Apparently 2K Games ended their contract with Yukes and Visual Concepts is now the series developer starting with this game.

Yukes will still lend help for engine-related stuff likely till a new engine gets made by Visual Concepts.

lol the entire point of Yukes making their own IP was to better themselves for the WWE games.

One bullet point in the 2k20 mentioned streamlined controls for accessibility while still being challenging. Now it makes sense.

Waiting for the usual "biggest roster ever" and "improved universe mode" claims made every year.

I didn't even buy last year's game. I got it for Christmas. It's the same shit every year and as such I got bored within a month.

I bought it to play with Heisenberg and friends. It bores the shit out of me when playing by myself, and Fire Pro is still my go to for single player, but the game is a fucking riot when playing with friends.

They made an exception this year as they've just announced that The Fiend is the pre-order bonus.

I played 2k16 or 17 on XBox and I hated it. I can't get into the engine they have. It's like you have to "work" the match. I don't like it. I just wish it was No Mercy with amazing graphics and a lot of good next gen shit added.

2k19 was meant to be the last game yukes made for wwe, visual concepts took over for 2k20 , according to ign they've been working with Yukes on the wwe games since 2k14. So i wouldn't expect a massive change in the next game.

I just wish they would totally overhaul the online mode, trying to get a game takes forever and when you do it's generally against some ocd basement dwelling walking abortion that spends 23.5 hours a day playing and the other .5 beating himself off.

Of the 10 or so online games i've managed to get connected to in this, 9 of them were against some russian prick who fit the above description aptly. How is it there's no way to blacklist players you don't want to play against? And why is the game so reliant on reversals? The whole online "strategy" seems to be get the other guy to use his reversals up then beat him down, and because of this you can do nothing but sit and watch. Quality gameplay having a mechanic that renders you utterly useless until a meter charges up.:wtf:

Probably have to wait till the launch of next gen consoles before any major changes are getting made. Would be the ideal time to have a brand new engine for the series and no longer have to deal with a modified PS1 era engine.

A "gameplay" trailer. Graphically a lot of aspects look to be a downgrade somehow.

This isn't even gonna be a Christmas pickup for me this year. They've added nothing of consequence.

Also seems even Visual Concepts was lazy in regards to fixing the wonky glitches and physics of Yukes engine if the brief part showing Charlotte's hair defying gravity is any indication.

The Universe “upgrades” are basically “you can have more feuds and matches per show, and a PPV can have 3 brands on it”. The Showcase doesn’t interest me as I don’t play as female superstars, and the gimmicky horror stuff is not gonna turn this into a “must buy” for me.

NewLegacyInc was invited to a recent preview event for the game and were told the only DLC characters being planned are just goofy/monster alts of existing in-game characters. Anyone who missed the roster cut is not being added into the game.

Also seems Io won't have her new entrance theme based on a recent video showcasing all the women's entrances in the game.

They have completely phoned it in this year.

Supposedly the game contains entire movesets for certain NXT people like KUSHIDA who were originally planned as DLC before 2K Games went in a different direction.

For those in the know, is this because Yukes aren’t making them anymore?

Not really.

Its pretty much a textbook example of a game needing way more development time but can't because of strict deadlines from WWE and 2K Games stopped caring about quality years ago.

Didn't help Visual Concepts that Yukes engine has been a big mess for years and they had to redo a lot of stuff in the game because of the state it was in when the developer switch happened.

I'd rather they skip a year or two and come up with something substantial. I miss small things like superstars coming out with multiple titles and other small things that add to the overall experience.

2K Games wanted to do something like that around a year or two into their deal in order to rehaul the game engine but WWE refused to allow it.

Even asking for delay by a couple of months for a semi-rehaul got rejected by WWE since it would have made their quarter fiscal report be lower than usual at the time.

After that moment, 2K Games pretty much came to the same realization THQ had years before of WWE games are not worth spending huge sums of money to improve and the least amount of effort done still generates a decent amount of revenue each year.

They also might not give any fucks this year because they'll likely be developing a version of 2K21 for next-gen.

Definitely a hard pass for me. There are certain games not worth anybody's money.

I think I'd feel most embarrassed for anyone who's ever paid for Fallout 76, though. Easily the worst game (and I use the term loosely here) of this generation.

At somepoint a fanbase needs to blame themselves. People keep buying a product that insults them for the branding alone and theyll get what they deserve.


This is on no one but the consumer at this point.

I was given 2k19 as a Christmas gift last year and I played for like a month before getting bored and moving on. And even that game looked far superior to this.

I'm gonna flat out ask to NOT be given it this year because I can't condone anyone spending money on this crap.

Others have also mentioned about Visual Concepts likely using new tech for this year's game but between having to make it work with Yukes engine and dev time issues, the odd looking faces are the end result.

Said it before and i'll say it again, these games would be better if they had 2-3 years dev time, wwe just want to crank these out yearly which leads to a game that for the most part could have been an update for the game previous.

Vader's Mastodon helmet had a similar glitch problem for like 2 years in a row where he would do the motion to take off his helmet during his entrance so it could then do the smoke effect but the helmet itself wouldn't come off nor start smoking. Vader would still react as if it did happen making his entrance look goofy.

In 2k19 if you chose to do the break out attack when you were entering with vader the game bugged out, he looked like he was stooping over, the helmet remained on for a while and moves seemed to be detached from his body.

This fan looks fuming at having to be involved in this shitshow of a game.

The game really is a farce,i snagged it out of morbid curiosity wondering how bad it could be. The controls are incredibly unintuitive (i seem to be doing the same 2-3 moves over and over for some reason), graphical glitches all over the show. Tons of bugs as well (par for the course) bust someone open in a match and no blood shows until the very end of the match in the celebration scene, if you're messing with caw's there's a bug right now that if you add text to a caws outfit the match refuses to load in. Also happens if you're doing an alternate outfit for a roster character.

First thing i did in the game was to give Hogan alt NWO attire. And while it can be done some things are fucked in the game. On the entrance if you have changed the colour of the shirt to black he still rips a red one off that appears from underneath, also the boas appear to be bolted to his legs when any changes are made. Obviously adding nwo logos etc can't be done at the minute as the game has that bug mentioned above where adding characters\decals makes the match not load. Not to mention when you do make your entrance you opponent just stands in the ring and the 2 character models bump into each other and clip through each other.

Im glad last year was the year i bought the game on day 1 on a whim. I usually only get the game every other year.

Whoever at Yukes or VC that came up with the Ribbie character sort of forgot to make a fake Twitter handle for it since the one in the game is actually owned by someone.

Only reason its not a big mess is due to whoever owns the account hasn't posted any tweets despite it being around since 2009.
