Top 2 favorite wrestlers of all time
A very simple thread, you just name your top 2 favorite wrestlers of all time.
|
Shawn Michaels and Taker
|
1. The Undertaker
2. Stone Cold |
Bret Hart and Randy Savage
|

1. JBL
2. Magnificent Muraco |
I think I'd go... with Bret Hart because I love his matches there are so many great ones from a great time in WWF in my childhood. And I'd have to say Mick Foley. I watch a lot of old wrestling and anytime Mick Foley is on screen I watch it. He was a magnetic in all ways and his matches were always pretty awesome.
|
I wanted to say Buddy Rogers but it's ridiculous because I haven't seen more than a dozen or so of his matches probably. But the ones I've seen he was as good as Bret in a lot of ways and his character was almost as big as Austin's.
|
Macho Man
Undertaker Shawn Michaels HBK Bret Hart |
Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle
|
Bret Hart...because of his matches and how real he made it look and feel.
Shawn Michaels...because of the drama and story he brought to big matches. Loved his whole turn and growth as HBK too. The fact that both guys were in great teams before having stellar singles careers just adds to it. |
Slik can count good.
I will say.... Chris Jericho and Christian. As much as I love Christian, I realize there are a lot of people better than him... but he just has a lot of sentimental value for me, and following his whole career. |
This is so hard, because it really does change for me depending my mood. Right now, I've got to probably say Cody Rhodes and Kurt Angle. But I've been digging the shit out of Bret Hart and Barry Windham lately.
I think my underrated non-main event guy of all-time is Jimmy Del Ray. |
I thought Noid disliked Cody Rhodes...

Kevin Nash and Tazz.
|
Picking just two is hard.
Chris Jericho being one of the two is a no brainier for me but after that, way too many to choose from to stick with as a pick. I'll go with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the second pick for now. |

Bret because I enjoyed how crisp everything he did was and he sold like a mother fucker.
The Rock because he was the baddest cat in the land and everything I could've dreamed of being when I was in middle school. |
No fucking idea.
Probably someone that would make Dale angry. |
Piper and Perfect.
|
Without putting any thought into whatsoever Flair and Hansen.

Been digging the fuck out of Stan Hansen lately too.
|
D-Lo Brown
Bret Hart |
Ric Flair a close runner up
|
I want to know which mod edited Noid's post. That's fucking hilarious.
|
Noid has praised Cody's work plenty of times, I've gotten the sense that his beef with Cody is with the way AEW is run, not necessarily Cody as a performer.
But yeah seeing him listed as one of his top two favorites ever made me do a double take and assume shenanigans. |

Kane and Christian
|
I enjoyed Christian Kane on Angel

It's the smark thing not to like Nash, but if you were born between 1986-1989ish, your fandom was fueled on Diesel power--at least a little bit.

Yeah by about 1999, WCW stopped making any sense. 1998 was rough but there was that semblance of coherence.
Even as a youngster I got sick of people turning good/bad on a dime. My biggest disappointment was Bret turning heel the first time in WCW...just made him into "another guy." I was only about 11 years old, and I could tell something wasn't "right." |
Yeah when Bret came in it didn't take long to think something weird was going on at WCW. Because I was a kid and a mark I didn't ever think that it was "bad" but it didn't take long for that to happen. It was around Uncensored 98 for me, the previous months PPV's sucked, really bad and I believe it was this PPV that had some really ridiculous main event tag match with like 4 different teams of 3 or 4 and it was a total mess, and I think it was for the tag titles too. That's when I was like "wow, WCW sucks, when is Jericho going to go to WWF".

Chris Jericho and CM Punk.

D-Lo should have more love
|

I do have mad love for him though. |

But even I was confused when the Woifpack and nWo Hollywood randomly unified again and they tried to make it sound like the entire thing was planned from the very start. |
Austin and Rock, they are the only 2 I could not justify leaving off.

The theme tune, the head shake, the sweet moveset, the chest protector... He was, for one brief fleeting moment, the greatest entertainment I have ever seen in wrestling. I absolutely adored him and I think he should have stayed in WWE forever. I opted for him because no matter how much I watch and learn about wrestling now, I will never be as entertained by the whole package of one wrestler as I was then with D-Lo Brown. It's the childhood factor, I watched more wrestling in "The Attitude Era" than I had before or have since and for some reason he was always involved in something great. D-Lo Vs Jeff Jarrett was a true feast for the eyes any time it went down. As an adult I just can't vote The Rock even though he was my idol as a kid because rewatch his matches is often quite painful because of his weak sauce offense. |
Remember when he came back all of a sudden in 2008 and beat Santino
|
No, but good for him because he's a wonderful man.
|
|
Hysterical that Noid had a Freudian slip and called Cody one of his favorite wrestlers.
|
Noid a closet aew fan confirmed
|
randy savage and kurt angle
|
Bilbo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee
|
For the record, I was a huge D-Lo Brown mark.

For me number one is easy, it's Sting. After that it's a toss up between Stone Cold, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, and JBL. If I had to pick it'd be Stone Cold Steve Austin just because I've met him.
|
If you found out Sting and Stone Cold had probably showered in the same shower block and both likely washed their assholes while in there would you still love them the most?
|
Jeff Hardy doesn't wash his ass.
No way. |
I hope Jeff Hardy dyes his ass hair like his hair hair.
|
Punk and Jericho
|
The Uso on the left

Is it just me or is Jimmy Uso way better than Jey Uso? And I hate admitting that, because I hate the name "Jimmy."
Also, are both "Jimmy" and "Jey" supposed to be derivative of "James?" They should turn heel and become one wrestler named "James Reigns." They swap out and constantly help each other get a leg-up in singles competition. In FCW they were "Jules and Jim," which was presumably a reference to the Truffaut film. James Cameron Reigns |
Uso fine you blow my mind
|
Okay, those are the two gimmicks I want to see now:
* James C. Reigns -- film aficionado, who uses his twin to win matches and launch his singles identity. * Mickey Uso -- the other Uso singles gimmick with a team of cheerleaders who come out and dance for him, eventually bringing in The Spirit Squad to be his lackeys. Each gets ahead by helping the other by dressing up as their gimmick. They can also revive The Hurricane/S.H.I.T. gimmicks as a way to still be in tag team competition without leaving their singles career behind. |

Bobby Heenan is the sort of sexy beast you want to see take the Shaka.
|
Marty should have been wearing pants while going doing down that hill.
|
Mr Perfect
Bret Hart |
I remember in ARMCHAIR WARFARE I had an Uso and I renamed him Jonothan Solofa Fatu (his real name), and had him come out as the sophisticated manager who had found himself a monster, who was Mike Knox. So the refined sophisticated Samoan was managing the wild white man monster.

KOTR 93 match is better than the SS 91 match. BUT they have a fuckload of houseshow matches from around 89 that fucking rule. The SS 91 match is really good - but hindered by Hennig's bad back. |
1.ric flair
2. Hulk hogan |
Quote:

Eddie Guerrero
Yoshihiro Takayama |
Honestly, the second pick can be replaced by a few doaen other people depending on my mood, but Eddie is a constant.
|
When I first started watching as a little boy my top 2 were:
Hacksaw Jim Duggan Hulk Hogan And a few years later my top 2 were: The Undertaker Bret Hart Then as a fresh teen when Attitude was in full effect: The Rock D-Lo Brown Now as a fully grown man I look back and I think I could pick any of them pretty happily. I have to say that for replay value nobody is beating Flair, Bret or Mankind very easily. They are pretty much untouchable with that regard. |
Bret Hart just did everything so realistically.
During the infamous Austin match there are moments where he looks like he's actually trying to maim him. But then you go back and watch any other match and it's almost always the same level of insane intensity, unless he's wrestling another face. He put in some serious mean mugging for a beloved hero. That's refined artistry in a very niche craft. You have to admire that. |
My last two "favourite wrestlers" were Heath Slater and Ryback
|
Good old Ryback.
Posted at Rajah and possibly several other forums just to promote himself before he made it. The Silverback! |

That guy was a wrestler?!
That's pretty much the best punch for punch fight you will ever see. Just two big bastards trying to kill each other with no hint of finesse. Brute force flailing. |

Shawn Michaels is the easy first one.
But then it comes down to a variety of different people. Taker HHH Austin Rock Bret Hart Eddie Angle Orton But I think at the end of the day, for me it has to be Taker. Guy gave his life for the WWF/WWE and was involved in so many high profile matches/feuds. Austin was popular but his career was tragically cut short. Angle could have been an all time great but injuries and his pill addiction hurt that. HHH was great but I always felt like he was better in a stable. Bret was great but Montreal will always be a downfall in his career. Eddie passed too soon. Orton is good but I really feel like he is starting to come into his own right now. Loved the Legend Killer gimmick and I am glad that they are bringing that back, especially with him being more sinister than before. Rock had great wrestling skills and amazing charisma. Outside of the Ministry of Darkness, the Corporate Ministry, and teaming with Kane, Taker did all that shit on his own. Sure Bearer was his mouth piece but that was only done to enhance the character. |
I might go and watch some Takayama.
|
Just read the dude got paralyzed from the neck down doing a sunset flip. But his retirement is listed as "last match to date," like the dude is regarded as being so tough that puroresu fans aren't sure he isn't going to get up and start beating the shit out of people again one day.
One of two men to have won the IWGP, Triple Crown and GHC Titles too. Good for him. |
Macho Man and Edge.
Dlo Brown is a honorable mention |

It's also good to see D'Lo Brown getting some love. |
Hulk Hogan
Bret Hart The characters that is. Definitely not the people who performed under those gimmicks. They’re both literal whores. |
A whores is a whores of cores of cores
