Ronda Rousey talks about returning to WWE
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Safe to say Ronda Rousey won't be back in <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/WWE?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#WWE</a> long-term again - but she'd fine with a Goldberg type deal one day. Doesn't seem real high on her list of things to do in the near future though. <a href="https://t.co/K1p1xCoBvT">pic.twitter.com/K1p1xCoBvT</a></p>— Kenton (@Kenton_la) <a href="https://twitter.com/Kenton_la/status/1248829098639740933?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 11, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

About what I expected. Wrestling in WWE was a bucket list item for her, and she got a lengthy title run as well as working two Manias including a main event. Not much else for her to do.
|
The most memorable part of this interview she did with Steve-O for me was her complaining about how winning an Olympic Medal was useless since she didn't make any money from it.
|
Lol calling it fake fighting, and then shitting on the fans
|
Meltzer said on his board this wasn't a work and that is legit how Ronda feels about WWE fans.
|
Wtf is she talking about? She got a huge reaction at her first mania. And didn't the fans get behind her until the Becky feud?

Remember when Meltzer said she was leaving and the entire internet shit on him.
Still waiting for all of those apologies to Dynamite Dave |
Heel turn, pair her with Heyman NOW. This could be the golden goose who sets up the women's division. Leave Becky and Charlotte the fuck away, yes could be the first 2 to face Rhonda, but let them get smashed. Heyman has his new cash cow and we have a heel to boo cause she literally is there for the $ and pretty much told us to fuck off.
|
She’s setting up a heel run whenever she feels like returning.

Guess the roster got permission to attack Ronda online since several of them already did. Only notable one that went to Ronda's defense was Baszler.
Nia Jax already threatened to beat her up for real the next time they are in the ring. |

That's ironic coming from the drama queen that went into hiding after her UFC losses and allegedly considered suicide. |

Not saying Ronda wouldn't destroy Nia, but Nia could certainly do serious damage if she did get a hold of Ronda. |
Assuming she knows how to actually fight and throw punches, yes. The idea that Nia thinks she can beat up a trained mixed martial artist is laughable.
|
Watching her documentary on Netflix right now.
Gary Stretch directing, a classic "Should have been the world champion" boxer. Also a very good actor. |
Ronda is a real fighter. This isnt a work ,its a shoot, and rousey doesnt give a fck
|
Meh. I was never really into Ronda myself. I mean yeah, she's a legit fighter and everything but I always found her to be super bland and boring. Also feel like she's super sloppy in the ring, though I think thats a by product of her being a real fighter and not worrying about what looks good and if she does things cleanly. Her not coming back has no effect on me or my interest in the product.
Still think this is a work to have her come back as a heel though. Between her comments and Nia openly shooting on her, and the fact that she was at HQ like a month ago, this just reeks of work to me. Feel like if she really had no interest in coming back that she wouldn't have travelled to HQ, she'd have just phoned it in and said "not interested." |

Rhonda as a whiny, entitled heel sounds like it could be good

Meh, modern wrestlers are a bunch of fakes. I don't blame her for being shitty with them and the fans. Wrestling isn't fun these days. So gentrified. |
Guys used to actually beat people up to defend it, but now they just dogpile on Twitter and then backtrack if it turns out they have a military background.

I dunno about that. If they really fought and Nia managed to land a solid blow to Rondas head she could probably knock her out rather easily. It would be hard for her to do it given the speed difference and Rondas superior skill, but that punchers chance is still there.
Kinda like Floyd Mayweather Jr and Big Show back in the day. If Big Show somehow managed to land a clean KO punch on Floyd in a real fight he could have killed him. |
Also consider that a lot of Rondas offense wouldn't be nearly as effective against someone the size of Nia as opposed to her normal opponents. She'd have to strike her a fair bit more and it would be much harder for her to put some of her holds/submissions on someone Nias size if she was seriously fighting back. There's a lot to consider here.
Still think Ronda would murder her in the end, prob via some sort of choke, but I don't think it would be as cut and dry as some of ya'll seem to think. Nia is more than twice the size of Ronda. That's not a small difference. |
tbf though if it was done in a wrestling ring that would highly favor Ronda. In a cage if Nia somehow managed to get Ronda pinned against the side of the cage it would prove troublesome to Ronda. In the ring she can escape and regroup if Nia got close to "trapping" her.

Ronda would crush Nia Jax. Armbar in one.

Ronda weighs like 130, Nia is close to 300. That is a massive difference in size. Nia is a giant as far as women go. That is a weight that Ronda has no experience dealing with in a real fight. I readily admitted Ronda would murder her but ya'll are seriously neglecting the size/strength difference. All it takes is Ronda making one mistake and Nia landing that lucky shot and she would hurt tf out of Ronda.
And don't give me that toughness argument. You know as well as I do that a strike against someone that weighs 130 is going to do way more damage than that same strike hitting someone who weighs 300. Xrod is dead on pointing out that there is a reason for weight classes. Big people can hurt small people a hell of a lot easier than the other way around. Bringing up Butterbean as well? He outweighed Bart Gunn by 160 pounds bro, was far stronger, AND he was the pro fighter. Butterbean had the advantage in all 3 aspects of that scenario. Ronda has the pro advantage against Nia, but loses the strength and size battle by a wide margin. There is no legitimate comparison to be made between those 2 matchups. That's why I compared it to the Bigshow/Mayweather set up, because they pan out similarly. Floyds the better fighter, Show had the size and strength advantage. |

Ronda didn't even last a minute against Amanda Nunez before she got knocked tf out and quit forever lol

untrained our of shape pro wrestler with 0 fight experience isn’t doing shit to a former champ. We aren’t exactly talking about bob sapp here, who still lost every fight he had despite being juiced to the gills.

Who would win a real fight: the real fighter or the much larger pretend fighter
Classic TPWW Easter wrestling thread God bless all of you, he is risen |
I wonder who would win if Haku (RIP) returned as a woman and challenged Ronda to a 'brawl for all' ?
|
Butterbean vs Ronda, book it now
|
Had to quickly Google Haku there to see if he was still alive.
You wee rascal, Slik. |
Haku died but Meng is still alive
|
He should have been named Haiku and done a Genius poetry gimmick.
They could have been an amazing tag team. |
Ric Flair could be the leader, coming down to the ring in a limo and telling limericks.
Change his name to Limo-Ric Flair. |
Rounding out the group could be a resurrected Pak Song, who would obviously sing during his entrances.
It would be "Sing, Sing a Song" by The Carpenters. |

Haku just wrestled at an indie show a few hours from me like in Dec-Jan
|
You are confused, that was Meng

I thought it was King Tonga.

Pretty funny Nia is mad at someone for injuring people.

Her name is an anagram of Ian

I don't agree with Cornette that Angle was bigger than Rousey at the time of their individual signings. Other than that, he's spot on.

That's fair. Ronda is a medalist athlete. Not gold of course. Ronda also reached the highest point of her sport professionally. I don't think the difference of the 2 is much beyond Kurt falling in love with the business and Ronda not doing so.
|
I think Ronda was the bigger star outside wrestling, but Angle obviously fell in love with it and meant more as he adapted.
I don't disagree with Cornette or old-school guys taking issue with it. They made their money working, and some people even worked their families to protect the work. It's easy to look back on that now and think "what pieces of shit," but people being willing to believe, even if they didn't actually believe, was absolutely crucial to people emotionally engaging and buying tickets, etc. Where it falls down with me is that this shit has been so fucking exposed. No one really works anymore. Well, MJF tries to and, weirdly enough, despite him probably having some errant comments in the past, Brock Lesnar makes people believe in him -- good, bad or otherwise. But I don't get modern wrestlers saying "Hey, don't call this shit fake!" when you've got John Cena going out there and doing pantomime with Bray Wyatt in one of the most heavily promoted matches at WrestleMania. And then you've got Nia Jax sitting in a group chat with all her enemies and rivals talking about how it's a sisterhood and she's out there looking out for her buddies and it's all work getting upset at Ronda Rousey exposing that it's a work. If it were someone that actually presented themselves as legit calling out Ronda Rousey to get in the ring with them for five minutes, I'd be more like "Haha, yeah -- give it to her," but it's fucking Nia Jax. There's a huge psychology problem in wrestling, and it's so weird to see wrestlers who classify themselves as entertainers and will do ridiculous shit all the time adopting this old-school mentality simultaneously. Makes everything look like a damn cult. If you're in it, you drink the punch, but if you get out and talk about the punch you're a target. I'm all in favor of people working. People can still be fooled. There are people who think this is a work, even though it doesn't make any sense for your former Women's Champion to be talking about how that was all bullshit. People are generally idiots. But fucking pick a lane and stick to it. The irony of a green woman with little talent that hurts people and herself taking up for the business in a group chat that exposes the business is just...insanity. It's actually insane from the outside. |
Lol at anyone actually thinking this was a work
|
Wwe a few hours ago just happened to put rousey vs jax match from mitb on their YouTube channel.
