will go on about some single player mode for three pages before anyone mentions combat balance. It's like this everywhere, I checked.

WWE won't let them. 2K Games tried to do something similar a year or two after they got the license but couldn't because of some terms in the deal. Pretty much are forced to release a game on time each year or risk their WWE license.

Since then, 2K Games became more lazy with their handling of the license and realizing its not worth the effort nor the money to do the drastic changes needed. Also realized why THQ never bothered to drop Yukes since they are a very cheap and reliable developer for pumping out yearly games.

I used to love the daily SmackDown Countdown on IGN. 1 roster reveal a day.

I also remember when I was at Uni, walking into town on a Thursday morning with a stinking hangover to get the latest game a day early.

Good times.

I mostly did create a story mode and made super characters to try to see what insane stuff i could pull.

Then I moved to efedding and simulation wrestling which is mostly online.

It's lifespan is two games.

So basically WWE2k17 which was released two years ago will have active servers till around the time this game drops. That includes online muitiplayer, user creations, etc.

Raw and NXT rosters announced last week, SmackDown and 205 this week.

Interestingly...Ciampa, Kendrick, and Nikki Cross who were all in last year have not been announced.

One more reveal next week though so they might be randomly sprinkled in with legends.

I can't stand the engine for this game. A far cry from the Smackdown games and of course No Mercy. I plated 2k17 for about a day and then deleted it, couldn't find enjoyment in it.

Apparently Lana hates the in-game model that 2K Games and Yukes decided to use for this game. Wouldn't be surprised if others have hated their in-game models for years but never bothered to speak up about it.

Best part was it got revealed afterwards that 2K Games and Yukes lifted the design from a parody poster by the WWE.

What a world where fucking Lana can potentially force the games to take midcard models seriously.

At least she has a 70 rating and not a 30 rating....

Are WWE games still boring wrestling simulators where you have to hold select after doing 5 punches?

Not sure what Lana's problem is, she looks pretty good... and that rating is generous at worst....

There are Adam Cole CAWs in 2k18 that look better than his actual model in 2k19. What a joke.

The next roster reveal is today. The theme is apparently "Never Say Never".

As in, I am never buying this game.

i bought 2K16. First 2k game i've ever played. it was fun for a few days with the Austin mode. after that, the career mode is horrific and i got bored with everything else fairly quick

I haven't bought a 2k game since the one with the CM punk mode so ill assume its better than that

Today's reveal is legends-based.

So it appears that Tommaso Ciampa, The Brian Kendrick, and Nikki Cross have in fact been left out of the game.

Excuse me did you just say Tommaso Ciampa will not be in the game? @WWEGames is going to get blocked by Tommaso Ciampa.

The theory is that Ciampa, Kendrick, and Cross were all off TV for long periods of time around the cutoff (which is before Mania season).

But all 3 were in the game and are still with WWE so it's kinda ridiculous that they wouldn't get ported over.

I mean, I get Kendrick, but Ciampa had been making appearances since the rumble, and had a match at mania. And they had to know he'd be back around that time.

It was probably wwe's decision as I believe the roster is mainly up to them.

I don't even get Kendrick. Yeah he was hurt but the 5 dudes that were left out from the cruiserweight division last year (Gulak, Ali, Dorado, Nese, Daivari) all got in and several of them weren't being prominently used or anything. Why pull out Kendrick just because he was hurt for a few months?

It's not like they thought he wasn't coming back or that they were on a tight roster crunch.

Wouldn't be surprised if at least Cross and Ciampa got withheld so 2K and/or Yukes would have something interesting for DLC packs. Same for British Strong Style and Moustache Mountain both lacking Trent Seven in the game.

so they added The Million Dollar Man and Rowdy Roddy Piper for two new legends all the rest are same as last year's.

I'm pretty sure they don't even consider the care how the in-game combat works anymore and this year's Stunner is probably the worst since Just Bring It. And there's some kind of big head mode?

So besides the usual character models complaints and the laughable Lana model incident, 2K Games and/or Yukes even managed to botch stating what's included in the Season Pass and DLC in general for the game.

Still charging to edit stats I see.

Waiting for them to offer it free one year and act like they're Christ reborn for doing so.

It can't even be a space issue, either - not one single person gives a fuck that Brutus Beefcake or Greg Valentine are in the game.

The Ciampa/Kendrick/Cross omissions are really just ridiculous. It's just baffling that they'd go out of their way to get everyone from Oney Lorcan to Bianca Belair to Ariya Daivari to the Street Profits to Tony Nese into the game yet with Lio Rush who barely was on NXT and Mike Kanellis who is never used as DLC yet they'd leave out three people who are still on the roster when they had base models for them already.

2K Games pretty much pulls this stunt every year where they supposedly scour popular wrestling sites and/or Creation Suite, find out who are the most talked about or fan made NXT stars, and then pull them out from the current year's game either to sell as DLC or as "new characters" for next year's game.

This year its Nikki Cross while last year it was Dakota Kai who got the same treatment.

If they have Johnny V I give some fucks to Greg and Brutus being in the game. They won't/don't. So, fuck em. Dream Team denied.

Story mode has voice acting, my career looks overhauled, as does creation mode.

I’ve either purchased the game when the price drops or not at all over the last few years. Closer to the latter this year. With RDR2 out the same month I’d sooner invest in that.

Took an hour for the game to end up crashing on them.

Big Head mode looks pretty fun but performance-wise, doesn't seem Yukes fixed the lingering bugs the series has had for years. Also very minimalist for menus and stuff in terms of design.

I pre-ordered the digital version and it's been the biggest fucking nightmare I've ever gone through for a video game. Trying to redeem the code I got gets me "the voucher is no longer valid" and I can't get any help from Sony Best Buy 2K or anyone else..they all keep saying the code is valid on their end and best buy blames 2K 2K blames best buy and Sony hasn't responded back to me

I only ever buy digital and never have this issue. Get the platform currency and redeem in the marketplace. Don't get codes from any store ever.

Then Now and Forever video has been updated in recent weeks in WWE. Not as glaring as Sawyer Fulton being in the game from last year.

Every wrestling game ever released has been outdated on release. Why do people always comment on this still, like its unexpected.

If I remember correctly, its mostly due to WWE not helping out or telling Yukes and/or 2K Games anything ahead of time. Outside of some rare exceptions like Benoit's death or Big Show getting removed from WWF No Mercy, Yukes pretty much is kept in the dark the majority of the time.

Like WWE could have easily sent 2K Games an advance copy of the new opening video to add in late in the game's development or as a Day 1 patch but refused.

Why was Big Show taken out of No Mercy?

Pretty sure he's cool with WWE again but a few black Superstars are being babies about it so they're saving the 'public' amends for later.

Still doesn't have his Legends contract back and 2K Games didn't bother making a separate deal for him like they did for Warrior.

Big nose mode specifically for HHH and customised ring canvas piercing physics would have been an interesting addition.

Still tempted to buy this today even knowing it’s a glorified enhancement pack not worth £50.

Apparently the Million Dollar Challenge mode has a bug in it since its possible to beat someone in the gauntlet and not have it count in the end.

Gonna wait for it to go to 20 quid before Christmas.

I got 2k18 for the kids when it came last year but it’s telling that they preferred to play raw vs Smackdown 2006 instead.

Don't know why but I ended up getting this. I'm sure I'll get my money out of it, even if it's for the Creation suite.

At least it's somewhat better than 2K19, if still far from great.
