RAW After Mania - April 6, 2020
 

Folks, it’s time for the most exciting show in wrestling every year: the Raw after Wrestlemania. Its that night where the most passionate fans come out really let their voices be heard. You know they say that these fans are so passionate, they boo who they’re supposed to cheer and cheer who they’re supposed to boo!

In fact, this year I heard the fans are so crazy, they’ve decided to not come to the show at all! What a concept.

Apparently they’ve only taped through tomorrow’s NXT. The plan is for live shows at the PC to resume beginning with Friday’s Smackdown.

And Vince was on a conference call with Trump and all of the major sports/entertainment executives this weekend, so he presumably was given the green light to proceed forward without fans.

When I was there live to see Becky win the main event of WM (and I barely reacted because I was long dead by then and I needed to bolt out of there and get on the train)...I certainly didn’t expect her to hold the title for a year.

Speaking of Mania, apparently WWE caught a very good break last night.

Had they not moved Mania to the PC, likely would have needed to delay the show at some point due to it raining at the Raymond James Stadium.

Likely going to end up upsetting Orlando's mayor if that happens since his stay at home orders are a lot more strict starting this week.

WWE messed up big time not taping more episodes last week for their weekly shows instead of wasting a lot of time on Mania's tapings. Or pull an AEW and find someplace elsewhere for the emergency tapings.

They just need to come to Georgia like AEW did. No one cares about the stay at home orders here, least of all the government.

QT Marshall was nice enough to let them use his school and they pulled it off nicely. Granted a good chunk of the roster was in the Jacksonville area. So they just snuck across the state line.

Unless WWE has contacts with the same setup and in states where quarantine rules are less strict, AND the fact they have to get there, they're screwed.

Before. They taped tonight's show and RAW's Mania go-home show last Tuesday.

RAW Tag title match was decent.

At least WWE didn't do the typical dumb thing where they have a champ suddenly lose their belt the day after Mania.

No heavy hitters in the first 90 min of RAW probably won't be great for ratings, but who knows, since it's the RAW after Mania.

The 4th quarter commentary just said...yeah...and into the 8263rd overtime.

Black vs Crews was pretty good I guess. Only paid half-attention to it after it went on another commercial break and started playing Animal Crossing New Horizons instead.

I'm glad both Crews and Aleister got to work what was the longest match I'm sure both have had in WWE.

Ricochet in a tag team with Cedric...if it gets Ricochet on TV i'm fine with it.

Cedric & Ricochet vs. Oney & Burch was pretty good.

Outside of the Black vs Crews match and the tag match with Alexander & Ricochet, this hasn't been a good RAW After Mania show and on track to be the worst one since this became a special thing years ago.

Called up for a squash. Womp Womp.

Deonna Purrazzo went from being a notable name and one of the best female wrestlers on the indies to being mostly just another nobody on the roster since joining WWE.

And she stole the Ram-Paige.

Besides WWE not bothering to follow their own coronavirus rules for this Boneyard match tapings, it also apparently took around 8 hours to film this match.

I have a feeling most people will dislike it though because it will feel 'boring' and 'lackluster on star power'

WWE finally stops with their outdated habit of only using photos for PPV match recaps and yet still ends up doing something dumb by censoring out match finishes.

Also Charlotte seems to have gotten worse on the mic over the past year. That was a pretty piss poor promo by her.

Is it them actually pushing those people or most are only getting quality screen time because the roster is way too thin at the moment.

Someone like Crews would benefit from finally getting a real big push on the main roster but his long match with Black likely was more due to WWE not wanting to replay a past match to eat up time and not because they have something meaningful for him.

Show vs. Drew was decent but not worth being a special hidden match from Mania.

This week's show was pretty boring overall, especially for a RAW After Mania show.

Really hope WWE spices things up with their next set of tapings since these empty arena shows have been mostly uninteresting to watch.
