I don't think we should be telling a person of color how to feel about a shirt he clearly sees as offensive.

I would have never guessed/noticed/assumed the "racist" part of the shirt.... at first thought he was upset just because his shirt was so plain and bland.

On its own, the shirt looks bad and par for the course for most of WWE's shirt designs.

Between going with that color combo and design and giving Myles the stereotypical happy black guy wrestler gimmick, WWE left themselves wide open for the black face criticisms to happen.

This got me thinking: when was the last time two black wrestlers feuded with each other? Was it Shad and JTG? Maybe The New Day and D-Von or The Prime Time Players? There were feuds there, right?

For some reference this is what the Rolling Stones shirt looks like as a plain design. They also sell it in a variety of designs and colors.

They have had that logo for like 40 years, and it is a fair comparison.

WWE released a statement basically blaming Myles and saying that talent have input and significant creative say in their shirt designs.

Myles has already called bullshit on that.

To counterbalance all the "I don't see it" folks, the Al Jolson-looking derogatory imagery is the first thing I noticed. This is one of those things that could have been completely avoided if they just ran it by him or somebody with some sense first instead of "here's your merch". This looks like something out of Bamboozled, and that was a satirical movie.

If I had any faith that WWE had any sort of self-awareness or quality writing, I would figure this was the beginning of a gimmick, angle, and push for the guy trying to buck the "this is all you are" trend. But, of course this is legit. Of course they're that tone deaf. Just of fucking course.

Also it doesn't sound like WWE ever even released this shirt, just showed him a design. If they changed it before releasing it after he objected, sigh I don't know at all with this.

I didn't see it as offensive initially, but I also don't have the same perspective on it. To me it seems like he was upset prior to the shirt, and this just opened the floodgates. Why else would he be bringing up past issues with Lethal and ROH.

It's an odd move because the only buzz about Devlin lately was because of his OTT stuff and nothing NXT UK related. Nothing NXT UK related generates buzz, honestly. I really doubt this was something he asked for. This move doesnt hurt David Starr at all, he works a lot of other places, but it does rob OTT of their top babyface and seemingly punishes Devlin himself.

Booker T commented on this, and he alluded to all the points that crossed my mind.

It still feels more like Myles is taking this opportunity to bring up every slight and grudge he has ever had, or he is purposefully trying to get fired. He hasn't been used, and if reports of NXT guys not getting raises is true, I can't blame him for wanting out. It's a bold way to go about it though.

The thing is, WWE are in a tight spot if he does want out, because it sets the precedent on how to get out of your contract: make a PR nightmare for them. It’s in WWE’s best interest for Myles to turn around and be a good soldier and give the world a thumbs up.

Mark Henry is a bad stereotype that also happens to be into sexual relations with geriatrics. It would be bad even if it was a white guy, but that makes it worse, especially since they called him chocolate.

Saba Simba is an "african warrior", offensive because you had to give it to a black guy, but not as bad because there are/were people in Africa who dressed like that. Not sure, not an expert on cultures.

Kamala is a man eater from Africa. Again, a stereotype, but thats just one thing wrong. If he was a man eater who only ate women, that would put him on equal footing with Mark Henry.

Cryme Tyme is two black dudes immediately labeled as "criminal" which fits into another racist stereotype, however, thats again only one hit against them.

So, all four give the bad stereotype/racism concept, but Henry amplifies it with a bad sexual innuendo/creepy behavior.
