I thought Ronda was a big part of them getting so much money from FOX.

I speculate this means she has a multi-year deal for her likeness to be used in things like WWE2K and merch, but her in-ring deal was only 1 year.

I can’t see her going anywhere.

Yeah the TMZ thing just cites Pro Wrestling Sheet as their source... and Pro Wrestling Sheet says that Rousey told WWE at around Survivor Series that she was going to take time off to start a family after WrestleMania... So she is gonna be out for at least a while... Also Meltzer said she will probably have a part time role like The Undertaker or something still

Taking a break is one thing, Dave made it sound like she'd be done outright.

Yeah he did word it weirdly... He basically said she was "finishing up" with WWE but then later says, "She will probably remain affiliated with the company afterwards. It’s certainly possible for her to have a role like Undertaker or John Cena or others where she comes back at times."

I always expected she'd eventually become a part-timer and just work the big shows. Frankly I thought that's what she was going to do right out of the gate so I give her credit for working close to a full schedule this past year.

If Ronda is only full-time for a year it does make perfect sense why she got the belt so soon. My only fear is they will do a triple threat at WM and have Charlotte pin Becky clean now. Crowd would be 'hostile' ala Roman Reigns WM matches.

Dave literally said she was done w/ WWE at WM and the plan was she always would be done at WM35. Later he says maybe she could come back but multiple people told him she is done at WM35 or the B show after it.

WWE then issues press release disputing and discrediting that via TMZ, a media outlet they prefer to work with often.

I really couldn't care less. I know I'm still living in 2001 but I really don't care about any of the women wrestlers. I barely care about anyone in WWE at the moment, let alone a forced-down-our-throats revolution.

Been pretty much an open secret since maybe last year's Mania that Ronda never had any real plans to be a full-timer in the WWE. She wanted to be a wrestler after her career in UFC was over because she's a big fan of wrestling but also as something to do before settling down to start a family.

If I had to guess, she probably takes a break till SummerSlam or right before the next NFL season starts since FOX will likely want her around to help promote Smackdown's move to their network. Any longer of a break and I could see FOX get somewhat upset since they made the tv deal under the assumption Ronda would be around for Smackdown's debut on their network.

I hope Ronda does not go. I really like her. Her promo's need a bit of a fine trim, but her in ring work is amazing. I actually cant wait for her and Sasha to go at it.

Ronda has said outright that she has never had this much fun in her life. She is I believe only 31, so it's not like biologically she is out of time. There is still big money in the horsewomen feud, as well as the follow-up when the other 3 turn on her. Shayna vs Ronda feud would be really good, as they could amp up the physicality.

Ronda might take time off, become part time, or go on maternity leave, but she isn't leaving WWE.

31 might not seem biologically out of time, but she's put her body through a lot. She may want to be able to play with her children as they grow up. You add up all her training and real fights and WWE bumps and her body has taken a toll. I think it probably counts when you raise a child late in life.

According to Meltzer, WWE might consider "freezing" Ronda's contract if she does end up taking a break for whatever reason. Right now her deal currently expires in April 2021.

Yes I agree. Also I just want to point out that it's so amazing how Ronda showed up at The Rumble and at this point is one of the best workers in the division. Her growth was incredible. If I were WWE I'd do whatever I could to keep her around in the future even if that means giving her a rest for now.

I am sorry, but Meltzer just makes educated guesses, is wrong more times than not, then just says that things changed. That does not make him any more of an insider than anybody else.

I dont get why people get so upset about his star ratings. It's literally just one persons opinion of a wrestling match. It's no different than you or I giving our opinion, but people get so bloody upset about his opinion. It's ridiculous when you stop and think about it.

Like I Love JBL. He's my favourite wrestler of all time. Now if someone says a match of his sucks, it's fine because we all dont have the same tastes, plus wrestling is subjective. It's such a dumb thing to get upset about.

My favourite podcast (Between the Sheets) picks a year corresponding with whatever week it currently is and goes through the dirt sheets and talks about what happened, didnt happen, etc.... Dave gets some whoppers wrong. Currently listening to 1988 feb.27-mar.5 and Meltzer is talking about DiBiase being the guy who's winning the title at WM4 lol

I hate the idea that people shouldn’t win the belt because they don’t NEED it. Most over guys don’t NEED the belt. You put it on them to make it mean something. Otherwise you end up with titles that no one cares about because you’re throwing them on guys who don’t amount to anything. Like WWE has done since the brand split.

Like... Brock sure as hell doesn’t NEED the belt. But if you wanna drive home the point that it’s something worth winning, why would you not put it on him?

In WWE's fast paced enviornment, with weekly tv and 15 ppv's a year, it just doesn't have the effect that fan is talking about for me.

Brock having the belt doesn't make me care about it more. It just makes me not care.

She's also not scheduled for any more house shows after next week or two.

I'd assume if not now, then within the next couple of weeks in order to get stuff for Mania based on past taping routines.

I think that speaks more against WWE producing too much “A-level” content than Brock not being around every week. I’d rather the champion be credible and used as a special attraction than be on TV every week, losing non-title matches constantly and making it look like anyone can be champion.

Pretty much all due to WWE's poor handling of Lesnar and the Universal belt itself. Lensar comes off as just a lazy crutch for Creative and the belt has almost no prestige because its been neglected way too much.

Had they kept the "Final Boss" aura he had for a while, then all you really need is for him to just show up at monthly PPV events to maintain the mystic of his appearances. Use the weekly tv time to build up his challengers into worthy and credible threats while having Heyman remind those foolish enough of their impending doom.

Instead they just half-assed things like they always do and then wonder afterwards why people stop caring about Lesnar and the belt. Same for the lack of big stars they have made using the belt.

People can’t tell the difference between a journalism and a journalist’s opinion. To differentiate that becomes too hard and scary. Meltzer makes a lot of guesses, but he says when they are guesses. When he “knows” something, it’s very different. And he undoubtedly gets a lot of info, and people just ignore that because it isn’t convenient, yet put weight on things that he didn’t even claim to know.

One that always comes to mind is the Fingerpoke of Doom. Meltzer was reporting that there was a plan between Bischoff, Hogan and Nash to put the belt on Goldberg, move it to Nash and then have Nash hand it to Hogan in, like, June ‘98. Nash says shit like “I wasn’t even the booker” and Bischoff says Meltz doesn’t know anything. Yet look what fucking happened.

You don’t get to play the “this guy knows nothing” card when someone clearly knows something.

WWE actively tell you that you should be bored of Brock’s title reign. It’s insanity. Instead of hyping him up as the defining icon of this era, they have their “heroes” slag off his work ethic. You know when he does work? When he suplexes these “heroes” all over the ring, after they’ve called him a coward, proving that he’s absolutely not, making no one look good. Your faces are full of shit, and Brock is “boring.”
